This place is great for a late night food spot. They're open 24 hours. The staff was really nice and welcoming. We ordered the crab cakes for the app and all I can say is wow! They were so delicious and you could tell they were homemade. So tasty and delicious throughout. I have to order this again when I visit. It's a must! I requested my beef roast sandwich into a warp and it was good but could've been better with extra mayo. The ingredients were fresh and the wrap was stacked with meat! We had the strawberry cheesecake for dessert and it was amazing. The particular dish was recommended to me and I can see why they hyped it up. It was pretty tasty. I came here with extremely high hopes for a classic diner meal. Lets just say, it did not go as planned. I ordered the mac and cheese, the waiter gave me a bowl of pasta in liquid with two slices of orange cheese on either side. The waiter laughed as he set it down. I had THREE bites. Immediately felt sick to my stomach, literally and emotionally. I was throwing up ALL night unable to move. I was even put on bed rest and had to miss several days of work. Guys do not come here, it is overpriced and you WILL get food poisoning. Because of this incident I can only eat bananas for the next two weeks! **** you, Gemini! This is a laid back, classic New York diner. It has an extensive menu, nice friendly staff and they don't push you out the door like most restaurants do. I've only had breakfast there, so I can't vouch for anything but the iced coffees and omlettes which are delicious! read more

The service is fantastic. There is never a lack of knowing that somebody is walking around and there is always a manager on duty. The food is unbelievably good the steak so what if it's $42 splurge a little bit in your life what are the french fries no salt well done terrific you still need ketchup and it's on the table there's no problem here. I do miss the night manager, I think his name was Spiro. He was always kind and considerate and I know he was there for about two decades. I hope he's coming back. Maybe he went to Greece? A banana pudding you have to come early in the day like this tapioca pudding gets sold out right away. It's so homemade. I'm here yet a table on 2nd Ave. and look out the window and see the cars coming down and the people walking by and enjoy nobody's kicking you out here. It's a fun place to be. I had a poor experience at this establishment 12 years ago but tonight's was just the opposite. The service was good, the lamb gyro was perfectly cooked and the restaurant was clean and well lit. I swore I'd never return but I'm so glad I did! Maybe there's a few lessons to be learned here. To restaurant owners and manages: 1 bad experience could lose a customer forever or at least a decade in my case. Readers of reviews: one bad review doesn't necessarily mean the place is awful. And maybe a final message to myself: maybe I should allow three strikes before it's called out. read more

One of our long rambling walks on our way home on a Monday evening. One of the 2 or 3 times a year we'll stop at a diner for a dessert before the last mile or so home. My husband's favorite used to be something you could rely on any diner to have - apple crumb cake. This place has only apple crumb pie (we had left a different diner about an hour earlier, for the same reason). We decided to stay anyway. To his own surprise, he loved that generous slice of pie! It was piled high with apples and covered on top with a pretty thick layer of a pretty good crumb (I had to taste it, it looked so good). He was really pleased! My lemon meringue pie was decent. I don't know why, but lately every diner's lemon meringue pie is high with overly sweet and sticky meringue and light on the lemon. I'd prefer a shorter and less sugary meringue with a bigger and tarter citrus layer beneath it. But I ate the pie without the crust and it was satisfying enough. Can't speak to the actual food here, but service and dessert were perfectly adequate. read more

Me and my friend had decided to go here for some 9pm diner experience, nothing crazy. He ordered a chicken sandwich and I had ordered the gyro. The chicken was so bland and the sandwich had no flavor (it was also missing the tomato). My gyro definitely did not look like one and I got thick tomato and onion slices that did not resemble a gyro whatsoever. The only good thing was the water and the fries were okay I guess. I really tried to give it a chance but man it was a pretty bad experience. read more

A friend of mine swore by this place and it was so good I found myself putting others on also. Took the ferry to 34th and walked over and enjoyed lunch on the deck outside. Passersby don't interrupt you as u dine and that's always a plus. The neighborhood is kind of quiet so it makes for a great little spot for cheap-ish eats and a good time. Service is always friendly too so that's always a double plus. read more

As far as diners go.... This one made me feel a little uncomfortable, but I guess that's what us Geminis do; I wouldn't expect anything less... or more lol I just grabbed wings and skins, the skins were odd, like big fries as opposed to the boats I used to get as a kid but I sorta went there with the idea to break the chicken into the skin... could t do that! Not that I wanted to at that point, got the wings fry so they were nice and crisp, sauce on the side- pretty dang good.... Ordered the famous chicken finger platter and fries as well as a caprese sandwich and mozzarella sticks for delivery. The caprese sandwich was good. Mozzarella sticks were very good diner sticks. I wish I could tell you how the fingers were, but they were literally inedible. Could not get my teeth through them. I asked my carnivore husband to try and he was like, nope. Came here after going to the movies a few blocks down. I ordered the chicken souvlaki, y cousin ordered the Tuscany wrap which was more of a grilled chicken wrap and my friend ordered a chicken quasidilla. My Greek salad was good and so were the fries but the chicken was a little over cooked where it was crispy. It looked like maybe it had been out too long before cooking it. The employees that worked there seemed very unhappy. I asked to refill my water, they did it but seemed annoyed by it. I had to ask three times for lemon slices for my water. They were not friendly at all. We still had a nice time with each other's company. I hope there is some better training in hospitality! read more

This is a local diner that is open later hours during the weekday and 24/7 on the weekends near my job and has been heaven sent since I work overnight. For the most part I try not to order at work because the prices are expensive everywhere. However, when I need to order this spot is one of my go to spots for a variety of food options and they deliver quick. I usually order through one of the food apps and never had a problem. One of my favorite dishes to order here is the turkey burger deluxe with sweet potato fries. The meal portion is big and very delicious. I've also had their chicken Parmesan with pasta and never had an issue with the taste. This is a diner I will continue to frequent and enjoy some consistent good food with fair prices. read more

Intense craving for a chicken salad triple decker hit me hard at 1am Friday night / Saturday morning. Luckily, Gemini is 24 hours.... And also QUICK service. Placed my order while on my bus ride back to Murray hill from the lower east side, and it was ready for pick up within 15 minutes- right when I got off the bus. Excellent portions. Overall 3 star rating at the time I write this is probably right. I got the Murray Hill Omelet, which was pretty good with capers and lox. It was quite dry, especially noticeable after I had an omelet the day before from Friedman's. My boyfriend asked for no cheddar cheese in his Gemini Omelet, but the waiter forgot to pass that note along to the kitchen so we had to get that remade. The portion sizes are good! read more

Hearty, good New York City diner with a huge menu. No frills, but enjoyable. Near to our hotel, we dropped in after seeing a Broadway show, which had been preceded by a really dismal dinner that we couldn't/didn't eat. We left after consuming a very satisfying late night dinner. I particularly enjoyed their avocado toast. They have a full bar, too. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. NYC has lots of this type diner, but if you're looking for something like this, Gemini is recommended. read more

I'm surprised at all the negative reviews this place has gotten. Me and a few friends visit this place once a week after hitting up the movies. The staff has always been very polite and service is quick and efficient. After a few weeks, they remembered us and had our orders memorized too. The food isn't cheap but not particularly expensive either. I imagine it's expensive running a 24/7 diner these days and I'm glad they are there for the neighborhood. As far as the food is concerned, most of the things I've had there have been really good. Burgers, chicken tenders, sandwiches, the lamb gyro, salads, most of the appetizers have all been really good and generously sized. They don't skimp on the food. All in all this is a solid choice in the neighborhood if you just want some basic diner foods. We will happily come back here every week. read more

I'm soooo disappointed in this place. We ordered on Friday and I'm still waiting on my refund. The cheesecake was moldy - my husband was sick for 2 days. Contacted them and was told someone would call me back - no one did. We called again to speak with Dino was told he wasnt in. We ended up bringing the cheesecake back on Sunday so they can see in person how terrible this was. I'm so upset and cant believe that 3 days later still havent received a refund and no formal apologies. Def. will not EVER go back or order from here again! read more

Was in town for a training. I miss comfort food like this as I grew up in PA and have a place in my heart for certain diner food. Ordered a hot Turkey sandwich with fries as the potato and soup. I put comments in to add gravy for fries too since it wasn't a side option. The Turkey sandwich came pretty dry but they did add an extra small cup of gravy for my fries. The gravy was different in the cup. It tasted like nutmeg or pumpkin or something. Not horrible but not what I was thinking. I should have read the reviews before ordering. This place is awful. Needs to be shut down. A simple order of chicken fingers was literally pink in the middle also who has chicken fingers that are a pound each. Burger came asked for medium rare was a hockey puck. Also the lettuce came with it was black and tomatoes disgusting. Plenty of good diners will never ever go back. read more

Having it made with real crab made a noticeable difference, and the dipping sauces complemented it really well. It felt like a more elevated take on something familiar. For mains, the French dip was a hit. The meat was incredibly tender, the bread had that ideal crusty exterior, and the au jus was packed with flavor--I was very glad I ordered extra. It pulled the whole dish together. We also tried the smoked whitefish Caesar, which was the only dish that didn't quite land for me. It was a well-made, fresh salad, but the smoked fish flavor was a bit overpowering and took over the balance of the dish. Even though we were too full for dessert, the restaurant surprised us with a scoop of strawberry ice cream with chocolate sauce to celebrate my sister-in-law's babymoon. It ended up being one of the most memorable bites of the meal--we're still talking about how good that ice cream was. We arrived right at 11:45, and by the time we left, the place was absolutely buzzing. It's clearly a popular spot, and for good reason. Between the lively atmosphere, strong service, and well-executed food, I'd highly recommend making a reservation if you can.

The bread that comes with it is nice for finishing that gorgeous sauce which does have a sprinkling of parm. The broccolini had a a touch of garlic and served with a lemon. You can judge a restaurant by its guests. The other solo diners beside me were locals, there for the food. Next time I'll try the vodka sauce with burrata.
