AB Edwards has done our roof repairs 2x for 2 separate situations. We moved into a new home and the first was one we knew we would need for an addition. The addition needed the entire roof replaced, and they came highly recommended to me by a coworker. I went with them and we are so glad we did. They came out to quote, and Chris the Project Manager was really thorough and explained everything that needed to be done. He mentioned if anything was uncovered what would also have to happen. We felt really confident in choosing them for the job. Yes the quote was higher than the roofer we had in during the inspection of the property, however, that roofer is listed in these reviews as a company that AB had to help a customer fix their work, so we were fine with the pricing. During the roof replacement we found we needed additional work done, but this was all discussed upfront as a possibility, so was not a surprise. The work was done quickly, and so well. Fast forward to March, and there was a leak that was in our master bathroom. The contractor on the house has been shady and not wanting to help with this as he "never touched the roof". We decided to finally just go back to AB as we knew they would help quickly and do the best job possible. They also knew about this issue back in December when they were doing the other project, and were there to help if needed they said. How great is that, knowing they would do the work for us and feeling good about it because they really cared. So, I called up Chris the PM, and he got here in about a week. Took a day to do the majority of the work, and even an additional cosmetic fix because of that crazy windstorm we had. They have about one more day left of work, not even, and that was because it rained the other day. We are fully confident that this has fixed the leak, and we can now get to work on the interior fixes in the bathroom. I cannot recommend them more. Go with them, even if they might have a higher quote then another roofer. You will not regret it! read more

I hired AB Edward to redo a metal roof on my Kenosha house over 10 years ago. The other roofing contractor I hired was unscrupulous and I had to sue them in court. AB Edward redid the entire roof and garage for a 4000 sq ft house. There have been no problems since and I don't foresee any problems for a long time. I also recommended them to others. If you want exterior construction done right, pay what a reputable contractor is worth the first time so you don't have issues with repairs in the future. read more

Need a roof replacement. Called A B Edward and scheduled an estimate for 7/10. They later called and said the date didn't work for them anymore, so rescheduled to 7/18 but nobody showed up, so called and was told there was no record of that new appointment. Asked if they could do a weekend appointment, no. Asked if they could just come and look at the roof without us having to be home, no. According to their policy, they can't provide a quote without meeting you and they don't have extended hours (their business hours are 9-5 which are the same as mine). What can a face to face meeting accomplish that a phone call and/or email can't in this situation? With so many companies doing similar work in the area, I don't understand the lack of flexibility here. Update: they called today and said someone did come by yesterday to take measurements, but at a different time than the scheduled time, and they will provide a proposal in a few days. While the communication could have been better, I appreciate their efforts to work with me. read more

"AB Edwards guarantees the windows for 5 years!" it clearly states in writing. The salesman also told me "You're covered even if someone throws a baseball through it." Yeah, right! One cracked this winter. There was no sign that anything hit it (I looked carefully) and only the outer pane cracked, not the inner one. After my initial email, with photos, I suddenly got a call from someone offering to fix it for $260. When I griped in the next email and mentioned the guarantee, this is what I got back--"You're correct Brendan, Ill give them a call and sort things out. Will keep you posted." Never heard until I emailed again almost 2 weeks later. Suddenly it was not covered again, blamed on "external factors." As far as I can tell it just cracked. You decide. Great experience for our gutters/downspouts replacement project! Chris, the project manager, met me at the house to discuss what I was looking for and what we were experiencing with the gutters & downspouts that were on the house. Anytime it rained a decent amount, the rain water would come off the roof, miss the gutters and fall right into flower beds, bushes, etc. Whatever rain water was captured by the gutters, the downspouts could not handle causing the gutters to overflow in certain areas. Chris agreed with me that oversized downspouts would be best as well as having the gutters installed correctly with the right pitch. A contract was signed, very competitive pricing, installers arrived about a week later and the job was done professionally in about 6 hours! The installers were great, they introduced themselves before starting work, gave me updates as they progressed and informed me once they were done. They had me visually inspect their work and then they cleaned up all their debris. Very happy from start to finish with this business!!! read more

They did $1000 roof repair in the fall and with the first snow in January 2020 my roof was leaking. I have a TPO roofing membrane they were supposed to fix something that was obviously in need of repair. They were also supposed to check all the seams on the roof. When I contacted the office they say that they didn't guarantee their work and this was a new leak even though it wasn't. Do not use them they're dishonest they're expensive. read more

I can't believe I'm the first to review AB Edwards. This company is an exterior construction professional. They redid my metal roof in WI after the other unscrupulous and incompetent roofer named Preferred roofing in WI messed it up. This was done probably 5 years ago and have not an issue since. My metal roof should last 50 years so that's what I'm hoping. They also installed my wood decking there and did a great job. I worked with Bo, who I think is the owner. He walked me through the big renovation from start to finish. Their prices are higher than your fly-by-night roofers but fair for professionals in the industry. I had a new roof installed by A.B. Edwards in 2008 - I have had nothing but problems with the product. Multiple poor quality workmanship issues and errors caused high humidity issues in the attic - they blocked all the air vents and they would not admit that caused a problem. Qualified, Thorough, Outstanding Craftsmanship No one in Chicago could side the small back sun porches of my two-flat building. I had chosen colonial red 4'x8' flat Hardie Board siding panels, thinking they would be easy to install. I was wrong. Very wrong. It turns out that there are only three Hardie board certified installers in the Chicago area; only they are qualified about the highly technical ins and outs of these panels, which are typically used only in commercial applications, although increasingly less so. One company owner (NOT AB Enterprise) came out and told me he could not do the job--two weeks before his company's scheduled starting date. He said that the job, upon closer inspection, was simply too difficult. My back porch had had old siding torn off and the surface was now (he said) too uneven to apply the flat board panels. Plus, I wanted quite elaborate channels to frame the squares, something that takes a lot of time. I turned to AB Enterprise, which had been my second choice all along. They were a bit more expensive, which is the only reason in the end that I'd not chosen them. Chris Ryba, their man in the field, had always been there for me: he gets back to you immediately, keeps his word, is punctual, and extremely personable and efficient. He told me that there was no reason why they could not do the work: sure, it was difficult, but not un-doable. In the end, though, they raised the price significantly given (upon closer inspection of the installation surface) the need to shim the 1/2" plywood placed underneath the panels--and the elaborate cut-outs to accommodate my hanging balconies. In the end, their work was wonderful. I'm thrilled. I wish there was a place where I could upload photos. The job is that good. We had to redo flat roof after the previous contractor did the worst job ever and didn't honor his warranty (Lindholm roofing). AB Edwards was a bit pricey, but you get what you paid for - prompt and courteous service, and professional installation. He answered all of my questions and offered clear explanations of the process, from beginning to end. The workers arrived at 7 am and left at no earlier than 6pm. On schedule, they installed a new roof, gutters, soffit, fascia and siding. They cleaned the site daily and were always professional and courteous. Not knowing much about roofing, I felt very comfortable with the rep. that AB Edwards sent out. He explained exactly what would be done to repair the roof on a house we own in Mundelein. I appreciate that he told me I would not need a new roof for another 10 years. He also suggested how they would redo the gutters. They stuck to the timetable set up, finished the job in 1 day and left the yard immaculate. A week after the job was completed, we found a little hole made by an animal. I called AB Edwards for what I thought was a roof repair due to ice damming. The quote they returned was for a total roof replacement, which initially surprised me. But my skepticism was easily overcome because they shared with me all the photos they took of the rest of my roof, and the quote was reasonable considering all the work that was proposed. When the crew was here, they completed the work efficiently, cleaning up well each day, and also sweeping the ground at the end with a magnet to "catch" any stray shingle tacks. I had many questions, and Andy (owner) and Mark (COO) were very responsive and gave me lots of information about the materials, the process, and answered my more technical questions about proper roof ventilation. I have used AB Edward for two different projects - to repair/rebuild chimneys on my house and to repair roof damage due to recent storms. When they did the chimney, they worked cleanly, efficiently and the end result was great - the chimney's looked like new without looking like they didn't belong to the house (they matched the brick perfectly). Overnight, we could hear banging on the scaffolding and was concerned it was loose. I called and emailed the after hours services, and one of the owners called me back right away (within 30 minutes) and actually came to our house at midnight, climbed up the scaffolding in the dark and made sure it was secure. He spent at least 45 minutes checking the scaffolding and making sure it was tight. The entire job was done in time and for a reasonable price. It was a no-brainer to call them when we needed roof work done. When they think they are going to be late to an appointment, they call. When they are on their way, they called to let me know. They are friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this company and would use them again in the future. We have a house that is only 8 years old and the roof that was originally installed was defective. We hired AB Edward to replace our roof as well as install new copper gutters. Bo was a pleasure to deal with, and handled the project for us. His workers not only did a terrific job, but they were very polite and did an amazing job cleaning up every night.
