They didn't start working on the car until an hour of waiting, and charged for it. I recommend going somewhere else if you can.

About 2 months ago, our son bought a used car from Matthews Planet PreOwned. Unfortunately the car did not have a second key or an owner's manual. We did not realize this was the case when he paid for the car. We didn't sign the paperwork until a week after our son paid and that is when we found out about the items missing. We were originally told that we would have to pay extra for the items since they were listed as not being part of the purchase. However, after a discussion about the missing items, Matthews kindly offered to provide the owners manual free of charge and to give us a second key at a reduced cost. Ideally they did not have to do either because the items were listed as not part of the sale. We appreciated their understanding and accommodation. read more

I made an appointment to drive 3 hours to look at a specific vehicle, have confirmation to do so, get there & they tell me they sold it. No phone call, text message, email, anything to let me know before driving 3 hours. Then looked me in the face and told me they did try contacting me but when I asked how, was told it's my problem not theirs. The salesman if you could even call him that kept trying to push other vehicles but couldn't even tell me where they were located on the lot. read more

I don't even know where to begin. High interest rates, rude customer service, and a complete waste of my time and energy. They lost two customers who referred over 4 people to this location in the past 6 months. When car was bought, I will say salesman was good. BUT only a month into having vehicle.... issues are coming up and they are not at all willing to help me or fix them. Dishonesty after dotted line is signed is all I see. They knew of problems and still sold me car. I will never step foot there again and I will tell everyone I know to steer clear! I was speaking to a friend about THEIR company. We had just bought a car here, and the person I was with would have been the 5th car in 3 months they sold because of us! If I could give negative stars I would. So we purchased a truck from this place and as soon as we signed on the dotted line, literally seconds later, they came to tell us that the service worker just drove it into a wall when bringing it inside the garage. SMASHED the whole front passenger side. Hmmmm pretty convenient that we just signed for the truck. That truck shouldn't have even been in the garage, it should've been parked out front for us. They didn't want to knock anything off the price, NOTHING. So we decided we didn't like the b.s. service and we no longer wanted the vehicle. We were promised to get our hold fee back and here we are over a month later and nothing has been refunded. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. read more

THE GOOD: The quantity of dealerships provides for a good selection of new or used vehicles. THE BAD: Small dingy showroom that lacks any resemblance of a modern car dealership. Sales people appear disinterested, unprofessional in appearance, and disingenuous while working with customers. The "No Haggle" business model feeds directly into the "Take it or leave it/We don't care" attitude displayed by the Sales Manager and Sales personnel. Trade offers are unrealistic and unreasonable. Sales personnel are unwilling or incapable of working with a buyer to achieve a mutually beneficial business deal. OVERALL: While the selection of cars may be appealing, I would suggest taking your time and money elsewhere. The chain of dealers appears to be in a middle area between "Mom & Pop" and a true franchise partner among the major brands. The attitude of the sales team needs an overhaul. read more

Probably one of the most frustrating car buying experiences. We found a truck on their website and came to look at it, there was some cosmetic issues that they said were being taken care of the next day. My husband took it for a test drive and liked it, so we said we would come back the next evening when we were child-free and could do the paperwork. The truck wasn't taken to have the work done when we got there the next day. We filled out the paperwork and was approved that night. We came back to sign off on everything and they told us the body shop was backed up but we could take the truck and they'd get us in ASAP for the work. We never heard from them and my husband had to call and call. Then, it's january, and it was raining... I got in the truck and the whole ceiling was wet! So my husband called about that issue. Finally 2 days later we get a call back to bring it in.... get to the body shop on Tuesday morning and the body shop was only informed of part of the work that needed to be completed. They never gave us a timeline of when it would be complete or an offer of a rental (we live 45 mins away). I called on Friday and have gotten the run around and not one person can give me an answer of when the truck will be done or if we get a rental or anything. Now it's 3pm on a Friday I'm sure we won't hear anything until Monday at the earliest. We purchased the extended warranty as well however after this experience I'm guessing any work that has to be done will be such a hassle and so time consuming It won't be worth it. The truck also only came with one key, we asked to order another one (we would pay) and haven't heard a thing on it. Poor, poor communication and service. Would love to get my money back and go somewhere else at this point. read more

If there was an option to do no stars, I would pick that. The process of buying a car there was the most unprofessional experience that I have ever had. The salesman was new and was extremely unaware of the credit process. He made promises that never happened. I gave them another chance when I came back to the service department to get my car fixed. But then I was ROBBED of $300!! They changed a part in my car that had nothing to do with the issue and then said take it a ford dealership maybe they can figure it out. Bought a car yesterday and salesman was very dishonest. Chose to buy a car here after a previous visit. Said to salesman Jerry Jackson that a different dealership was charging me almost 2000$ for a warranty and he scoffed and said no no no it's included in the price here. We will even beat the price as we are the lowest in the state. Came back to sign the papers, noticed that he charged 1700$ extra for the warranty. I called him out on it and he said he told me it was included not free. Ok... So if a car is sticker marked 11999 and the warranty is included as states then how did the price jump 1700$ ? Seems we have a very different view of the word included. Also salesman Jerry Jackson called and texted my wife several times talking about mathews numbers for the month. I'm pretty sure there whole advertising scope is that they are not pushy typical salespersons. And last, I showed them the add for the same car elsewhere for 1000$ less and he they can't match it because the other vehicle has less miles, 300+- it must be within he said. The cheaper one in the add had 400 LESS miles. Splitting hairs if you ask me. I asked to see the manager several times and he never got one for me to speak to. I like the car and so does my wife so I finally bit my tongue. So she pulls out of the lot, BLINKER is out! So how did a vehicle that was just inspected for her purchase pass without a BLINKER? That just raises more questions about the ethic of Mathews Planet Preowned. Love the car, happy with the car, feel very taken advantage of and lied to by the salesman. I think management should fix these concerns and refund the warranty price and or the 1000$ price match policy that is in effect. I went to Planet Preowned because i won a free NYS inspection there. When i took my car, they said it would not pass inspection because the back brakes were not legal. They quoted a me a high price to have them replaced there. I declined and took my car to a very reliable garage in Oneonta, NY. They quoted me a price $100 less than Planet Preowned. But, upon inspection, they said that THE BRAKES WERE LEGAL AND SAFE AND DID NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED. So how honest and trustworthy is Matthews Planet Preowned??? read more

Then I asked them not to submit request to bank because I didn't want to trade my jeep for practically nothing but they did it anyways! No communication between workers!! shit service! I was referred to this gentleman "Adam" the one who deals with approving applications for loan directly with them. The last resort when your credit is not good. I guess I wasn't that important. In that I didn't have lots of money to put down. I had a car I had purchased through them and lasted 3 years and stuck with a car payment on it for 29 more months. Couldn't trade it in. So the issue I had with him was the professionalism was so bad. I am loyal to the sales person with them but I would not finance a car ever directly with them (although I did get finance with another bank). Didn't return my calls, I chased him, finally said he couldn't do nothing for me(got the impression he didn't try). I asked him what happen to 100 percent approval. He says well you don't have anything to offer (put down)well not right there at the moment, I didn't with that tone of voice. I gave up and went with my original loan people and guess what got financed. The sales person I dealt with didn't even know what happened because Adam never contacted him either (his own people) I knew what was going on and sales person had no idea. what a joke. Please DO NOT EVER buy a car from these guys. They lured me in with the false pretense of guaranteed credit approval on a radio advertisement. But even after I went in the second time, with the 1,000 dollars they told me to come back with and they promised to put me in a car, I still needed a co-signer?! They didnt let me choose a vehicle I was shown a list of vehicles I was approved for and every time i wanted to see a car it was the same this one is on hold or not available excuse. After finally finding a black chevy cobalt i was willing to purchase they told me it "has not been appraised yet" and could not sell it to me to "come back tommorrow." I cams back the following day and now the cobalt, I was forced into choosing one of only 2 choices they gave me, was 1000$ over my guaranteed approved loan??? So i very hesitantly went with the ONLY car i could buy even with a co-signer. Planet pre-owned got me a loan and promised me that if i returned in 6 months they would help me re-finance and my payments would be cheaper (335.71 a month for over 5 yrs on a car that only had a 7999$ price tag not counting the 1000$ i put down). I was new to this as i had never bought a car from a dealership before nor had to get a loan for higher than a couple thousand before. So after paying almost triple what i should have been paying monthly for the supposed only car available for twelve months i returned to planet pre-owned and spoke with the exact same salesman about refinancing the vehicle he promised to help me with, he looked at me like i was insane and i had two other people with me who were also present at the time of the initial promise of refinancement. Little did i know he was just playing me into getting my money and destroying my credit score which i have spent so many years building. He told me that a bank usually refinances and when i told him of the promise he made all of a sudden he couldnt recall ever selling me a car. I dont want to get into the nightmare i went through after this all happened but im still dealing with this on my credit after paying about 14,000 dollars and eventually surrendering the vehicle that had a 7999 price which was well over paid. I eventually spoke with my bank and they had told me my payments should have only been about 160$ a month NOT 335$. Please do not go here they lie they promise bullshit and they dont even let you pick the vehicle, by far the worst financial experience of my entire life! I would give a negative review if possible, i even thought about taking legal action. read more
