I've been a seven year seasonal camper at Branch brook. A new owner took over a couple years ago…read morewith new management. Over the past two years it has slowly gone down hill. The biggest problem is the workers from out of state that take up living there because it's the cheapest way to live while they are up here working. Now that's ok, if, and that's a really big "if", the owner and the management enforced the rules. Unfortunately they do not. Parked on the sites they live at, is their travel trailer or fifth wheel, Very long construction trailer, make shift tents, their cars and their diesel trucks. You will be woken up anywhere from 4 am to 6 am when they start up those diesel trucks. There are some management that live on-site and do nothing to stop any of this for the family's that actually are regular campers. two years ago this place was packed with LONG TIME seasonal campers. All have left but maybe 4 or 5 . Not for anything, how about a little common courtesy. I have asked the owner to please have them park where us real campers won't be disturbed at this hour of the morning. He kept saying he will have them park in a designated area so this doesn't continue, but that never happened. For the most part, they are nice people, I don't directly blame them. This is something the owner and management should address. The owner himself told me he has bigger fish try fry. Well those words speak loud and clear. So the bottom line is, If you are from out of state and come to Branch brook to live while you are working in this area, by all means, this is the place to go. If you are looking to camp with your family for a weekend, a week, a month or longer.....I give you heads up....stay away. it is nothing more than a glorified storage facility. Very pricey for what you actually get. Instead of hearing children laughing and families around the campfire making memories and eating smores, All you hear are diesel trucks driving around campground, car's being worked on, garbage all over the place and dog poop EVERYWHERE. I do have pictures to back up my statement in case you might be thinking I have nothing better to do but complain , but when you've made a life at this place for 7 years and now it's turned into this, it's actually very sad.

(my grandparents home is off the park) The park has a nice shady walking path around its border for hot summer days as well as a splash pad ...and pool for kids. They have SO MANY fun events just look in Bristol Park and Rec webpage... For example, they have music every Tuesday throughout the summer in the outdoor amphitheater. They have Muzzy field adjacent to the parking lot and there are games of all kinds with fireworks afterward. They have seasonal events, including visits from Santa in Mrs. Rockwells pavillion. Also, there is a skateboard cement park that was professionally designed by pro skaters.... A frisbee disc golf course on one end AND a dog park!!! I can't say enough of good things about Rockwell Park...I absolutely Love this local spot.

Today Monday 6/8/2026 was my first visit with my pup and daughter's pup. We covered approximately 3.5 miles hopping from trail to trail. The weather was phenomenal and the forest very pleasant. The DEEP facility hosts training and learning seminars in addition to their regular duties. Hats off to this splendid preserve. Open from sunrise to sunset.

Sessions Woods is a nature preserve on 700 acres of land with trails and an education exhibit. They…read moreoffer educational programs and demonstrations; there are hiking trails throughout that you can hike yourself. Trails are open from sunrise to sunset; the exhibit is open 8:30-4 Monday-Friday. There were four trails to choose from; Beaver Pond, Forest Meadow, Tree ID, and Crosscut Trail. The parking lot was large. On this visit, I completed the Forest Meadow Trail. The trail was a 0.6-mile loop trail. There were informational signs throughout; they were kind of faded and old. The trail was easy and peaceful; I noticed quite a few boulders. There was only one other person we walked by on the trail. I was being vigilant about bears and ticks. There were quite a few benches which was a nice since my toddler enjoyed resting on them. I saw that the other trail had boardwalks; I look forward to coming back to check that out.

Seeing that this is the one and only time I've been here I am not going to attempt to comment on the supposed feud. Unlike many of the reviews posted on TripAdvisor, I don't have many negative things to say. Having traveled around a lot of the north east, I can honestly say this was one of my favorite spots. It took us a bit to find this place, as the road was under construction and was dirt at the time. There were no signs from the main road indicating where it was. Lucky this campground is situated with some homes near by, and I was able to ask a girl walking her dog where the campground was. We arrived to find the main doors to the camp office closed. There was a kid (probably 11 or 12 years old) hanging around taking out garbage and asked him to find someone to help us check in. He ran to a trailer and got the owners (who appear to live onsite). They checked us in quickly and escorted us to our spot. Strange but nice people. They had some weird tips for keeping your food away from the "critters" as they called them. I thanked them for their help and set up my tent. The spots were a decent size with trees all around. I would have liked the spots to be grassy (our was more dirt than anything else) but that didn't spoil anything. We spent a lot of our time that evening (after visiting Hopkins Vinyard) in the hot tub. The pool and hot tub were very clean. We didn't go in the pool since it was getting dark, but the hot tub was a great temperature and there were lots of chairs and deck loungers. I would recommend this campground to anyone in the area. Make sure you take into account the change in management in the past reviews and focus on the newest, more positive reviews. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Been camping at this campground for over 35 years and with in that time seen many changes but it's…read morealways been a favorite spot for me and my family as it's one of the most wilderness campgrounds in the state with many campgrounds being more in the open and less trees with paved roads. Hemlock hill to me feels more like camping with a lot of foliage and dirt roads instead of paved roads to me this makes it feel more like camping.

We came to Lake Compounce this year for phantom fall fest and were incredibly disappointed…read more Everything was so inefficient we spent 5 of the 6 hours we were there in a line. The rides were running with several open chairs which contributed to hour long waits for each ride. Security was called a couple times for line cutters and the response was to just let them keep their spot and ride the ride. The haunted houses were a joke - we waited in line for one of them for 30 minutes and were not even close to half way through because it hadn't moved more than a couple yards forward. There is no reason why those shouldn't have been close to continuous, the houses are just walk throughs! The food lines were also ridiculous, we sat in a fried dough line for 30 minutes because the staff were chatting instead of putting the pre fried dough on plates, it was already cooked they literally just had to put the toppings on it. Also they were absolutely using dirty oil or something for the fried dough, mine was inedible. Tasted like they'd been frying chicken or fish or something in it prior to the dough. Crowds really were not that bad either, we have been to this event on more crowded nights but the place was just ran so poorly you couldn't actually do any of the things advertised. Overall the experience was awful, especially compared to past years. Usually the food is great and the houses are all great but this year was terrible, we will not be returning any time soon.
