This place is one of those rare finds that you hope you fall into in your travels. Obviously, they did not receive as much credit as they should, and obviously some of these reviews were a sniper shot to screw them over, but this restaurant is the real deal. They produce an incredible cheesesteak... also the haddock and fries. Between Boston and Montreal and eating and every tourist trap imaginable... THIS place, finally restored our faith in just honest and decent quality food. They did not spend a lot of money on decor so they could focus on the food. The outside appearance of the place shows their hometown roots and loyalty. Whatever you do do not judge a book by its cover. Because this place produced one of the best cheesesteak sandwiches we ate in a decade, hands down! read more

Great food! Chicken salad is awesome. Great portions... fish and chips is also very good.

LOVE THIS PLACE!! I'm from LA, moved to NYC 6 years ago. This is the best sandwich spot I've ever been to. Ever. The steak and cheese is like a shredded steak it's so delicious . And definitely get it with the red hots (spicy pepper). All run by family and passed down from the father, it's so sweet. THANKS LOUIE AND FAMILY!!!! (Also very very clean) read more

Ordered the small steak bomb with bacon, minus the salami and added bacon instead. Sandwich was tasty. The service was warm and friendly. The girl that took our order was super sweet and attentive. Real nice beautiful energy from her. She made sure there was water for my service dog while I waited for my order to be ready. It was 90 degrees hot day and it was such a kind and thoughtful gesture. read more

Great childhood memories. as a child lived 3 streets over. My father would take me and my other siblings almost every Saturday for lunch. My father knew everyone there. Back then a sub would be about a 1.00 or so. Food and service were great. Then it would be to the Dairy Queen for want ever we wanted. Were the Dilly bars were only 10cent and a place where my father knew Mr. Lyons and family very well. Good old days well remembered. read more

George's Delicatessen - a view of a street corner - Delis Near Me - Lowell, Massachusetts

I was traveling in the Lowell Massachusetts area for work a couple of weeks ago and decided to stop in at George's delicatessen. I noticed that besides sandwiches they had fish and chips on the menu so I had to give it a shot. The piece of fish that was deep-fried for me was close to 12 inches long, which was awesome! The difference with these fish and chips is that the batter was very soft, but it was extremely flavorful and the whitefish was very enjoyable as well. The people there were super nice and the restaurant gave me that local feeling. read more

Started going here after I began dating a girl down the street, had one of the best goddamned Meatball subs ever! that was 1987! Been going back since, they changed the bread for the subs and that bummed me out big time, but the meatballs and sauce were still good. The girl I was dating's friend Tara apparently married the owners son and now they work their, very happy about this. I hope Tara and her husband get back to the old awesome sub rolls and continue to make Meatballs like in the 80s. Looking forward to another 30 more years of eating here! read more
