Chris fixed my tuck point around my door. There was also debris on the brick that was left over from an awning that was removed. Chris restored that area and it looks very clean and there are no signs of any old awning. Will use them again. Very responsible and want to make sure you are satisfied with the work. I'm a long time homeowner which means I have years of experience with various problems that have cropped up around the house. In this case, it was a stone-floored porch whose stairs were sinking. The foundation of the stairs needed to be replaced. Because some of the slabs on the porch itself had to be removed as part of the job, the crew discovered that the subfloor underneath was not concrete but only wood covered by a decades old deteriorating thin membrane. The foreman, Chris, (a very nice and conscientious guy) drew my attention to this, because he was quite rightly concerned that if the membrane failed, rain would leak into the basement. (He didn't know it, but the house's electrical panels were in that part of the basement!) Based on my past experiences with other types of work done on the house, it wouldn't have surprised me if he had fixed only the stairs, kept his mouth shut about the other problem, and simply replaced the stones on the porch floor. You have no idea how glad I am that he bothered to point this out to me so it could be easily and cheaply fixed as part of the job before we had what could have been real grief. I was very impressed with this company. They were able to diagnose why an interior brick wall was disintegrating and took care of the problem. They explained very thoroughly what needed to be done, and came with a large enough crew that it was done very quickly. Customer service was great too as far as the office staff. From the estimate to the day of service was very timely, the only slight delay being to wait for the snow to be off the roof. I would definitely recommend the company and look forward to using them for any future repairs I might need. read more

I recently had General Masonry Construction work on two homes in the Deerfield area. Each had issues. In one, they had to rebuild an arch on the outside of the building. On the other, in addition to maintaining and rebuilding some of the exterior brick, they maintained an attached all glass sunroom. No brick, just big windows and they fixed the small leak, and did so efficiently. I was very pleased because I was having a hard time finding a sunroom contractor who would maintain a sunroom, they all wanted to rebuild it. The work done by General Masonry was done professionally, on time, and at a reasonable rate. I highly recommend their services. read more

We had General Masonry do a large patio for us at our home. We couldn't be more happy with this firm. The workers Adam & his helper were outstanding. They were here everyday and worked extremely hard. They were very polite and always answered all out questions. Chris the owner was here at least twice a day checking on progress & quality and making sure everything was done to his high standards. Aneta whom works in the office was always very responsive on anything we needed as well. They started the project on time just like they promised us and finished on a timely basis. We have used General Masonry on 4 different ocassions - all to great results. The first and biggest project was laying a new brick path with intricate cuts in our backyard. The work was extremely delicate with detailed and curved cuts. We were thrilled with the results - and the project architect said he had not seen the quality of the work that Chris and his team achieved. Since then Chris has laid tile in the house, laid new blue stone patio and did tuck pointing on our garage. I have used General Masonry Construction 4 times over the last several years. The work done by them is always outstanding. I had General replace the limestone ledge on my fireplace several years ago. No one else was able to figure out how to repair it with the proper support to keep it from cracking since it has a large overhang. The work they did on it is outstanding. Since then, I have used them for foundation repair as well as chimney tuck-pointing. With our harsh winters and the age of the building, it is really necessary to have a company that is honest, reliable, and does quality work! I hired Chris * Aneta with General Masonry last November 2016 to do tuck pointing on my building. My mistake was I paid them in full before the job was completed. They did not caulk around the windows or under a downspout. I spoke to Aneta regarding what needed to be completed. She requested pictures which I sent. Since then I have tried several times to contact them and have not replied. Because of their follow up I do not recommend them. read more

Price was fair and they came right out when I told them I was having a pretty bad problem. Other companies were not as helpful.
