Batting 0/2 on electricians Yelp. Called just to inquire about an appointment for electrical work and phone was answered with "Hello." No mention of the business name, no hello this is Rob. If this is the number you use for business I think you should probably answer in a professional manner. After asking if I was speaking to Rob and getting an answer in the affirmative explained what we needed done and where we lived. He then informed me he's closed on Sundays and we live to far out of his service area. Ok no problem but his tone made it sound like I was bothering him. Sorry for calling your BUSINESS NUMBER regarding NEW BUSINESS. If you don't like being bothered on your day off, you should think about using a different number. Just my two cents... read more

When we need an electrician, we call Rob. he has been to our house several times. Last time he fixed a ceiling fan & some inoperable recessed lighting. There are a number of reasons why we are impressed with Rob. He is easy going & pleasant. He saves us money in the ways he gets things to work rather than replacing everything. We don't worry about him taking advantage cost-wise. He has shown he is trustworthy & dependable. And he likes dogs! read more

Can't enough nice things about Rob. Super nice guy. He came out to troubleshoot and fix the problem with my fusebox. It's never a good thing when you see arcing in there. Clean up the wires, checked the outlets, was done in an hour and made sure my home was safe. And like others that have said the same thing, his prices are really competitive. Highly recommend his services. Thank you Yelp and thank you to the Yelp reviewers! read more

We had an emergency on our hands today! Our washer/dryer was not working and we are a week behind on laundry. With 3 kids and two working parents, that can add stress unnecessarily. I called Rob, and he answered. Not only did he pick up the phone, but he found the time in his hectic schedule to fit us in. As a family man himself, he knew the urgency. Rob arrived on time, was pleasant and went right to work on trouble-shooting. Less than 45 minutes later, the issue was identified and corrected. The pricing was quite reasonable, but the attention to great customer service was priceless. Thanks Rob! read more

Excellent job! Professional, friendly and clean! He communicates well and provides useful information. Arriving early and finished the job even cleaning up a bit after! Super nice! Highly recommended and provides free estimates! read more

Rob is the best electrician you will ever find. Not only does he show up on time and does excellent work but his price cannot be beat. He is super honest and keeps his promise. He did my garage electrical subpanel install and outlet installs with led light. Work was flawless and he stayed til almost midnight to finish all work. He even offered to come another day to make any changes to outlet location and install another led light with no extra charge. When i called him second time for making changes he called back right away and came and finished his job for free. Never had such an easy smooth transaction. I recommend rob at gec electric to anyone! He is beyond 5 stars!!! read more

Rob was great. He installed a special outlet for my electric car in the garage of our town home. He clearly knows his stuff, super fast and clean installation. He had everything done within a few hours of our first phone conversation. I initially just asked for a quote, but he was too knowledgable and easy to work with for me to keep shopping. I will be recommending him to anyone in need of electrical work. read more

I would definitely recommend Rob for any of your electrical needs. I called rob last week on a Saturday and not only did he pick up immediately he was at my front door step within twenty minutes (he even fixed one of my non-working lights on the spot at no charge). Rob is very professional and knowledgable, he knows what he's doing. Rob upgraded my electrical panel for a very reasonable price (I won't tell you price only because your house might be bigger or smaller and prices vary). Rob explains everything he's going to do and cleans up very neatly after his work. I am definitely keeping Rob's number on my contacts and will use him again for any of my electrical needs. I would definitely recommend Rob for your job. read more

Rob is great I had three adjoining rooms with lights that were blown out and as usual I tried troubleshooting myself. I told him everything I had done and he was receptive to everything I was saying. Turns out that it was a wire in the wall that had low voltage. Rob diagnosed the problem quickly and charges a reasonable fee. I will be calling Rob in the future for any electrical problems I encounter. Thanks Rob read more

GEC were great to work with. They had some hassles and wait time with our HOA, but were always patient and professional. Worked with us as to various options since I personally didn't know what was out there, only a general idea of what needed to happen. Showed up when they were supposed to and did the work quickly and efficiently. Always courteous and helpful too. read more

I'll try to keep this short- but I have SO many great things to say about Rob! After some earthquake damage resulted in the power lines to my house being cut, I called Rob and he told me he couldn't get out for two days. Sensing the concern in my voice, he agreed to call the next day to see if he could 'swing by' between jobs. He kept me informed and arrived about 4:00. The job proved to be much more difficult than I had described, but he offered to come back the following day. We agreed on the time and rate, but was I very worried about going even longer with zero electricity. I work from home, rely on my computer, and I was going to loose a few hundred dollars in food gone bad in my fridge and freezer with no power for that long. I'm sure he didn't really want to- but he saw my distress and offered to stay on the job to get me up and running that same day before dark. My neighbor pitched in with an extension cord just in case it went longer, and I was able to head over to a friend's house to get some work done. When I returned around 7:30pm, Rob was still at it and he'd called for back up to hold lights and help him get it done. I volunteered too- but he wouldn't hear of it. As of 9 o'clock I'm back in business! Rob really saved my bacon! Not to mention my milk, steaks, and ice cream! This guy 'gets it' and is going to be my 'go to' here on out. Make him yours too! read more

Left msg in regards to installing air compressor and 220/240 volt in warehouse. No return call after 36 hours. Bad way to do business. AVOID

Arrived early. Went right to work and knocked out all the projects. Friendly and informative. Answered all my questions and didn't seem to mind me looking over his should. Will be using Rob again. read more

Rating solely based on appointment made and resulting "No Show". No work performed. Found G.E.C. on Yelp rated 4.5 stars and local, so I called last Thursday for an appointment/estimate and got one for Saturday (yesterday). The woman who scheduled my appointment with "Rob" was helpful and pleasant -- even when I called her back a few hours later to adjust the appointment time to from 2pm to 9 am (so I could include 2 others who needed to be present). The morning of our appointment, the 3 of us awaited Rob at 9am and by 9:40am no one shows up nor calls us.... so I call the G.E.C. office and then "emergency number" that their voice-message lists, but no one answers either number. Hmm... that's not good. So at 9:45am I left voicemails for both numbers and then at 9:55am I sent texts to both asking to confirm my appointment and if Rob was on his way. At 10:06am I receive a call from Rob asking "How may I help you?". After reiterating my voicemail and text that "I wanted to confirm our appointment for this morning and know if you were on your way...", he said he wasn't aware of any such appointment and asked me who I spoke to because "it's just me (him)". I told him I called the number listed in Yelp and he confirm that was indeed his office number, but said "no one" informed him of any appointments (no apology, no offer to come now or even reschedule). Okay, so I'm confused... who could/would be the ones to "tell him" of the appointment if he just asked me who I spoke with to make my appointment because "it's just me (him)"? The woman I spoke with sounded just like the one on his G.E.C. office's voicemail greeting! Since he seemed uninterested in my business, I confirmed it by saying, "So.... you aren't going to make it here?" and he simply said "Not today!" in an annoyed voice making no other comment/offer. I said, "Okay, thank you very much!". Disappointed it ended this way with a local business that appears to be well reviewed by others Yelpers. : ( read more

My wife and I needed a switch replaced in our kitchen. We chose Rob from GEC for the following reasons: licensed electrician (#976530); local; no BBB complaints and a veteran. I called Rob at 7:15 am and he was at our house at 8:20 am. Since he was already at our house, Rob also replaced a recessed light bulb over our bathtub. Rob is incredibly knowledgeable and polite; and cleans up upon job completion. I would be willing to pay a little more for an electrician of this caliber; however, GEC's pricing is more than reasonable. If you want quality work, at a reasonable cost, call GEC! read more

Rob arrived on time. Satisfied with his work. His price is reasonable. Highly recommend Rob for any electrical issues.

I needed electrical work done in my garage since my window contractor cut live electrical wire during the window installation in garage. Rob got back to me right away Friday and came on Sat to do an estimate at 10am. Rob showed up a bit early, which I always like out of my contractors. After he provided a quote, I asked Rob to start the job Sun at 10 am. Rob showed up on time and completed the work within 4 hours like he told me during the quoting process and also patched up the dry wall. I would definitely hire Rob again int the future for more electrical work I need to be done around my house and parents house. read more

We are moving out of our house and needed a local, La Mirada-based electrician to repair our garage wiring on short notice. I called Rob on Monday and he came over on Tuesday. He was thorough and professional, fixing the wiring quickly and the cost was extremely reasonable. I highly recommend Rob based on his professional, expertise, efficiency, and fair pricing. Thanks so much, Rob! read more

Rob of GEC Electric is a terrific person and electrician. He trouble shot and solved a back feed issue that caused several problems at my home efficiently and effectively. He also replaced several external sockets that were almost corroded into place, quickly. Like all other reviewers, Rob also provided a competitive market price that was fair. More importantly, he backs up the price with quality work and easy to understand explanations of what needs to be done and why. If you are looking for a quality electrician that you can trust, call Rob at GEC Electric. Like other reviewers, we highly recommend the services that GEC Electric can provide. read more

This was my first time using Rob and I was super happy with the work that he provided. When he came to give me an estimate he was on time, and very helpful. His prices were very competitive with three other estimates I had received. Rob was even able to offered a few suggestions to a couple ideas I was tending with as far as plug placement an ideal locations for speakers in the outside patio area. read more

Rob was awesome. He came out the day after I called him and showed up on time. He was fast and clean. I would definitely recommend him.

We went with Rob and his wife when we redid the majority of our interior lights. They installed cans, switches, ceiling fans, new fixtures, a microhood, GFCI outlets, and patched a ton of existing damage. We're pretty happy with the results and will use them again to finish up the remaining work. read more

We have now had Rob at GEC Electric out twice to our home, and both times we have been thoroughly pleased with his professionalism, quality of work, and pricing. I'm recommending GEC to all my friends and family, and to Yelp because it's hard to find someone you can trust when it comes to doing electrical work in your home. I trust Rob 100%. So far he has upgraded the electrical in our garage, installed canned lighting in our living room, mounted our flatscreen over the fireplace (which is awesome!), and converted a self in our entryway closet into a multimedia center for our data devices. I highly, highly recommend Rob. read more

We just moved to a new location and we needed a new breaker installed in the electrical panel. I'm so glad I found Rob, he was the only one that would help us because we needed the job done FAST. EXCELLENT job!!!! No one likes to call to get estimates on this kind of work. Called Rob up, he answered himself, was extremely professional and pleasant to talk to. Felt very comfortable with choosing him for the job. He came out the same day and within minutes had the problem figured out. Did not take much time after that to fix it. Very reasonable in pricing and very reliable. Will be recommending him to anyone and everyone I know. read more

I found Rob on Yelp because of the great reviews and was not disappointed. We needed 240 volt breakers and wiring installed at our home and Rob did an excellent job. Well Rob did it again! He is prompt, and efficient. He is the only electrician I will use because he knows how to do everything! His staff is very courteous and helped me trouble shoot to make sure it wasn't something simple that I could fix myself (like making sure the light bulbs were working!) Don't hesitate to call GEC! read more

Rob was great. I am a caregiver and I have several clients that I am in charge of running their households. One of my client's was having trouble with the lights flickering, so I called around and got a few estimates that wanted to charge over $3000.00 for a new panel. Rob came out check the electric panel and said that some of the circuits just needed to be rewired, that they were on overload. He saved us thousands where these other electricians just see you as a dollar sign If I could give him 10 stars I would. He is very professional, reliable, and very honest. Rob cares about his customers. If you are looking for a electrician look no further he is the BEST! Highly recommend his services to anyone. read more

Rob came out and went right to work to replace an electric plug socket that I tried to replace. He found the problem. It was the new socket that I had bought. He found the receipt and took it back himself. That is great customer service! He installed the newer electric socket and everything is great. The price was very reasonable. He has a new loyal customer. read more

Just like the review from LK I scheduled an appointment and of course no one showed up. I called and left 3 voicemail's on 3 different phone numbers trying to get an answer on the day the service work was supposed to be performed but no one had the common decency to contact me back. Stayed home from work waiting for these guys and no one showed up and no one called, my appointment was for 2-22-16 at 9:00 am. I'm sure they will respond with some excuse but don't waste your time, there's nothing worse than a small company performing this kind of service. I own a few residential and commercial properties in La Mirada and Whittier and was looking forward to finding a new electrician since one I've used for years retired. Is it too much to ask for a simple phone call? If you can't make it you can't make it but to avoid a customer and not return their calls or show up at all is pretty sad. There's no reason to respond to this review with your excuse as it honestly won't do you any good. Thanks for wasting my time. read more
