Garbage from my small site alone!

We went for two nights last summer, which turned into just one as one night was bad enough. I had high hopes for this trip, and planned it based on location. When we arrived the entire campground was packed, way more people on each site then any other park would allow. We watched in horror as a site below us caught their blackstone on fire when they left the food cooking for who knows how long unattended and another site had to run and put out the fire. Even with yelling no staff seamed to notice or both to come by. Then again they might now have heard it over the blasting music. I spend a fair amount of time camping each year, more then most so I have seen the great, average and then places I'll never go back to. This is the last of those. I would give zero stars if I could. The only saving grace of the trip was the massive rain storm that cleared the crowds out and some how made you feel less grossed out about the bathrooms because you could blame it on mud outside. But believe me they were horrible from the moment we arrived even before they flooded. Thankfully we didn't have kids with us on this trip, seeing as the smell of weed was absurd, people drunk everywhere. Watching staff look the other way the few times they went through the campground to the circus around them. Our neighbors on two different sides had 20+ people on their sites with party tents and all. I'd like to say it was just a bad night there and a fluke but by the amount of glass I had to clean up from the fire pit, and filling a garbage bag before I could even set up my tent it's clearly a bigger issue! We would have left immediately but couldn't find another site or hotel room even in the area. This place deserves 0 stars, sad to see this from a CT state park.

Leaves.

My pappy once told me a State Park is like an owl that thinks it's a buffalo. I'm not sure what he meant. But this State Park is definitely worth a visit.

Having fun playing kickball!

First time there. Nice! Not for big rigs. Fishing and hiking. Going back in a few weeks

This place was awful. Outside of climbing Black Rock itself I was happy when we left. I agree with the other reviews.

So far amazing! This is our first time fifth wheeling and doing the whole rv full time and we are…read morein love with the campsite and everything about the experience. We are right on the river/stream and it's been the most peaceful place I've been in CT, and I've lived here for 24 years I can't wait to hopefully experience more parks like this one! I'll update post with pictures on a nice day

I've been a seven year seasonal camper at Branch brook. A new owner took over a couple years ago…read morewith new management. Over the past two years it has slowly gone down hill. The biggest problem is the workers from out of state that take up living there because it's the cheapest way to live while they are up here working. Now that's ok, if, and that's a really big "if", the owner and the management enforced the rules. Unfortunately they do not. Parked on the sites they live at, is their travel trailer or fifth wheel, Very long construction trailer, make shift tents, their cars and their diesel trucks. You will be woken up anywhere from 4 am to 6 am when they start up those diesel trucks. There are some management that live on-site and do nothing to stop any of this for the family's that actually are regular campers. two years ago this place was packed with LONG TIME seasonal campers. All have left but maybe 4 or 5 . Not for anything, how about a little common courtesy. I have asked the owner to please have them park where us real campers won't be disturbed at this hour of the morning. He kept saying he will have them park in a designated area so this doesn't continue, but that never happened. For the most part, they are nice people, I don't directly blame them. This is something the owner and management should address. The owner himself told me he has bigger fish try fry. Well those words speak loud and clear. So the bottom line is, If you are from out of state and come to Branch brook to live while you are working in this area, by all means, this is the place to go. If you are looking to camp with your family for a weekend, a week, a month or longer.....I give you heads up....stay away. it is nothing more than a glorified storage facility. Very pricey for what you actually get. Instead of hearing children laughing and families around the campfire making memories and eating smores, All you hear are diesel trucks driving around campground, car's being worked on, garbage all over the place and dog poop EVERYWHERE. I do have pictures to back up my statement in case you might be thinking I have nothing better to do but complain , but when you've made a life at this place for 7 years and now it's turned into this, it's actually very sad.
