Ice cream! You scream! We all scream for ice cream! It is always nice to discover a hidden gem to find in Kiribilli / North Sydney Australia.
Thankful that I found this gelato shoppe here while searching for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Don't you just love ice cream?! For me, I probably could have any chance I can get, but you know I'd be grossly obese, if I did. Thankful that I'm not like that, although my craving for chocolate ice cream remains stronger than ever. For the most part though, this gelato ice cream parlor is one you can find anywhere in the world. The shop is set up to be like that. They have around 15 - 20 flavors of homemade gelato and it is staffed by enthusiastic people who enjoy ice cream as much as the next person. The service itself can be categorized as being fast, friendly, and really the best ever. They explained to me that they have both cones and cups, although the cups are really small - even for the large size. I ended up getting the large size and got a healthy dose of the chocolate gelato. It was to celebrate my birthday a bit early and to indulge my ice cream fantasies for just one more time before getting a year older.
Try it if you are in the area! The overall experience here at the Gelatissimo gelato bar here in Kiribilli / North Sydney Australia was good and average at the same time. The enthusiasm and passion for gelato that these servers have was infectious and definitely brought a smile to my face. While gelato seemed to be a bit different that gourmet ice cream we have in the United States, gelato seems to be the next best thing. It's definitely a nice cold sweet treat to have any day or time of the week. For the most part though, my experience here was more or less 5 minutes. Choosing the flavor of gelato seemed to be the toughest decision, but once I saw that they have chocolate, I just decided on that, as I am one of those people who love love chocolate. Gelatissimo - Kiribilli is located on Broughton Street here in the main thoroughfare of Kiribilli / North Sydney Under the shadow of the Sydney harbor bridge. Not sure if they accept major credit cards, since I paid with local currency, so that was nice. With that said, this gelato parlor was small enough to accompany maybe 7-8 people at any given time. It's nicely decorated and comfortable.
Most people come here via private car and can find parking in the surrounding neighbor streets and walk on by. If you are a tourist like me, I walked across the Sydney Harbor bridge to get to my hotel and found this lovely surprise on a brisk Saturday September afternoon. There is a train station here in Kiribilli, so that's an option for anyone. Obviously, getting here on foot is a good way too, but way easier if you have wheels. However you want to do it, the desire for gelato is always a great thing and you'd probably would do anything for it. Yes, that was me that Saturday, especially walking along that bridge and seeing the Sydney Opera House along the way. The service here at Gelatissimo - Kiribilli / North Sydney was friendly and very good. Although prices here can be a bit expensive, they are an absolute delight when you have it for the first time or anytime during your stay in Sydney. Wish I had the time to get more, but there is always next time for sure. Chocolate gelato is always divine and highly recommended for anyone and everyone! Of course, there's other flavors to choose from as well. Best believe that this place has what you need in a dessert. Come often and you'll be happy. I know I would be if I lived in Sydney.
4.5 stars for the overall experience. 4.0 stars for the service. 5.0 stars for the gelato. Heaven right here lol
