Very busy Office but I've never had a good experience there. I'm a denture wearer. They told me that yes we could accommodate you but you'll have to wait for a few weeks till that certain dentist came in. So I did and I got there. It's been hit and miss with the different Dental providers over the years. The office staff is friendly but lacks a sense of professionalism. They need to work on a cleaner and more professional office, hire only quality providers, and stick with their schedule. Today I was told that they couldn't do my scheduled cleaning because they don't have a dental hygienist and the dentist didn't have time today. They rescheduled me but I'm not confident in their scheduling, they forgot to put my son on the schedule altogether. I'll receive my dental care elsewhere from now on. read more

**STOP!** AVOID!** GO NO FURTHER unless you LOVE PAIN, BLOOD FOR DAYS, and CLOTS HANGING FROM YOUR MANGLED MOUTH! Not to mention the HUGE bloated bill they were going to charge my Insurance! $1,264.00 for a TEETH CLEANING! WTF! Simply by far the worst dental experience of my life, and I'm 55 years old. After relocating to Tehachapi Ca., I was looking for a local dentist, as my old (and very gentle) dentist was an hour's drive away. I just needed my teeth cleaned on a regular basis. I first called around Tehachapi looking for someone who accepted my Ins. After Gentle Dental said they DID accept my Ins. plan, I made an appointment for April 5th, 2019 and provided them with my Ins. card for authorization prior to my appointment. The Thursday before my appointment, I got a call from them cancelling the appointment due to the Dr. being sick. I then had to re-schedule for 4-19-19. I then received another call from the front office on Thursday at 5:15 pm telling me that I needed to contact my Ins. for said authorization. I informed them that the Ins. Co. was CLOSED (they close at 5 pm) and that they had over TWO weeks to get that authorization request from my 1st appointment time slot. (Idiots!) I should have taken this as a MAJOR SIGN OF HOW INEPT THEY ARE and just found another dentist! (Now I'm the idiot!) When I arrived at the facility, the front office staff was "cold" and impersonal. The back rooms are dilapidated and they use old outdated equipment and procedures. I saw the ACTUAL dentist, Scott Peters, for less than 8 minutes, then he went onto the next patient. I was handed off to the Periodontist for a deep cleaning. She numbed me up and started scrapping away. Once the nova cane wore off, my mouth bled HUGE AMOUNTS of blood for THREE (3) full days!!! I had to stay up all Saturday night spitting blood because I got violently sick from all the blood I had swallowed! Then came the MASSIVE blood clot from the area she "damaged." It was so big, I could not close my mouth, and I had to CUT IT OUT WITH SCISSORS!!! I took video and pictures of all of this for proof! On Monday, I drove that hour drive back to my old dentist for help with the situation. She gave me some gauze and instructions on how to proceed. On top of everything, they charged my Ins. a ridiculous inflated outrageous amount, $1264.00! I had to pay an out of pocket amount of $115.00 before they would let me leave! BOGUS BS! Wonderful dental office! I've had a fair bit of work done there and the staff is always so friendly! The dentists are fantastic! They make sure you're comfortable and understand what's going on. They're thorough and listen to any concerns I have and answer honestly. They also have given me less expensive treatment when it will work instead of just going for the expensive ones. I wouldn't have known the difference but they saw that they could give me a filling instead of a crown after a re-treated root canal (from 10 years ago) which cost a lot less and I appreciated the savings! The staff has also been very helpful in working with me using Care Credit so I can have the most time to pay that off without added interest which I really appreciate! It's wonderful to have a great dental office so close to home! I've even seen them give warm blankets to patients which I thought was very nice. read more

So I kept the review below for my daughter to share with people with children but to cut Gentle Dental some slack decided to move the rating up to my experience when I went in for myself. 4 stars. Some paperwork. Short wait. Ashton was still awesome and did a great job on my cleaning. I think she's going to make an awesome dentist someday based on what a great Hygenist she is today. (She's in school). The dentist was professional, cordial and efficient. My teeth look really good, and the experience was nice. I think it's possible she's just not a kid person, I take my 5 year old in this week and that appointment will determine whether I take my kids here or not in the future, but I have no problem returning for myself based on my experience this appointment. ------------------------------------------- I took my 8 year old into this dentist today. (Just a heads up siblings are not welcome, they can sit in the lobby, but not go back with the parent and patient). The desk staff and Ashton (our Hygenist) were great. The Doctor, who never even looked at me or addressed me, began to list teeth that had cavities, my daughter is scared and begins to cry and from a few feet away I let her know, "It's ok sweetie, you're going to be fine." and the Dentist asks the Hygenist to have me leave. After I said I don't mind leaving but by daughter will probably get scared, and then she said it would be ok but the Doctor didn't want me to talk. Ultimately, I will take her to a Ped dentist so they are better equipped to deal with nervous children. I took our two daughters in for their checkups and cleaning. Yuri at the front desk was very polite and answered all the questions I had. I made an appointment with them about a month in advance for a cleaning, X-Rays and a check-up. Actually I have been having some tooth pain and wanted to see what the problem was and what my options were. The morning of the appointment I got a verification of my appointment via text message. When I arrived at the appointment, the front desk person told me the dental assistant called off work and my appointment had to be rescheduled. I explained to her that not only did I take a sick day from my work, but that I drove almost 40 miles to get there. She reacted very unapologetic toward me and casually just said there was an appointment available the next month. My daughter works her appointment's around her work schedule and they either call 5 minutes before her appointment and cancel it and move it out another month or she shows up and the doors are locked and there is a note saying they won't be in today. They change the name of the business every year or 2 just to start over because of negative reviews, complaints from the BBB and I assume other shady stuff they have going on. This office is ridiculous. My daughter and I started treatment there. After repeatedly asking for billing statements, and never getting them, we both switched to another orthodontist. Over the last several years, I have repeatedly asked for a closing statement, and still do not have one. There has been excuse after excuse, being passed from person to person, office to office, and no one has been able to produce a statement. I had oral surgery there. When I scheduled the appointment, I told them to bill the insurance company. On the day of the surgery, I was told the cost. I asked if that was before or after the insurance was billed. I was told that they claim was denied and that my insurance did not cover the procedure. After the procedure, I called my insurance company they said that they were never billed. It took me almost a year to have the insurance company billed and receive reimbursement. Recently, I received a phone call from a collection agency. I explained that I never received a closing statement. They had no information, but said that if I did not pay, they would report it to the credit bureaus. I have made numerous phone calls to Dedicated/Gental Dental, and various locations. I get passed from person to person, messages are not returned, supervisors are not in.... I spoke to one gentleman who said that they could not stop the collection, even though they could not produce a bill. He advised me not to pay it yet, and he will figure out the bill. The collection has already been reported and my credit score has been lowered. I have called the local office, regional office, corporate office, complaint line, and I still do not have a copy of the bill, or closing statement. When I transferred from the second orthodontist, due to a move, I was given a closing statement and refund within a couple of weeks. I do not understand why this is such a problem for Dedicated/ Gentle Dental. We were also billed for upgraded equipment that we never received. This has been verified by two other orthodontist. Made an appointment On first appointment told I did not need reline. Called Ins co. Told them I knew better than the dentist when I needed reline. She agree with me. Made another appointment with them. Told by the dentist to make an appointment for reline. As the nurse was making my appointment the dentist came by and told her not to forget the $200.00. The girls taking the x-Rays use a metal guide which helps them aim the camera, but it cuts your gums up. Why not just learn to aim with out the aide? So now, days later, my gums hurt so bad. They charged me double what the original quote was and I didn't notice it until after I left the office. (I paid about $1,800 too much!.) I returned less than an hour later and was told I was just given an estimate before and they wouldn't know what the my responsibility would be until the insurance paid. 6 weeks later, and the insurance company has not received a claim (even though they told me 2 weeks ago that it had been sent). They never get our billing right and I always get bills for things and when I call on them they tell me to disregard them and then I'll get another bill telling me I'm delinquent and I get the "just disregard it" answer again. It's annoying getting bills in the mail. If I'm suppose to disregard them, then don't send them at all. It happens with every appointment. And then my son has an appointment at 9:30 and we show up at 9:15 and we are staring at a closed sign that says, "be back at 8:00." Very disappointed, had dentures made, first Dr. had trouble with the plate and broke it. My new dentures did no fit right. when i should up. I found out that Dr. no longer works there. The new Dr. was not very reassuring. I had to call to set up a new appointment and then he just set up another appointment. I couldn't find my keys and was about 10 min. late to the new appointment. In fact while I filled out paperwork I challenged the poor receptionist to prove it . Amazingly , I didn't feel the shot at all (which of course is the worst part), in fact I never had pain at all during either of the two visits it took to complete the work . But back to my question . I would not return to this place if they were the last dentist in Tehachapi. Approximately 2 years ago I needed to have two teeth extracted I had a 8:00 am appointment on a Friday they got me right in and numbed my mouth. The dentist started trash talking the other dentist in the organization which I thought was very unprofessional. At 1:00 pm I was still in the chair the dentist had a pile of tools on the tray each time he retrieved a new tool he would look at it as though he was thinking how he was going to use it. He tried everything even cutting the tooth in quarters. Finally at 1:00 I told him that I had enough, I walked out of the office with 2 shattered teeth one so bad it would hook on my tough, he tried to convince me to come back on Monday, No way! The next week I made an appoint in Bakersfield with a dentist which referred me to an oral surgent, I was in the seat for 30 minutes and both teeth were out at a cost of $250.00. Gentle Dental has made a number of attempts to collect payment of $477.00 each time I have sent them proof that I had to go somewhere else to get the teeth extracted. I just check my credit report and it is on it. This place is the worst dentist I have ever visited. Beware!!!!!! read more

My first visit was ok not great then the second time i went in there they told me i needed braces on my top teeth to fix my bite. And on top of the outragous cost they wanted to charge me for one row of braces they said i needed lots of other work such as fillings. I got a second option in Bakersfield at River Lakes Dental group and turns out all the 'dental work' didnt turn out to be what i needed. River Lakes is so nice and tell you what you need and really take care of you. Unimpressed with office staff. I had a dispute on a bill. I was not informed of the cost and was told my insurance would cover it. It didnt. I called gental dental to resolve and lower the bill since i was paying cash. They didnt. It was sent to collections. I sent a letter to collections agreeing to a reduced amount. No response. Meanwhile gental dental wants a new appt. It had been 6 months with no reply to my letter. I made an appt. They said when i walked in that i would have reschedule after the amount was paid. I have had to go to Gentle Dental for yrs. due to insurance. If I could give them less then 1 star U would. They ALWAYS try to overcharge me. They have overcharged me thousands of dollars in the past. This last visit they said I needed $1,800 worth of work, that's with dental insurance. When I questioned that amount & showed them what insurance covered they lowered price by a few hundred. But when told by my dental insurance in writing that my cost out of pocket is $120.00 to Gentle Dental they keep cancelling my appointments, & told my insurance they don't offer or do porcelain/ceramic crowns-They-R-Lying! Now that I & they have it in writing from Delta Dental that my cost is $30.00 for each porcelain ceramic crown, total cost ALL prep & lab, everything, they won't do it.
