Gemini's is easily one of the best neighborhood bar/ restaurant's one could visit. "Elegantly casual" if that's even a thing & no I do not know, related to, of have any vested interest in this establishment. It's just that good for the $$. THE BEST M.R. 8oz filet Steak Frites I have ever had. I had a taste of my friend's haricots verts, capers, lemon, brown butter Wild Alaskan Halibut ( fish of the day). It is/ was the best tasting fish (again) I've ever had. One would think I walked into Gemini many days famished due to my pleasant excitement about the food. Well I wasn't famished. We LOVE Gemini. Ultimately, I have nothing but great things to say about this place! The ambience is dim but not dark, rumbly but not noisy or loud, and toes the line of upscale casual. My partner and I came in for our anniversary a few weeks ago and we were received with incredible hospitality, complimentary champagne to celebrate, and friendly and attentive service from our servers, Ozzie and Charles (who was training at the time). We started with the prosciutto and burrata crostini, which was very well-balanced and delicate, and mussels provencal, which were a home run. I had the trout meunière -- so fabulous that even the leftovers were great -- and my partner had the steak frites, also fabulous. Yes, we ate a lot. Yes, it was all great. Gemini has been on my restaurant bucket list for a long time, so when I saw they had a restaurant week deal I booked a reservation immediately. Unfortunately, they did not live up to my expectations. I have a severe nut allergy to five specific nuts, which I noted when I booked the reservation, and when we checked in the hostess asked to confirm that someone in our party had a nut allergy, so I thought everything was fine. However, after we had ordered pastries (chocolate croissant) and already started eating, our waitress came up to the table and asked if someone had a nut allergy. I said yes but that I had ordered the chocolate croissant, not the granola, and then asked if there were nuts in the croissant. She said there might be and went to ask the kitchen, and then came back to tell me that she could neither confirm nor deny if there were nuts in the croissant and if there were couldn't tell me what types of nuts would be there. I found this bizarre, confusing, and pretty scary! For a place that knew about my allergy going in and asked when I arrived about it, I don't really understand how I didn't get warned about possible nuts (but not sure what type of nuts) until I was already eating the food. Also, the fact that they couldn't say what kinds of nuts might be there indicates they don't make a lot of stuff in-house. Really not the experience I'm looking for when I go out. The rest of the food was mediocre (eggs benedict, turkey club, lobster caesar), just overall pretty bland. They also apparently only have white bread as a sandwich option which seems strange. The best thing about this place is the interior aesthetic, but aesthetic can only get you so far. Sadly, I don't think I'll be returning. read more

Went to Gemini for brunch and had a great time! Service was great. They were very busy for brunch, so we ended up waiting 15-20 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. They brought us a free glass of champagne while we waited, and also gave a brunch appetizer on the house for having to wait. It was their french toast bread pudding--was absolutely delicious! We also ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and Lincoln park turkey club. All really good and our server was also great. Will definitely go back :) read more

This restaurant is so cute and happy. Surrounded by windows and looks like a French bistro. Went for brunch and our meal was amazing. The egg dish was so savory delicious. Wow! Where do I even begin? Gemini is more than a restaurant - it's a culinary experience. The cocktail menu alone is one of the most unique you will ever see and includes a mezcal-based drink called a "San Pancho" (loved it!). The tuna tartare is the best I've ever tasted, and the parmesan truffle fries were PERFECT. Every dish we tried was pure perfection, but the icing on the cake was the service we received from our server, Alex! We came here for dinner. I don't recommend coming here extremely hungry because I think the portions are pretty small for the price. I did think the food was good but nothing spectacular. I left full but not full enough. I think someone also mentioned that the tip is added after the tax because they hand you one of those electric devices to input your card and select a tip. That really needs to change. I don't know that I will be back anytime soon. read more

I love this place! Had heard great things about their brunch menu so had to check it out. I went a couple of months ago and was intrigued with their cocktail "The Kensington" and it was everything I would have wanted. It had gin and wine! The waitress highly recommended it also! I had the Lincoln Park Benedict and my friend got the Mexican chilaquiles and both were amazing. The atmosphere was very modern and inviting. There was a huge group next to us with kids so it is kid friendly! Really hoping I can visit soon after this pandemic is over since they have a cute outdoor seating area! read more

I used to dine here quite often when it was Gemini Bistro. It was consistently good. A couple of block walk and a go-to on week nights and weekends. They closed to remodel and reopened as Gemini. In the meantime, I moved a mile south and it was less convenient. Tonight, for the first time, we went back to try it out. Started well. A few martinis. Appetizers. Salads. All the while watching Monday Night Football. Right as I was about to order the entrees the channel is changed to baseball. I protested. We had been at the bar longer then anyone and the Chicago rule is first come, first served. Nope. Not here. I was told 'sorry'. So I paid my bill and left. Drove 3 minutes to Topo Gigio and ordered a fantastic set of entrees, some wine and desert. And they had both the football and the baseball game on so everyone was happy. My suggestion is that you avoid Gemini (it was practically vacant anyway) and head straight to Topo! read more

Super friendly and put us at a table inside but the window were open and felt like you were sitting outside....they do have outside seating, but sitting where we did in a booth was much more comfortable. I had the most perfect egg sandwich here! It seems like such a simple meal, but I can't count the number of places where I got an egg sandwich where something was off. This was so delicious. The English muffin it came on was perfectly toasted so it hit a nice balance of crispy yet doughy. The eggs were fluffy, the cheddar cheese was perfectly melted, and I loved the spread of garlic aioli. I've never had that on an egg sandwich before but it was an amazing addition. There was an option of meat but since they were all pork-based, I asked if I could substitute for some avocado instead. I was so impressed by the quality of the avocado. So many times I've gone to restaurants where they've given a tiny portion, pieces are overripe, or pieces have gone brown. At Gemini, they were very generous with their portion and it was perfect quality. So delicious with the aioli, egg, and cheese! At $14 it is a little steep, but comes with a nice side of crispy potato hash. I liked how the potatoes were very crispy and there were some peppers and onions sprinkled in for more flavor. Chef Ernesto really killed in on dinner! The swordfish was the best meal I have ever eaten! We had absolutely no complaints about anythings! The host staff was courteous from the second we walked in to the minute we left, the wait staff kept our drinks full and continually checked on us to make sure everything was on point. Did not have a good time. I brought a friend from out of town and got bottomless drinks, however there was a bottom and it was pretty shallow. They were so understaffed that I was only able to get one drink despite being there for almost 2 hours. I had to go get the check myself because no one would bring it. However, as time passed, a girl with a dog was seated in a two person table with her dog in the nice area. That didn't exactly rub me the right way; I digress. In addition, I ordered a side of truffle fries and a 'shaken espresso'. There were two vegetarian options consisting of risotto and cavatapi (unsure on the spelling) neither of which appealed to me. The menu was disappointing to be quite honest. Not a single vegan option and the veggie dishes were too limited. For two drinks and fries, I paid $33. With tip, $40. Fries were $11, espresso $7, glass of wine $11. Honestly, I found it rather over priced overall. Not sure if I'll be back. Everything I did take part in was tasty and refreshing, so aside from the odd seat placement, limited menu, and overpriced items, it was a reasonably pleasant experience. read more

Do not go to this establishment unless you plan on having an excellent meal. They have great menus, both the brunch and dinner, that bring a tasteful variety that can suit most if not all dietary restrictions. You can rely on great service here. It isn't a quiet restaurant, but it's quiet enough where you can have private discussions with your table and there isn't loud music blasting at all. I'd suggest making a reservation and the brunch drink deal is pretty unmatched. read more

I can't say enough about this great restaurant~ Both the food and service were A+! We came in a little earlier than opening time for dinner because my friend and I had skipped lunch.. Amanda (Their beverage director) came right over to welcome us and gave us a nice table outside. She couldn't of been nicer! Our server Shaylene was friendly as well, and also very accommodating. For starters, I ordered the house salad, and my friend opted for the Tuna. I came here with my family to celebrate and we all loved it! The atmosphere and service was great while the food was equally as good and flavorful. I loved all the appetizers we all ordered, especially the prosciutto & burrata crostini. The crostini was like biting into an explosion of flavors with incredibly fresh ingredients. The grilled octopus was perfectly cooked and the sauces were tasty and complimented the octopus well. The mussels were also perfectly cooked and were soaked in a wonderful sauce. The salad was also very fresh and tasty, although I reserved most of my stomach for my entree. It was my first time having swordfish, and I was not disappointed. It was so soft and flavorful and they were very generous with the portion size. If you never had swordfish before, I definitely recommend trying it from here! The burger and vegetable cavatappi were both good as well. I loved the mushrooms in the cavatappi while the side of truffle Parmesan fries with garlic aioli were heavenly. The desserts were equally as good. I loved the warm and moist cake of the pineapple upside down cake but didn't really enjoy the ginger ice cream. The cake alone was perfect though. The creme caramel brûlée had a wonderful whipped creme fraiche on top that added nice flavor and texture. Came here for brunch and was really impressed by the quality of my burger! It was easily one of the most delicious burgers I've ever had - perfectly cooked, with crispy pancetta and a good combo of cheese and sauce. The fries were a bit bland, nothing to write home about, but the burger more than made up for that. My SO got the Parmesan chicken sandwich, which was also really delicious. It was surprisingly delicate for a breaded chicken sandwich, and I would highly recommend it as well. The ambience of the restaurant is really nice. It's laid back, but the service is excellent! My only gripe with Gemini is that the portions are too small for the high prices. It hurt a little to pay almost $20 for a burger and fries and to leave feeling a bit hungry. Had such an AMAZING experience at Gemini! We were visiting Chicago just for the weekend and before visiting we watched a YouTube travel guide on restaurants to try and this place was recommended as one. Just from the video the food looked amazing, so we decided to give it a try. We originally had plans to go to Geminis for lunch at 12pm on a Saturday but didn't realize lunch started at 2pm, so we tried making dinner reservations instead, but we were told they were fully booked but if we tried arriving around 5:30-6pm we may be able to catch seats at the bar since they are full service at the bar as well. We figured we would give it a try and when we arrived, we were able to get two seats at the bar. The atmosphere was amazing, and the staff was super nice. I ordered the Squirtsky draft cocktail, which was delicious, and for an appetizer we ordered the warm parker house rolls which was SO GOOD! For dinner we both ordered the Maple Glazed Salmon with the truffle-parmesan fries and roasted cauliflower, and everything tasted AMAZING! Next time we visit Chicago we are for sure going back to Geminis! read more

A very popular neighborhood spot, but unfortunately the neighborhood is Lincoln Park so no parking. That said, this restaurant is popular among the locals, and among those who don't mind spending a lot on food that is, at best, mediocre. We were at Gemini a few times when it first opened, but it has been a downhill course that often comes with success. Had their Sunday special -- fried chicken. Totally dry! With breading that was absurdly thick and mashed potatoes whose gravy was congealed. And over $35 for that mess. Plus tax, tip, etc. Popeyes way better! Too bad. read more

Came here on Mother's Day, and everything was fantastic. The space is very family friendly, while still staying very trendy/hip looking. The food was fantastic and the service was top notch. I was in town visiting my sister, who is new to the area, and wow! Our experience at Gemini was an incredible welcome to Chicago. Our table wasn't quite ready, so we took a seat at the bar to enjoy a glass while waiting, and I'm so glad we did! The bartender was very nice and accommodating, and her champagne suggestion was on point Our meal was absolutely delicious...no other way to describe it. Best part?
