When I received the documents in the mail, I found it was NOT what I requested. I called to cancel the policies. I just received a renewal notice for the renters insurance. Come to find they only canceled the auto, and not the renters. I emailed for them to confirm cancelation of both policies, received a reply that I had to call their office. So I called...and was transferred to Assurant. I responded to prompts on the phone, what seemed like endless button pushing...only to receive a message that the office is closed. read more

My vehicle was struck by a GEICO insured driver and after I filed a claim with GEICO I only got the run around. GEICO stated that they could not get a hold of their client. Then it was the client was contacted but GEICO cannot get in contact with the driver, who caused the accident. GEICO sent out their adjuster and issued an estimate but has now doubled backed, stating that the adjuster should not have done the estimate. GEICO has been very unprofessional in handling my claim and I would not recommend this insurance company. Hopefully, you are not involved in an accident with a GEICO insured individual. read more

I was unpleasantly shocked by the rude, abysmally poor customer service I received by the GEICO rep here in Honolulu in Kevin Mak's office, Jeremy Nakaza-Koizumi I wrote to him and agents at other companies for a quote for a HO6 (condo owner) insurance policy. I told each of them I wanted to do "an apples-to-apples comparison" how much specific types of coverage at specific levels would cost (e.g., Dwelling, $25K-worth of coverage). I basically wanted to compare prices: if two companies said it would cost $, and a third said the exact same policy would cost $$$, I certainly wouldn't pursue purchasing from that third company. Reps from two companies immediately responded with quotes for the specific rates of coverage I requested (with a total price between $200 - $300). Jeremy responded with a quote for $642! When I looked more closely at his policy breakdown, I saw he had completely ignored the amounts of coverage I'd requested (e.g., Dwelling, $75K instead of $25K). In addition, I had asked him if there were any discounts for federal employees/retirees (as "GEICO" stands for Government Employees Insurance Company because the company originally focused on U.S. government employees as customers). Jeremy also ignored my question. I wrote back to Jeremy to tell him I was going to purchase coverage elsewhere, as he had ignored my question and totally disregarded what I had requested. I added that if someone asked me for my opinion about GEICO, I would not recommend them. Well, I've decided to be more proactive because his response was to send me a very unprofessional and insulting email. It stated: "Sorry, we don't provide bare minimum policies with gaps in coverage like how you requested. ... If you would like to take the time to understand how insurance works and why I quoted you and WHY you should be seeking out the same coverages I quoted you with different companies. - Please call me ... If you would like to disregard professional advice and seek out your own options elsewhere. By all means, take your business elsewhere and get that low bare minimal policy that leaves you unprotected." First of all, I never said I was intending to purchase coverage at the specified levels. I clearly stated this was for an apples-to-apples comparison. In fact, I had also told every rep that I was also interested in loss assessment coverage but would leave that amount undetermined at the moment. He clearly wasn't paying attention and didn't care what I wanted. Secondly -- even if I did intend to purchase a policy exactly as in the apples-to-apples exercise -- so what?! Is it professional to ignore the customer's specific request without explanation? And then to imply that I am ignorant about how insurance works! He also ended his email with a totally insincere (snarky): "Thank you for your kindness and understanding. " I can't say if any other (or all other) GEICO reps are like Jeremy -- but GEICO is responsible for training their reps in customer service and in promoting professionalism, so the company also is at fault here. They decided to increase our rates 3x what we were paying due to my husband having a speeding ticket (60 in a 45) and an accident (he rolled into another car in a driveway going over a speed bump). After the initial upset, I tried to call Geico and see if there was any way of lowering the cost. They were very difficult to work with (even after being customers for over 16 years). So, I decided to shop around. Liberty Mutual, specifically Evelina Hilton, did an amazing job at helping us find new insurance for our cars. Evelina was quick and efficient! I am now paying less that what I was paying at Geico PRIOR to the crazy increases! If you are experiencing Geico raising your rates, I highly suggest shopping around! After a resolution was found with my car accident (other driver's insurance took 100% accountability), my Farmers/21st Century Insurance Claims Representative informed me that they would be closing the claim on our end and that I would now be working directly with Geico. While it did provide some relief that my Claims Rep. had informed me that Geico was one of the better insurance companies to work with, I still felt a little unsure about how the process would go but from the very moment I called Geico to start the repair process, I was taken care of. I first spoke with Dennis M. who walked me through obtaining information related to my car as well as how to go about the photo estimate repairs. Dennis M. was kind, informative, and quick to answer any questions that I had always emphasizing that it was Geico's job to make sure their customers had everything they needed. Once Dennis M. did all that he could, he then told me that one of their Claims Appraisers would be in contact with me. And similarly to Dennis M, Marssia was just as amazing. Marssia was quick, personable, and again, was always willing to clarify or go over any questions I had. She was also really patient when I had attempted to go to an autobody shop I was familiar with only to realize that the former owner no longer worked there. When I finally chose an autobody shop from one of Geico's recommendations, Marssia also made sure to be in contact with the company, as well as Enterprise for my rental car during the repair period. I think what really struck me was how Marssia was continually very patient with and upfront about repairs, costs, and options. I never felt that she was trying to mislead me in any way and she always made sure to keep me in the loop if there were any updates. Even if my questions may have seemed stupid since I did not have much experience with auto insurance claims and accidents, Marssia always treated me with respect and explained things in a way that was understandable. If you ever have Marssia as your Claims Appraiser, just know that she is definitely one of the good ones. Overall, I would highly recommend Geico because of my experiences with Dennis M. and Marssia. The stress of getting into a car accident is one thing but the fact that the other driver's insurance company was so accommodating and helpful was just something that I did not at all expect. It has made me even consider switching auto insurance companies, which shows just how well Geico had taken care of me from start to finish. read more

I am not a Geico customer but the guy who rear-ended ended my car is. So we took the damaged car to the adjuster at the collision repair shop to have it examined. Since the hatchback lock was damaged we were asked not to touch it until it was fixed. We had to wait four weeks to get the part. When ready to go back to the shop we opened the hatchback and noticed some damage to the frame by the licence plate. It wasn't that noticeable but visible nonetheless. So I took pictures and texted the adjuster asking if he was aware and had made a note of it . Never got an answer. The car got fixed, but not the damage to the frame. Tried to get some answers from Geico cust. service but they just passed the buck back to the adjuster and also passed the buck regarding the problems we had with the rental they provided from Enterprise Rent a car, their partner by the way but not when it comes from abusive charges from them: I picked up the car, nothing special, but I was charged a $50 refundable deposit and being prudent, I opted for the extra insurance for 3 days: $54.40. I also added my spouse as the other driver. Two days later we decided to keep the car for another day, so we asked Enterprise to charge another day for the insurance. We returned the car after 4 days with a full tank, I asked for confirmation of the refund of the deposit and was assured it would be a matter of days. We did not think anymore about this until we received our bank statement at the end of the month. Sure enough, the deposit still had not been refunded but worse We were charged twice for the insurance, the first time for 3 days and the second time for 4 days: $72.46. Annoyed I called Enterprise customer service, who at first did not really listen to me but instead told me there was an extra charge of $15/day for the extra driver ( $62.70/4days) Since this was never disclosed when I picked up the car I got upset, so much so the poor Customer Service person hinted the charge could be reversed. But nothing about the deposit and the overcharge. In the end, we paid $177.86 when even with the extra driver charge but minus the first insurance payment for 3 days, the total should be $135.16, and we should get back $42.70. ( or $105.16 if the extra driver charge is waived). Still nothing has been refunded so far and I am still waiting for the invoice To conclude: if you get in an accident with somebody who's insured by Geico and who is at fault, question everything at all times when dealing with anyone from Geico or Enterprise. read more

HIG Insurance, the entity that Geico uses for home insurance in HAWAII, automatically drops off discounts like having a monitoring alarm system after an indeterminate amount of time. They will not contact you to tell you that they need a "New" alarm monitoring certificate, they will just raise the amount of the premium you are paying and hope you don't notice. When you contact them they say it is not their policy to tell you anything, you must check every time you pay. When you send them the needed documents again they will take 6 weeks to say they don't have the needed wording that states every type of monitoring you have. They will also raise your premium of course as the cost of materials has gone up. They will tell you it is not their policy to notify you of any changes and YOU are responsible for researching every bill. HIG INSURANCE IS TERRIBLE! read more

I will give ONLY facts on my account and suggest whomever has to deal with Geico claims agents; DOCUMENT EVERYTHING (This months my last payment with Geico and I'm running away with my dignity.) July 29, 2019- Got a great car from the dealership August 22, 2019- Car gets stolen and found same day by Maui PD with MAGOR damage. I get connected with Honolulu based Geico Claim Examiner, Gina Stiassney, who advises me to go to the tow yard where my car is held and sign release papers and contact her once done... I arrive, tow owner says there are NO such papers to sign and tried contacting Gina within business hours to follow-up with no response from Gina that day, and had to wait 2 days to speak with Gina as it was a weekend and her office was closed. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. The car is handed over to Kaanapali Collisions to begin being fixed, in which I request a rental as I'm paying for rental coverage. Gina denies me a rental car until I provide the police report as PROOF to back up my claims. Heads up; I'm single with no partner. I have to find a way to get to the police station located in another town and sign the report in person to receive and forward to Gina. 2 weeks out of work for injury. I tell her I'm injured and have no one to turn to for voluntary transportation, but still denied. EXYTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SUPPORT- I was treated like I was trying to commit fraud. I'm contacted by Geico Medical Examiner, Jonathan Perron who tells me that an adjuster will arrive at the tow yard to document damages to my vehicle. GREAT, RIGHT? Instead I'm encouraged to just forward my personal photos I took of the damaged vehicle to send in. Basically I get to compensate an adjuster saving some time and gas to not have to drive out and do their job. So I essentially did their job for them...I documented my own damages. I'm assured they are all on a team helping me so I don't feel to odd about my medical examiner, Jonathan, prompting me to do things on behalf of my Damage Adjuster, Kawika Hong. I'm honestly glad someone got a break on the outcome of this claim, but it wasn't me. POOR USE OF TAKING CUSTOMER ADVANTAGE. September 24, 2019 - 1 month after claim. Still being denied rental car till I can provide police report. Eventually, I get the mission done. I upload the police report to Geico to which I was told I had to pay out of pocket for rental with reimbursement later on... At this time I was BROKE as well as offended and displeased so I decided to take the city bus to work till my vehicle was fixed. Present Day! - COV-19 may have stopped many things, but Geico's payments were not one of them. Even with the 15% credit and automatic payments discount, I'll be spending HALF on insurance taking my money elsewhere. I'll be paying Geico over $600 out of the $1100 premium I owe that have piled up over these few months while I've been jobless. Made a claim in December, its May 20th and I still dont have my car back. Took the car to SKG Autobody in Kona and that ended up being a shit show with 3 different supervisors in 4 months. The car got towed in cause the front damage ruined the air ride. They fixed all the cosmetics but not the air ride cause geico wont cover it, its not related to the claim. So not only I dont have a car for 6 months, I also have to pay out of pocket for the air ride which they deemed not related. The damn thing had to get towed in hows that not related. Everyone on the phone was great, helpful, courteous, knowledgeable, efficient, friendly and professional in processing a claim for car damage. Only major negative experience was with the Claims Adjuster. He seemed rushed and very busy. Not very service oriented. I tried to explain that I was the sole lien holder and customer service acknowledged it when making my appointment and thus made the required change to their records. He however refused to call to confirm saying he was too busy so I actually called instead and put him on the phone so they could confirm what I was telling him. Moreover and more critical was the fact that he low balled my damage estimate. I came in with two independent estimates and it was 15-20% higher. Which boxed me in to use their repair shop instead of one I'd preferred. As my out of pocket cost would be much higher using another shop because the check GEICO would cut to me would 15-20% less/lower. I will most def. be changing insurance carriers for my two cars and other insurance coverage after my car is repaired. By the way this was my first claim and suffice it say quite disappointed in their tactic. read more

I was with GEICO for about 6 years. My parents had been with them over 20 years. Why did we switch to another car insurance? It's because of what truly matters the most: The help and representation from your car insurance you receive when you get into a car accident. Long story short, a car side swept my passenger side and the driver admitted to me that she was changing into the lane I was in and did not see me and the damages to our cars CLEARLY showed this. After a few weeks, I was found at fault because I was the one that hit her. She most likely lied in her statement. I was so confused and upset because I shouldn't had paid my $500 deductible for my car damages that wasn't even my fault! Although GEICO explained to me the reasons of why it was my fault (which were ridiculous, I wish I could post it), I felt that they could've done better. I mean, the damages to our cars was the biggest evidence in the claim. Are car insurances supposed to have your back and do the best they can to get to the bottom of what happened? If so, then I CERTAINLY didn't feel like they had my back. Maybe since both the other driver and I had GEICO, they probably didn't really care who would be at fault. You get what you pay for. 1star for Geico underhanded tactics. Cheap becomes expensive. I got rear ended on Kinau waiting at stoplight. Geico paid out great for my head and neck injuries for the first 4 months. I received notification from my handler Erica N. Geico sent my medical info to a 3rd party doctor who I never met before . Wow. Called Erica to confirm that Geico would still pay for my treatment but a week later I received no call back. Geico is using that doctor to get me off the treatment plan I am on. I have physical therapy, chiropractic treatments and massage to help control the pain in my neck and migraines. Far from using up my $10k limit. Some weeks are better than others and my neck flares up in pain at times so the treatments are needed to control the pain. Not happy about the prospect of paying out of pocket. Update: Erica N. Called today and recited a script basically telling me Geico will no longer honor their obligation to make me whole again. She will deny any funds for treatment of my ongoing pain. Everything will come out of pocket. She is just doing her job, I know. Her voice was shaky, she shuttered and in my opinion was feeling guilt. I used about 4k out of 10k and she will probably be getting a big Christmas bonus at the end of the year off of all the people she bamboozled. Shame on Geico... Today there agent name JEREMY! is clueless about customers service, when I asked him to forward me to his supervisor to resolve the matter he said you can go on and on about what you want to ask but they will tell you same thing and he hung up. But I still believed GEICO preserved the rule that they will always take care of there customers. Jeremy there agent needs retraining and in my opinion should not allowed handling customers. This is in regards to paying my homeowner's policy. I tried calling in today to make my annual homeowner's policy payment so I dialed the number listed on my bill. The automated system did not recognize my policy number so I had to wait to speak to a live person. This person said that she would direct me to the appropriate department. I was directed to the same menu options I heard when I first called in. Had to go through the whole convoluted process to wait yet again to speak to another live person, which was about half an hour later than the first time I spoke to someone. I told that person that I was misdirected and wanted to be sure I was routed to the appropriate party. Lady said okay, and proceeded to make me go through the same menu options that I already went through twice before (and which I knew was leading me nowhere). I then Google Geico Hawaii's number, and called that number. Lo and behold, same exact menu options that I heard the first time, except in a local person's voice. Don't understand why they are making it so difficult to something as straightforward as pay a policy. I thought they want money. I had to call my sister to ask her how to pay my bill because Geico didn't provide the correct instructions. Turns out I could pay online. Why I had to learn this through my sister and not through Geico is beyond me. read more

Zero to negative stars if possible! The worst experience. Where to even start, this is my first Yelp review (unfortunately it's a BAD ONE). Geico makes you feel / believe that once you call to join their team that your covered right away with no problems (WRONG)!!! They have an unbearable process that even their claims representative could not explain nor could they at least provide us with an estimated period to which our claim might be completed (Geico is always timely when collecting the monthly premiums). Accidents are unfortunate and unpredictable. I had full coverage with them, which I expected this to be covered. I thought it would be simple, as I was the only vehicle involved and I have never filed an accident claim. It was already a scary experience, as my vehicle hydroplaned coming out of the Likelike tunnel (no speeding involved). As most locals know the road there most of the time is wet with moss. To be treated as if I were a criminal trying to commit some type of fraud. They asked for my phone records from 2 months prior to the accident, even though I called them the same day the accident occurred. I willingly took the time from my schedule to sit down with their investigator, provided detailed timeliness of the accident and what had happened. She requested to see my phone log and took pictures showing my phone location was on OFF (I did not realize it was required for my phone location to be set to ON). She requested my cell phone record from 2 months before the accident even occurred to prove I had not called any repair facilities (which I gladly provided). I provided every possible document they requested from me (all within the first couple of days from my accident). I also, had the person who towed me provide a statement. After all this they have the audacity to request my cell tower records. I gladly called my cell carrier with the hopes of speeding up and assisting the process. The representative from my cell company explained in all his 10 years of working their he had never heard of such a thing and he regrettable stated, "Sounds as if they are putting you through the hops and giving you the run around". He also, stated / noted that the cell company disclaims they do not track their consumers. To be diligent that he was providing me with good information, he also asked his supervisor and a person from their legal department (they all provided me the same information). He was also glad to do a conference call with my insurance company to help me speed up the process. Which Geico's investigator declined to do the conference call with the representative from my phone company (I found this to be odd since I was trying me best to help them get all their information). I also spoke to my claims person prior to calling the investigator and he explained that would be possible to do and he'd send her a message. After a day of calling her and waiting I finally received a call back from her which she informed me she was unable to do a conference call with them (this was a very big shock because I told by the adjustor it was possible). Not to mention, I would think they would want to speed up the process. In addition, the adjustor who came out to my home to inspect the vehicle mentioned he noted the damages are fresh and I should have no trouble with my claim (WRONG). The worst part is this vehicle was my wife's first new vehicle she had ever purchased (many memories and sentimental value to her). She worked hard and valued this vehicle. Geico did not care, all they cared about was discrediting the customer and prolonging the claim process. At the end of all this, myself and my wife decided the headache of their process was not worth it. Canceled our claim due to having a vehicle just sitting in our garage in the way and just not wanting to deal with the dreadful process any longer. (Thank God the vehicle was paid off) I hope by sharing my experience it will assist others in making a wise choice when choosing an insurance company.
