Contact with them 4 times - all great experiences. 1.) The website - easy to understand and use to generate a car insurance quote. 2.) Follow-up on the phone - Bethanie was the customer service agent - based in Honolulu, she was fabulous, complete, and courteous. 3.) Follow-up to get umbrella insurance - an agent on the mainland - just as courteous as the first call with a call back scheduled for a particular time the next day. 4.) Geico actually called at the promised time the next day with a different person from the mainland, again with someone courteous, patient, and easy to understand. This review is regarding Geico roadside emergency assistance. I dialed Geico for a jump start over 30 minutes ago. They put me on hold for 24 minutes before an agent answered the phone and the phone call took another 10 minutes (for a total of 34 minutes on the phone) to process my roadside assistance claim. Now I'm waiting for the road side assistance company to arrive. They quoted me 45 minutes for arrival, however it may be as long as one full hour. read more

Most dishonest business I have ever dealt with. After they admitted fault when their driver totalled my car two years ago, then have yet to issue payment to myself or my insurance company. My insurance had to pay me the almost $25k for my vehicle. Two Geico agents told me that they would reimburse me for my rental car expenses in 2014. They waited two full years conveniently before refusing to pay me a measly $293 when I was out of pocket over $600 for a rental car after my car was totalled. Geico is an unethical and unprofessional company. They are also one of the most expensive auto insurers, with the worse customer service. They have learned to scam innocent people, which is a shame. Did you know that Geico insurance use salvage parts when repairing a vehicle if the part is available at THEIR SALVAGE YARD? Yes they do. My very own vehicle is being repaired and a salvage part is being used. Geico answer to me was that's how they keep cost down. I don't drive but they forced my wife to put me on the policy and then told her that we have to show proof of my license when I don't have one or drive. I got rear ended by another car who also had geico insurance. Later I took my car to a geico adjuster named Aaron. He seemed nice and very professional. He gave me an estimate and check for the repair. He gave me a list of geico repair shops that guarantee the repair so I brought it to one of the recommended shop. I asked to make sure the bumper is an oem part and not a cheaper after market part. The shop said that geico estimate was for a after market bumper. So I called Aaron the geico adjuster and he told me because its a cosmetic part I would have to pay extra. He also told me was your bumper an oem part. I said my car is new. I learned that geico finds different ways to cut cost with a so called geico guarantee repair shop. I'm going to get another estimate through a non geico recommend shop. I brought the vehicle for estimate, and the person assisting me was very polite, friendly, and accurate. He finished the job in less than 30 min, got me a rental car, and I was ready to go. The problem is.... my vehicle was damaged due to an accident caused by some jerk who couldn't drive. He suddenly came into my lane, I stopped, but he decided to proceed and hit my fender. I explained this to Geico, and they talked to the other party who was also insured under Geico, and decided to go with his story instead. I had two witnesses but I highly doubt they even cared to contact. I was told I'm liable for 100% of the accident. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. My story did not match his, but that's where "investigation" starts right? They don't just decide "well, let's just take this guy's word this time because we're lazy". WTF. read more

Cheapest insurance on island, you get what you pay for. Was in a minor accident where I was rear-ended. They took 10 weeks to contact the other party who had already fixed his car on his own. They looked at his car and determined he had no damage so he couldn't have been at fault for rear-ending me. My pictures didn't matter to them. Had to pay my deductible, and told it wouldn't affect my premium. 2 weeks later I get notice of about 15% increase in premium. Pretty convenient timing. The rep said it was a market adjustment and had nothing to do with the accident. Again, cheapest cost up front but if you ever have to use the insurance, be prepared to get the run around for months, and then drop a lot of money going forward. read more

This 3 stars is for the customer service on the phone when I called yesterday to receive my 6-month insurance cards! Since I moved to a new address, I needed a parking stall for my car. However, my temporary insurance card expired and I need my 6-month one ASAP. I wasnt gonna get it until a week later because that's how long my bill was due from then. So I called Mabel, and told her my situation and she was the friendliest insurance agent I spoke with! She notified me that I could either wait for it to come in the mail, or I could pay early and pick it up later on that afternoon, Mind you I called at 11am and she said it would be ready in the next 20 minutes! Awesome! I didnt finish work til 4:00pm so I knew that once I get there, it would be ready and I would be on my way home! Mabel sent me a confirmation email stating that my bill has been paid for the next month and my next one will be in October. 5 hours went by and I'm ready to pick up my cards! I leave work and make my way down to the Geico building. I approach the lady at the front desk and ask her for my 6-month insurance card. I get my insurance card and walk away to get ready to go to my car. While I'm walking, I noticed that she gave me my temporary expired insurance card! So I walk back and tell her that I asked for my 6-MONTH insurance card. She says "Oh, its gonna come in the mail...unless you want to wait for it while we type it up" Okay, just typing it up, shouldnt take more than 5 minutes right! Just copy my tempoary insurance card.. Waiting...waiting...waiting.. It's been 30 minutes since she told me that they could TYPE my card up. At this point, I'm irritated because I was suppose to be out of there and on my way home! I called 5 HOURS ago! As I get up to tell her just mail the dang thing, she calls my name and I receive my card. Everything is EXACTLY the same....as...my...temporary. Note to customers. If you need to update information on your policy, don't inform the staff. They'll delete your account. Instead, update the information on the mobile application. When they delete your account, what happens is that your account is set up for renewal--which comes with a high premium update-- At least that what happened to me. For those of us on a tight budget, this, this can really hurt. read more

This company will not renew your policy due to your claim history, even if you don't have a claim history in the past. They when you call they try to avoid to talk to you, even if you are a 12 years customer like me. Stay away from them, there are better options out there. read more

Maybe once or twice I got a call!! No commutation at all!!! 2: I had to sign some important papers which I didn't know cause there was no commutation!! 3: papers all turned in! Car still not paid off, called and told me that my car had a tickets and in order for my car to be paid off I had to pay it!! So I paid the ticket and emails the receipt saying it was Paid!! We just bought this insurance when we moved to Hawaii. We compared rates and found Geico to be the best fit. Unfortunately we had to use it one month later when my husband got rear ended while pulling into a parking lot. Everyone we dealt with was kind, professional, prompt, courteous and extra helpful. Matthew Little the damage adjuster was on the spot and made a point to repeat his communications as he knew we were upset. The car was "totaled" and Robert Loo at the total loss department went way above and beyond to see that our claim was paid in full and in a timely fashion. I won't go on and on about what a hassle it is when your name is misspelled on an out of state registration, thus title. Robert our hero guided us through the incredible tangle of calls, emails, faxes and such to get it done right and he never lost his cool. We will be Geico customers probably forever based on the service. The team exudes the Aloha spirit. What could have been a huge setback turned out to be just a wrinkle thanks to Geico. read more

It's like they say, pay your insurance company, think you're covered UNTIL you need it. Was told back in 2007 that I needed to place the GEICO Emergency Roadside Service on my Mainland policy but not my Hawai'i GEICO policy. So I did. I called for emergency roadside service a couple of times with the first car I insured in Hawai'i. No problem. Then I replaced the first car and kept the second car on the GEICO Hawai'i policy. Got a flat tire recently and Ooops, there's no Emergency Roadside Service coverage anymore! While I've been paying Mainland GEICO Emergency Roadside Service coverage, thinking that included Hawai'i GEICO Emergency Roadside Service, NOW that I need it, I find out it does not! Seems like I was paying for Hawai'i GEICO Emergency Roadside Service all along, and it was deleted, not by me, when I replaced cars, which is why they won't respond to my emergency call. Good thing it wasn't something more serious in the middle of traffic! Well, I'm off to try and fix the flat myself. Then will start looking for another insurance company both here and on the Mainland . And it ain't gonna be Progressive because their service blows, too! Been with Geico for ages and each time I needed them they were there. Got into a very bad rear end accident from an idiot busy on her phone, going over 50 mph on moanalua, slammed right into me, no attempt to brake what so ever. I called Geico they told me take it in wherever is most convenient, they scheduled someone from rental car to pick me up from repair shop and the rest was smooth riding. I called for tow truck, in less than 10 min they had confirmation number and everything. They even knew the type of car we had requires it to ride on a truck bed vs being pulled. Really wish I could give negative stars here. One star is way too many. Customer for over 20 years with not a single claim. The one time I make a claim, which would cost them at most one year of payment, they claim I am not covered, and act as though I am trying to scam them, even when the police report says exactly what happened! CROOKS! What's really effed up and backassward is that it is the law that we must have auto insurance, yet insurance companies can legally screw us out of a rightful claim. I have been a GEICO customer for over 20 years. I've been paying over $500/month for 9 cars. Seemed like a great deal, until I tried to make a claim. My car was legally parked on the street in front of my house. Woke up one morning to find it bashed in on the driver's side. Hit and run. Call GEICO to put in the claim because I have full coverage. Guess what? They say I don't have full coverage. Did I mention that I have (HAD) 9 cars insured with them, all with full coverage except our beater emergency car that is not worth squat. 9 cars. $500+/mon. They claim that when I originally insured the car that got wrecked, I did not ask for full coverage. 9 cars insured, all but one POS specifically with full coverage. When I challenged them and asked if they think it made any sense not to cover my wife's daily driver, when all other cars including my daily driver are covered, I was told, yeah, that sounds very odd, and they would conduct an investigation. Guess what? After "investigating" they said I was not covered. The amount that they would have paid on the claim would have been about $5000, which is what KBB says the car was worth. did I mention I pay them over $500/mo. for 9 cars? That's $6000/year. So, been with them for 20 years, and they deny a claim that would have cost them less than 1 years worth of payments after I have been with them for over 20 years. Great math and customer retention GEICO! Did I mention another mistake that they made 3 years ago, and yet I still stuck with them. 2 of my vehicles were the same model. One of them a 2001, the other a 2002. I sold the 2002, so cancelled the insurance on it. Or so I thought. Guess what, they cancelled the 2001 instead, even when I made sure they had the correct vin number. So I was driving an uninsured vehicle for several months until the next renewal period and I got new insurance cards and went to put them into their respective vehicles. The kicker to all of this is that even though they denied the claim, when I tried to get insured by another company, I was told that since the supposed "claim" showed up when they went to calculate my rates, as a new customer they would double my rates. So they got you coming and going. you don't want to stick with them because they hose you, but you can't go anywhere else because an unpaid and unacknowledged claim shows up on your record, and going with another company will double your rates. AND IT WAS ALL BECAUSE THEIR INCOMPETENCE!!!! Sorry this is so long, but I am really pissed right now. I am thinking of going to a new company anyway just to get away from them. I know some who read this might have some questions, which I will gladly answer. Just don't think that when you see their cute commercials that they give a hoot about you or about many years of customer loyalty. THEY DON"T!! read more

This is beyond bad customer service. I had Condo insurance with State Farm. I had my first claim due to a faulty dishwasher from the unit above me. State Farm paid the claim and then would not renew me because they don't insure if you had one claim in the past three years. My auto and jewelry are with GEICO. I called GEICO and they gave me a quote with RLI insurance. The first thing that I told the agent (Eric Martinez) was that I had a water damage claim. He told me that was not a problem with RLI. We went back and forth a couple of times to adjust the limits. I e-mailed the agent to confirm that I wanted the insurance. He never responded. After several more e-mails and no response, I called GEICO and a different agent helped me. She said they still have to get final approval from the company and she would immediately look into it and get right back to me. She never did. All the agents had to do was to send me a simple e-mail to the effect that they could not insure me. Rather, they just let me hang in the wind. This is the most disgraceful conduct that I have ever seen. I will look to change my other insurance because this is a company that I don't want to deal. I am also a substantial Berkshire holder. Warren Buffet should fire these incompetent (fill in your own word). This company is garbage. read more

I would give GEICO insurance a "zero" for renters insurance. Unfortunately they don't cover personal items due to flooding!! So I had to find out after the fact! Everything gone and there was no sense of having renters insurance thru them! They won't cover anything personal even if it's any of these: 1. Ordinance or Law, meaning any ordinance or law: a. Requiring or regulating the construction, demolition, remodeling, renovation, or repair of property, including removal of any resulting debris. This exclusion 1.a. does not apply to the amount of coverage that may be provided for under ADDITIONAL COVERAGES, Glass or Safety Glazing Material or Ordinance or Law; b. The requirements of which results in a loss in value to property; or c. Requiring any "insured" or others to test for, monitor, clean-up, remove, contain, treat, detoxify, or neutralize, or in any way respond to, or assess the effects of, pollutants. This exclusion applies whether or not the property has been physically damaged. 2. Earth Movement, meaning earthquake including land shock waves or tremors before, during or after a volcanic eruption; landslide; mine subsidence; mudflow; earth sinking, rising or shifting; unless direct loss by: a. Fire; or b. Explosion; ensues and then we will pay only for the ensuing loss. This exclusion does not apply to loss by theft. 3. Water Damage, meaning: a. Flood, surface water, waves, tidal water, overflow of a body of water, or spray from any of these, whether or not driven by wind; b. I have been with Geico since 2004 and have always had great customer service, until now. My wife and I were driving the speed limit, while raining, on the Kunia on ramp eastbound when we lost traction. The vehicle spun 180* and hit a guardrail. I called the police and then GEICO. The GEICO claim rep would not transfer me through to the tow service, even as the police were trying to help turn the vehicle around. I had to finish the claim before he would transfer me. After he transferred me, they said because it was a collision I was not covered for a tow. My wife had to stand in the mud on the other side of the guardrail (for safety reasons) while I had to secure my own tow truck. Later I was told that I had tow coverage and should have been towed. My second issue was that when I called GEICO on 1/30/15 I deleted my Acura TL and asked to have my Mazda Miata added, same coverage and same finance company. The GEICO agent dropped my collision coverage when she did the add delete. I have maintained the same coverages since 2004, full coverage with a $500 deductible. Now that I have had an accident they are saying that I do not have the coverage. Even after the accident I was not able to de-code their declarations page. Comprehensive to me is full coverage. They are saying that I should have known she dropped the collision when she did the add/delete vehicle and I'm on my own for repairs. Kimo Makahilahila handled the accident claim and seemed perturbed when I called daily to sort out what was happening. I was without transportation and felt let down. I had a shockingly pleasurable experience with Geico. I'm a careful driver and never even had a speeding ticket, but one rainy night my car hydroplaned and I hit a ditch. I had road-side assistance, as well as full coverage insurance. Long story short, tow company arrived in about 10 minutes post-accident, and my insurance adjuster, Steven Pai, was awesome throughout the entire process. Though my car was deemed a total loss, the payout amount on my car was accurate, competitive, and fair. I was expecting a lot of drama when it came to that point as my car is an exotic and there is no data on it's value in the KBB. I know when my insurance renews, my rates will be higher because of this, but that's not necessary a problem with Geico themselves, it's a problem with the way insurance in general is conducted. read more
