I was just here this past weekend for a music festival, and this was the perfect venue for it…read more The grounds are gorgeous, with plenty of space for camping. Lots of waterfront camping space, but if you actually want to be able to sleep in on those hot summer mornings there's also lots of space in the wooded areas to camp. Everything was really clean upon arrival (as clean as it can be for being a camping area) and was kept as such throughout the weekend. Not an easy task when you have 500+ people traipsing around. There's two sets of restrooms (with running water) and the ones at the front also have 2 showers in each bathroom (mens and womens). The showers were much great, hot and good water pressure. There's also a concession area right as you arrive at the campground which carries smaller items (sunglasses, waters, etc) and are super reasonably priced. The only downfall is that you can't swim in the lake (at least not when I was there), but it's a bit murky so I'm not sure if one would want to. They do rent out paddleboats and canoes though for $50 a day with a $50 refundable deposit. There's also some pretty good fishing in the lake. One of my favorite things about this place was the fact that the owner, John, was always on hand. Interacting with patrons, making sure things were running smoothly. He really did a great job of making us feel welcomed. I'll definitely be returning next year :D

Before she…read morecould even get there an extremely upset woman came out screaming at us not to block the gate, our guests were behind us so we backed far enough to clear the gate and signaled the remaining two cars to go around us, one did. The other car finally got the hint and went around but made it clear they were not happy. Needless to say our arrival was anything but pleasant. We had to dump and drove to the station, the trees were so close together at the 90* degree turn we scraped the side of our Rv. When leaving we dumped again but had to drive into brush to avoid our previous peril. The park was obviously designed for pull behind cracker boxes. Our visit was pleasant with a large space, large fire pit and view of the pond across the road. The entire park is 30 amp and we had to use a pigtail for power. Our guests had to pay $12 each just to enter the park, a rip off in my opinion. Our two day stay was to be $180, but the add on fees brought the total to around 250.00. We have been full timers for over 7 years and have never been charged such add ons in any other park. Final thoughts, after everything I can say we probably will never return to this park. It was pleasant but adding the damage to my rig, our arrival pleasantry and being nickel and dimed to death I should rate this park and visit a "one". When my wife went to check out Monique was very apologetic but she was limited to that.

There's a few full hookup sites, two dump stations on the way out of the park in case you had an electric/water site, and propane. Nelson's has a vacation colony of old feel with seasonal sites and themed weekends, and had events/crafts in the rec hall before COVID. The park is also a stone's throw from hiking and biking. Meshomasic State Forest is a short jaunt up the Square Trail--no need to leave the park for a decent hike. Lake Pocotopaug, the Airline Trail and (seasonally of course) leaf peeping. New England stone walls crisscross the Triangle and Square trails. Some of the bathhouses are closed because of pandemic, and the playground is presently closed except for a couple supervised play times, but it's still a great getaway. Our fire pit was like a hearth, and hearing the pond fountain was peaceful. What a great little getaway!
