My son, my mom, and I went to Junction Gelato today and my son was very sad that the whole kids section has been taken out. It was such a good idea to keep the kids busy. I am 77 years of age, so we both have a great deal of experience to call on, but also some traditional and settled preferences. We settled on chocolate ice cream choices. We found the ice cream to be the highest quality, but the chocolate flavors to be "just chocolate." We ordered 3 different flavors, all were the same (not good), even the caramel. How do you mess up a caramel?! Also, simplify your menu they offer a lot of food items, and even CBD (weird). Such a cute little shop. The Ice cream/ gelatos were wonderful. I liked all the different flavors. They gave very large portions for the price so that was nice, but I happened to be super sugared up and so did my kids. The next time I go in I will be splitting and not getting a portion for myself. One of the things I really enjoyed about this place was the space. You had the shop portion up front and there were a few tables to enjoy your gelatos and it was totally like a traditional small Ice cream shop on any small town main strip. However, they have a very long shop and if you continue down the hall you will find a back area that had a section built up just for kids, with toys and a few tables. I loved this part because I was able to visit with my sister-in-law while my kids played and got their energy out without disturbing the other customers and we were able to enjoy our time and the kids were entertained while eating their ice cream. I recommend you trying the more unusual flavors at least once! You'll be surprised how delicious those typically savory flavors are in gelato form! I like that there are the typical "safe" flavors or kid flavors for the less adventurous individuals or my kid, who shies away from those flavors that make her hesitate. They offer cups (different sizes) or cones. Friendly service, with seating inside and outside. Answering the most recent negative review: Thank you for the comment, Valerie. It is not an employee's fault that the website wasn't updated. I had checked google the day of and the times had been updated to our winter hours on there so I'm not sure why they weren't on the website. I was not sure what you wanted me to do. I said "the website must not have been updated because we change hours in the winter." And you kept repeating "your website said 6." As if there were something I could do about it. You asked if I could serve it because it's icecream. The first thing we do when we close is take the gelato out and stick it in a different freezer, while covering the icecream tubs. It would have been rock-solid and the scoops had already been washed and sanitized. Honestly you stunned me for a moment. I was dumbfounded that someone was THAT entitled that they would go to an employee of a small business and demand that they be served icecream in a closed shop because they were "supposed to be open for the next half hour." First stop in but loved it. Service was nice and friendly. Ice cream was delicious and so were the shakes. The pistachio ice cream has pineapple chunks which was interesting but not my fav. I had a whole scoop though, so I can say it's good despite the strange pineapple addition. The strawberry had a jam taste throughout- good but a bit too "fake" sugary for me. My brother loved the Jack Daniels' Chocolate, and I was very much intrigued by the wine sundae (maybe next time!). They also serve hot dogs and sandwiches for lunch. Downside- a bit expensive for a cone of ice cream. I guess it's competitive with the other local places, but it seems a bit much for multiple visits. I guess it needs to be more of a "special treat" place. I spent $16 (not including tip) on two shakes and an ice cream cone. That being said, the service was awesome and definitely earned a tip. Tip your ice cream servers, especially if they're knowledgable and nice like ours was today! In sum, good place. Would come again. read more

While they attempt interesting choices, it is all some sort if weak sauce almost flavors over vanilla. The so called Gelato is just over priced ice cream with bad mouth feel, large ice crystals in it and makes Dairy Queen seem like some sort of major flavor sensation. The staff is pretty friendly and definitely small town (if a local is in the store, be prepared to wait till their conversation is complete - not uncommon among a multitude of the businesses in the area) We tried a couple different flavors - i chose the coconut and the cafe - and received a gigantic 3 scoop - all stacked up - cup of yumminess! Pretty decent ice cream and gelato shop. Last time I was here I had the Peach and "Chocolate Chip" Gelato in a split scoop for their small size. The portion was very generous, yay! Although, the consistency of both was a little off, which was kind of a bummer. On my visit before, the gelato I had was pretty spot on. I'm hoping for a fluke in that particular day's make, or maybe the laser heat rays were changing the consistancy before my vailed eyes... I don't know. Not sure what the negative reviews are all about, but I got a hefty bowl of ignore-your-loved-ones-until-its-finished gelato and my lactose intolerant brother got a 100% dairy free scoop that was so close in taste to it's fatty-delicious-dairy-filled counterpart that he almost placeboed himself into a stomach ache***. The gal working was gelato PhD status and gave me a streamlined run down that allowed me to once and for all wrap my head around the culinary difference between ice cream and gelato. We were looking for some kind of pastry dessert after dinner and walked past this place. I'm so glad we went in. Their gelato is fantastic. They make it fresh there and use a lot of fresh local ingredients, like the palisade plum flavor I ended up going with. We were on a road trip at the time so odds are we won't be back there soon.
