I had already bought my Prom dress before I checked out the yelp reviews. I didn't expect to see such a low rating. The dresses were really nice depending on which section you looked at and the prices were reasonable. I was kinda glad that Gemini had an extensive collection since I was tired from walking around all day looking for my dress. I went to West Edmonton Mall, Southgate and eventually Londonderry. (They should've located Gemini at West Edmonton Mall that way I didn't have to travel so much....) I found the customer service really satisfying. I think it just depends on who is serving you? I had someone named Mercedes service me on one occasion and eventually Mariam took over since Mercedes had to leave. The customer service was really good as long as you know what your looking for. I had 45 minutes to try on the dresses after I had filled out a form and did some browsing. I finally bought myself a Sherri Hill dress. Gold with some glitter on it. I would definitely recommend this store for its dresses. read more

I've never actually had a prom, a wedding, or any other reason to get a super fancy dress or gown, but if I ever need one, I may consider buying one at Gemini Prom & Evening. I was here with a friend, because she was looking at wedding dresses. The selection wasn't that extensive here, but they had some beautiful dresses that weren't super expensive. Most of the prom dresses were around $230-$300. Some of the shorter dresses were under $200. There were all kinds of styles and colours. Some were pretty. Some were glamourous. Some were really cheesy. I probably wouldn't wear most of these dress, but I found a few that were rather edgy that I would definitely wear. read more

I wanted to try on a couple dresses that I saw on their website. One wasn't actually in stock- and it was the one I wanted to try on most, so that sucked. Many of the dresses turned out to be quite gaudy- what looked like a little sparkle on the website turned out to be giant, gaudy gems that look like they came out of one of those jewelry kits that you get for 9 year old girls. That said, they did have a few nice dresses here at reasonable prices- but the sales staff also kinda sucked. At first the girl helping me was nice enough, but when I told her what I wanted, she wasn't exactly great at finding things that matched what I wanted. She really seemed like she was trying to rush me through, rather than help me. It's the first formal wear store I've been to- and I've been to a few recently- where they put the dresses into your change room still in the bag, & make you put the dresses back in the bags yourself before you can try on another one. Also, she would not give me a new dress to try until she got the old one back. This especially got awkward cos some were labeled with the wrong size & didn't fit me at all, & the girl helping me would not let me pass the dress over the top of the door, so she opened it up wide enough for me to pass the dress through it, which was also enough for me to be embarrassed cos anyone walking by would've had a good chance of seeing me standing there in my underwear. So I couldn't get another dress without putting something else on first. At one point, I was trying to tell the sales girl something, and she LITERALLY shut the door in my face while I was talking to her. They also don't let you take photos here, which gets on my nerves. So yeah, overall, this place could have a dress you'd like at a reasonable price. But if you go, be prepared for some of the worst customer service ever. read more

This store was formerly owned by a nice Asian lady and in Londonderry Mall. Prices were fair, discounts and bargains were available. Fast forward to now, and they have a new pretentious, hoity, snobby giant warehouse showroom. With cheap binder clips holding up their signs and red astro turf carpet. Over priced - grad/party/prom dresses are in the $500 to $1000 range and the sales girl said they will absolutely not negotiate on prices any more because the Canadian dollar is low and the dresses are from the US. (Does she mean China?) Terrible unfriendly sales people. We were asked if we needed help and said yes. Then told we could not be helped without an appointment. So we wandered around looking anyway until a different sales girl decided to let my daughter try on dresses. You can no longer just go to this store and buy a dress. They make a big fuss over you having appointments, 45 minutes long. You may only try on 6 dresses. And don't bother looking at anything on the lower level, those are just samples, not for trying on or anything. Just note that I can go buy a $40,000 truck without an appointment. You want my money? You work on my time and make at least a token effort to provide friendly, responsive customer service. They weren't too busy to help either, they had two sales girls sitting around doing nothing when we showed up at 2pm on a weekday and only two customers in the store. I can see why. At the end of 30 minutes they had other customers so told my daughter she couldn't try on anything else. We left and took our money elsewhere. And will NEVER return. read more

this place was the worst store i have ever been to. The sales associates speak in their language while your standing in front of them. They do not acknowledge your existence. They have the worst seamstress ever who is incompetent and will ruin your gown. There is no customer service at all. They disrespect their Client. They do not take responsibility for their mistakes. As a bride, I called and made an appointment so I could try on one of the designers listed on their website. I was treated reasonably well over the phone (at this point, I had tried on more than 25 dresses, to no avail) and when I went in the next day with a bridesmaid, we were ready with my list of preferred styles. The women in this store seemed to forget that I was planning on spending a couple thousand dollars on a single dress and shunted me off to one side in favour of a little prom queen trying to get a hemline shortened, and was left on my own with my bridesmaid for the better part of 30 minutes. I was told that sample dresses would not fit me (I am a size 12, most sample wedding dresses are between 8-14 in fit, and for those who don't know, sample dresses are just that: samples! Try one on, fall in love with it, order it in your desired size and colour) and that my desire for a ballgown or A-line style was not possible. When I finally found some dresses to try on, the "consultant" forgot about us in the fitting room and after suggesting three mermaid-style dresses, which I hated, said the only way I was going to find a dress was by purchasing it from a magazine. No woman in her right mind will spend $2,000 on a wedding dress she saw in a magazine without TRYING IT ON FIRST! That's what sample dresses are for! I was so flabbergasted that she would even suggest this as a solution and brush off my concerns about buying a dress without trying it on as "oh, it's your wedding, you will love it" that I didn't have the good sense to tell her she was an idiot. Feel free to go here if you want to walk out feeling frustrated, or if you are a 17 years old and a size 2, they apparently like that, and will ignore their actual appointments in their rush to help. If you have boobs and a brain though, your money is better spent at Bridal Boutique in West Edmonton Mall. 46 dresses later, they found my dress on the second try and had me leaving smiling and eagerly anticipating the future. read more

We had the worst customer service ever here... our "consultant" ignored us the entire time of our appointment.... in fact I would call it apathy, as every time we needed her it was like pulling teeth to get help. :( The store was completely empty but they told us several times at the beginning that we only had a 45 minute appointment and could only try on 6 dresses. In that huge store... we could only try on 6! Well since then we have been to multiple stores in the west end and at West Edmonton Mall and did NOT encounter such a crazy policy! The staff at other stores were friendly, and we had great customer service. Apparently Gemini does not want to be in business for long!! Remember there are tons of stores that actually care if you shop with them!!! read more

I got my bridesmaids dresses here.Not pleased! They advised us to order a size of dress and three months later told us this was not available! So now Im stuck trying to find a seamstress who can make two dresses magically grow! No help from them,just told to go to a seamstress myself.For this I got 50 dollars back.I would never go here again. read more

This is the worst store in Edmonton and even mayby in entire Canada for customers and workers too.there is no return policy at all even if you come back in five minutes with their dress and even if you just ordered the dress and it is going to arrive in 6 weeks!!!! As soon they get money from you they stop respect your rights as a customer.if they make mistake e.g. ordering wrong size for you they never say sorry and you have no chance to get refund.the will manipulate and lay to you . read more

Worst customer service experience! Sad part is there was actually quite a good selection but I never even got to try anything on :( I wandered around the store for about ten minutes trying to get the staff's attention but they were too busy to even acknowledge me. So I returned a while later and asked to try on 2 dresses I already had picked out, and was told to "return another day" because there was only TWENTY-FIVE minutes left until the store closed and she had to clean. She didn't even look up from her desk at me while telling me this. Not only did I find the staff extremely rude but it was also just plain poor business practice- I was pretty serious about the dresses and they could have made good money if they'd allowed me just the five minutes I needed to try them on! I found a full length Mother of the bride dress in this store and placed a 50% deposit on the dress. The dress arrived and prior to being allowed to try it on I was forced to pay the balance of the cost. I asked what if beads or some part of the dress wasn't to my satisfaction and the manager basically didn't answer. Reluctantly I paid as she wouldn't let me try the dress on. I put the dress on and it was so short it came to the top of my foot when I had no shoes on. I am 5 feet 1 inch tall. I tried to get the manager to come up with a solution for me, but she babbled on about what shoes I could wear and how this was the dress I ordered. I NEVER ordered a dress that short nor would anyone else. I finally left telling her that I was going to try it on at home with another pair of shoes and call her back. I called within the hour and she talked and talked frustrating me to basically say I was returning the next day at noon and wanted a solution. When my daughter and I arrived, she wasn't there. She told her very young staff to tell me she was called "to a meeting". She never called me back. I have received no compensation from the store. I would never buy from this store again. read more

What a horrible place to shop for dresses. My family have never been treated so disrespectful in all our lives.We arrived. Had to wait 10 min before anyone would speak to us.(Several people standing behind the counter doing nothing.) No on else in store. Finally we were told go pick out your dresses from top of stop floor when ready bring down stairs. Which we did. Only to be reprimanded and have a few of our choices taken away. Had to wait another 15 minutes before someone would come with to assist us in dressing room. They misplace the dresses they had taken away earlier. Lady was extremely rude. Only allowed five dresses. Really. How inconsiderate?How is a person to find the dress of their dreams??? Dresses were dirty on bottom, zippers were broken. Were told no pictures to protect the designer,However all other stores in Edmonton allowed us to take pictures to send back to daughters father for approval These stores carried the same designers. It is very obvious that people in this store need to take some Southern Charm Manners and learn what the word polite means. read more

I ordered a La Femme dress from Gemini and I thought it was the perfect dress. It was a beautiful silver on the official La Femme website and the employees at Gemini measured me and placed an order for me. However, months passed and I never received a call to pick up my dress. I had to call them myself and upon enquiry, I was told that they had already placed my dress on the floor because I had not picked it up. I thought that was unreasonable because I had waited months for this dress and I already paid for it in advance! What if somebody else bought it before I picked it up? Not only that but when I looked at the dress, it was a strange tan colour instead of silver and many of the beads were falling off. They did not allow me to try on the dress in the store so I was forced to try it on at home. I drove from the other side of town to purchase a dress from this store. I feel that Gemini should allow ladies to try on the dress they had ordered, especially if we paid hundreds of dollars for it. Even after getting measured by the employees themselves, the dress was many, many sizes too small for me. I believe that the dress might not even be a genuine La Femme dress, even though Gemini is listed as a confirmed retailer of the brand. My price of my dress coincided with that of the counterfeit versions of the dress online and the quality was terrible! I do not believe that it is a real La Femme dress. This entire experience was extremely poor for me and lead me to buy another dress from another store very last minute. I would never recommend Gemini to anyone. Save yourself the time and money and go somewhere else where they actually care about their customers! read more
