This is a small used car dealer/repair shop in vestal NY. They have maybe 25 cars on the lot,…read moremostly 3-5 years old. Their webpage was up to date and spot on with the photos, descriptions and the asking prices were the same as the prices given in person. The best part of it was their site was up to date with their stock, a big problem for most of the car dealers I have dealt with over the years. Richard (son of Carlo, who I also met briefly) was very thorough in his presentation of the car, both in it's history, all the work they did to it to ready it for sale (he showed me the invoices!) I am a licensed auto appraiser, and as an occupational hazard I pick out flaws in any cars fit and finish. Richard was telling them to me even before I pointed them out. I've never had a dealer be so honest and up front about a vehicle they were trying to sell. He allowed my wife and I to take a lengthy test drive...by ourselves...so we could put the car through it's paces. He even recommended a place we could each lunch, as we were not from the area. I am an educated buyer, I knew exactly what I wanted and what a fair price would be. The actual negotiation was easy, I made a fair offer and he accepted it. No BS, no tricks, nothing other than "that's fair, I can do that" I've bought a ton of cars in my life, both new and used. This was by far the best purchase experience that I have ever had. I've had the car for just about a month now, had zero issues with it and I could not be happier with the experience. The next time I go shopping, they will be first on my list.

Plus who wants to ADMIT that they paid too much???? But I have yet to see anything that makes me feel other than I got a good deal on a good car. WALK IN." (Seriously. Even doctors offices can look at their Scheduling Book & say yes or no, we do/don't have available appointments open, how about this date & time?) The last Rep said "come in 10:00am & see Andrew & Jamal" so here we are, but apparently that's her best guestimate & not a good one either. They can't get to our car for 2.5 hrs, meanwhile we have no other personal days left to lose playing wack a mole on having our car seen, we just waited there & had to approach the desk people of how much longer it will be. We arrived at the time they told us, ended up being the last customers to leave from a filled waiting room of customers. Bottom line: We just wanted a set appointment. How hard can it be to do that for customers that bought 2 new cars & paid $70K+? Even the nail salon can look at their schedule & say "Yes, in 2 weeks on Saturday 11am we can book you."

Extremely frustrating experience with Gault BMW, and a complete waste of my time…read more My BMW has a 3-year maintenance plan that includes three oil services, and the plan expires on October 2. My last oil change was in November 2025, and I am still about 4,000 miles short of the normal 10,000-mile service interval. Because I knew I was technically early for the next service, I specifically called ahead to make sure the oil change would still be covered before the maintenance plan expired. I did not call once. I called THREE separate times. Each time, I clearly explained the situation: when my last service was performed, that I had not yet reached the normal mileage interval, and that my maintenance plan was about to expire. I repeatedly asked whether they could perform the oil change under the plan anyway. I was repeatedly told that it would be covered because I was still within the three included oil services. Based on those assurances, I scheduled the appointment. I then got up early and drove about an hour from Ithaca to Binghamton specifically for this appointment. After I arrived and waited approximately 30 minutes, I was suddenly told that they could NOT perform the oil change under the maintenance plan because it had not been one year or 10,000 miles since my previous service. That policy itself is not what makes this experience unacceptable. If that is BMW's policy, they could simply have told me that during any one of my THREE phone calls. I specifically called ahead to avoid exactly this situation. Instead, I was given incorrect information multiple times, made an appointment based on that information, drove more than 100 miles round trip, and spent roughly two hours driving for absolutely nothing. What made the situation worse was the manager's response. Rather than acknowledging that their department had repeatedly given me incorrect information, he told me that if they changed the oil, he would have to "personally pay for it." That completely misses the point. I was not asking him for a personal favor. I was asking the dealership to take responsibility for information its own staff repeatedly provided to a customer. I understand that individual employees can make mistakes. But when a customer calls three times specifically to verify coverage, receives the same assurance, schedules an appointment based on those assurances, and then drives an hour each way only to be turned away, that is a failure of the dealership's customer service process. If I had been given the correct information on the first call, none of this would have happened. More than 100 miles of unnecessary driving and several hours wasted because I trusted what Gault BMW told me over the phone. Very disappointing experience.

We call a tow truck and find a close Volkswagen dealer to bring the car. I called ahead and they said they were busy but could certainly pull the codes to find out what was happening. Upon arrival they immediately put a tech on it and he rapidly diagnosed a faulty alternator. I went into the service counter to decide what to do with the car and it turns out it was lucky for me that the Service Manager was in on his day off to take care of a few things. He immediately hatched a plan to get the alternator in house quickly and asked a tech to stay late to get us back on the road. Wow what great luck, but it turns out it was too good to be true, the alternator was not available locally, but they could get it by Monday. The service manager came up with another great plan to get us going. We leave the car for service and we get an enterprise rental car to get going and he will arrange for our car to be delivered to us in Rhode Island for a nominal fee. He calls Enterprise to get us a car (they close in 20 minutes) and then drives us to the rental place in his own car, waits for us to obtain the car before leaving, shakes our hand and we are back on the road. The car was repaired for less than the quoted price and is on its way back to me now. I cannot say enough good things about the service department at Matthews on the Parkway in Vestal, NY. You may not need what I did, but they will certainly bend over backwards to help you.
