Came here all the way from Palm desert and it was closed for the day for some reason. Was a sign on the door. Decided to come back today, nearly 2 years later hoping it would be open. Yet another sign this time their fridge wasn't working...really bummed came out here for my wedding anniversary so we can enjoy a vegan meal but didn't work out that way. I am not normally a person to ever write reviews but I simply had to share my lovely experience here. It was my first time coming in, and as someone who has only been vegan for a few months, I absolutely loved this food. I got the gyro fries and brisket sandwich which were both delicious. I also tried their peanut butter brownie which was super good as well! They give large portions for a good price too. On top of everything, the customer service was amazing! I took a trip to Temecula for the weekend and was struggling to find good food for me. I have so many food restrictions that it's rare for me to find a place that has an entree I can eat besides a salad. I'm vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, and soy free - and it's always a mission to find a spot that accommodates all these requirements. This place was such a gem that we came here for lunch two days in a row. These guys really know how to do the jackfruit justice because their pork pulled nachos and sandwich both hit so good. My boyfriend eats meat but he said he wouldn't even be able to tell that his burrito was vegan. He rated his meal a 10/10. My friend, also a meat eater, loved her gyro sandwich and said she also couldn't tell the difference. The cauliflower bites and the gentle style fries were a hit too! I had this delivered, so I might not have had the full experience of their food. I'm mega excited that there's a full on vegan place though, so I'm going to try to get in there in person. In fairness, things were not as fresh and warm as they could have been because it was delivered via GRUBHUB. With that in mind though, the food itself could have been a tad better. I forgive the cold fries. Fries never recover after a car ride from delivery. I can tell I'd probably like them fresh though. The portion, described as small, was actually quite generous. I was excited to taste their vegan BLT. I surely miss those and bacon after turning vegan, (sometimes vegetarian) 7 years ago. The seitan was made at the restaurant and then marinated to taste like bacon. The texture and flavor were pretty darn good. Next time I'd ask for more seitan bacon though. The Beyond Burger... humm. Again, being delivered I need to give it a small break. But, to be totally honest? Carl's Jr and Burger King, do a better job of creating their plant based burgers, be it Beyond Burger or Impossible Burger. And that's comparing them with delivery. The bun was a potato bun, which has potential but it may have been one or two days on the shelf and seemed lacking in freshness. Sooo... I plan to go in there. I'm pretty sure after I do? We luckily found this place with the Happy Cow app and then saw the positive Yelp reviews. The reviews didn't lie. The food here was very delicious. We had two chicken sandwiches (one regular and one buffalo), gentle fries, and a salad. Everything was fresh and really tasty. Even though the menu didn't have prices listed, the food was reasonably priced. The sandwiches, which came with fries or salad, were about $15...cheaper and way tastier than a corporate restaurant like Islands. I also appreciated the music being played (some Motown and soul). This place was so exciting for her because she could finally EAT! We got the buffalo cauliflower bites and they were SO BOMB. The perfect texture, just the right amount of spice and breading, and not greasy. The buffalo sauce wasn't overpowering or sour which is typically why I don't go for buffalo. But these! I would eat daily. I got the gyro and as a meat eater, I wouldn't have known it was vegan! Texture and tzatziki sauce were on 10. I would totally come back here and bring friends! Driving through Temecula and found Gentle Grill on Google. Most of my family is Vegan, so it worked out good. At our house we do something called "High/Low" where we give our low and highlights of the day. Let me try that for this review. LOW - I ordered the Gentle Bowl and if I liked pesto, I'm sure I would of loved it but the explosion of pesto was overwhelming for my taste buds. It bummed me out a little bit that there was no indoor dining but that's a personal preference and I won't judge them for that. The outdoor seating was fine. HIGH - My family loves the cauliflower bites, nachos and the gluten free donuts put smiles on multiple faces. Their version of 'animal fries' was good too. The place itself is pretty basic in regards to appearance but they had some great vegan signs and decor on their walls that I liked a lot. You can see them on my pictures. The gentleman who served us (guessing the owner but nothing sure) was friendly and helpful and that always goes a long way for me. Oh my gosh this was the best meal I had the whole time I was in Temecula. I was so ecstatic to find a vegetarian place with such a great menu and it definitely did not disappoint. My sister had the burrito and she finished the whole thing when she did not mean to. She just couldn't help it. The chips that came with it were delicious. The chicken sandwich was well put together and had everything you would want in a chicken sandwich but it was meh to me. The star of the show was the Gyro Bowl. The seitan gyro is thinly sliced and perfectly flavored. The vegetables were all fresh and crispy. The tatziki was delicious. Loved everyone about this bowl. What drew me to this place is that they make their own seitan. I tried their brisket sandwich on ciabatta and their Cabo bowl which had quinoa, corn, black beans, jalapeños. I also love ciabatta bread. The bread soft too! The poutine fries didn't have gravy. It was more like cheesy fries with ground veggie beef. Still good good though! Not sure if it was because of COVID and it was take-out, but the fries were not crispy. The Cabo bowl was honestly underwhelming, because it sounded good and did taste good, but there wasn't anything super special about it. The crispy chk'n wasn't very crispy and tasted like it was fried and left aside to use when needed. The other ingredients were pretty standard and there was a hint of lime to add a little acidity. Visiting Temecula, I thought I'd indulge in some BBQ at one of the Western-themed eateries in the Old Town area, but, after reading several menus there, I realized that it was all turning me off and making me crave vegetarian or vegan food for lunch. (I am not a committed vegetarian or vegetarian or vegan, but I often lean that way....) So glad I found the Gentle Grill, a short drive from the Old Town of Temecula. Service is 5 stars -- super friendly. I had the Macho Burrito, a huge which I didn't love, with some mushy contents that didn't succeed in mimicking a meat and vegetables burrito. And that's something worth mentioning: many/most of the dishes on the menu appear to attempt to mimic meat-containing foods, which some people like and some don't. Anyway, I ate far too much of this mid-quality burrito, and my tummy was not so happy later -- but this was my fault . Based on this small sample, I'd rate food with a 3/5 Ambience: 2/5 Menu: 4/5 Prices: 4/5 People: 5/5 But I'm so glad that there is a vegan option in Temecula! Can't believe I waited a year to come back, especially it being the only entirely vegan restaurant in Temecula that I'm aware of. Honestly, it's just a little bit of a trek, but today reaffirmed that it is worth every second of that trek! Especially love the ability to grab food to go and head right over to the sports park for a picnic and to let the kiddo run around and while grazing through a leisurely lunch. Tried the gyro fries and nachos this time, and both were delicious. Given the prices I was thinking each would be a smaller portion, but was happily surprised that I had purchased the equivalent of about three fresh vegan meals for around $15! The kiddo had the chicken nuggets kids meal with fries, which you can't go wrong with (especially not for $5), and a sprinkle donut. The donut was moist and delicious. Definitely have to start making a habit of coming here more often, it has yet to disappoint and I've gotta do my part to help keep 'em in business if I want them to stick around. Been coming back here ever since--whenever I'm in town I try to stop by and support local businesses. This place has very affordable pricing for the items on the menu. Came here about an hour before closing and dined in. The staff was super helpful and food came out delicious. Ordered putin fries, gyro, tacos (special price for taco Tuesdays), and the giant cookie. The place was clean, the employees are friendly as always, the food was good/decent, and the price is very reasonable. Overall, highly recommended place and will most likely be back. read more
