Overall, I'm satisfied with the gel mani pedi I got from Generation Nail. Julie did my hands and Tutu did my feet. Julie was great about removing the terrible nails I walked in with previously, even though it was an absolute pain. Tutu did a good job with my feet. I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 because I did walk away with a deep cut on one of my finger cuticles from the nail removal, and a shallow cut on the side of my foot from the scrubbing. How long should gel polish last??? Purchased service on a Monday but bc I was short on time had to come back for polish. Prepaid for other services but bc took so long came the next day for lashes and finally a 3 day for nails. It has barely been 1 WEEK and my GEL POLISH CHIPPED and several nails have broken. When I went back Tom told me I would have to pay $21 again, they only guarantee gel polish for 3 days and it only last 11 days. I've had gel polish last almost a month without having to change. Poorest service I've ever received, instead of saying we'll fix and make it right he tried to charge me again. Save your money pay a little more and get better service. read more

Well I came here because I wanted to support a friends family member. Sorry/ not sorry I will not be coming back. Went in for a gel fill and shorten. I have to assume the young lady who did my nails doesn't know the difference between gel and acrylic, because that's exactly what she put on my gel nail. She filled so much, chipped my nails underneath, nails uneven and on top of that she used gel polish on the acrylic. So bout time I got home my nails were dull and the paint had chipped. I went to Generation Nails for the first time. I asked for SNS powder nails and was quoted $53. I then saw the CASH ONLY sign and said I only have a debit card. They said that was ok for today. I never was told it would be an extra $2 for using the card until I was paying. Then when I was done, I was told that my total would be $58 because I asked for powder instead of gel, and then the extra $2 to use a debit card. So my total went from $53 to $60 when I was done with nobody informing me during my service when they knew exactly what I was asking for. I don't like the additional up charges when I was told a particular price. Instead of giving my typical 20% tip, I gave 10% due to the surprise up charges. The guy then told me that's all your giving for tip. I will not be coming back!!! Integrity is everything!!! read more

I love this nail salon. It's not the cutest, or the largest but the service is the best. When I say they do manicures, they do manicures. They clean around your cuticles so well. If you ask, they're very knowledgeable on care as well. I haven't been to a nail shop that actually does manicures and pedicures in forever. Nail shops now days forget they are not there to do designs, they're there to care for our nails. They have a problem with scrubbing the callus in which that's in actuality their job, not giving fake massages and polishing nails. This place did everything. They removed callus. They cleaned around my toe nails. I was in and out in an hour with no appointment. My nails are amazing. I spent 10x more at Pamper for awful service to come to Oakland and get way better service. To be honest this is my first time ever writing a review and usually I don't feel the need to do so, but I guess the day has finally come. I went in today with my cousin right when they had opened because we did not book an appointment . Being the first two customers we had high expectations, but clearly they weren't met. So I went in to get a French gel manicure. Very simple. I ended getting the new lady and I didn't underestimate her but her boss obviously did. Usually I do not get French with the pink undertone but I had assumed that originally the pink she was using is a base color. It was not, so I told her about it how I want a clear base instead. The lady that was working on my nails switch off with the boss because the boss was supervising and saw the new lady doing a bad job and therefore I was hoping she would do a marvelous job and fix the mistakes made, BUT SHE DIDNT. my nails are unevenly shaped, paint job was terrible, and she didn't even take the original pink off completely. Very disappointing. My cousin had her done way better but she isn't completely satisfied either. My cousin also got her eyebrows done after but they came out One being longer than the other. I am up-fucking-set ! I have been getting my brows done from Jen for about 4 yrs now. I understand people go on vacation or what not but this was simply unprofessional and irritating. I called the day before to make sure she would be working the last two days before it said she was leaving for vacation. The guy who answered told me she would be workin til they closed at 6pm. I told him, since she doesn't do appointments, I get off work at 5:30pm and will be there before they closed. He said that was fine, just come before closing. Today I literally got off work early and while on my way there, in traffic, I called them and he said SHE WENT HOME EARLY! I needed my eyebrows done before my graduation pictures and now I'm stuck. This place is so unprofessional, everyone pretty much does what they want, and there's no order! If you were going on vacation, mind you she's said she would be gone 5/23-5/27, why wouldn't you work the full day before you leave? I am pissed ! Half the time she's never there anyways and now this! I will be going up there when she comes back to talk about this ! read more

HORRIBLE! I only came here because one of my clients at work recommended it but I should have never EVER came here. The lady who did my nails did not know how to get the gel nails I had already had off. So she filed so hard my natural nails were on FIRE! She started to put the acrylic on my nails and wasn't even going to use the metal shape. Then, I asked for thick nails so she put a blob of clear acrylic on top of the glitter acrylic that I actually wanted thick. Finally she shaped my nails square square as I wanted but half of my nails are not straight across. I read the reviews on yelp before I even decided to come here and they were great, maybe I just got the worst nail tech, but either way. I wont be back. read more

I've traveled quite a bit in the last 8 years, so I get my nails done at least everywhere I go. NYC-it was good, not great. San Antonio TX, not good at all. Dallas- terrible. Walnut Creek-don't bother. Puerto Rico-very good! Bethesda MD-ok. San Leandro-just awful. Hayward-only if you have no other alternatives. And so on and so on...The best place in the world, so far, in my opinion is Generation Nails. They should put up a mall around that place. Yeah, it looks like shit on the outside, but it has the best nail techs in the world,,,that's right, the fricken world! I'll be in Paris next year...let's see how good they are. I got here for my eye brows and pedi. Jen is great with eye brows, been coming here since I was 16. Long wait so getting there when they open is strongly suggested. Used to come here for my nails but I do my own now. When I came here for nails I got acrylic full set/fill and it was pretty decent. Parking sometimes sucks but it's worth it. My favorite nail shop and in my opinion also the best nail shop hands down. They always do great work, all the newest and latest designs. Majority of the nail artist do good work and the young girl Jenny do great eyebrows but she's only there on certain days. Told specific intructions to carry out. My gf and her mother had gone to generation nails. My girlfriend had asked specifically if generation nails does eyebrow threading and they said yes twice once in person and once on the phone to set the appointment. Well as you may guess they proceeded to act like they were giving eye brow threading until my gf felt hot wax on her face. She is allergic to latex and certain chemical compounds causes her to break out exponentially. There is a reason why my gf asked for threading, the hot wax irritates her skin. She now has 6 break out spots in the middle of her forehead. They not only waxed her eyebrows, but shaved most of it. They only used about 2 waxing strips, then shaved the rest which im thinking may have caused her breaking out problem but then again its hard to detecte what actually caused it since the wax was used on her face and she has sensitive skin. They did a job a 5 year old can do. She might as well have done it myself. Oh and not to mention when she was getting a pedicure she witnessed un hygienic protocols such as them lining their buckets with trash bags, then removing them and letting the left over dirty feet water drain on the bucket itself. As they were filling up my girlfriends water for her pedicure, she noticed skin particles floating in the water, instantly she wanted to leave, but since the bags was used as a liner, she wanted to trust it was clean since she already had made the appointment and they have already started on her mothers pedicure so she felt as if it was to late to walk out. They wanted a girls day and she didnt want to seem like she was being to pushy . My girlfriend gets her feet done every two weeks. Not once did my girlfriend ever witness this at any other shop. Ever! So why are they lining theyre buckets if they dont even let it drain without touching what everybody else puts their feet on? Oh and another thing. My girlfriend and her mom love getting their feet messaged when getting theyre pedicure done, they literally "Massaged" each their feet for not even 45 seconds each. She walked out paying 84$ total. Never ever again will my girlfriend or her mom show up there . They suck and are super manipulative. They lie to continue to get unwanted business. I want our money back. Id rate this place zero stars if i could. Nothing about their appointment was pleasant. Oh and may i add, they gave both of them hang nails. Very painful. read more

I went to generations nails on Tuesday 5/28/2019 I just wanted a fill, the lady that did my nails did a horrible job, First she cut my nails way to short, then the shape I wanted she didn't do. First I said square then right before she cut them I wanted round, so after she got done doing the shape she showed me and it didn't look the same. The lady finally showed me all the shapes and said which one you like I picked the square and kind of round. I know a lot of people would say I changed the shape 2x but she didn't know how to do the ones I liked. I was getting so irritated because I been there for one hour and 45 minutes she was painting sloppy I wanted white with just both my ring fingers with pink glitter. I hated my nails when I left I was telling the men that the lady who did my nails can NEVER do my nails again if I come back I said she is unprofessional and act Like she could not remember what shape I wanted. Worst place to go to if you have special event.The attitude was horrible on Sep.7th 2017.I've dealt with them in the past but they had seemed to get better with attitude over time.I had 4 people that had to help for Gel manicure,pedicure with design and eyebrows.First they want to sand nails with drill,that burns but they insist.Suggestion to soak nails while feet are being done.Had to request a new foot scrubber.Lady doing feet had the nerve to tell me that she knows how to do her job after i tell her my feet need to soak.The lady doing my nails left me soaking in the alcohol to only start on someones feet.When questioned and complaining to Tommy that this is poor service and im paying my money.So now he brings a guy over who is looking like he don' t want to do it.I already explained I was getting ready for my daughters wedding. The guy was smacking his lips when showing the lady what design I want.I started to just walk out.Not to mention she kept dropping the scrubber on the floor! Looking at me to see if I noticed.Yes I did!
