The food was delicious (I ordered the Mediterranean chicken kabob). The staff were very polite and friendly. I ordered my food to go to take to work for my evening meal. It took them 15 minutes longer to prepare my meal than they indicated on the phone. When I opened my meal, there was no pita bread. I called them to tell them they left off the bread. I was told by the lady who answered the phone that the person who prepared my takeout bag was gone for the day but she would let her know. And that was it. No offer to do anything about it. I will probably eat there again but I will not tip on the takeout like I did today. read more

This is a very good restaurant in Oxford in a good location. They have added on over the years so that's a testimony that business is good. The food is pretty good but they don't season anything. I had the George's Pasta with shrimp. It was very good once I added salt. Everyone at my table had to do the same. The servants are very friendly and helpful. The decor is very homey, though the silk vines overhead made me uneasy. There is no telling how much dust and whatever else is clinching to on waiting to fall into your food. COMPLETELY DISSATISFIED: Waited 20 minutes after being seated until calling the host back over to take our order. We order the special, only to have the *owner SNEAK to the specials board and remove it over 10 minutes later*. No waitresses were serving the main dining area during Sunday evening dinnertime. For a restaurant that is trying to be upscale, they're failing miserably. This place excels at one thing: MAKING EXCUSES. I should have been more observant when watching other patrons leaving before having their orders placed. I wouldn't eat here again - even for free. Full menu of American cuisine and a few Greek and Italian dishes. Every meal I've had has been delicious, and the service is generally excellent. (Servers come and go, so YMMV.) The Greek-style pizza is terrific. The decor is pleasant (with a water feature in the center) and comfortable. The place is usually pretty busy, so there is often a wait, but it's worth it. George's is terrific. I've only eaten there once, last night, hence 4 stars. I don't know it well enough for 5. I had an excellent ribeye steak delivered rare, just as I had asked for. The baked potato had a crisp skin, the sauteed veggies were real. My wife had saltimbocca and liked it too. We shared a terrific piece of pecan pie for dessert. Prices were reasonable, the place was full, the ambiance is warm and pleasant. Very local in the best sense. Selections on the menu range from steak to pizza with a concentration on Italian food and enough Greek selections for me to know that it's owned by a Greek restaurateur -- as so many local places seem to be around America! First, our server Brittney was the absolutely best, attentive and knowledgeable. Clam chowder was excellent..$5+ a med bowl was well worth it. The wife got a small pizza..took home half of it. She also got aside salad, she split with me. Above average side salad. I got the Angus bacon burger..got to say top 3 burgers I've ever had in my life. I ate there recently and was disappointed.I ordered a fried chicken sandwich with fries .The chicken was 3 soggy tenders with the soggy breading falling off as I attempted to get it out of a burger joint wrapper with a paper band around it.The bun was also so wet the crust separated into two layers.This was topped with 2 slices of a very small Roma tomato and shredded lettuce.I paid $7.99 for this .It did not reach the standards of any fast food restaurant meal.The fries were good.My son had a personal pizza and salad.We will not return.It's back to the Henderson site for us.I truly loved this place.I hope my experience was a fluke. read more

And just a heads up guys, if you're going to have a fish tank in your dining area, you should keep it clean for ine, and for two put at least a tint bit of thought into what goes in the tank. Great place after you are seated. The door is at register and the hostess station is 5 feet forward. With people picking up take out orders, others trying to get out the door and people waiting to be seated all in a 5 ' x 4' area, it is a cluster. There is only one small bench for customers to wait. Went to George's on a suggestion from a desk clerk. She was right. The half rack of ribs fell right off the bone when I pried with my fork. They were so good I wish I'd ordered a whole rack. I'm giving them a 4 because I do thoroughly enjoy their pizza and the homemade chips are also amazing. On the downside I'll say that it's slightly pricey for the quality and if you order delivery (for large groups specially), don't expect them to ever be on time or get it right, they rarely have in my experience. Your pizza will also be pushed all to one side or plastered to the top of the box due to getting slung around or dropped I'm guessing. The staff are all dressed professionally and the service was good. The food was fresh, well seasoned and served in generous portions. The prices are very reasonable for the quality.
