This restaurant has been down the street from me for a few years, and I have constantly talked about how I need to pop in (but I always forget!)! It's super cute both on the inside and outside patio, and always looks like the patrons are enjoying great food. I finally was able to come on over now that I'm working from home so much, and enjoy their happy hour. Both in quality and in price, it's one of the best in town. They have a 5 for $5 style, where they offer 5 drinks and 5 food items each for $5 during happy hour. I've tried a few of the different items, and have always enjoyed them! You can mix and match, but ultimately can enjoy a few drinks and appetizers without spending too much - even if you're alone. I personally recommend both the Truffle-Park Fries and the Queso Fundido (both are fantastic). You can't go wrong here! read more

Always perfect. Never a miss from service to food. Maybe the music is too loud and not quite fitting. But everything else outstanding

We've been coming for years. We love the changes that have been made. However a recent visit with friends who had never been had a few issues. Our server was most unpleasant. Tried to rush us many times. No one was waiting so not sure why. And our guests who had the swordfish chop, on our recommendation, pointed out how bland the plate felt. For a few cents, green beans or any side would elevate the plate. Anything would have helped. For the price we realize it felt chintzy. With so many good options around we may not be visiting as much as we have been. read more

The people are very nice and the ambience is great. The problem is the menu. Most items are either deep fried or coated in some kind of butter / fat-based sauce. The drink menu is also overpriced. read more

Stopped by for lunch on a Saturday afternoon in the city. Every other place was packed but this place was fairly empty. Ordered the chicken tings nachos for my entree and boy was I disappointed. I was expecting a few more nachos for $2 a bite. Also ordered the baby beet salad and the g burger. Both of those were very good. Wish I had ordered that over the nachos which were just a little underwhelming. Presentation was spot on for everything. Good #foodie spot for instagram. read more

I ordered take-out dinner from Gemini, and decided to go with an order of the Brussel Sprouts & an order of the Barbacoa Empanadas. The Brussel Sprouts were excellent, roasted to perfection and the bacon bits added tons of flavor. The Barbacoa Empanadas I was underwhelmed by... it could also be because I was expecting normal sized empanadas. They were veryyy tiny. The meat inside the empanada was good, but the dish itself was nothing special and not something I would be jumping to order again. TLDR? Get the Brussel Sprouts, skip the Empandas:). I'll have to come back and dine in to see if I have a better experience! read more

Love Gemini! Such delicious food and drinks and amazing patio! Huge perk it's dog friendly. Our pup loves dining out and had a great time hanging on the patio and snagging a little steak from me too! Gemini has been a fav for us for over 7 years but now that we have our pup it's moving higher on the list with the great patio! Thanks for having us and looking forward to next visit! read more

First impression:: My fiancé is from Chicago and has wanted to try this place for a while. We were walking around the city and needed a rest stop to grab some beers and food. Since it was so Nice outside, the patio to the Gemini looks so inviting. We were a little late for lunch so there was no crowd outside but there were several people who were happy to help us. Food/Drinks:: We had dinner reservations so we only wanted to grab a snack, and at first glance the menu items are a bit on the pricey side. But the plates are so beautiful and they taste so good that it is no doubt worth the price. They had an amazing beer list and our waiter was very helpful with my selection as there were a few that I had never tried. I had the Maplewood Charlatan ($8) and my fiancé had the Left Hand Sawtooth ($7). Both were very tasty. Mine had a lot more flavor and a great hobby finish. I wanted to go with a logger because it was so hot outside, but he is shirred me that this would still be a refreshing choice. The food on paper looks great. My fiancé and I had no trouble in both picking the same two starters we wanted to split. Duck Confit Nachos ($17) & the Greek Lamb Meatballs ($15). I'm going to post the pictures of our food but on first to look they are super tiny compared to the price. I have had nacho plate for way less that are at Mountain. But honestly the food was so good! I took my half of the nachos down in one by each because it had the perfect amount of pepper, cheese, avocado that you need while The deck was still feeling and tender and very tasty. If I could only suggest one it would be the nachos for sure. The meatballs were amazing too. Also a one bite app, with the perfect amount of Tzatziki sauce and a very unique seasoning flavor, that I think was the fennel. If I had more time in Chicago I would definitely come back to this place for dinner. There are too many great combinations that I would be super excited to see the Chef's take on all of these dishes. read more

Stopped in here for dinner one night. Service was a little slow but the waiter was really nice. This place is really hyped up to me so I was excited to try it out. I was kind of underwhelmed. Food seemed a little overpriced and I was in super happy with the taste. I got the Burger which seem to get on paper but I wasn't too happy about it. The person with me also got Caesar salad with a side of truffle fries. The roads are really good but I will definitely try other places around. read more

Went to Gemini for the first time and it is definitely worth going there for dinner. It is traditional American food and they do it right. Went with in-laws and we sat inside. It was noisy, so keep that in mind if you go with individuals who have trouble hearing in loud spaces. we went on a Friday night in the summer and the staff was kind but a little slow- we just kept waving over our server when we needed something. The food- I didn't even get a chance for photos because we all just immediately devoured our food. The Parker house rolls and a great start to the meal and came out super warm. I had the vegetarian risotto and added a piece of salmon to it- the risotto was excellent. It was cooked properly, great flavor and the salmon on top was the perfect addition. The salmon had a great seared top and wasn't overcooked. The rest of the table also enjoyed all of there dishes- the steak, salmon dish and burger. The only comment was they wished their meats were cooked more to true medium vs medium rare. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back read more

Been here a few times and given the choice I don't think I'll be back... Always just left underwhelmed. Interior is quite lovely, but service continues to decline (and annoy) and food is hit or miss, especially given the prices. Example: to swap included hash browns side in dish you get up charged $3. Even for the "fruit bowl" which is barely even a cup of fruit, half of which is melon because of course it is. -_- I also love eggs benedict and somehow they just make it...sad. Definitely get the brunch cinnamon roll though! Best thing they have. read more

Came here for brunch a few weeks ago. Had a good experience as we sat outside. Service was fine. Solid not great. The ambience outside is awesome. Very relaxing. I had the burger and fries, which were both very good. The fires weren't too thick, which I appreciated. My partner had the chilaquiles, which were also pretty good. Coffee was very good. I'd give it five stars if the prices were a little better, but they're not unreasonable. Will definitely come back. read more

We ordered out from Gemini for a celebratory dinner and it was delicious! My husband ordered the salmon (likely some of the best salmon I have had in many, many years) and I ordered the risotto. We also ordered some rolls (EXCELLENT, you must order the rolls!) to enjoy, and enjoy we did! The risotto was tasty and very well cooked, but I think I will have to order the salmon the next time we go to or order out from Gemini (yes, we will be back!). Although we didn't sit down for our meal, the ambiance inside and outside is absolutely lovely. Next time!! read more

I've been here a couple of times, most recently for brunch. The space inside is really nice, and outdoor seating is good as well. Our waitress was responsive and on top of things. I had a turkey club and the pastry tasting menu. The food is good, but nothing too special. I enjoy my time here, but it's not a must-see. read more

Service was a little slow at the beginning but the burger and rolls were amazing!!! Sat outside and it was such a vibe.

CRW 2019 brunch review 1/26 I totally underestimated this restaurant. I thought it would be small proportions d/t the $$$ and a cramped space based on location. Boy was I wrong! Ambiance: Modern with natural lighting. The space is small but not cramped by any means. I reserved the table for 10 (8 came) and we were at a half booth/table seating. We didn't feel squished at all. Service: Our waiter didn't mind taking a few polaroids of the group. He even offered to take more if we wanted! The dishes came out in a timely manner and he split the checks between each pair. Food: It was my first time splitting into pairs for RW so we could share different dishes, which -whew!- because I was having a tough time deciding only one from each category! Everything sounded delicious. Sticky cinnamon buns (4/5): Not too sweet and big portion for one person! We really had to push ourselves to finish it because it was a lot. Hmmm I'm wondering why didn't we just take some home lol Mini chorizo empanadas (5/5): A hit at the table! When they say mini, they mean mini. I kind of wished my friend and I both ordered this because two pieces each left us wanting more! Chicken parm cutlet (5/5): Great sandwich. The flavor, breading, cheese, and garlic aioli all came together. The fries were okay. Mexican chorizo chilaquiles (5/5): One of the best chilaquiles I've had. It was super flavorful, I loved the sauces, and liked how it was topped with fried egg. The chocolate: We both ordered this for dessert so no sharing here! The creme was light and refreshing, not dense and heavy (although we were quite full by this time). I really enjoyed this dessert. The cookies were a nice touch but I thought they were too sweet. Other orders: Housemade granola (4/5): My friends loved this! I tried some and it was really good. My friend mentioned how she likes there's more granola than yogurt. Strawberries and cream waffle (3/5): K and T thought it was average tasting. Cranberry-vodka sorbet (2/5): My friend complained it was too acidic. TL;DR - Great food! Come here for brunch, you won't regret it! read more

Looking for a family friendly restaurant or a night out with friends? Look no further. Gemini is probably one of the best restaurants in Lincoln Park for night outs with the family or friends. It's a cute establishment. Has dining outside. So theres' that. Server was slow, slow to acknowledge, slow to get drinks, slow to get food order. She was really not on her game personality wise either. This isn't a diner & its (not high end either) But ppl will spend quite a bit on everything here, w cocktails etc. We had 2 cocktails, 2 brunch entrees, spent min $70 bf tip so.. I do expect better service, better food , better execution of everything. The food: The eggs benedict were not served with anything. Just the benedict no breakfast pots nada. The ham? I'm used to a thicker cut. This wasn't that. The hollandaise wasn't great either. You want that to be the rich and creamy this was just "ok". The chicken sand? Again, you can get this sandwich literally anywhere, it was ok too. The cocktail? Hibiscus 75.. The first on I finally got? Was actually quite good but it came way after it was ordered. Like 1 sec bf we got the food way after. The 2nd one? same cocktail. Came and was comepletely missing both the bubbles and the flower "garnish".. it didn't remotely look the same. Again, no server to be found had to flag down a well meaning mgr. Who then just poured the bubbles on top like that was the "fix" for a $15 drink. In any case, we didn't think the totaility of the experience was worth it. If you're local it's fine for a drink. read more

Picture this...an eerily quiet, foggy night, reddish sky before an impending snow storm, driving down Lincoln Avenue, and there it is suddenly appearing through the fog--a magnificent white marble flatiron building. Gemini Bistro standing valiantly at the intersection. As you step inside, you immediately feel the warm and inviting atmosphere and it beckons you to come in. Dark woods and leather booths ooze a casual, elegant, sensuous, cozy, romantic feel. Large drum pendants cast a beautiful sepia-toned glow onto the patrons below. A delightful greet from the host. A coat rack conveniently located behind the host stand if you choose to get rid of your bulky winter coat. My best girls and I settled into our booth. A wonderful glass of Pinot Noir warmed me up while we waited for our first course selections to arrive. Though it was Restaurant Week, we decided to sample a few things off the regular dinner menu. The beet salad was the only thing that was a bit off to me, didn't taste as great as I would've imagined. The potato leek soup was buttery and delicious. Short rib ravioli with tomato marmalade was fabulous, the sweetness of the marmalade added a nice unique flavor. We got the last swordfish of the night and lucky us, it was heavenly!! Served with Roma tomatoes, olives, and capers, it was flavorful and well prepared, probably the best dish of the night. The mushroom risotto was creamy and delicious. Grilled lamb chops--juicy and flavorful--my second favorite dish of the night. Carrot cake for dessert, lighter tasting than your usual carrot cake but still good. I wish it hadn't been served so cold, it should have been warmed up to room temperature. Our server Jen was knowledgeable about the menu and provided great recommendations. We had so many great dishes but there was still so much more I wanted to try. I look forward to coming back here with someone very special. read more

Came here for a weekend brunch with my parents and thought it was pretty good overall. We got the bloody mary's, not bottomless, but they were really good. The habanero vinegar was a perfect kick in there, so that's probably what I was most impressed by. Food was alright, we got the flight of pastries and really liked those and it was a fun way to split them and try them all. I ordered the veggie frittata, which I though lacked in flavor. I wish the salad on top had some vinegar to add a pop, or served with a side of sour cream, as it was, I thought it wasn't the best choice. The rest of the table ordered eggs benedict, which those were good and the bacon was nice and thick, and then some steak and eggs. Steak and eggs were above average, the steak wasn't really what I was expecting with the char on it and the two plates cook was a little inconsistent on them though they both ordered medium rare. The hash browns, also are not really hash, they are potato chunks that are really nice and crispy, so not complaining on that, just not what I would expect with a hash. Service was really good and our waitress was super friendly. It's definetly a good place to try, especially with the quality of drinks and the bottomless brunch, but food alone isn't something I would recommend it on. read more

Biggest epiphany of the meal: Gemini Bistro is now my go-to place for mussels AND risotto! Wow, the mussels au pernod were heaven on earth! Flavorful (bacon-y, creamy, savory), easy to eat, and plentiful: the triple threat that all foods strive to be! Anyone who's dined with me regularly in the past few months will notice that I'm a martini gal, specifically a lemon drop martini gal. So, of course, having had a long, draining week, Friday night dinner was the perfect occasion to try Gemini's take on the LDM. I'm surprised to say that I really didn't care too much for it (though if you were to ask me if I finished it all, the answer would be yes). Heavy handed on the vodka meant little lemon flavor came through; balance is important people! Other than that, service was good, and the tables were a little cramped in proximity to one another. On top of that, the table tops for 2 are on the small side, but this will be no matter when you go to mussel and risotto heaven! read more

We love Gemini and it has become our usual Sunday night dinner spot. It's a convenient two minute walk from the house for us but if you're driving, there is lots of free parking nearby. I recommend setting up a reservation to be on the safe side, especially if you want patio seating. If you're looking for a last minute slot, the bar hasn't let us down yet. The menu is on the smaller side but each item is always good. We usually grab a 1-2 apps (octopus is delicious and mussels are good), 2 mains (roasted 1/2 chicken and blackened pork tenderloin, and a side (the brussels are my absolute favorite and truffle parm fries are yummy too). If you're not too hungry, the salads are good but quite small from a portion standpoint. Sunday's specialty is the fried chicken dinner and comes with quite a bit of food (we usually go home with leftovers). I love the cocktails and think bartenders always do a great job with these. We have found the service to be delightful each time we've gone. If it seems service is slow, it is most likely because they are busier than they planned or someone called in sick. They take a lot of pride in their service so cut some slack if you find yourself in this situation. The manager has always walked around to check on everyone and ensure they are enjoying their meal and drinks are full. Lastly, their to-go cocktail kits during the COVID shutdown were always tasty and super convenient. Thanks for helping us get through the last year and a half Gemini team! read more

Very cute place to have a drink or sit on the patio. Service was great (shout out to Brandon ).

Gemini is a Lincoln Park brunch classic! I have never been for dinner. They've got a good menu, with both sweet and savory options. Staff was very kind, and outdoor seating can be nice if not too hot. The food comes in good-sized portions, leaving you satisfied and full. I recommended the mushroom benedict (or any of the benedicts), strawberries and cream waffles, empanadas, truffle-part fries, and greek lamb meatballs. I would not recommend the chilaquiles here; they weren't my favorite. Mimosas are always a great addition too MUST: order the sticky buns at brunch!!!! So delicious! read more

What a remarkable place! Shocked that I wasn't aware of it. We went with friends and started with lobster rolls and tuna tartare. A great way to start. Then we had a small tomato salad followed by an outstanding small wedge salad. The bacon chunks melted in our mouth. Then the entrees. Our server suggested a swordfish chop, which I would have never thought to try. Amazingly good! The vegetable tortellini, pancetta wrapped chicken, and Ahi tuna tataki were also outstanding. It's hard to believe these amazing meals came from this small casual restaurant! I can't wait to try the rest of their food! I almost forgot the side of truffle parm fries. Dessert was equally good. We had some flavorful sorbet and ice cream, salted toffee creme brûlée , and a rich chocolate pot de creme and house made oreo chocolate crumble. Wow! read more

I've walked past Gemini countless times, but there hasn't really been a fancy life event or occasion going on to inspire me to visit. Luckily, this past Saturday, my boyfriend made a 6:30 reservation to take me here for dinner to celebrate a relationship milestone. WOO! First of all, it was beauuuuutiful inside. I knew in advance from Yelp reviews that it was upscale, so I was surprised to see a big, honkin' TV in the middle of the room at the bar area. But I guess people like their sports. I don't know how they can focus on them, though, with the incredible menu here! I was raised to be very frugal, but my boyfriend loves to go all out when we dine out, so he always picks an appetizer or two. He ordered the Parker House Rolls, because, and I quote, he was "impressed that they charge you to put bread on the table." I hadn't even thought of that, but, damn, the bread was exquisite and fluffy. So, fine, Gemini. Charge me for my bread. Along with our starters, we also ordered a bottle of wine. We're both red lovers, so we went with the Château Loudenne. It did the trick, friends. This is my wine recommendation. Also, please don't be impressed with my memory of the wine's name -- I just looked it up again on their menu. 0:) After we ate all of the rolls, we were ready for our entrees, of course! He went with the Atlantic Swordfish Chop (which doesn't come with a side, so you're aware, though they tell you this upon ordering), and he loved it. It was a nice, thick chop. I love a good Tortelloni, so I ordered... a burger. Just kidding, I ordered the Vegetable Tortelloni. It was fabulous. I do wish the portion was a little larger, but when you're at fancy spots, that's usually just not the case! Somehow we still had room for dessert, and I'd seen a crème brûlée walk by earlier, so crème brûlée was what I wanted. Badly. Maybe I hadn't had one in awhile, but I was absolutely in love and thought about that dessert for like, two full days. If you're looking for a nice date spot or even to treat your damn self, because you're worth it, Gemini is a great choice in Lincoln Park! read more

The place is good. But the issue here is how they let kids kinda take over and dominate. They put high chairs in the aisle to the bathroom, so nobody could walk easily through, especially older people with walkers. They really should not be putting chairs like that in the path people need to walk. This is also NOT wheelchair assessable when they put high chairs out like that. High chairs should only be at the tables where there is space, not the booths. I will also say the prices are very high for what you get. Good drinks but smaller pours than any where else in the neighborhood. This place would be great, but they would rather it be a playground for families so that ruins the vibe and experience. read more

Great local bistro! We had the 1/2 chicken and hanger steak. So yummy! The sauce for the chicken made the whole dish. The truffle Parmesan fries are also great to order for the table. Lots of great wines and cocktails to choose from. I recommend the Hemington daiquiri. If you can sit outside on their patio, it's also a great date night spot (the inside was quite loud). I can tell that this is a very popular spot in Lincoln Park. We will be coming back! read more
