After my lash extensions I woke up with a painful red eye. I got worried and went to eye urgent care thinking maybe it was an allergic reaction. The ophthalmologist had seen this before and explained it was a chemical burn that often happens when the eye pads are poorly placed so that the fumes from the adhesive get in the eye. Please be mindful of your appointments and their 24 hour policy as I forgot due to illness and didn't want to expose anyone to flu symptoms but was charged a deposit for the missed appointment. They are closed on Sundays so how are you supposed to give 24 hours notice if your appointment is on Monday? Also, I would look into the keratin chemicals they are putting on your eyes. Jacqueline R. This was my first and last experience getting a lash lift and the results weren't as expected and some of my lashes still remained the same. I came for a lash lift, and I've had many lash lifts before. It was an overall good experience, although the woman helping me didn't fully tape my lower lashes on one side, which meant later she needed to fix that once the perm stuff had gotten on them. At the end, I was content with my lashes, although she should've definitely opted for a smaller rod to get more of a curl. The main bad thing I want to comment on though was the receptionist. I got a set of dramatic lashes with a 30 min. foot massage, and both were phenomenal. I apparently had three different lash techs working on me during my visit, but I honestly didn't notice -- the techs were so gentle, deliberate, and quiet, I had no idea! The bed (table?) was very comfortable, private, and calming. I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep... this may not seem surprising, except that I had just had a coffee and haven't taken a nap since I was a child. My foot massage was amazing. I could drool thinking about it. Their masseuse, like their lash techs, is a PRO. This place is fantastic, and they take their work seriously. My lashes look long, dramatic, and surprisingly natural with NO discomfort. I am already trying to determine what I need to give up in order to get regular lash extensions and foot massages into the budget... this might be the thing that finally gets me to quit smoking. I absolutely love the way my eyelashes look. I've received countless compliments on them. The process.... didnt even notice them. Every time I visit Lash L'amour either for a set or a touch up, I'd doze off on their spa beds during my session. They are so gentle and informative that sometimes I don't even realized I'm being worked on. About 1 and half to 2 hours later, I have luscious lashes on. I've gone to a different lash extension place in the past and boy were they unprofessional. It was not worth my time and my eyelashes were abused. They were so rough on them that by the end of the session I was about to cry. I just wanted to pull out all of my extensions. Lash L'Amour is one of the hidden little jewels of Newton Center, and although I would rather keep my secret to myself I will share with Yelpers out there! This past Labor Day weekend I was set to marry the man of my dreams! Unfortunately my eye brows were in major need of some reshaping, and my eye lashes well as wonderful as they are it was my wedding day and I wanted some va va voom effect especially with all the professional photos that would be taken that weekend. I went in on a Monday afternoon and although I was nervous to get my eyebrows threaded and have eye lash extensions put on I was immediately put right ot easy the environment is extremely serene, the staff makes you feel like a queen,the facilites are EXTREMLY CLEAN and welcoming, and I was able to take a nap I was so comfortable while my eyelashes were put on. The end result of the extensions was I was OVER THE MOON on how fabulous they came out and was even told to come back at the end of the week for a FREE touch up to make sure I was happy with my new extensions and I was in the va va voom state I wanted to be in when I got married. During my follow up treatment I made the appointment to get my eyebrows threaded by a girl named Zhaleh, who is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. She like the rest of the staff went above and beyond to make me feel wonderful. I explained to her that I had never had threading done, but she said not to worry and explained the process to me, that it was alot healthier for you then waxing and would last a little bit longer along with allowing me to keep the shape longer. I was sold. Although the sound of the thread was not that appealing to me the process was quick and painless and the results were unlike anything! My eyes looked AMAZING. It was worth every penny, I just received my professional photos and it made me cry because you could see through my eyes everything I was feeling with all the joy and happiness throughout the day. Oh boy... so here goes the review I've been a bit hesitant to write. I read all the amazing reviews and was VERY excited to try this place out (and lash extensions in general, as I'd never done it before). I typically wear strip lashes nearly daily, so I thought extensions would be a great change (despite the exorbitant price to keep it up!). I went in for a dramatic set- the place is very cute, relaxing- all in all, top notch. The person I had (who will remain nameless b/c I feel bad saying this), though friendly enough, had really awful breath. =( I feel terrible even writing this, but I mention it because it made the entire experience un-relaxing... Your person will be right in your face for 2 hours, so you may understand that this became a bit annoying. Normally, I'd brush it off, but for that long, paying around $300, you kind of want to relax and enjoy. It got to the point where I was holding my nose (not literally, you know) and breathing through my mouth.. and I would take a 'break' to breathe through my nose every now and then when she moved her head away to get more lashes. =( ohh... it wasn't nice. Anyway, once I saw the results, I was instantly disappointed. I have regular east-asian eyelashes- if anything, they are a tad bit fuller than some (which, still, is not much).. and the result was ho-hum. I think I was expecting them to look like when I wear strip lashes, which look obvious and perfect. These looked "natural," and more importantly, pretty unnoticeable. * customer service * Now this is nice- they give you a free re-fill / consultation a week after you come in, so I did so and let them know I wasn't actually that thrilled with my set. The owner, who was wonderful, touched them up (and spent another 2 or so hours, taking it seriously!) and gave me a "luxurious" set at no extra cost. They were more to my liking, but I still wasn't as happy with the look as I had hoped. All in all, the problem w/ me was that they use synthetic lashes, which are (and feel like) plastic. If I ever feel up to trying extensions again, I will go with synthetic mink or regular mink. read more

Loved my experience at Lash L'Amour. I purchased a voucher for a natural set through ruelala last year and was really happy with the results. The lash expert I worked with was named Wendy. She was careful and precise and I didn't feel any discomfort, almost falling asleep during the process. The following week(s) I received a lot of compliments on my lashes. The best part about Lash L'Amour is that they offer a complimentary 15min touch-up session within 7days of application. During the touch-up session, Wendy took off a few and added more for an even fuller look. I loved that the lashes looked really natural but noticeable. I like even more that they lasted several weeks (if you take care of them). The only complaint I have has to do with maintenance - you can't get your eyes/lashes wet for the first 24hrs and I pretty much avoided getting them wet for the weeks following. But this complaint has nothing to do with Lash L'Amour whatsoever. It's just a part of the deal if you get extensions. I would definitely go back if I could only afford it on a regular basis! read more

i didnt go there for eyelash extensions but instead for the very first time i tried out EYEBROW EXTENSIONS! I never heard of it and I have very short eye brows, i am not a fan of tattooing or drawing in my eyebrows to extend it to the length i wanted. I went to Lash L'amour after reading great reviews here on Yelp and after looking at their website and learning that their owner was trained by Hollywood's lash guru, Daniel Dinh! My specialist Erica was amazing. She started by cleaning my lashes, then she put a protective tape to cover my bottom lashes, and then finally she began affixing my new lashes very carefully -- one lash at a time. The entire procedure was totally painless. I was lying on massage-like beds the entire time and felt very relaxed. I absolutely love my eyelash extensions AND my experience at Lash L'Amour. I was super nervous about getting eyelash extensions after seeing some bad eye jobs, but found Lash L'amour and decided to go for it. From the moment I walked in, I felt comfortable. We went over in detail the look I was going for and I definitely think we achieved it. The salon is lovely and the bed/table was as comfortable as a non-bed thingy can be for about 1.5 hrs. My eyelashes look great and I'm heading back for a check-in soon. The glue didn't bother my slightly sensitive eyes and I haven't had any discomfort with them. The *ONLY* thing that bugged me was there for 1.5 hrs of just laying still, there isn't much privacy. I don't need privacy but what I also don't need to hear is the woman directly across from me gabbing on and on and on and on about her divorced 20 years ago. She was so loud and it lasted the ENTIRE time I was there. I've heard people fall asleep while there, but that was never going to happen for me. I was really skeptical about getting lash extensions. Research online showed me some sketchy looking establishments and mediocre reviews, but then I found Lash L'Amour through Gilt. Yelp showed good reviews so I gave them a chance. Their customer service is fantastic. Seriously, fantastic. The receptionist is polite, the staff is welcoming, and the atmosphere is all around tranquil and relaxing. They even have contact solution for you in the bathroom! Still, I wasn't sure how much I loved my extensions at first (I'm still getting used to having glue on my lashes). But given a week, I started to realize how I wouldn't be able to part with my new lashes. So I went back for the complimentary touch-up and again, I was wowed by their customer service. They were accommodating of my schedule and easily fit me into theirs for a short notice appointment. YES, I recommend Lash L'Amour and yes I will tell everybody about it. Lash L'Amour is the second place that I have tried for eyelash extensions and I must say they blow the other place out of the water!!! I wish I had found them first. The staff is super friendly and accommodating, offering tea upon your entrance, hanging your jacket, even putting quarters in the meter so I didn't get a parking ticket. I love that this salon focuses on LASHES!!! They know what they are doing and the results are amazing! What really blew me away was when I went in for my first fill at L'Amour. As she started it felt like she was taking some of my lashes off. When I questioned her about it she informed me that she was removing the loose lashes!! I couldn't believe it!
