Canton does not offer a ton of options for late-night dining. TGTG -- Thank God there's George's. I discovered this place a little more than a year ago and have eaten there at least once a week since (most frequently on Wednesdays, when they mark all their burgers down to just $5). The burgers aren't merely delicious; they're actually good for you, made from locally sourced grass-fed beef. The garlic fries, on the other hand, are probably really bad for you, but they taste so good you won't care. The jukebox is among Canton's coolest, as are the folks behind the bar. Excellent beer selection, moderate prices and live music that runs the gamut from great to gawd-awful. Outstanding dive bar vibe, and probably Canton's most age-diverse crowd, with tatted and pierced young hipsters in thrift-shop chic elbow-to-elbow with clean-cut young professionals in ties and collars. Would not be out of place in San Francisco or Manhattan's lower East Side. read more

I'm surprised at all of the amazing reviews, not because of the food, because it is delicious. It's one of the only places to go late night when I come down after work and the food is normally spot on. But I guess you have to be a well-known regular to get good service. I expect it to be crazy on a weekend or First Friday but I've come down when it's almost dead and still waited 20 minutes to even be acknowledged because the bartenders are chatting it up with the regulars. There are 2 bartenders that are always spot on the rest are not interested or drunk on the job. I want to love this place but I need to be shown a little more love first. read more

I really want to give this bar a good review, but it's been so hit or miss with the food and service, I can't. The burgers in general are very good. However, it depends upon who's cooking them. 70% of the time, the burgers aren't seasoned at all. The service is mediocre. Of course it's going to busy during the $5 burger days. Of course it's a dive bar. But there are just some elements of service that are lacking...like getting another beer within 5 minutes of finishing one. If you get the big guy as your bartender, plan to be there for a while. Also plan on being thirsty. read more

Best burgers in Canton. Everything is fresh and tasty. The atmosphere is definitely divey but the servers are so friendly and the food is amazing. My favorite is the treetop burger, and the milkshake of the month (it was maple cream when I was there) was divine. read more

Wow. I visited George's Lounge in my wayward youth - bar was a little sticky, light was a little dim, drinks were a little watery, and sometimes the only musical entertainment was a drunken bartender or owner, singing. All in all - good times. I wandered in a few nights ago (someone told me they now served food) from a concert at The Auricle (2 1/2 blocks away) and was pleasantly surprised. The food was good (some even locally sourced), the music was a national touring act, the bar was clean, and the vibe was more hip and eventful as opposed to watering hole. The fact that I can go into George's at 1:50 in the morning, and have them encourage me to eat a burger, rather than act all pissed off that I'm there 10 minutes before the kitchen closes, is the reason why it's the best. Chelsea and friends are always welcoming and fun to have serving you. They recommend great items, and always have smiling faces. Such a dissapointment. Poor service, poor food quality. Embarrassing to take friends from out of town. Ordered the burger of the month, turkey with an apple hash. Received an overdone beef burger on a pretzel bun. Once returned got the same burger back with the apple hash and cold slice of munster....nasty. ordered a milkshake, that dispite several questions to its whereabout, was told, "...well that's up to the kitchen if and when it comes out." Was told both would be taken off the bill, they werent. Tried to pay the check and ended up over tippping, as our group got tired of waiting for the waitress to return. When using the word "dive" bar, this place definitely fits that description. However, it is one of the coolest places little places I've ever been to. From the bar stools to the posters on the wall to the jukebox, this place takes you back to another time. We went on a weekday early evening just to grab a bite to eat. The burgers were delicious!! I got a salad that was also very good. The service was great as well. If you're looking for something fancy, I suggest going somewhere else. Heard about this place from a friend of the family and it lived up to expectations. The place itself is on the smaller side but thats no problem, they play good music when there isn't a live performance, good service, and our burgers were amazing! Hands down the best late night food around. Serving until 2:30AM never tasted sooooo GOOD!!! Friendly staff and cheapest adult drinks around. This place is a great burger joint! It's a small little old dive bar that has EXCELLENT burgers and fries! They use grass fed beef and local toppings. The King George and the Blue Ribbon are my favorite burgers. Handcut fries can be loaded with toppings. Try the blue ribbon beer cheese! It's great! George's was serving breakfast at the Stark County Fair this Labor Day weekend 2017 and it had to be the worst meal my husband and I have ever eaten. The breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon or sausage and a piece of thick toast. The grill must have been filthy because the eggs were gray and tasted terrible. The hash browns were gray as well and so drenched in oil that there was a puddle on the plate and the potatoes were unrecognizable. The toast was brown on one side and the only edible thing on the plate. The bacon was shriveled and greasy as well with a strange flavor. We threw our food away and went over to the McKinley Band Boosters breakfast and it was so much better and you got twice as much food. We wasted $13 on the first terrible breakfast. read more

The array of options for burgers was really superb, and how many places offer spiked shakes? Atmosphere was pleasantly unique - dive bar feel with weird music choice and old style feel. However, we did order some of the classic shakes, which were great but surprisingly weak in the flavor we ordered, and one had a touch of freezer burn taste from the frozen berries they used. When i've seen love music there its these funky blues bands doing hip-hop covers, so in other words, it's a lot of fun.
