During my last stay in Lake Placid I had breakfast at Generations and was quite pleased. I had the express menu eggs with bacon and home fries. The presentation was awesome. I know it's on egss but the plate was arranged so nicely along with fruit and some pretty delicious wheat toast. Everything tasted great and the service was more then fine. My wife had the oatmeal that I tasted and found to be excellent. My son also enjoyed his egg sandwich. I would highly recommend this establishment for a delicious breakfast. I'll be back. read more

Worst service ever. Messed up order 2 times, took forever to receive food after mistake. How do you mess up a grilled cheese? Repeatedly!? Manager was eating lunch while things were a mess. And credit card machine stopped working, luckily had cash.... Worst communication between all staff... Food was awful and service was unacceptable. I would recommend starving before wasting time and money at this place. Stay away ! Go else where! do not waste time with the incompetent staff! Very poor management, do not be deceived by the nice appearance outside. If you go somewhere else your vacation will be much better. read more

We went here in the fall. Our waitress took forever to take our order and again to bring our drinks. My wife and I each ordered a meal with chicken. I had a sandwich and she had a wrap. Both were absolutely horrible. The chicken was dry and not seasoned at all. I had Mac and cheese as a side which was also flavorless and watery. I did not even eat more than a bite of it and less than half of my sandwich. The waitress did not stop by to see how our meal was..or at all for that matter. When she finally came back at the "end of our meal", she did not even question why more than 3/4 of my meal remained. She just asked if we were done and if we wanted desert. We just asked for our check. It took more than 10 minutes for her to return with it. The place was not busy at all! On the way home, both my wife and I had issues with our stomachs. We will never go back... read more

We stayed at the hotel and decided to try this place for breakfast. It was very cold in the restaurant, but the view over the lake was fabulous. The portion sizes were huge, and their prices were a little high. The staff was really nice though. I did not like that they seemed to seat everyone in the same general area when the whole restaurant was open. The food came rather quickly. My fiancé did not like their orange juice and said it tasted like a capri sun flavor. He ordered some burrito, which he enjoyed and I ordered sausage and pancakes, which were very filling. read more

My husband and I stayed at The Golden Arrow for our honeymoon. We went to eat to Generations our second day for lunch. The price for drinks is a steal (hotel guests get Happy Hour prices all day! We definitely enjoyed that!) However, the service at the restaurant is very mediocre. Our waiter took a very long time to take the order, bring the food, etc. I ordered a salad and he left so fast I didn't get a chance to tell him he missed the dressing! I waited almost 10 minutes until another waitress saw my face and approached me and finally was able to get the dressing. The food is ok. But the service needs a lot of improvement. On a different note, we really had a great time at the bar. Both bartenders that we experience were very nice and they were working really hard. 5 stars to the bar! If you want to eat and get your food fast sit at the bar! read more

My husband and I were in Lake Placid for his work. We stayed at the Golden Arrow. Absolutely gorgeous hotel and awesome staff. We went to Generations for dinner about 6:15. The place was pretty dead. We got seated quickly and our server came over to take our drink order. He brought our drinks and took our order. My husband ordered a cheeseburger with bacon. I ordered a sandwich. Forty five minutes later, the hostess FINALLY brought out our food. My sandwich was soggy and the crust was chewy. We had to wave down the hostess to ask for another soda for my husband. We were almost done eating when our server made an appearance to ask how everything was. We barely had time to answer before he was gone again. About 10 minutes later I had to wave him down for our check. When we recdived our check we were charged $14 for my husband's burger, plus $1.50 for cheese, and $2.00 for bacon. Almost a $20 burger?! Are you kidding me??? Mediocre food and absolutely terrible service and we will NOT go back! read more

Nice ambiance especially on the patio. The burger I ordered was delicious thanks in part to the pretzel bun. The black bean humus appetizer was particularly good and worth trying. Plus the service was attentive without being pesky. Solid choice. read more

Guess I should have read the reviews first. Came in at noon and there were only 2 people eating at restaurant. My thought was, "Great. Should be able to eat quick." Unfortunately, we had to wait over 45 minutes for our burgers. A table of 6 came in after and got there food first. Food was good but not worth the wait. Much better places to be had in the village. read more

Walked in to have a drink, bar was full so we sat at a table. Waiter walked passed to another table that had sat after us, greeted them gave them water took their order. We waited for any kind of acknowledgement from the Bartender or waiter but never got it. We were the only other table in the restaurant and never got acknowledged once! After 15-20 minutes we left. If you are looking to waste time I assure you go here! read more

Possibly one of the worst meals I have ever had. Service was lousy and food was awful. Stay away.

My son did the Ironman this weekend, 3000 participants and their families...Lake Placid was crazy, however we found this great restaurant !!! There were 6 of us including 2 babies (22 months & 2 months)... We loved this place, the food was great, the service was quick ( 2 yr olds won't sit long! ) it was clean and roomy and the view from upstairs was amazing !!! We loved the breakfast buffet, the choices were good plentiful and hot even for my vegetarian daughter-in-law! The staff was great, from the friendly hostesses to the waitstaff! We tried other places but went back there 3 or 4 times ....Thankyou Generations !!! read more

Service was slow. Steaks were cold and had to be returned to the kitchen. The larger steak was fatty. No baked potatoes. Salad was, seemingly, out of the bag (plastic--you know, the kind you buy at the grocery store). read more

The service was inattentive at best. With a mostly empty restaurant it still took over 45 minutes to be served food. I asked for a second whiskey and waited for 20 minutes before i was told that the waiter forgot to put the order in. I had a burger and a plate of calamari (an appetizer) though both were strangely served to me at the same time. The food was ok but not much to write home about. My friend and his girlfriend were both vegetarians so they had to make due with an order of the quesadilla and nachos. The nachos were a small order with the cheese burned to a crisp (the house cheese sauce was apparently not available at the time). Was told the quesadilla was tasteless and uninspiring. read more

The breakfast food was good and the service was also good. It was a plus that they were open at 7 am which is helpful to the early riser. We would go back. read more

Stayed at Golden Arrow resort and breakfast at Generations was included. My wife and I ate there two mornings. The food was good but the service not and we were off season and they were not busy. The first day took over 1 hour and the second over 1.5 hours with our waitress not checking with us on the food served, coffee refills, and to provided us our bill. We needed to recruit a different waitress even though our original waitress was still present and working. Overall a very poor experience. read more

Slow service. Food was cold. Fruit plate contained spoiled fruit. Overall very bad experience, do not recommend.

If I could, I would give this restaurant zero stars. Service is awful--every time I have ever been there. Extremely slow and inattentive staff for a restaurant that is overpriced and food that is neither creative nor unique. In my most recent visit I asked to speak to the manager and expressed my frustration with the service. Her response: "thank you". read more

Good place for breakfast. Nice variety of breakfast dishes. Service was on the slow side. Dinner selections are pub type foods.

Pretty good food! Love the fries and is close to many hotels. Pooooooppppppppppppppppp

Although the restaurant was only half full, it took 60 minutes for the food to arrive at our table (from the time of order). Two of the meals were severely over cooked and cold. The other two were tolerable. In fairness to the restaurant, they did admit they were one cook down, and cut our bill in half (and most everyone else's) without having to ask. I just wished they would have warned us before we sat down, as I would have appreciated their honesty, and gone elsewhere. There is no way we will ever visit there again. read more

My family and I decided we would try Generations because of the craft beer and decent looking menu. We were very wrong. We are seated by a host with a bad attitude. After she simply dropped the menus on our table, our waiter came over after ten minutes. With the same attitude, she took our drink order. Another ten minutes later we got a hot chocolate (only half our order) that tasted like water and chocolate syrup. After our disappoint with the drinks, the waiter had not been back for twenty minutes, we simply got up and walked out. That was the best decision of the night. read more

Totally fine. I had a fair degree of trepidation because of the other reviews. We came in the off season for a few nights in the end of April with family and friends. We had very limited options because there weren't a lot of other places open this week. Our party was 6 young kids and 5 adults. They were running a limited menu but it had most of the tavern food that kids and adults like. Server was very polite and attentive throughout. We got our drinks and appetizers right away. Dinners came out shortly afterward. Two of us had burgers and they were cooked exactly to order and very big. Two of us had flat breads and they were totally fine and tasty. I had a salad and it was fresh and crispy. The kids each had a fine looking kid's meal: grilled cheese, chicken fingers, pasta, Mac and cheese with fries or chips and they were happy. Draft beers tasted fresh even though it was the off season (I was afraid they might not be clearing out the lines often enough - but again totally fine). Terrific views of Mirror Lake. Clean tables, glasses and silverware. We were pleasantly surprised. read more

This place is better than the you might expect walking by. The atmosphere is casual, but the food is much better than that. I got the salad with the morocaan chicken, which was amazing. The chicken was so flavorful and was very nicely complemented by everything else in the salad. My boyfriend got the chicken riggies, but they were not your average chicken riggies. Sauce was great and accompanied by vegetables...it was very tasty! Also, this restaurant is part of the locavore movement. That means they try to get the products on their menu from local farmers, etc. Everything was very fresh! We got the warm cheesecake for dessert and this was not very good. It tasted just like you would expect warm cheesecake would. There were probably better options on the dessert menu, but we wanted to try something new. The only drawback, was that they do not sell "normal" beer. No bud or miller lite, etc. We realized that's kind of typical of Lake Placid restaurants though. The microbrew we went with was really good and the waitress was really knowledgeable about what they had. Overall a great meal and experience. Definitely try it! read more
