I had no idea how big this park was. Disc golf, dog park, mountain biking, hiking/nature trails, ball fields, skate park... I could go on and on. It's an older park but has tons of new attractions and modern park features. It's worth going. This is a real Bristol, CT Gem. Pequabuck river flows through it. Tons of green space. Lots of parking. Located on the West End of Bristol, Rockwell Park has been a staple in my family since the mid 40's! (my grandparents home is off the park) The park has a nice shady walking path around its border for hot summer days as well as a splash pad ...and pool for kids. They have SO MANY fun events just look in Bristol Park and Rec webpage... For example, they have music every Tuesday throughout the summer in the outdoor amphitheater. They have Muzzy field adjacent to the parking lot and there are games of all kinds with fireworks afterward. They have seasonal events, including visits from Santa in Mrs. Rockwells pavillion. Also, there is a skateboard cement park that was professionally designed by pro skaters.... A frisbee disc golf course on one end AND a dog park!!! I can't say enough of good things about Rockwell Park...I absolutely Love this local spot. read more

I think this park has a lot to offer, but for softball I am very disappointed that they picked it for all stars. Because it's very hard to find the fields, and the parking is very difficult with so much going on at the park. If they had more parking, it would be more enjoyable. read more

I stopped in here for a walk while visiting Bristol and enjoy the nice weather. The park was well spaced out, pretty, and taking precautions for Covid. There was plenty of parking and overall a nice area. read more

There's definitely something for everyone here! Walking paths, hiking trails, disk golf, a great playground, pool & skatepark along with a footbridge that goes across a little "nature sanctuary" & lots more including bike trails! (They even have a Little Free Library & Historical related monuments) I absolutely commend the Bristol Parks & Rec Department for the tireless work they put in each & every day to make & keep Rockwell Park a great place to spend the afternoon!!! It's come leaps & bounds from where it was years ago. read more

Great park! I was trying to find the Bark Park for dogs which is further back than the main parking area of this park (see my other review for Bark Park if you want more info about how to get there). There is a skateboard area, a swimming pool, trails, play area, etc. It's a nice park and I enjoyed walking on one of the short trails to get to the dog park. Can't wait to come back and explore more of what it has to offer! read more

This is a wonderful park. It is large and open and there are plenty of options for toddlers, teens and adults. We first came upon this place looking for a splashpad. This is a great place for kids to cool off, without swimming in a pool. The water comes in various pressures, locations and patterns to keep it fun and interesting. And it is seemingly very clean. It is worth the trip on a hot summer afternoon, the water stops at either 5 or 6, so don't go too late! There is also a very large playscape. It is newer and clean and has everything the little ones like. From rocks to climb on to tall and fast slides. My 2 year old does everything here without fear, which is scary but awesome at the same time. After the water at the pad turns off, head over and run around to dry off. There is a covered area with maybe a dozen picnic tables, so an afternoon picnic here is totally doable. There is also a full size pool, but I don't know the details on membership etc. Venture just past the play-scape and you've got a little concrete skate/bike park. It is always being used and I think its great the kids are outside. Keep going and you'll find some walking trails around the pond and a place to rent a kayak or something to go out for a small water adventure. There is also a really nice amphitheater with things scheduled but I haven't found a place online that has it. This really is an all afternoon/evening destination and a great place to meet others for a birthday party or something. read more

This is a beautiful park but it seems that it has been poorly maintained. It has a playground, skatepark, splash pad, pool, a dog park, and a beautiful area to walk. I find that it is best to visit in the morning and before school is out for the day. It has 3 general playscapes. The one for the youngest age group is in sad disrepair. Where a slide used to be is a broken piece of plywood. That whole area is essentially unusable. The second playscape made for 2-5 year olds is in better condition but has huge steps that are hard for short legs to navigate safely. The bridge is open so if your kid falls (especially closer to age 2) they could easily take a pretty good tumble. The whole playground area is in desperate need of new wood chips. The step down from the walking path that surrounds the playground ranges from almost level to such a step that my toddler has to sit down to get from one surface to another. This inconsistency is quite annoying. The playscapes for older kids seem to be fine. The walking area in the park is beautiful. There are great trails that wind through the park, around ponds, and through the woods. There are geese and while the poop is regularly cleaned up you still need to keep and eye out for it. There is a lot of trash, cigarette butts, etc. I often see groundskeepers there and they do a good job cleaning up but there's a lot of trash off to the sides. This walking area could also probably use a regular police presence. People let their dogs roam off-leash (which is annoying because it has a separate dog park) and with a toddler and small dog this is very unnerving. Additionally, there's usually someone messed up on something wandering around and after school there are large groups of rowdy kids. read more

Loved it! We only used the playground and splash pad, but there seems to be plenty more to enjoy! We will have to come back and my husband can skate while we play and splash. We were waiting for the splash pad to start, and luckily there were some parks and rec folk doing work on the pool area, and they showed us how to press the yellow button for it to start! Only minus one star, I wish the water turned on at 9, not 10, to give us a little more time before the bus loads of summer camp kids showed up at 11. I also stepped in gum and my kid thinks finding and picking up trash, particularly cigarette butts, is the best, and it's the worst. read more

Rockwell Park is a large public space on the west side of Bristol with a lot to do outside, such as a skate park, jogging and exercise trail, soccer fields and a playground. It's near Muzzy Field (baseball) and has plenty of parking. It also has a few ponds and (much like Robert Redford's 1992 classic) a river runs through it. It's a convenient place to get outside and is well worth a visit any time of year. read more

Huge, beautiful park. Me likes a lot! They have a huge sprinkler system and playscape that seems pretty interactive. The walking/running trail is pretty nice. Lots of shade, lots of beautiful nature scenery. It's a well made park. read more

Ok so Rockwell park was amazing the splash pad is great if you don't want to get completely wet. The playground is great for all ages and is in great shape. Their is hiking, skating, swimming and much more this place is great! The only thing that was keeping this review from being a five star was the pool was a little disorganized. Once we got there the pool was supposed to open at 1 it opened around 15 minutes late and once we got in there paying was so disorganized so my advice is to get there 10 minutes before it opens. Overall I would highly recommend this place to anyone that's active and loves the outdoors read more

Great place for the whole family. Par fitness course has several options, depending on your state of fitness. Playscape is safe and well maintained. A compliment to the recently renovated Mussy Field ballpark and a real showplace in an otherwise undesirable section of town. read more

Best park in Bristol! Something for everyone to do (the dog too!) Rockwell has some fantastic features that most parks couldn't dream of. Starting with the skate park which was a fantastic addition the the community giving our youth something to do instead of getting into trouble. Kids come from all over New England to skate at Rockwell! There are several walking paths with lots of stuff to look at, the river, a couple ponds, a bridge and even exercise activities. The little ones especially love the water park on hot summer days, as well as the play-scapes for both toddlers and big kids alike. The BARK Park is fenced in and has 2 separate areas one for big dogs and one for little dogs. My husband loves to fish the river while the little ones like to fish the pond or catch frogs. There is a baseball field, football field, soccer field, bocce pits and horse shoe courts, basketball court, tennis and volleyball as well as a pool. Plenty of covered pavilions for having parties or get togethers too! We were able to throw some of the best birthday parties for our son there as well as just go for a quiet walk. Plenty of parking all over the park. Nice job Bristol, this is definitely the diamond in the rough West End. read more
