Service and Ambiance: We just had the most wonderful evening!! My wife and I caught up with my college roommate (from 40 years ago) and his wife. While we have gotten together periodically over the years, this was our first get-together since COVID. So, we had a lot of catching up to do. All of this to say that the staff at Astoria Grill was superb. Reservation was for 6:30, but the other couple was running 30 minutes late. No problem - my wife and I were seated...none of that "you must have your entire party to be seated" nonsense. No rushing or pressuring us to order so they could turn-over the table. Our waitress, Morgan, was THE BEST! She read our table, understood the vibe, and knew how to pace our evening. Attentive without being overbearing, fun and conversational without being insincere, and knowledgeable and helpful without being over bearing. We will be asking for one of her tables during our next visit. We lost track of time and stayed past the 10 pm closing, but were never once told we needed to depart. It was as close to eating at your own supper table at home as you could get. I haven't ever experienced more gracious hospitality at a restaurant. Food and Drinks: A+ on all fronts. Cocktails, bourbons, wine, and waters were all dispatched timely and accurately, as we asked for a couple of minor adjustments to the cocktails. The food was sublime and portions were generous. Take home boxes were the norm for our group. Filet, Delmonico, pizza, and vegetable pasta dishes were all wonderfully prepared, served hot, and came with well-proportioned side dishes. My Parmesan Risotto was done to "Gordon Ramsey" perfection (we all know how he is a stickler for risotto). The steaks were expertly seasoned and cooked, perfect charring. The desserts and post dinner drinks capped off our ideal evening. My chocolate cake was dense without being cloying, with a creamy consistency topped with just the right amount of raspberry piping. The airline chicken was a new special and it was excellent. The French onion soup was good. They serve a nice Italian bread with the meal but it wasn't hot which I would prefer. So we went here for out Anniversary and we wanted to go somewhere new. The ambiance was nice and quiet, the couple had a little one next to us but you couldn't even tell. The waitress, Cass, was great, informative and helpful. Kept her card and hope we have her again, because we will be coming back. I sadly didn't get images of my food but we liked everything with the exception of the strawberry sorbet, it was rather bland compared to everything else. My steak was cooked to perfection and his Parmesan was delicious. The real star for me was the mushroom risotto. Honestly we loved it and will be planning a return dine in. read more

We were excited to try Astoria, hoping for authentic Italian fare--but unfortunately, it missed the mark. Our total bill came to $135 for one appetizer, two entrees, one glass of wine, a $20 corkage fee, tax, and tip. Made a Saturday reservation through Open Door. Despite selecting the regular dining room, we were nearly seated at a bar high-top and had to push for a proper table--even though the restaurant was mostly empty. The table we received was chipped, wobbly, and poorly lit. Paper napkins and worn furniture gave the place a cheap feel, totally out of sync with the pricing. Service was rushed and uninformed. Our server forgot a wine order, mispronounced menu items (bruschetta), couldn't explain ingredients, and wasn't aware of pricing. A bizarre moment: when asked about the odd wine charge ($14.42), we were told we could save 42 cents by paying cash, as cash is king--followed by "Jesus is king." Not the time or place for religious commentary. Food was a mixed bag: * Bruschetta: Overloaded with raw onion and balsamic--too acidic. * Chicken Piccata: Just average. * Braised Short Rib: Dry and tough, not tender as expected. The manager was aware we weren't happy but offered no real resolution--just a passive "let me know if you need anything." Astoria has potential, but between poor service, underwhelming food, and a lack of polish, we won't be back unless significant improvements are made. read more

Planned fo nice dinner out. Initially our waiter was very attentive. However as time went on we had an extended wait for food, dessert menu, coffee and bill. Our visit lasted almost 3 hrs! Only 2 of us and restaurant not that crowded. Food was good. Not sure why they feel the need to place "foliage " all over the calamari! Also, seemed like we were nickel and dimed. This was a great stab in the dark, but we've been meaning to get here for awhile. The bartender James was very helpful and we were impressed by his attentiveness. The food was stellar like the wine selection. No we want to go back and try more things! I would say, after looking around, the place would be a great host for a party or small event. Let's get into it. This is our first time at the Astoria Grill although we have been at the Brown Derby several times in the past. The remodel was pretty modest but the parking lot with the pot holes remained the same. We made reservations and arrived on time and we were greeted and seated promptly. Our server introduced herself and tactfully asked if we wanted a beverage from the wine or cocktail list. We opted for a Coke and Blue Moon on draft. Once the beverages arrived we were asked about an appetizer and we opted for the Calamari. I must admit that it was very very tender which is hard to do and was Not chewy. The coating was a little odd as it seemed Sandy. They use a light cornmeal that gave a grit texture. If they would have just used a tempura batter they would have been perfect. We then received our petite Caesar salad and French Onion soup. The cheese on the outside of the crock seemed to be provolone. Typically Gruyère is used. I went in for just broth only after breaking though the cheese. Whoa! It was a 5ml spoonful of Herbed flavored sodium broth. It was the saltiest soup that I have ever had that was overdone concentrate. The Caesar salad was just meh! The Good: My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Short Rib and mashed potatoes. The Not so Good: When my 16 Oz Pork Chop and Parmesan Risotto arrived it smelled wonderful. I made a cut through the end and it was transparently glistening. I then made a cut into the center and voila "RAW". I waitress came to our table right after I just made the cut and took it to the back and apologized. The Bad: I am not in the Health Department and not fully fully aware of the food service codes, but I thought it was unsanitary to bring back returned food to the grill which they just put back my Pork Chop on the grill;which I just tasted just to taste the flavor. I assumed that they would fire a new Pork Chop as I waited 10 Minutes. Nope- they through my original back on the grill. The re-fired plate was satisfactory the second time and the risotto was hot. Yes, the manager came over right away after the plate went back but that was the extent of any service recovery. In fact, I was surprised at no attempt for service recovery which could have gone a long way as there is no possibility of ever returning or recommending as I can not assure food would be cooked to proper temperature or assure someone else's partially eaten food would be returned to the kitchen only to contaminate the area. I'm torn between my experience at Astoria Grill. The atmosphere is classy with a Brooklyn, NY Italian accents. Our server Daria took care of us very well. The menu offer good variety of seafood and pasta entrees. As soon as we sat down a fork did have a speck of food and was replaced right away. For appetizer my family ordered bruschetta. The flavor was very good and fresh. I do think the bread slices could be thicker for the amount of toppings. Possibly 6 slices instead of 4 for $12. For our entrees we got the cod special, red snapper, and the carbonara pasta. All came with complimentary bread. The bread was warm and soft with oil and herb on top.. The cod special and red snapper were very tasty. Unfortunately our carbonara pasta had a hair in it. Which our waiter and owner did apologize for and remade the platter right way. By the end of the meal we were shocked to have not gotten any compensation for the health code violation and one member of a party having to wait longer for their food and being the last to eat. We understand mistakes happen. After a global pandemic and an upholding serve safe food guidelines, a new restaurant would understand offering a coupon or free meal. read more

Stopped here for the first time last night. Service was good, however when it came to the food we were underwhelmed. I had the Chicken Parm which was well cooked, but flavor was lacking. I would say it was a little better than average. The sauce on the spaghetti was just a light coating, with little flavor, and not good. My wife had the spaghetti and meatballs, and the meatballs are really good and were the best thing we had. It's just unfortunate the spaghetti and sauce brought the overall plate down. Overall, we were pretty disappointed and will not be returning. There are better options in the area for the same or cheaper price. read more

2/20/2025 -My husband and I had dinner at Astoria, a new restaurant in Canton. The ambiance of the restaurant was so relaxing, low light, and romantic. The service was excellent. Rachel was our server and she was awesome. The food was amazing. I had the Astoria Piccata, with a Caesar salad, and my husband had the Tuscan soup of the day with Shrimp Fettuccine as his Entree. The wine and spirits were enjoyable as well. We will be going back to this restaurant soon with our out of town family members. The Manager, Jeff, also introduced himself to us in a very welcoming manner. If you are looking for a classy, elegant, and special location to have dinner, you have found the right establishment.
