Your eyes are to sensitive to be letting someone risk poking you with tweezers or getting some kind of glue in your eye (yes, that has happened to me). The woman who works here takes her time and wants to make sure you are completely 100% satisfied with her work! I will definitely be returning to see her again. I went yesterday, Monday, September 7, as a walk-in to have my builder gel removed and get a gel manicure. An older gentleman assisted me. Before starting, I communicated that my index finger was sensitive because I had recently bent it. I also explained that I wanted to try to keep some of my length, while understanding that some of my nails were fragile and that he might need to shorten them. He immediately seemed visibly frustrated. He cut my nails and then asked if the length was okay. I reiterated that my goal was to keep as much length as was appropriate, particularly so I could maintain an almond shape. We continued with the service. When it came time to choose a color, I asked if we could try one color and, if I didn't like it, potentially switch to another. He seemed frustrated by this and asked why we would have to do that. At that point, I stayed quiet, but I will admit that my guard was already up. He applied the first coat on one finger, and although I was hesitant about the color, I said we could proceed with that hand. After the first coat was applied to one hand, I asked if we could instead put two coats of another color over it to make the color lighter. I've had this done at other salons without any issue. The nail technician immediately became very upset and said it wasn't possible, that he would have to redo the entire thing, and that I shouldn't have told him to continue with the first color. He raised his voice at me. I acknowledge that I eventually raised my voice as well because I was extremely frustrated. I even pushed my chair back to gain space. I told him that he didn't need to have an attitude or speak to me that way and that I was doing my best to remain calm. He then said he didn't want me to get my nails done, make a complaint, and come back to have the service changed. I explained that I was specifically trying to avoid that situation, but at that point, the interaction had already ruined the experience for me. I told him I just wanted to finish the service and leave with the color that was already on my nails. He continued trying to convince me that the color looked fine. By that point, I had enough and told him to drop it and that I wanted us to continue the service in silence. He made several more attempts to reference the color, and I reiterated that this had already become a bad experience and that I simply wanted to finish my service. And now, less than a day later, my gel polish is already CHIPPING. Gel polish should absolutely not be chipping the very next day. Overall, I would not recommend this salon based on my experience. The attitude and customer service were extremely disappointing. I was very shocked that the manager or supervisor did not step in or intervene but instead them and the other nail techs just observed. I also want to point out that, even with pedicures, they do not appear to use liners or provide new individual tools such as clippers, nail pushers, buffers, etc., the way other salons I've been to do. That's another reason I personally would not return. If you're in the area, I would recommend checking out Nailosophy or Purity Nail Bar instead. I honestly regret not going to one of them.

I really wish I sorted the reviews so I could have read the eventual negative outcomes of all of the other clients that left thoughtful reviews. Anyway.. I was a loyal customer for 3 years and referred MANY people to Rema - which makes this story bizarre and pathetic (on the part of the business). I will not make the mistake of referring anyone ever again to Rema and plan on letting everyone I've ever referred there know the terrible way they treat customers. I called to make my usual appointment and I should have realized that something was wrong when I did not get a call back the first time. Instead I tried calling back again a week later. Again I received no reply. As I said I was a LOYAL customer so I tried one last time calling back for the third week in a row to leave a message asking for an appointment. I finally got a call back in the 4th week from the husband of Rema (he is mentioned many, many times throughout Yelp reviews and typically in a negative way - I wish I had paid more attention and tried to sort for the negative reviews before because these girls were so right and were telling the truth). Rema's husband, Abraham, called back and told me after being a loyal customer for 3 years "you will need to take your business elsewhere because Rema takes too long doing your eyebrows." Try to let that sink in a moment. I - the customer - am getting blamed and told to go elsewhere because "Rema takes too long" doing my eyebrows. I think the madness and craziness of that statement speaks for itself so I don't think there is a need to go into how completely psychotic that statement really is. If you sort the Yelp reviews for Gentle Eyebrow Threading by negative first (which I finally did after 3 years), you will see many others that had similar experiences (I believe Kris, Parson, Ess, and on, and on, and on). I don't know many businesses (or ANY businesses) that turn away loyal customers of 3 years for the reason that the business person is taking too long on that customer. When I tell people this story the first reaction I get is "you're joking/kidding, right?" No, I am not kidding. More than psychotic, It is sad and pathetic that this is the way a business would reward a customer that has been loyal and has referred many other customers/brought business to you. I really hope I saved another person the terrible experience I went through. PLEASE LISTEN TO THESE REVIEWS. They are not lying and have no agenda. I can vouch for all of these other people because it just happened to me. And if you want to talk to me personally, I can show you receipts, give you appointment dates/times, and names of other people I have referred to prove I am telling the truth. I have no agenda, I just hope to save the next person from what I actually went through in dealing with these terrible, terrible, people. read more

I have been going to Rema for over a year now and I cannot put into words how amazing she is. On my first visit, I told her I am Armenian and did not like my eyebrows too thin. She is Jordanian so she understood exactly what i meant (its the middle-eastern/ Mediterranean thing) Now ,every time i go in, without fail, she does EXACTLY what I want her to do. She is so talented in her forming an arch or keeping up (or bettering) the one you already have. She is incredibly precise in her threading and you may even notice that in the beginning she measures your eyebrows against your nose and brow line with the thread to ensure that she does them symmetrically- at the end she proofs the measurements. Sometimes, I look in the mirror and I say to myself "I don't need to go, they are not long enough, she wont have anything to work with" - then I end up going anyway and when i come out I look like a brand new person. She is so talented. Further, she is INCREDIBLY accommodating with appointments. I work downtown Monday through Friday 8-5 and traffic is horrendous. If I call a week in advance (or sometimes even only 2 days before)- she will squeeze me in wherever she can and has even offered to stay a few minutes late to accommodate me. Her husband Abraham is so very nice and ALWAYS calls back when you leave a voice mail. Now, my sister, my two best friends, and my 14 year old cousin (who just got her eyebrows threaded for the first time ever last night and said it didn't hurt her AT ALL), all go to Rema and all LOVE her. She is so incredibly sweet and bubbly and truly is the BEST of Boston. I will be going to Rema for as long as she remains in this state- and if she moves, I may just pack my bags and move with her! read more

I went to this place based on the other reviews as the place I usually go to is closed temporarily. I thought all threading was equal but I was wrong after going to Rema. I have thick eyebrows and I asked her just to remove the strays. When she was done she showed me her work and I was almost in tears. She took off so much in the middle that the space looks so unnatural it's also uneven, one eyebrow is longer than the other. The only positive thing I can say is that I did not realize how much she was taking off as it didn't hurt that much. If you have thick eyebrows and you want them to stay thick and even then do not go to Rema. I recommend the Threading Spa in the Chestnut Hill Mall they are truly the best and I had to go to Rema to realize this. They are also cheaper, Rema is way overpriced, all other places are much less and they do better work. Now I am counting the days until my eyebrows grow back!!!!! To address the comments from Rema below, I removed my original comment because she pretty much told me she would take legal action, I'm not looking for that. I just wanted to post my honest feedback. I am not the competition I was a true customer and this is my honest feedback, I am not looking to damage anyone's business this is just my opinion. Rema does cost more than most threading salons but it would be worth the money if you received a good service or could justify it in some way. But the service here is the worst I've ever had in any salon, period. If I could give negative stars I would. Here are the many reasons why: 1. Good luck trying to even get an appointment here (they never call back!) To try make an appointment you have chase them down. It took 3 or 4 times before I could even get a call back to get an appointment! 2. They are way overpriced ($20 to thread brows!) Rema does not thread your eyebrows with thread made of 24 carat gold and there isn't anything special that she does so why is it $20 (before the tip) for threading here when most places in the ENTIRE Boston/Brookline/Cambridge area are AT MOST $12 (even on Newbury Street it doesn't cost that much!) 3. The husband is rude and nasty. They act like they are doing YOU the favor for giving you the chance to chase them down for an appointment and overpay for their services. 4. There are WAY too many other options for threading/brow salons in Boston where you can be treated with kindness so there is no need to waste your time/money for mediocre, overpriced service. read more

Now this is my story with Rema. Last Friday i went to Rema, and yes the place was busy but since i booked an appointment she took me right on time, so i have never done threading before but i have done waxing before. Threading is ALOT different from waxing because while Rema was doing my eyebrows she told me that with waxing it pulls not only the hair but the upper layer of the skin as well. After i was done i met her husband, Abraham. He was very nice and was very professional...............While Rema was doing my eyebrows i noticed that there were 2 walk/ins who would want Rema to take them and her husband told them that Rema could not take them now because she had 3 other appointment's back to back. So he advised them to book an appointment's for a different day since the other clients were waiting outside.....So MY advice to everyone is to call ahead before making an appointment. LOOK HERE GUYS..The Guy IS AWESOME..HE IS TRULY AN ARTIST..I went there after I booked an appointment..the lady was extremely busy..the guy..I think his name was Abraham..took me in on time..since I had very thin eyebrows..it is always a problem trying somewhere new..I am always afraid..so I think he felt that..he told me:don't worry..if you felt uncomfortable at anytime just let me know..he asked me if I am allergic to Aloe vera..which I am not..he addressed that I have some tiny spaces in my eyebrows we need to work on because I was tweezing areas I should not be tweezing before.. Being from NYC, and ADORING the precision of threading, I have been all too disappointed to not find threading on every block ala New York, however after meeting Rema and going to Gentle Eyebrow Threading I have had not just my hope restored but my day was made complete by Rema's wonderful and personable self, and consummate customer service. My eyebrows look amazing, so gorgeous and arched perfectly. She listens intently and actually looks you in the eye giving you her full attention. I was tired and really not feeling up to going out but I am so glad I did... she took her time and was not in a hurry. I loved this experience, and will continue going there every month. I had never had threading before and I was anxious to try it. After reading these reviews, I decided to go see Rema. I didn't realize her shop closes at 4:30 Mon-Thurs and I showed up just after 4:30 and though she was on her way out, she still kindly accommodated me. She studied my eyebrows then asked me what I wanted done. I have very thick eyebrows and wanted to give having them thinner with a more defined arch a try. Wow! They came out perfect! My brows have never looked better! And it was not painful at all. Much, much better than waxing, and Rema is an artist! Finally I am in the right place... I had a scar in the middle of my left brow, I always felt so bad that my brows do not look like everyone else , I came to this place as a walk in last Sat and I saw this gentleman named Abraham there ,He saw my eyebrows and he said: don't worry ..and he started working..he did alot of trimming..and alot of threading..when he did give me the mirror at the end..I did not see my scar anymore..this is the best shape I had ever had with my eyebrows..This is my new favorite place ! read more

I have done threading a lot in CA ,I thought CA is the best to get eyebrow threading until I came to this place and i saw ABRAHAM ,The truth is I was little nervous ,but his way of doing threading and the way he talking about it makes me so relaxed . I called yesterday to get my eyebrow and lip done.. it was very short of a notice to get it done the same day especially with Rema since she is always busy.. Abraham worked something out and got me in ..... Rema was wonderful. I didn't have an appointment, but she was able to see me right away. This was the first time I had my eyebrows threaded, and she explained the process as she went along. It was on the expensive side, but the place was very clean and Rema was extremely professional. She is also a very sweet person! Loved it!! Highly recommend going to Rema. I just went today for the first time and my brows look so PERFECT I had to write this review asap (this is how I found her in the first place). I usually get them threaded at the chestnut hill mall (and there is one girl that does a pretty nice job but its nothing like this). I'm truly impressed. It's a regular chair. Sure, it's not for a huge amount of time, but really, it's not comfortable.
