But, I knew right then that as soon as I got back I had to go to GB to fulfill that fish and chip need. I love GB. I love the variety that they offer other than just basic fish. Stopped in for dinner when a friend had some to go from GB Fish & Chips the night before and started to crave it when I saw her enjoying it. The person taking our order was very pleasant and the food didn't take long to wait. I love that there's indoor and outdoor seating for when the weather is nice which is often in Denver. We've eaten at this spot many times and always find ourselves coming back if we want some fish and chips since it's close and delicious. The double cod order with chips was the perfect size for two people. The fish was battered to perfection and I love the fat fries or "chips". First time getting the curry sauce with our order and I actually really liked it paired with everything. I like that there's actual onions in it too. GB Fish & Chips is a cute and bit eclectic small place. There are nice tables inside and out that can easily sit 5-7 people as well as some smaller tables. They have soccer jersey and other fun stuff on the walls and ceilings. For the food, I got the cod fish basket combo. Came with a drink and a side. I picked fries. The fish was cooked perfectly and fries were great! I'd probably ask for them slightly cooked more, next time. Also reddened the clam chowder. It was super hot and delicious! You can get the cod, haddock or pollock for the fish. The later two are one big piece vs 3 cod pieces. Prawns, squid and scallop are on the menu as well. They have a bar and some good deals on beer. There is a soda fountain as well. Refill up!! You can get ketchup, tarter, malt vinegar, hot sauce, salt/pepper, lemons, plastic ware at the side counter. All in all it was great and would go back. Order at the counter and they'll holler for you to come pick up at the delivery window. It's a fun place with lots of seating indoors and several outdoor tables. It's not a complicated menu and they have most of the necessary ingredients for a great fish & chips meal like a tartar sauce and ketchup pump station! WHAT?? Wow!! Their clam chowder was AMAZING and hot!! The fish was incredible but the fries (chips) weren't crispy enough for my liking. Next time i'll be sure to request extra crispy chips. The tartar sauce in the pump on the counter was pretty decent, but not very fresh. It tasted like it was made with dried onions and dried pickles and not fresh. I think my biggest complaint is the lack of cleanliness on the bottles of malt vinegar, salt, and pepper shakers, jars of hot sauce, and anything else that people's hands touch. read more

I last visited GB Fish & Chips back on 9/3/24 at their location in Arvada. They have continued to offer weekly specials. On Wednesdays you can get a large piece of fried haddock for $10. The regular price is $18. The other fish (swimmers) include cod, Pollock, prawns, squid and scallops. You can add sides for $3.25 each. I got a bowl of clam Chowder with plenty of clams & potatoes in a lightly salted cream base. The price stayed at $9.25; I was served by Madison W. She was chippy and gave me time to consider my options. You get a buzzer. Everything is cooked fresh. They have a full bar & soft drinks. I got iced tea. They have multiple picnic tables inside + counters. The back patio has tables with umbrellas. It took 5 min to get my hot haddock filet, crispy chips (steak fries) and my hot clam Chowder. A fun experience and great food! This was my first time at GB Fish & Chips. It's a very casual atmosphere with soccer jerseys and spacious wooden tables. The menu is really centered around how many pieces of fish you want. I got snapper ($5 a piece) and my partner got cod. The fish was made fresh and the chips (fries) were great! We visited the Arvada location this weekend. Staff are really really lovely! Food was decent but not the traditional British chippy experience at all. (I am a born and raised Brit). Haddock was superb! Chips are not at all authentic and are instead just basic US steak fries. The shepherds (cottage pie) was good! No mushy peas!!! The cod fish and the pies are amazing and the best I've had in the states we went to the Sloans lake location . very clean and tidy inside and Kourtney and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. We have just arrived in Denver from Tennessee, it's more than a little different. Coming from England I know my fish and chips. The fish is great but the chips could do with some improvement and I would love to tell the horse if they are interested. Also a couple of additions to the menu bangers in batter are amazing and will sell very well. Also if they were to add mushy pees to compliment the sides. My husband and I dined in tonight at the Broadway location. We've not been for a while. Clam chowder was runny and not like he remembered it. Cod was not cooked well and I suspect the frying oil wasn't hot enough or the batter too thick. Batter on fish was still gooey inside. Chips/fries were oily/greasy and, once again, I suspect oil not hot enough. We were shocked at the increase in prices. 6 pieces of fish, chips, and a drink was almost $40! Total $60 spent with chowder, one beer, and tip. Not worth it! I wish I had said something at the restaurant but my husband hates when I speak up. It's been many a year since I stopped at a GB Fish and Chips but I'm sure glad I did. I really enjoyed this visit and I suspect I'll be returning rather soon. The service was easy and very personalized. The service was so cheeky, it made me smile. Not to mention the woman that took my order was strikingly beautiful. I ordered a fish and chips combo with cod and one extra piece of fish that was red snapper. For dessert, I ordered some bread pudding. The fish was prepared extremely well. Light, a great tasting batter and not overly greasy. The steak sized fries/chips were made just right. The bread pudding was one of the better bread puddings I've ever had. An odd thing to say about a fast food type place. My Newcastle beer was the perfect match for this yummy meal. It's in kind a crappy area at 13th and Broadway and it takes a second to figure out where to park. I wouldn't park on Broadway proper as it's just dangerous don't park in the parking lot just north of GBs as it specifically says they will tow GB customers. I sense some bad blood there. I am fairly picky about fish and chips. I can pretty quickly spot a kitchen that uses dirty oil or is inconsistent with their product. While a few people warned me that GB was a "chain," I also saw good reviews on Yelp. Showed up late on a Friday. GB was hopping! They have great choices of fish and drinks and pasties. Got the basic Cod with curry sauce on the side. OMG... flaky fish and crunchy fries with a zinger of curry sauce and malt vinegar. This is no LONG JOHNS! Atmosphere, service, & food(which was different than this Broadway location), was superior to other locations. So not only did they change the menu - even at the Broadway location, they got rid of the tilapia, and also changed their cod, selection... - And! totally tripled their prices!!!... So incredibly disappointed! The food was expensive! The portions were cheap! And even the fries were a smaller portion than usual... Wake up guys! You had a fantastic product and you messed with it! Then you more than tripled your prices!! Used to be a great value - now a total rip off!! And! You want tips?... Especially when people either take it out, or bus their own tables... That's ridiculous. Sick of people always trying to take advantage of hard-working folk. You used to be a place - "totally of the people"... Now you feel like commercial opportunists. Won't be back. I dream about this fish. This is my favorite fish and chips! I never cared for fried fish before, but this is a life altering experience in taste. The fish is fresh, buttery and soft, the breading is light and crunchy, and the house made tartar sauce is a thing of beauty. This location is in a classic antique building, and the dining area has beautiful wood tables, probably just as old. I didn't want a massive plate of fried food, so went with a bowl of clam chowder and got a side of fries to help fill me up. The chowder came in a plastic 1 lb container that you get a the deli counter at the grocery store. I was pretty disappointed with that. To be eating out of a plastic container. We are spoiled by a place in the Springs that has Haddock for their Fish n Chips and it is off the hook awesome! No pun intended! The service here was fantastic!
