I've been to alot of Mexican places an this is different this is more new Mexican cuisine, I know my fair share of good ass new Mexico food this is definitely something, when you first walk in the environment is somewhat dreamy and vibrant, when you go to sit down the place almost looks like it was full of smoke I ate downstairs which is dimmly lit but very pleasing only downside was it was fairly toastly in there, I looked for a burger then I saw a tortilla burger which is not what you expect, it's a burger on top of a tortilla not gonna lie kind of a let down since I thought it was going to be a crunch wrap supreme style looking thing from taco bell. Anyway I got the green Chile burger too which was amazing expect the chiles spice overwhelmed the amazing flavor so I took some off and doing so made it 1000 times better (I only took a small off not all of it) I very much recommend this place especially their triple dip. read more

I love the spicy New Mexican kick of the food here! Service has been very good to fair and I am a return customer. I love the enchiladas Christmas style, with the red and green sauce. Yummy, but beware, spicy hot! While they do not include chips and salsa with your meal, which leaves me room for the real food anyhow, they do offer complementary sopapillas (a fried pastry) with honey at the end of the meal. read more

Great walkable spot from our hotel. We sat at the bar for a few drinks, chips and guacamole while we waited for an order to-go. The bartender and wait staff were super friendly, attentive and even gave us sopapillas for free with our order. Super sweet! Plus the quesadillas we took with us were fantastic. This Mexican restaurant had such a cute atmosphere and location. There are warnings about the level of spice in their chile sauce, so I was a little concerned as we don't care for extremely spicy food. But, once seated, our server, Sam G., explained that they can leave the sauce off the top and replace with queso, which was delicious. I had the stuffed sopapillo and it was delicious! Meh. I do love that this place is one of the few spots in town that serves red and green chile and is open past 2pm (my favorite chiles are at our breakfast places). My main hang up is price vs quality. If this food was $7-8/plate, it would make sense. Unfortunately, it's double that. Chips and salsa are not complementary, which is odd, especially considering the price. Also, the chile (green and red) is mediocre at best (I ended up putting salsa and hot sauce on my food, even though it was smothered). Not really a fan although my husband liked it. The bathrooms were disgusting (both toilets had floaters left in there and there were stray hairs all over the sink) and the chili pepper decor hanging over our table had a thick layer of dust. The decor in general just didn't have a warm, inviting feel to it. I ordered the Vegetarian New Mexican platter and it was too soupy to really eat so I sent it back. Got guac and chips ($8 which is way overpriced) instead and even that had big chunks of onions in it and wasn't very tasty. You don't get chips and salsa included in the meal which I kind of come to expect but you DID get included sopapillas for dessert which were pretty good. Stopped in twice in one night. First for dinner...they didn't even speak to us about sitting down because they saw a large group walk through the door and walked away. Stopped in for a margarita on our way back from dinner and same thing...saw us walk in and bartender walked to the back. I counted 30 seconds and the bartender and hostess never approaches us. Gazpacho is decidedly hit or miss. When it's a hit, its incredibly good NEW MEXICAN food including a lot of green chile dishes. The downside: Their waitstaff is invariably immature young girls with little or no wait experience. Service almost ALWAYS poor. I have had to walk to the bar MYSELF for drinks more times than I can count, much ever see water or ice-tea glasses refilled. Or not get seated at all. Lively, boisterous and busy restaurant just off Main Street on 2nd. Pretty good New Mexican food with authentic taste. Red and green sauces are medium spicy. What a horrible experience. My family came here to grab some dinner after skiing all day. First, my older son ordered a kids burrito. He asked to add meat to his burrito and the special was carnitas. I ordered the chimichanga special with the same meat. Well the meat was so hot and my poor kid had chapped lips that he was in excruciating pain for about 15 minutes. Who gives a kid hot anything without warning them? We ordered a replacement but it took forever. He was crying at one point from hunger and the pain. My food was terrible as well. First, I couldn't taste anything because the meat and the sauce was so hot that I couldn't taste anything else. The refried beans were dried out on the edges. Looks like they globbed that mess on the plate two hours before. Gross. I have a picture but I thought I would spare everybody. My wife's chicken soft taco's were bland. My other boy's chicken tenders were of low quality. It was processed chicken. How do you screw up Mexican food so badly? Is there no star rating? read more

Great menu choices. If you love spices done right this is the place to go. Waiter Sean was knowledgable of the menu and timed his order placement so we could enjoy each course appropriately. Gazpachos is GREAT for going to have a VERY strong margarita or $2 taco on taco nights but other than that we dont go their for their food although if youve never had a green chili cheeseburger, this is the place!! those are actually very delicious there. Either New Mexican food is weak, or this place is just overpriced garbage. Being a Southern California native, and coming from a Chicano family, I think I have a good sense of what decent Mexican food is. And I'm here to tell you that this place is nowhere near decent. Right off the bat, we were seated in a corner that was crawling with flies, and served salsa that tasted like cheap marinara. The oregano they throw into the mix definitely doesn't help. So we asked to be moved outside where, ironically, the flies were less bothersome. I ordered the Sonoran tacos, and my girlfriend ordered tamales. The beans and rice that came with my meal were served in a small dish, and left a lot to be desired. The beans taste like canned muck, and the rice had that same cheap marinara flavor that the salsa had. While my tacos weren't the worst, the tamales were, without a doubt, the worst I've ever eaten in my life. The masa was what ruined it. It tasted like pancake batter, and had a slightly chalky consistency. It's definitely premixed trash. My girlfriend ended up leaving almost all of the food on her plate In the end, the service was really the only good thing about this place, but I definitely can't recommend it on that alone. Avoid this place. It's cheap, tasteless food sold at a ridiculously high price for people who have no sense of what good Mexican food is, or even what good food is. read more

Having lived in Albuquerque for 9 years I get the difference in "Mexican" food and "NEW Mexican." I enjoyed it. Have the chicken enchiladas, blue corn, green chile. Chicken was very tasty, green chile just enough kick. As mentioned earlier, the retried beans were bland. A little salt helped, but some lard would make them delicious. Waitstaff was attentive, with several people checking to see if I needed refills, etc. I must give props to my waitress, Joanne. She was amazing! She was busy with several large tables but had everything covered. She seemed to really be enjoying her job and had a great personality! read more

I love Gazpachos! I loved that the menu had many vegetarian options. Out of all the veggie options, I asked my sever the first time I visited what she recommended - I went ahead with what she suggested and I was not disappointed. It was delicious. The margaritas are yummy as well and I especially loved the free sopaipilla with local honeyville honey (YUM!!) that comes after the meal. But what I love most about Gazpachos is the excellent service. Kyleen has been my waitress a few times now and I love her! Shes so sweet, checks up on us, gives great recommendations, and always asks if she can do anything more for us. Friendly, helpful service, good solid food. Be warned that New Mexico food can be quite picante, even to TexMex lovers. I came here because I saw that they have New Mexican food. They don't. Not even close. The menu looks awesome but the actual food is ok at best. I could see why someone who isn't used to chiles would think that they are hot but if you are used to them they are pretty mild. On a positive note, my wife and kids loved the sopapillas.
