Basque cheesecake on top and the Milky Way

Food is good. Services is meh. I came in later and they told me before and after I ordered that they close at nine. At 8:50 I decided to just take my food to go even though I wasn't done. People were still eating I was just put off by their attitude. I asked for boxes and they said they had to put them in so it looked right and it couldn't be out of the fridge for an hour or it would mess up. I ordered two desserts so I wish they would've told me that prior especially since I have been on foot/ubering etc so instead I just went back to the hotel it was 50$ for desserts that were good but the service made them average

I had to stop by when I was in Sydney, having watched Reynold perform acts of magic on MasterChef Australia multiple times over. These pastries are a masterful work of art. Incredibly beautiful, and when you first get there, really hard to choose a few to try. Tried jade and white noise, although I was tempted by many others on display, including the seasonal baubles. Each piece was a textural experience in your mouth going from the most delicate shell to a velvety mousse to a delightful gel. They weren't the tastiest desserts I've had (maybe I built it up a bit too much in my head) but definitely an experience I'd recommend you try. Beautiful space;service was ok - felt a bit stiff. Price point was a bit high, but for the level of artistry and finesse this requires, I'd say it's reasonable.

#70 for 2021     We were at Spice Alley when my nephew told me about this place.  It was only a hop and skip away and there it was brightly lit under beacons of clear white lights like a light house but calling to anyone around to come by.  There was no danger.  Just sweetness.   It was a small crowd of people gathered around looking at the beautiful creations of chocolate and fruit desserts some in bright colors.  The spot lights made them look like million dollar jewelry.  The group decided on what to get I went along with.  These are not cheap folks. I just handed my card and signed.  I didn't want to know.     We settled on 4 of them.  Berrypassion Cheesecake, Mango Yuzu, Strawberry and  forgot the name of the fourth. They were all good and delicious to eat. I wanted to try more but I was about to go into a food coma with all the food I ate today. The good thing is I know for certain, without a doubt, there will be a next time. Coming soon. Coming very soon.   Staff is attentive and informative.  Made me forget I was in Australia.  Questions were answered without hesitation.  And believe me, there are many questions.  You can't help but wonder what all this is and how it was done.    KOI stands for Kids of Ike.  Ike is Ike Malada the mother of Reynold, Arnold and Ronald.  The family moved to Australia when Reynold was 4.  Ike and her husband had 7 successful restaurants in Indonesia before leaving.  Reynold, the youngest,  "is a master of creativity and a marksman in crafting imaginative food"  "Arnold is the mastermind behind crafting dishes which are packed to the brink with flavour."  Ronald it the oldest and is "the go to guy for the business' operation and the 'make it happen' guy."  Together the brothers  "deliver an experience that arouses and excites the senses."   I came here a few times during my vacation.  Each time savoring everything ordered.  You want to eat it slow.  Savor the the taste.  Inspect the inside.   Name the layers, what are they made of?  Incredible.  The biggest question I have is when will Koi come to California, like the Inland Empire area?  There will be lines for days for sure.   The regular customers know to do take out.  With hardly any seats available it does seem to be the best option. I've waited a few times and gotten lucky.    People who do manage to get a table tend to stay for a long time.  I waited each time to get a table just so I could stare at what I didn't get.  Or try to figure out what to get next time.    New creations appear almost daily.  Because of that  you want to return even sooner.  You get this feeling you don't want to miss anything but who has the time to do that.  The pictures I took do not do it justice.  Check out their website to keep up with their happenings.  You can also get a chance to win a set dinner.  Yes, they do serve more than desserts.  But most of all check out the pictures they have there with the names and some descriptions.  You can order cakes off the website.  They can also create a custom cake just for you, one of a kind.  How cool would that be?  If you need an address where that cake can be sent to let me know.

Very fancy looking desserts with some interesting flavor combinations. More for the picture than taste but makes a great gift!

the strawberry pillow signature was extremely well made. the dessert is not too sweet, has a smooth mouse, fruity jam, and nice biscuit base. the ambiance is very upscale, the service is quick, and they are open pretty late. although definitely on the expensive end, I think it is worth a try!

So... was really exited to try this place given all the positive reviews. For me, the experience left a few things to ponder on. First off the visuals of the creations are a masterpiece. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 15 just on appearance! Then why just 3 stars you ask? Well, afterall this is a food establishment and to be honest it didn't taste that great nor was it mind blowing. I debated back and forth on how something that looks so good could just be mediocre but have to give an honest review. My wife and I got the Ume bar to share. Didn't taste like much and for $8-10 for a piece of dessert there is much left to ponder. Even as we ate our mediocre piece of dessert, part of us still eyed some of the other masterpieces on display pondering if they could somehow restore faith in the establishment. Willing to give it another try, maybe we just picked the wrong product to try!

I had heard about this place before Masterchef and then was watching and thought 'wait, I know that place!' so I had to come. I had the Popcorn which did taste like it, a bit, but was more about the chocolate and creaminess of the mousse. I wanted to eat more, and can't wait to go back!

    Coconut Kalamansi

Randomly stumbled into this place after lunch at Spice Alley... holy sh*t this place was easily one our favorite finds on our Australia trip. All of their desserts look like art pieces, and you truly feel guilty for eating them. We got the following: 1) Coconut Kalamansi: a super fancy panna cotta with a citrus center and biscuit crust. 2) Strawberry Pillow: A strawberry lychee mousse with strawberry jelly and lychee slices. 3) Moss in a Jar: This one is almost impossible to describe, but it's basically an edible terrarium. Given how beautiful each and every dessert is, the pricing is VERY reasonable (about $10-15). Trust me, you''ll gain ammo for days for your instagram, and will look like a boss to your office friends when they ask you about your trip to Australia.

Wow amazing dessert. Reynolds and his brothers are absolutely masters. Loved their chocolate mousse dome, I could eat that all day long. The mango and Penna cotta equally amazing. I keep looking at their menu and just want to try more. Go there when the weather is nice and sit in front of their lawn and have a dessert picnic.

Only knew about KOI because of Brian from Masterchef Australia, so it was a must visit on our holiday to Australia! I wish I actually saw him but I was too chicken to ask L O L. We decided to do the set dinner and there were some dishes I preferred more than others, but overall thought the experience was great :) Service was great! Always came around with water, taking our empty plates and providing new utensils. All the desserts were really cool! I really enjoyed the mango sorbet (I love mango) in Yellow and the Lime nitro and sorbet in White. Purple was a little weird to me because I was expecting normal blackberries but they just crust into your mouth o-o. I don't know how to explain it, but I did not prefer it. Moss (chef special) was pretty good! Wish we got some normal desserts on the first floor, but we forgot :( Next time I visit Australia, KOI is definitely a must! Enjoyed it more than the Quay.

highlight of the evening. The coconut yoghurt freezed by liquid nitrogen. The yuzu sorbet added a nice zest to balance the flavour.

We followed Reynolds performance in Masterchef and booked weeks in advance to try his new dessert bar. The ambience of the bar is pretty slick and I really like the rustic industrial interior design upstairs. Dimmed lights coupled with jazzy tunes in the backdrop. A great location for dessert with your date. I reckon you should skip the dessert set. We liked the fancy appearance but were quite disappointed with the taste. Firstly the sets were really small (that's why they limit per set) We had soggy fruits in one of the dishes. The coconut popcorn icecream was the only highlight of the night. So go direct with the coconut popcorn yoghurt instead of the other filler dishes. The other dishes aren't that special and are definitely overhyped. Disclaimer: be warned about the weird house policy that requires desert sets be shared with multiples of three guests (not more not less). So we came with four guests and we were forced to order at least two dessert sets (we just had dinner and can't finish the second set). However, manager was insistent that one of our guests would have to leave the restaurant so that they will have multiples of three guests per dessert set. Finally, he relented and one guest was sitting by the side to watch everyone else eat. Suffice to say we weren't pleased. So pls take my review with a grain of salt.

Being a fan of the show, we visited Koi to get a real life taste of Reynold's dessert made popular on Masterchef. Reynold was friendly and obliged diners requesting pics which is very nice to see. The dessert bar was full and buzzing and dessert cabinet refilled at different times of the day. Some were a huge high, but others were just average. My tip is if you arrive to sparse looking cabinet, check when the new batch of delivery is arriving so that you can have bigger selection. I mean you are paying on average $9 for a pop of dessert. As I said, some worth more some are not. Try a few to choose your favourite. The set menu also seems to be a good deal, with some of reynold's speciality being reserved for these menus only. Worth trying if you have the time.

Strawberry pillow. Can't say I could taste all the flavours it mentions.

Hungarian donut? Cone of deliciousness? Kürtösh? Call it what you want but it's so good!…read more My friend recommended the hazelnut Kürtösh but the pistachio one looked so good that I did what any normal person would do... got both! I preferred the pistachio Kurtosh. The hazelnut one was like candy on top of the cone and very crunchy like candy. These are made to order so take around 10 or 15 minutes. Not really ideal for a grab and go but was worth the stop. They have a ton of other pastries as well that are pay by the pound. The kurtosh was really good, especially with coffee. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but if nearby I would definitely go again.

It's quite good. Honestly, I'd say forget the pastry twister and go one of the Slab Cakes instead. Oh, so good! So far, my favourite has been the Catastrophe Flourless Choc Cake. Or mayyyybe actually the Lemon Crumble Cheesecake. Pretty much mention Mum's Chocolate Cake and I'm ready to trip someone over for a bite! If you can't choose, you could order a sliver of each and call it day. This is the best bit about Kurtosh - everything is sold by weight, and there's no minimum (or maximum) for what you buy. So you can literally order a sliver each of four kinds of cake. Hoorah! Extra bonus: open late so you can pop in for after dinner dessert.

I thought I reviewed all my Sydney places but I guess not…read more One of those places where it is pic worthy/photogenic but kinda overprice and taste only ok. I wouldnt say the food is bad but it also didnt wow me either. It sounded a lot better than it tasted and looked. Even when I looked at the pic now, I'm like damn that looks good. I'm not saying you can get it anywhere also but in terms of taste, it's not anything that is too memorable. I got the Lobster and crab omelette. Just think of all the expensive stuff inside an omelette and that's what it was lol. I wouldnt say it's terrible though, just not that memorable.

The dish came with a poach egg and mayo? which didn't make sense at all cuz u have nothing to dip in with at all. The squid ink pasta tasted ok but both dishes were overpriced ($25) for brunch. The presentation of their dishes were kinda creactive which explained why there were a number of instagrammers there... We went there on a hot day and somehow the AC was not on... There were flies everywhere... The food came up fairly quick but after I said the food was just okay our server simply ignored me...
