Brought our boat here to have our stereo installed on our Mastercraft boat. We initially called around to 5 different places and Geek Squad was a bit more reasonable on installation. The boat came with a pretty good stereo system inside already but we wanted to add tower speakers for wakeboarding. We also bought our speakers and amp somewhere else instead of purchasing it through them. FYI a lot of places in Brentwood will not be too happy to install products that are not purchased through them. Geek Squad didn't mind!
We had 4 speakers, an amp, and upgraded deck. It took 1 day to install and cost around $1500. That included all wires and install. Our boat barely fit inside where they were installing. Being 22ft long and there was 1 inch left to shut the door (incase it took longer for installing). So if you have a longer boat, depending on what your having done they may turn it sideways or have you pick it up back up and bring it back if they don't finish before closing. Everything turned out great, sounded awesome, and was clean with all the wires. They turned up Usher's "I dont mind" on full blast and had all 4 employee's in the break room running out, amazed by the quality of the speakers! They also showed us how to connect our phone, as there were a few steps to setting it up.
However, the reason being for my four stars is what they did not do with our amp. They did not install a spacer. The amp we had, needed a spacer because of where it was installed at inside the boat. When we would go out on the water and blast the speakers they would stop working. Due to the amp overheating. When we called they said no problem will we do it for free, just bring it back. But the problem for us was that it was a "problem" bringing it back. At the time we stored our boat at the Delta Yacht club. They have to pull the boat down, dry stack it, then dock it on the water. Then they have to pull our trailer from the yard, take off the cover, load it on the trailer, then bring it down! Our boat storage is not their fault, but 2 1/2 hours later it's a major pain in the ass to just "bring it down" for an issue they should done in the first place. They installed it and 2 times later after taking the boat out, they stopped working again! Now by this time our 30 day policy had already expired so we ended up installing one ourselves. The whole point of tower speakers it to blast when you're out boarding or tubing.
Overall I would give these guys a chance because they did everything clean and fast, they were also super friendly and took care of the boat. Cleaned all up from the extra wires and screws. Pretty good place on pricing as well. Just make sure to test out the speakers and make sure everything works fully. read more
