In the process of selling my car a prospective buyer asked me to take my car here to have Ben look at it. Ben informed me and the prospective buyer that my catalytic converters were missing. This was a shock to me. I have never had issues with this car and never had a check engine light come on. I had driven 30 miles to willingly have this mechanic check my car. I took the car to my mechanic the next day and was reassured within a few minutes that in fact the catalytic converters were intact and NOT missing. My mechanic suggested that I report Ben for giving me false information. Maybe he was just not knowledgeable about my car since he specializes in Honda but this was a unnecessary upsetting experience and I do NOT recommend this mechanic to anyone unless you like false information. read more

Took my car in to do the belt tensioner I had my own part and he put it in for $138 and after market part he put it in the car it made more noises then when I took it in and he told me that I needed a dealers part so I got him Dealership part he charged me $287 more plus the 138 to do the whole job my suggestion he shouldn't of charged 287 since I paid $138 the first time he should've taken it out but he said that he gave me a discount on labor charge me $46 instead of $92. I was told he was a good mechanic that I agree he's a good mechanic but it's not a good mechanic that charge us twice so I suggest you look around for another mechanic that will do an honest job. To me this job wasn't an honest yes I had an aftermarket part but since I got another part from him from dealer he should've taken out the first fee so I suggest if you going to take car into into this mechanic you should get a second opinion first then go back to the mechanic. So for one small job I paid over 470 bucks instead of 287 so you tell me if this mechanic was honest with me. read more

I had another experience with Ben that showed me he is working in my best interest. My Honda's rack and pinion when sour after only 23,000 miles. But since the warrenty is 3 years OR 36,000 miles, whichever comes FIRST, my car fell out of warrenty coz it is a little over 3 years old. I called Ben. However, he encouraged me to contact the corporation given the circumstances to see if they will cover it. If so take it to the dealer to have it repaired. And by golly, I took it to the dealer and they called the corporation. The corporation covered 75% of the cost. Without them covering part of the cost, it would have costed me over $1000. Wow! Now Ben could have just replaced the rack and pinion and just charged me full price. But he didn't. Now that is a good human being. BEST MECHANIC FOR HONDAS AND JAPANESE CARS EVER!!! I know he works on other cars too but his main specialty is Japanese cars. My family has owned like 8 hondas throughout the years but right now we have 4. Bin our go-to guy when we want good reliable but affordable service. I remember when my AC was broken so I took it to the dealership to get it fixed but they wanted to charge me several hundred just to run a diagnostic and see what the problem was... before actually adding in the price to fix it. Thus, I suffered without AC until I met Bin Tang who fixed it for a ridiculously low amount like $40!!! I was SO HAPPY! He's also fixed my brakes and other stuff for FAR less than the dealership. Not to mention his wife fed me while I was waiting for m my car! Seriously folks he's the best and most honest mechanic out here. NO ONE will charge you less than he will. read more

If you live in Riverside and you drive a Honda, check this place out if you need any repairs. The mechanic Bin specializes in fixing mainly Hondas but I'm pretty sure he also fix other brands too. Bin has helped me twice when it comes into fixing my car. Two years ago, he ordered and replace my horn for a very reasonable fee when it didn't work anymore. Recently, my auxiliary jack did not work anymore but my cable worked fine when I tested it out. I bought the OEM part at the Honda dealership because I am pretty sure they will charge me a lot for labor but when I called Bin, he only charged me 10 bucks to install. He told me to come by which I did and he seem pretty busy but he did manage to replace my jack as soon as possible and only charge me 10 dollars. Once again, thank you Bin for repairing my car! I will come back when I need any more repairs in the future. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! They are shady scam artists and really only care about cheating you out of your hard earned money! Had my Mercedes towed here after ALREADY diagnosing it had a bad starter. The tech, Ben, called me and said it would be $750 for a Mercedes starter and $450 for an aftermarket starter. I called to check prices and within minutes found a shop that was able to do the job for $200. When I called back to tell Genuine Tech that I was moving the car, they refused to release it unless I paid a $70 "diagnostic fee". What did they diagnose? I already told them it had a bad starter!! When I pleaded with them to at least have a conscious and be fair - that they were gouging innocent people - they didn't care. Shops like this should be shut down. AVOID!!! read more

This place doesn't need any more reviews, everybody who lives in the Corona/Riverside area knows Bin is the best mechanic in town! I have been going to him since I was 17 (I'm 28 now). He helped me get my first car (a broken down CRX) to run and I have been going to him ever since! He has been more than fair on his prices and to the person below complaining about the diagnostic fee. EVERY mechanic charges a diagnostic fee! They have to otherwise everybody would just bring their cars to the mechanic for a free diagnostic. I now live in San Diego and am driving all the way up to Riverside to get my Honda fixed. I have been a loyal customer since 2002 and I will never go anywhere else. They've always taken the time to explain things thoroughly and have even given me back the old parts that needed replacing.... so I'm actually able to see the broken hoses and the other problems for myself (Not that they have anything to prove to me anymore, I trust them completely). After getting my car fixed by them I've never once had to come back. They've worked on all 3 of the Honda's I owned and honestly I only buy Honda's because I never want to switch mechanics. This was my first and last time at this auto shop. I normally go to a shop 5 doors down in this plaza but sadly it looks like they went out of business. I came to Genuine Techs Inc to get an oil change at 3:30pm. It took a while for anyone to come to the front office, but I guess that's good cause they're working? When Bin came to see me in the office, he signed me up for an oil change and I asked him how long it would take. He said 30 minutes. I thought great, and this is a great price for my oil change! 1) I came back at 4:30 after walking to get something to eat. Lady behind the desk is chatting with another customer, then asks me what I need. I ask her if my car is done. She looks at papers confused and says to me "it's not done yet, come back in 10 minutes" then continues chatting with the other customer in the office about something not auto related. 2) come back in 10 minutes and she says, okay it's done. Have you ever been here before? I say no, so she takes another 15 minutes to enter me into the system. She swipes my card, has me sign the paper AND THEN asks me for my ID. I asked for what? She said for your card. (In my head I'm thinking, you've already charged me. I've already signed. Why are you now asking me for my ID?) For those 2 points being late, and being ridiculous, this place has lost 2 stars for me. It's now 5pm and I'm heading home. An hour and a half for a 30 min job. Let's hope they at least did good in changing my oil. The lights on my dash are off, for the moment. read more

I went to Genuine tech on the advice from a co-worker. Place is located in an industrial area of riverside (close to the train tracks) off Magnolia Ave. My front brakes were squealing pretty loud and had to be replaced. I called ahead and spoke to Doreen. I wanted to drop the car off and pick it up after work. She said that they that would be ok. I go there and to my luck I was the only customer there. It literally took 15 minutes from the time I got there to the time I paid and left the place. Talk about service! I don't think i overpaid for my brakes but I definitely feel like i did not get ripped off. Would definitely go back and recommend this place to others. They specialize in hondas and accuras but u might want to call and ask if they do others makes. read more

Two years ago I checked on Yelp to find a good mechanic in my area. The shop I normally go to was so busy that they couldn't work on my car for 3-4 days. I was very happy with my previous shop. Since that time I have used GT Auto. The reason I keep coming back is from my initial impression on bringing my Acura RDX in for a brake check. Bin checked them and said they were fine and didn't charge me. Since then both of my kids' Hondas have been serviced there with good and reasonable results. As a single female it's important to take your car to a trustworthy mechanic. This is the place! On this visit I had a "check transmission" warning light come on. Bin was able to take care of the fix quickly and cheaply (just a faulty switch) for roughly less than half of what the dealer would have cost me. Thanks Bin! read more

He never tries to up sell you or give you a bunch of mumbo jumbo about needing extra work or surprises you with all these other bogas things that need to be done. It is a mom and pop shop, so yeah don't expect all the bells and whistles that are just a facade for con artist mechanics anyway. Ben is the most honest mechanic I have ever met. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my vehicle. The guy with the 1 star rating is wanting something for free. Nobody should expect a mechanic to tear down something to properly diagnose and not pay for that if you don't let them finish the repairs. Ben's prices are the best and his work is the best period. I'd give Genuine Techs more stars if I could. They have always saved me money and did right by me. They return my bad parts and show me exactly what went wrong and why. I get my oil changed here as well as all maintenance. Ben never price gouges me. In fact he gives me options to help me save money and or get the best parts. Been coming here for 9 years for my honda. Family has been servicing here for 13 years. Bin is the master of honda/acuras. He has all the honda certificates and awards on the wall. I haven't seen anyone as good. They really try to save you money by giving you options. They also use genuine Honda parts which is becoming rare in almost all independent shops. If a shop doesn't use oem and can't prove it after the job, run from them. Our cars have been running strong and we never went back for the same issue. I know for a fact they have over a thousand customers so it can get busy on Saturday but were all loyal to this shop and will always be coming back. read more

I don't know why it's taken me this long to write this review!! I've been taking my cars to Bin for over 30 years! I took it to his apartment for many years on the weekend (he was working for Honda at the time). He has ALWAYS done quality, reliable work. And on top of that, he is HONEST. He returns worn parts, even though I tell him he doesn't need to. Just as most of the other reviews state, there is no one else I trust my cars to. To those that didn't give this shop high marks, yeah sometimes things happen, but the bottom line is you can trust your car will be well taken care of. If you want dealership lounges, then this is NOT the place for you. Your coffee machines, WIFI and air conditioning are not present here so go to the dealership and pay their prices for your comfort. But if you are looking for an honest mechanic that works SUPER hard then this is the place for you. Bin has struggled for many years making this shop work and only gets customers by "word of mouth" or by chance. He does not advertise, but as you can see he has a loyal customer base now. He has been in the business for a very long time and he is definitely an expert! He's honest, courteous, and professional. You'll never have to worry about him overcharging you or trying to tell you that something needs to be replace when it doesn't. He specializes in Acuras and Hondas but can work on any type of cars. We have Hondas, Acuras, Toyotas, Lexus, Audi's, Mercedes and also BMW in my family and he services them all. I've been a customer for over 15 years and it is their honesty and integrity, as well as Bin's in-depth knowledge of Hondas, that keeps me coming back. All the good things that other reviewers report are true. I have taken cars in suspecting that something needs to be replaced (like brakes) and Bin will check it out and tell me that the brakes will still last till the next oil change and send me off without charging me. You never have to worry that any unnecessary work will be done on your car.
