Boston threading in Brighton is the best! I've been going here for awhile now, usually every 2-3 weeks without fail. They are a chain of threading places, but I've only been to the Brighton one. The Brighton location is cheaper than the other locations, and there's usually 1-2 women working. The staff changes depending on the day, but as you go more frequently you'll figure out who works best with your brows. I've gotten some "just ok" clean ups, but never any bad ones. Sometimes I've gotten rashes afterward but that might be because of how sensitive my skin is. It's only $12, the place is clean, and you're out in under 15 minutes with fresh brows - what's not to love? If you can, try and avoid the after work crowd. Weekends usually aren't too crowded. They do prefer cash, so I always make sure to have some on hand when I go although it looks like paying with card is easy as well! read more

I have been here several times now. Service is quick, staff has always been friendly, and they do a great job. Eyebrows cost $15 total, which is pretty much expected for the Boston area. I have always been happy with the end results. With covid going on right now, they have taken great measures to help keep customers and staff safe. Appointments need to be made in advance. Staff wears gloves, sanitizes the chair, masks are required, staff is masked up, and they wear a face shield. I definitely recommend coming here and I will continue to be a regular customer. read more

1/18/20 I've been coming here for a while but this happened. I specifically asked the threader NOT to fix this area because it is sparse there and this is what happened. It is very obvious that a patch is missing. I asked her to stop touching this brow after but she kept trying to touch it up and I asked her please do not touch this eyebrow anymore. Considering how upset I was, I was very polite in asking her to please do not fix this eyebrow, but she kept going back after she cleaned up my other brow. I asked her to let me look at the second brow half way and she kept trying to keep me lying down. I am still extremely upset about this. This is really obviously poorly done job. With the number of bad experiences I've had here at this point, I don't think I can take the risk of coming back anymore. TLDR; hit or miss with threaders. When it misses it REALLY misses read more

It's cheap and really convenient because I live nearby, but I wouldn't come again. I booked an appt online to get my upper lip threaded and waited about 15 minutes past my appt time. There was another person waiting when I walked in, so they must've been behind. I understand things happen, so that's totally fine. The reason I won't be coming back is because I didn't think they were hygienic. I did not see the woman change her gloves for the person in front of me or for myself. I also didn't see her use hand sanitizer in between appointments either. I personally just find that really unappealing, and would rather pay more to know that the place is run properly. read more

BU location is usually staffed by an impatient older woman. Left an obvious gap in one of my eyebrows and doesn't start appointments on time because she is busy blasting TV shows and the news in another language on her phone. I listen to music with earbuds during appointments to distract from the pain and twice she knocked one out and did not apologize or pick it up, leaving it on the floor at the end for me to search for as she went back to the register. Her way of speaking and gestures are rude, possibly because she doesn't know enough English to sound pleasant. read more

I been coming to Boston threading for 3-4 years now and today (Thursday) I got a old lady working at this Brighton location. I never seen her before but I had a bad feeling the moment I walked in. She was so rough with my brows and my face as she was threading my brows. She cut so much of my eyebrows off. Just AWFUL. My brows are all messed up now. Do not go on Mondays, there is a woman who works that day who has no idea what she's doing. I went asked for a clean up and to please keep my eye brows long and thick. I told the woman that last time I got my eyebrows done elsewhere they made them to short at the start and to not even touch that area and now I have a full bald spot at the start of my left eyebrow and they are super thin and uneven. I've been here more than 20 times, and will say that it's the only place I go in Boston, but the outcome does vary depending on who you get (it changes daily or weekly because I think the girls rotate across Boston locations). For the most part, I'm very happy with how my eyebrows look after the session. But there were a few times where I explicitly said "please do not make my eyebrows thinner than they are" and end up with eyebrows that bring back memories of the over-plucking 2000s. It then takes me a month or two to wait for the cavewoman inside to rage and grow it out. I've also noticed that I've gotten thread cuts or bumps if the session was a bit too harsh, which has happened a handful of times. As many have mentioned here, Ranju is great. I'm always pleased with my eyebrows after she does them, so you can't go wrong requesting her! read more

Beware! My daughter has been to the Kenmore location before, but today marks the LAST time she will ever go there. After many years of growing out her eye brows and shaping them so beautifully (people literally stop her on the street and tell her how tell her how gorgeous they are), today they were literally threaded off her face in a matter of seconds. I have no idea what the girl was thinking (or not thinking), but she literally took all but a single line of hair off!!! So in tears my daughter is now trying to brush whatever strand of hair is left behind and will have to draw them back in for months to come. Never again! read more

This used to be my regular go to for a full face thread, which costs me about 40+ every 2 weeks (35+tip). My hair grows quickly so I tend to be in every 2-3 weeks regularly on thursday afternoons as that was what fit my very hectic schedule best. They do a decent enough job that had me going there regularly and that warrants 3 stars for their work; however, the last time I was there, the person that normally does my eyebrows says to me as I'm checking out that she's noticed I come in on thursdays and she wants me to start coming in on Friday's instead because people who come in after me while I'm there have to wait about 20 min for her to finish with me... Now mind you, I'm a regular paying customer, they had earned my business up until that point in time, but why is my business less important than other customers'? If I came in first and I'm paying more in services+ tip than the 2 ppl that came in after me, you'd think you'd make sure that I felt taken care of and not rushed or pressured to change my schedule around to fit your needs, because you have other customers you'd prefer to get in and out quickly. It left a bad taste in my mouth knowing that I thought I had built a relationship and found a decent place to get my face threaded, and felt rushed and were very rude in their approach. So, I am now taking my business somewhere else entirely, and I've found myself a new place I actually like much better. read more

Let me preface this by saying I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, especially for local businesses. I haven't always had negative experience, but the inconsistency merits a 2 star rating... I have only been to this and the Newbury St location. I've always been pleased with my experience at the Newbury salon; the staff are experienced, polite, and gentle. At the Washington St location in Brighton Center, however, I usually have a worse time. One of the staff members is good, but another (which I've seen more often), is very unprofessional and rude. The most recent time I visited, I had to wait 30 or so minutes, which was fine, it was a weekend so pretty busy, that wasn't anyone's fault. But as soon as I sat in the chajr, instead of thanking me for waiting or preferably, not commenting on it all, she started saying I need to come in with an appointment, why didn't I, what was I thinking, etc. I felt a little bit uncomfortable after this, not least because I **have** come in with an appontment more than once in the past, and still had to wait 20+ minutes past my appointment time because I requested a full face thread and she didn't want to make everyone else wait... it's a no-win situation. The staff member went on to comment on how much less hairy I was than the client before me, which also made me uncomfortable, like.... thanks I guess? It felt really unprofessional. Near the end of the threading session, she also asked rhetorically "why I have such a big forehead" ... which I guess could've been a joke, but didn't feel nice, seeing as I had just shelled out 40 dollars + tip (she literally stared at me when the tip screen came up) for your professional expertise, not digs at my appearance. I also watched her repeatedly insist that a person before me's brows were fine and moved her towards the counter to pay, while the customer looked stressed and was actually tearing up, and obviously not fine with her results. Luckily, my actual threading results were OK, although not as good as other staff at this and Newbury st locations, and I've been overplucked before by this same staff member. Although, I do have one ingrown eyebrow as a result of this appointment I'll probably avoid this location in the future since it's such a gamble on who you get, but the prices are the same across all locations, and pretty reasonable for the area (especially Newbury St) so it's not all bad! I want to believe the staff member I described above was just having a bad day, and maybe she was, but I also want to emphasize experiences like the one described above are not an anomaly here. Maybe it needs to be appointment-only, or they need more than one person working at.peak times? read more

If I could give the experience that I just had zero stars, I would. I asked for a simple cleanup - I have naturally very thick and coarse brows, and get them threaded and trimmed to keep them manageable. I was assured that thats all that would happen, and I've been here before so I trusted the technicians assurances. My previous experiences were fine- not great, but passable, considering all I ever came in for was a cleanup. Today was not even Mediocre, it was god awful. I've been left with BLOODY , early 2000's tadpoles brows that even my middle school self would be embarrassed to sport. I am thoroughly disgusted with the result and would NOT recommend that anybody go to Boston Threading. I'm embarrassed that the public has to see brows this bad. Beware. read more

I've been coming to Ranju at Boston threading for years. Take my over-plucked 90s eyebrows that never really grew back in and mix Ranjus skills- you have the best my brows can look. She is knowledgeable in eyebrow growth, in the appropriate shape for your face, and how to care for your brows in between appointments. She honestly listens to what it is you want and does not over-thread (we all know that hairdresser who cuts too much!!) I skipped out on going to her for over a year as I was pregnant and now am a new mom. My brows grew in enough that I could fill them in and thought I could get away with this look for good. Until I realized how drawn in they were. I reconnected with Ranju yesterday and she just gave this mama a confidence boost with my groomed brows! Why did I wait a year?? I'm sure all of the people who work in her establishment (there are 4 now!!) are amazing- but she certainly is my go to. If you try to catch her you have to call to see which location she is in as she is in each a different day. Brighton has the easiest for parking but other locations certainly could be convenient if you work in the downtown area. This is the place to go! read more

This threading salon is right in the middle of Washington Square and it's perfect for anyone who's having a #treatyoself kind of day. You can get your eyebrows threaded here, get your hair done at Annie's Salon next door, and get your mani/pedi at Paris Nails across the street. I wish I thought've that earlier. Anyways, needless to say -- their service is excellent. I walked in after my hair appointment next door and they were able to see me right away. I went to Boston threading to get my eyebrows done. The woman who did my eyebrows was kind and understanding of the fact that my eyes get sensitive and teary when I get my eyebrows threaded. You don't have to make an appointment; you can walk in and get seated very quickly. So great service all around. They don't take long at all and the price is reasonable. They also offer a $10 for $12 Deal at Boston Threading through Yelp. If you are driving, parking is pretty tricky. It's hard to find street parking there, so keep that in mind. read more

This place is bomb. I repeat: BOMB! There can be a few people ahead of you if you go during rush hour, which is usually from 5-close. However, the only one that I will let touch my brows is Ranju--she's amazing, and whenever I get my brows done by her people think I filled them in (in a good way). However, I just went to get them done by some other woman that works there (I don't know her name) and they didn't come out as good as they usually do; that's why I had to deduct a star. As promised, I'm updating my review after 3 additional visits. I wanted to ensure that my first experience wasn't just a one-time deal and that my brows are consistently (and expertly) shaped each time. My apologies for the novel below. This is the only place I'll go to get my eyebrows shaped in Boston. I'm surrounded by a plethora of other threading options and I still trek 30-45min to come here. Ranju is truly a brow virtuosa who can work her magic! She makes the experience pleasant and she actually listens to what you want. If you ask her not to change the shape, or not to make them too thin, she'll simply clean them up. However, my advice is to let her have at it and perfect your brow shape! Listen to her - if she tells you to grow your brows out, try as hard as you can to leave them alone. It took a couple visits (and loads of self control), but now my brows are PERFECT. I've been complimented a half dozen times in the past 2 hours while running errands. Ranju really understands how brows can create visual balance and enhance your natural beauty. She's meticulous, gentle, and doesn't rush you out (even when there's a line of customers). I'm very particular about my brows as I am a firm believer that they frame one's face and can dramatically change how one looks. I can't recommend Boston Threading enough. Check this place out if you want perfect arches! P.S. I've had my entire face threaded twice now and she does a great job - got every single hair, no traumatized/cut skin (surprising how dangerous threading can be), and extremely gentle. I agree with the reviewers so far. I came in because of the Groupon deal in Boston and was extremely satisfied with the entire experience. The space itself is smaller and cozier, very typical for a brand new business. It was cute, intimate, and well kept. I appreciate the later evening hours for those of us getting out of work. So ditto to how caring and attentive Ranju is. She commented on the shape of my brows and gave tips on how to maintain brows in between threading sessions. She let me examine one brow before doing the other to make sure I was happy with it. And I most definitely was happy. Bottom line, I will be returning to this place for my threading needs! Wonderful experience. Ranju was delightful. I have very light eyebrows and when I've gotten them waxed it's hard to tell a difference. But I could totally see a difference when she was finished. By far the best threading place I have ever been to, and that's not an easy statement for me to make. Coming from an eyebrow fanatic, trust me when I say Ranju is the best. She deserves 5+ stars. I needed an eyebrow place for the summer as I worked in boston, and yelp did not disappoint in helping me find the best. The location is right off the 57 bus line and is cute and clean. I came in with 2 different shaped eyebrows (courtesy of prior botched threading experience) and Ranju told me they would be perfect and even by the end of the summer..and they are!! She's very efficient, and has a natural knack for understanding how deal with eyebrow shapes. Also, she is incredibly sweet and makes the visit an absolute delight! It was also super quick. I had to wait about five minutes for her to finish with another client, but I just walked in. Then I was done in less than ten minutes! Ranju is amazing! I've only been here a few times, but each time has been great. Having very thick eyebrows, I'm a little nervous when going to a new person but Ranju does a superb job and she's my go-to person in Boston. She's also very sweet and tries to keep the process as painless as possible. I didn't even need to tell her how I wanted them threaded -- I would recommend just letting her do what she does best! It's never been super busy when I've gone -- it's a very small place with a couch and two chairs (excluding the chair she threads in). Even when I had to wait, it was never more than 5 or 10 minutes. I am very fussy when it comes to my eyebrows and I find this lady excellent. On my first visit she simply tidied up my brows and even noticed how slightly thicker one was and fixed it. She was hygienic but most of all gentle & afterwards my skin didn't feel sore at all (which can sometimes happen with threading in my experience) $10 is a bargain too! Ranju, you are absolutely amazing! I haven't gotten my eyebrows professionally done in about half a year (and felt like a cavewoman), I usually cleaned them up myself. And as my graduation and formals were approaching, I decided to let my brows grow out (it was very painful lol), and give Boston Threading a chance. Some of my girlfriends recommended me to try this place and I now am a believer. I walked in on a random day and waited for the three ladies ahead of me to go. When it was finally my turn, Ranju greeted me with a friendly smile and asked me what I wanted. I told her I wanted my face to be clean and asked her if I should do full face or which areas I needed to get done? She told me my brows, a little bit of my forehead, and sides needed some touching up and off she went! She didn't try to upsell me, which showed me just how genuine she is! She did my brows, forehead, sides, and even upper lip. She only charged me for my brows and sides because she said it wasn't my full forehead and upper lip so she felt it wasn't needed to charge me extra.
