I went yesterday, Monday, September 7, as a walk-in to have my builder gel removed and get a gel manicure. An older gentleman assisted me. Before starting, I communicated that my index finger was sensitive because I had recently bent it. I also explained that I wanted to try to keep some of my length, while understanding that some of my nails were fragile and that he might need to shorten them. He immediately seemed visibly frustrated. He cut my nails and then asked if the length was okay. I reiterated that my goal was to keep as much length as was appropriate, particularly so I could maintain an almond shape. We continued with the service. When it came time to choose a color, I asked if we could try one color and, if I didn't like it, potentially switch to another. He seemed frustrated by this and asked why we would have to do that. At that point, I stayed quiet, but I will admit that my guard was already up. He applied the first coat on one finger, and although I was hesitant about the color, I said we could proceed with that hand. After the first coat was applied to one hand, I asked if we could instead put two coats of another color over it to make the color lighter. I've had this done at other salons without any issue. The nail technician immediately became very upset and said it wasn't possible, that he would have to redo the entire thing, and that I shouldn't have told him to continue with the first color. He raised his voice at me. I acknowledge that I eventually raised my voice as well because I was extremely frustrated. I even pushed my chair back to gain space. I told him that he didn't need to have an attitude or speak to me that way and that I was doing my best to remain calm. He then said he didn't want me to get my nails done, make a complaint, and come back to have the service changed. I explained that I was specifically trying to avoid that situation, but at that point, the interaction had already ruined the experience for me. I told him I just wanted to finish the service and leave with the color that was already on my nails. He continued trying to convince me that the color looked fine. By that point, I had enough and told him to drop it and that I wanted us to continue the service in silence. He made several more attempts to reference the color, and I reiterated that this had already become a bad experience and that I simply wanted to finish my service. And now, less than a day later, my gel polish is already CHIPPING. Gel polish should absolutely not be chipping the very next day. Overall, I would not recommend this salon based on my experience. The attitude and customer service were extremely disappointing. I was very shocked that the manager or supervisor did not step in or intervene but instead them and the other nail techs just observed. I also want to point out that, even with pedicures, they do not appear to use liners or provide new individual tools such as clippers, nail pushers, buffers, etc., the way other salons I've been to do. That's another reason I personally would not return. If you're in the area, I would recommend checking out Nailosophy or Purity Nail Bar instead. I honestly regret not going to one of them.

Honestly, it started with their $14 Brazilian wax promotion, who could beat that price? My first appointment went okay, and they later ran a half-off membership deal, which I joined since members supposedly get a discount on services. It sounded like a great deal, especially because I get waxed regularly. During my second visit, I wasn't even told which suite they were in (there are two in the same building). There's no front desk, just a doorbell, so I waited about 15 minutes past my scheduled time before anyone came to get me. The wax itself was fine, but the experience wasn't. Each visit after that came with some kind of issue. The aesthetician was often late, and when I'd call, I'd be told I didn't even have an appointment. I showed proof of my text confirmations, but they always brushed it off as a "computer glitch." I use their app, and it constantly tells me I don't have an appointment, even though I get multiple text reminders. The final straw was today. I had an appointment during rush hour, drove a long distance, and arrived early. I rang the doorbell several times with no answer. I tried calling with also no luck. The app again said I had no appointment. After waiting 20 minutes, I gave up and left. As I was pulling out of the parking lot, I got a text saying my appointment was canceled because my aesthetician was sick. Why wasn't I notified before my appointment? No email, no text, no courtesy call, nothing. When they finally texted, there was zero apology or empathy, just an attempt to reschedule. To make matters worse, it's nearly impossible to reach a live person or anyone from corporate. There's no working phone number that connects you to customer service. This company is completely unprofessional and disorganized. I'm canceling my membership and will never return. There are plenty of other salons that actually care about their clients.

I LOVED the convenience of being able to jump out of the van straight back in to my car, and then hop onto the 93 home. It was awesome! I was going on a trip to Florida and opted for the "look like I've been there already for a few days" tan. I arrived early at the parking lot, and waited a few minutes for the technician to arrive. Once she arrived I signed some papers while she put the black out shades over the windows. It was a cooler day in April, so when I first got in the van it was chilly. She revved the heat up, but it was still slightly uncomfortable to disrobe and then get sprayed with the chilly solution. The color turned out ok. It was natural looking and even. I just didn't love it. In my opinion it felt a little like it had "yellow" undertones compared the brown/bronzy look I love. Looking back at the pictures, it looks good; and even my boyfriend really liked it (and he prefers me white). There was nothing wrong with it, and maybe I should have just gone for a deeper shade. Since then I have tried another tanning salon and ultimately had a better overall experience. It was more comfortable and I LOVED the final result. So in the end, Sun Tan Van was just OK for me. I would keep them in mind for the future, but they won't be my go-to.
