Terrific concept for delivery of fresh salads using top notch local ingredients that worked even for me, a choosy make-it-myself-salad-maven, when learning many of her ingredients were sourced from the local farmers and makers I use in my own kitchen. I ordered three salads in the first order, to qualify for free delivery at that time, and each was large enough to use as main course for my husband and me to share as dinner meals. The deliciously fresh salads come beautifully composed in the recyclable boxes with really good, perfect really, dressings packed separately.
Since I deconstructed each of the boxes to reconstruct, and in the case of the Caesar to toss in a large wooden bowl, to serve two, my only "If I could wave a magic wand" update would be to have the lettuce greens at the bottom of the containers more thoroughly dried. I did that myself after removing them. I worked in an up end restaurant a million years ago and the chef was clear that salad greens had to be dry and so it is in my home kitchen too.
OWNERS DO THE BEST JOB OF DESCRIPTIONS: Owners spend a lot of time thinking about how to summarize their businesses in marketing material and I think it useful to share it. "At Gem Jolie, every salad is a celebration of the Treasure Valley. We partner with local farmers who share our values of sustainability and integrity, sourcing hydroponic, biodynamic, and organic produce whenever possible. Our dressings are plant-powered and protein-rich, our croutons are gluten-free, and nearly 90% of our menu comes straight from the land we call home."
DELIVERY DETAILS: Order (online) by 5p on Saturday for the once a week delivery on Tuesday between noon and 3:00p. Orders arrive in insulated yellow bags with ice pack.
