I stopped in here for a walk while visiting Bristol and enjoy the nice weather. The park was well spaced out, pretty, and taking precautions for Covid. There was plenty of parking and overall a nice area.

I love it anytime of year. If you walk the trails, I strongly suggest you bring a friend.

Great park! I was trying to find the Bark Park for dogs which is further back than the main parking area of this park (see my other review for Bark Park if you want more info about how to get there). There is a skateboard area, a swimming pool, trails, play area, etc. It's a nice park and I enjoyed walking on one of the short trails to get to the dog park. Can't wait to come back and explore more of what it has to offer!

This is a wonderful park. It is large and open and there are plenty of options for toddlers, teens and adults. We first came upon this place looking for a splashpad. This is a great place for kids to cool off, without swimming in a pool. The water comes in various pressures, locations and patterns to keep it fun and interesting. And it is seemingly very clean. It is worth the trip on a hot summer afternoon, the water stops at either 5 or 6, so don't go too late! There is also a very large playscape. It is newer and clean and has everything the little ones like. From rocks to climb on to tall and fast slides. My 2 year old does everything here without fear, which is scary but awesome at the same time. After the water at the pad turns off, head over and run around to dry off. There is a covered area with maybe a dozen picnic tables, so an afternoon picnic here is totally doable. There is also a full size pool, but I don't know the details on membership etc. Venture just past the play-scape and you've got a little concrete skate/bike park. It is always being used and I think its great the kids are outside. Keep going and you'll find some walking trails around the pond and a place to rent a kayak or something to go out for a small water adventure. There is also a really nice amphitheater with things scheduled but I haven't found a place online that has it. This really is an all afternoon/evening destination and a great place to meet others for a birthday party or something.

Loved it! We only used the playground and splash pad, but there seems to be plenty more to enjoy! We will have to come back and my husband can skate while we play and splash. We were waiting for the splash pad to start, and luckily there were some parks and rec folk doing work on the pool area, and they showed us how to press the yellow button for it to start! Only minus one star, I wish the water turned on at 9, not 10, to give us a little more time before the bus loads of summer camp kids showed up at 11. I also stepped in gum and my kid thinks finding and picking up trash, particularly cigarette butts, is the best, and it's the worst.

There are a few ways to access this park, we decided to go from the Ansonia Nature Center. The transition over to State Forest is pretty subtle, mainly with some markings on the trees. This park is also adjacent to some watershed land, that is also marked really well. This park has some nice hiking trails, with a lot of different loop options. We ended up doing a 10k (6 miles) hike, on the white and purple loop trails. The trails are nicely blazed, and there's a really good variety of trees. We went through some hardwoods and some pine forest, and there were lots of plants and some water views of the reservoir at various points along the hike. It's not too strenuous elevation wise, which was nice for a moderate hike. Mountain biking is allowed in the park, and we saw several people out for a ride, so it seems a pretty popular location for biking, and the trails seem not overly eroded. My only complaint is this park is adjacent to a gun club, so for a good chunk of the hike (mostly the white trail) was done to the sound of near constant gunfire. It's not the most tranquil thing, especially if you're sensitive to that sound.

This is a beautiful walk around the reservoir. The day was overcast with a threat of rain, but the…read moretemperature today made up for the darkened skies. Colorful leaves are starting to pop out everywhere, and I suppose this place will be in it's prime in a week or so. If you're in the neighborhood, you have to stop by and enjoy the scenery.
