Finally! I found that authentic Bourekas! I waited at the counter for ten minutes and not one the three people behind the counter even made an effort to connect with me. Add to that the owner or manager was standing right next to me. The food was great! The babaghanoosh and the yummy side salads were very memorable and the baked falafel was delicious too! I tried something new called malawach which is like fried, sweet, crunchy, doughy, pancake, madness anyone would enjoy. I didn't love the tomato sauce it came with nor did I take the hardboiled egg. I think it would have gone really well with Nutella or honey as it was described as a sort of dessert. The service was a bit weird. The restaurant closes at 8 and when we arrived around 7:30 my boyfriend and I could hear chatter that they would be closing on time. We were kicked out at 7:45, just as our malawach pancake had come out of the kitchen. This really left a bad taste in my mouth and I would probably only pick up food to go if I were to return. I would advise coming here early in the day if you plan on enjoying and finishing your meal in house. Also note a lot of the side salads are not included as a part of your meal. They are for sale a la carte as they are weighed and packaged into separate containers and sit in a refrigerated display case.. For example, if you want hummus on your falafel platter, you have to buy 4-6 ounces of it in a separate container. I thought this was a bit unusual. read more

If you're into hummus, falafel and hummus (and I can't see how you wouldn't be), you need to make your way to Geffen's. It's a deli type store, with a place to eat and have casual table service in the back. It's Kosher Parve, so if you're observant, it'll satisfy those requirements too. The Sunday special dip platter is worth the trip alone! They gave us a huge platter of 5 different mezes and wonderful fresh pita. They also sell the mezes in the deli case individually if you'd rather take them home. Everything was great- but we highly recommend the sweet potato eggplant dip. The hummus, served under falafels and a drippy lake of tahini was also so memorable. Their spicy shakshuka is one to write home about too! If you're into spicy food, get it spicy and you won't regret it. Prices are decent, the food is great and the staff is so friendly. Go! read more

I had worked here for a few days during my college years. The owner treats her employees horribly. I was shoved, had my tip money taken from me, and screamed at constantly. Many times she would personally take the opportunity to embarrass me by screaming at me in front of customers. Unfortunately this was not an anomaly and I witnessed verbal abuse towards my fellow co-workers as well. While I can't attest to the food quality as I was too afraid to sample anything, I do believe morality does play a factor in where consumers choose to give their business to. If you are looking for a store that has a more ethical sense of employee treatment, I recommend searching elsewhere. read more

I live in the area.....and I like to eat. Stopped in for the falafel I read about in Newsday a while back FYI the place is a market that has some items that you can take out, including the falafel. There's a falafel bar, where you can have them add what you like. The owner was extremely nice, gave me some samples of a few things and was very accomodating, explaining what things were that I was not familiar with. The food was great. I would recommend if you are in the mood for some good Israeli/Middle Eastern takeout. read more

Ahh kosher food, had a craving for falafel and read the positive reviews. Decided to stop by n give it a shot. Well the reviews are accurate the food is amazing delicious fresh very happy with the food no complaints salads were scrumptious and that is a big deal for kosher food because usually flavor is not there. However what really bothered me about this location is the lack of service. I came in two females are standing behind the counter with their backs turned one short lady one tan lady, at the stand for about 8 minutes waiting to get my order taken even though the spot was empty just to get their attention what is that all about? Person comes in hungry they wants to place the order and eat right away. Sit there and wait while you're packing salads in a plastic container. customer service is awful. Finally put my order in for what I want they don't tell you anything no smile no communication it's like they're doing you a favor by you coming in there to eat. It would not kill you to put a smile on your face or say hello what would you like instead the lady was barking orders pretty much unhappy with that. After I got my order sat down to eat another customer came they were just so rude with the customer I was asking questions after the customer left the two females were making fun of the customer I found it very unprofessional. Another thing I went to go look at the salads nothing is labeled how are you supposed to know in the plastic container what is what and just to ask and get their attention is a hassle so that is why I rated it four out of five stars if the customer service was to improve it will be a Solid 5 stars. I have been looking for a good falafel since I left Queens, NY. I finally found it! I'm so thrilled that I can now have a great falafel right in my area. I pulled right into a parking lot with plenty of spots. It's right off the main strip, not some side street in an unfamiliar neighborhood. The store is lovely and bright and clean. The people were delightful and very friendly and accommodating. The owner is right there. We chatted for a while. They even had seating outside as well as inside. They had so many homemade salads, I had a hard time deciding which to get. They even had fresh baked deserts made right on the premises. I can't wait to see their offerings on a Friday. I'm told that's when they really have everything you could possibly want in fish and parve foods. I can't complain about the prices, either. Everything is very reasonably priced. I read some of the negative reviews on this sight. I have no idea what they are talking about. I don't know what store they went to, but it was sure not the store I was in today. I went to check it out for myself. All I can say is that I am sure glad that I did. read more

If I could give this business 0 stars- I would. First off, their menu online is apparently not the menu in store, and when I called in advance to ask for the order, the worker confirmed whatever was online. So I placed an order for their Falafel plate, (8 falafel balls, comes with tahini, hummus, and a pita for $7.95). When I picked it up and got home, there were 6 balls, no hummus, charged me $9.95, plus they forgot the pita (and this wasn't the first time they forgot the pita). When I called back, the lady said she doesn't have a menu online and that I apparently ordered the lunch special (which I did not, and was clear when I asked on the phone). She was extremely rude and told me it was her workers fault and she said "what am I supposed to do, fire my worker?". She did not compensate me for what I originally ordered. Basically I got less than what I ordered, with a higher price. Horrible service, probably doesn't train or pay workers properly, and is extremely extremely cheap. She said the hummus plate is $11 and I paid $10 for the lunch special, and was fighting me to pay $2 extra dollars for hummus. NOT WORTH IT read more

If you aren't Hebrew speaking and don't wear a yarmulke on your head, you are treated like a pariah. Ultra religious are taken out of turn simply because they speak Hebrew. My sense is that this store only wants to cater to that clientele and has no interest in expanding their patronage.
