Was told this place won the world best gelato in 2014, so have to check out this place. Luckily we…read morecame at the dinner time so there wasn't a line out the store and down the street as warned by the locals and reviewers here. The gelato was creamy and light, so it delivered the flavor but not too heavy that sat in stomach. We ordered the award winning flavor - Mandorla Affogato (a twist of Affogato) which has bits of caramelized almond within the creamy vanilla background. I didn't get a strong espresso flavor as it would have, but the ratio of almond bits and gelato was just right - occasionally crunchiness hidden within the creaminess of gelato. The second flavor we ordered was the poached strawberry with balsamic vinegar. The acidity from balsamic vinegar and strawberry was muted yet complimented the gelato base. It was not too sweet, yet there's a hint of the balsamic vinegar and strawberry. We were too busy getting into the gelato before taking a picture, but check out this place if you are nearby. Here are some pictures of the store, which also offers coffee and cakes.

My family and I love grabbing some ice cream when we're on holiday after eating a meal. We walked…read moreby this place and walked in. We got lucky because after we waited to order, there was a huge line behind us. They have a variety of ice cream flavors plus other items on their menu like cakes and teas. The staff was very patient with us as my sister wanted to order a milkshake which is different in the States compared to Australia. My sister wanted to make sure that what she expected in a milkshake would be understood and reciprocated to the staff. Even though they don't normally make a milkshake like the States do, they did their best. I enjoyed my ice cream and it was perfect to end the night.

I shouldn't have compared it with Gelato Messina mentally, should I?…read more Located at the basement of The Galeries, this shop is near the Townhall train station exit (on the right). Besides ice cream, they sell other diary products like smoothies/ yogurt. There are lots of ice cream flavors but nothing too exciting. (boo) However, I was thankful that they were patient with my "multiple" requests to try different flavors. I ended up with "mango" flavor - hmmmm, it was good but a little too sweet for my liking and it's not as smooth as Gelato Messina (boo). Okie, I gotta stop comparing. Note that there are both ice cream AND gelato. There are also calories (or KJ) written next to the flavors. BF initially picked chocolate mint ice cream but he changed his mind after realizing that it had twice the KJ as the others. *roll eyes* They should consider having a little "bin" for used tasting spoons, like every other ice cream stores! I was told to "step" across the store and throw mine into their trash bin (aka an open used cardboard). Seriously?

Cookies & Cream Chillos need to not exist in my world. They're just too delicious…read more For a while I tried to justify my Chillo addiction by asking for skim milk (I know, I know), then by taking extra care to always get my regulars' card stamped and thereby claim my free Chillo! You see it is just too convenient (read: dangerous) having a New Zealand Natural ice cream shop right at the entrance to Town Hall Station. Especially in summer when the mere thought of squishing into a sweltering, un-airconditioned tin can of a train is enough to send you screaming for a Chillo. No, that justification never got old. And we're about to head into summer again. Oh. Dear.
