Quality/Quantity - Wow, what generous portions!! I am so sorry I did NOT take a picture. We bought this for our "niece" and she devoured it so quickly. Actually, it was so large that she could not finish it. But she did not let it go to waste, she saved it to "drink" later, LOL. Atmosphere - Tourist location, crazy busy. It was very late and about half the flavors were gone. Plus this weekend was the 50th anniversary for the Opera House celebration; so it was way busier than usual. Service - Good, quick service. Plenty of employees. They also had no problems changing our order from one flavor to two flavors last second even after they already made the one flavor order. My "niece" updated her order at the last second. Again, ridiculous large proportions. Price - $10.30 AUS; $6.43 US. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success. I am surprised you do not have better Yelp ratings with the good service and generous portions that we received. read more

Loved passionfruit and this passionfriut gelato was calling my name. The flavor was bright and strong which i loved. Went back 2 days in time. To this location by the Sydney Opera House. Strangely, I had one scoop the first day. 2nd day I decided to double up and get 2 scoops. When I got it, it was only like 1 1/2 scoops. My sisters even said.."why didn't you get 2 scoops.." Digging my fat fingers into a banana muffin that these guys made Absolutely delicious !!!! A bit expensive at $5.50 but absolutely worth it !! I ordered two flavors: Chocolate and Hazelnut. Rather than treating my tastebuds with flavors as ordered, the gelato have no flavor. In fact, the gelato I got reminded me of really cheap ice cream I had the misfortune to have tasted. To make matter worse, the gelato were half melted and the server was grumpy. Even though the scoops were small in size, I could not finish the gelato so off in the trash they went. Although a chain store; this store at Circular Quay is unique and kind of loses that chain feeling. It is oh so popular and much needed here; especially to feed and cool down local and visitors in Sydney alike during the warm weather, and a perfect treat to choose from the abundance of different gelato flavours on offer. Circular Quay isn't complete (on a hot afternoon anyway) without a quality gelato like ice cream, and this is where this establishment has created a world of its own and created a quality and popular hot spot; and yes also conveniently near the ferry wharf's; Sydney Harbour and the street performers. Their hazelnut gelato is divine, as well as the sorbet varieties on a warm afternoon as you are heading towards the Opera House; and if your up for it: walking around the Royal Botanic Gardens. For around $4 a pop, the experience is worth it. Just like being on a massage cruise around Sydney Harbour naked (with a towel wrapped around you) - this is what having a Hazelnut gelato is like to me when standing and taking in the Harbour Bridge on the other side. Gelatissimos seem to be popping up all over the place, but you *need* to know about the Circular Quay kiosk. I remember when it first appeared, giving the (deceptively long) walk from the Opera House a gelati at the end of the tunnel! It's tucked away at the end of the Circular Quay station complex, but the hefty queues are a dead giveaway. Sometimes you can't even see the kiosk for the crowds! A summer's day and a ferry ride isn't complete without an icecream, which just makes place even more dangerously well located. There are always a great range of flavours to choose from - including a good mix of real gelati verses the milk based ice-cream types. If you have an Entertainment Book, be sure to tear out the Gelatissimo vouchers and keep them in your wallet for said summer ferry rides. Have already stopped here twice! It is in a great location in circular quay and very appealing with plenty of flavors to choose from. The first time I had the mocha man which was mocha and pistachio. It was rich, creamy, nutty, and had a hint of the bitterness of coffee. It was delicious! The next day it was so hot, gelato was calling my name. I had mango, which was a nice refreshing flavor. This is one of their most popular locations, mainly due to the rush off the boats on a hot summery day - hell, I've even seen a queue in torrential rain. But, you can't complain, the icecream is divine, the ingredients fresh and inventive, and the price reasonable. The staff are very generous with their scoops, and it's great to see a friendly face when a teary kid drops their cone in front of the store - yes, the staff replaced it free of charge. It's a bit touristy, but you can't avoid that in this area, as it's either the boats from the Ferry, or the cruise ships docking in the international passenger terminal close by. Take you ice cream, and walk up to the Botanical gardens to avoid and set yourself on a cool quest for a tranquil place to demolish your triple flavour cone, before it melts from your hands. read more

Talk about a tourist trap. We got a cheesecake shake, it was 5% gelato and 95% milk. Then they threw it in a blender and then gave us the top half of what remained so it was pretty much a cup of milk. NONE of the gelato made it into the cup. We literally took a sip and then threw it out. read more

I have tried many different gelatos from different stores across the world. This gelato doesn't live up to the name gelato. Gelatissimo should change their name because they are damaging the reputation of gelato. I don't think my dog would even like this gelato. It was a truly horrifying experience. Firstly the gelato was icy and the texture was neither smooth nor creamy. The gelato was not well blended and it lacked flavour. Secondly, the sizing is pathetic. The price per scoop doesn't match the quality or size. I think I need to take out a loan to get more than one scoop to actually fill me up. Whilst the service is fast, it isn't spectacular. Lets take a look into reality, it is scooping gelato, why wouldn't it be fast? The enormous price tag and the poor quality means that I won't be returning and I do not recommend this place to anyone that I like. I would much rather go to Messina, where the gelato is to die for, the staff are actually friendly, the service is great and the price is reasonable. read more

Rarely would I rank a gelato place outside of Italy such high marks... I mean really but this chain does not disappoint. Right by circular quay, on your way to the Opera house if you were walking east... is a tiny store, like enough to house 2 staff and 2 dozen containers of wonderful, bella, amazing-ano, gelato! I had the passion fruit (with real seeds of passion fruit - I think they are real. If they are indeed human engineered, well done!) and Lychee. I actually don't like to eat real lychee but I think gelato makes everything better. I also tried the blood orange, pretty good. They didn't have my favourite flavour - melone but I ain't complaining!!! So, if you are neat a Gelatissimo, you must go. It is pricey though... $6+ for a small cup... I've never been one for gelato. I've always sort of considered it the pansy version of ice-cream. I mean, really, ice cream without the creaminess? Lunacy! But, as I learnt, it's actually pretty nice. And also, as I learned, lower in calories! This pleased the health-freak in me. I went a bit crazy and tried a bit of everything, and so far, I would recommend the coconut, and the raspberry. Mostly, I like raspberry-flavoured desserts because it makes my mouth all pink. But also, it's delicious. The coconut is a little... unique, and may not be for everyone (as I found when I offered some to a friend who made a face and backed away), but being from southern India, I'm completely at ease with coconut, and it was marvelous. Plus, I've noticed that the attendants, no matter which shop you go to, and no matter how busy they are, are really freakishly nice! They don't rush you along, or get short with you, they're just completely happy to be serving their gelato. Probably sampling a bit with every order, which would explain their cheeriness.. that's what I'd do, anyway. read more

Great gelato! The only problem with this place is the serving size. While some places have extremely large sizes this place seems to be giving you a very small amount. Besides that though, everything is great. The layout of the ice cream is really nice and presentation seems to be important to this business. The flavors are also unique but they also have the classics; vanilla chocolate mint chocolate chip and strawberry. Also there are flavors representing different contreys which is cool, I recommend Istanbul bazaar. They also have many options for gluten, nut, dairy, fat, and sugar free. You can also get your gelato in a donut. They have shakes too. read more
