We had an absolutely incredible dining experience with Gather & Forge for our backyard wedding. Since we were going small with venue and guests, we wanted a really special meal to share and celebrate with our loved ones. Michelle made all the booking logistics smooth and easy. Chef Anthony curated a perfect menu after a brief conversation to get to know the vibe we were going for and our likes and dislikes. They proactively communicated on the day of the wedding which was a huge stress relief, and Chef Tony arrived right on time and got right to work in the midst of all of us rushing around before the ceremony began. Once dinner began, Chef Tony made the rest of the evening a total breeze. Every course was more delicious than the last, with gorgeous ingredients and presentation. Everyone was blown away and still talking about the meal days later. It was also so nice to not have to worry about managing table clean up/dishes/ etc. so we could all just relax. Chef Tony took care of every detail, obviously has a real passion for his work, and was also really fun to have around for our big day. Thanks Chef Tony and the G&F team for making this dinner such a lovely and memorable experience! read more

Gather & Forge was AMAZING. I have never done an in home chef before but wanted to plan something special for my fiance's birthday. I put in my request a little last minute but they were able to find a fantastic chef for us, Luke! I can't say enough great things about Luke. His menu was creative and exactly what we were looking for. He arrived right on time and was very friendly/personable as well. The dishes came out at a perfect pace and were beautifully plated - I wish I had taken more pictures! The night was a hit and everyone really enjoyed themselves. I have Gather & Forge booked for my bachelorette party two weeks from now and I know they will be a hit! read more

Chef Ryan delivers! I came to Austin for a bachelorette party and this was my favorite part of the whole weekend. I am a huge foodie and I can easily say this is one of the best meals I have ever had in terms of experience and quality of food. Everything was carefully put on our plate making the presentation beautiful and the food was so fresh and every ingredient was carefully thought out! If you're looking for a private chef, you must go through gather and Forge! We had a bachelorette party and I decided to book a private chef to cook for us one evening. When I booked the event I told Ryan over the phone that we'd like informal cooking lessons and he was totally on board with it. He booked us with Nick Hymel as our Chef and Nick was incredible! We spoke several times before the event and planned the menu. He prepped items before he arrived so he had to do little work before we could dive in. Nick taught our group how to shuck oysters and he made rose jello and made an oil to season the oysters. After we spent a while on the oysters, he moved onto figs. I thought figs were simple - you cut them and eat them. But thanks to Nick, I now have a new way of cooking figs and I can't wait to recreate the appetizer! He dipped prosciutto in a marinade before adding them to the figs and it was absolutely delicious. After we snacked on apps we girls decided to take about 30 minutes to finish watching the UT vs. LSU game before dinner started. During the "break" Nick cleaned up the kitchen and prepped dinner. He made sure we were good on appetizers before moving to the next course. For dinner he made salmon and asparagus. Pretty basic, right? Wrong! We don't know what he did to that salmon, but oh my goodness, it was divine. Even the seafood hater in the group scarfed down her salmon and asked for seconds! He paired it with some type of chili sauce and omg now I am salivating just writing this. For desert, Nick made cake with homeade ice cream and some time of sauce at the bottom. It was so delicious. I strongly recommend Gather and Forge and I strongly recommend Nick Hymel. He is extremely personable, accommodating, and an incredible chef. I plan on having another gathering at my house and am hoping to book Nick through Gather and Forge. The process was so easy and the company is so accommodating. read more

Chef Anthony captained a dinner party for eight in our home, with a seven-course tasting menu. He and his assistant were on time, well prepared, and communicated well before the event, including adjusting the menu to our taste. We were delighted with each dish, including both presentation and taste. The choice of ingredients was creative and the visual appearance of each dish was great. The event was a tremendous success with our guests giving high praise to every aspect. We look forward to having Tony back in the near future. read more

I needed to plan a private dinner for 19 girls in Austin for a bachelorette party. After reviewing a couple chefs' pages and menus, we decided to go with Ryan since he could cater to the dietary restrictions for the entire party and his prices were very reasonable. Tip: Look at his FB and Instagram pages for other ideas! After submitting his form online, I paid a deposit and gave him rough ideas of the type of cuisine we enjoyed. I reached back out to him about 2 weeks prior to the date to confirm the menu. We confirmed the address and start time for dinner the day of. Ryan and his assistant came about an hour before with the pre-prepped food and put the finishing touches together at the Airbnb we rented. Since we weren't sure if we had enough place settings and utensils, he brought these with him as well. The first course was Hawaiian Ono ceviche with many different types of fruits and a curried sauce. The sauce was so flavorful! The second course was a mushroom risotto topped with grilled zucchini and braised short rib. This dish was so filling and delicious! The risotto was very rich and the short rib was very tender. For dessert we had a decomposed strawberry shortcake with a Thai ice cream. This was a light and refreshing way to finish the meal. He was nice enough to let us keep the leftovers so we had something to snack on after we return from a night out! They were very professional and courteous the whole time and left the prep area spotless when they left! He's definitely a talented chef with a laid back vibe. There was just a small mix up on the final payment (we both forgot to subtract the initial deposit), but he corrected that immediately when I brought it to his attention. I learned about his 7-course option - definitely something I'll keep in mind if I'm make another visit back to Austin! read more

Chef Andre Molina and his assistant Andrew prepared a 5-course birthday dinner for my partner and our friends at the Airbnb we rented for our Austin visit. My partner has a fairly serious gluten allergy so the meal had to be 100% gluten free with no cross-contaminants. We were also joined by my partner's daughter, who at 7 has some hesitancy around trying new foods. I'm thrilled to say Chef Andre succeeded with flying colors on both fronts--and even more thrilled to say it was one of the best meals I've had. The crudo course was delicious (with succulent oysters and hiramasa with a strawberry ponzu to die for) and the roasted carrots with whipped chèvre were another standout. But the real showstopper was a meltingly tender wagyu short rib with a bean and hominy cassoulet that is impossible to adequately describe; and for dessert, a fantastic olive oil cake with citrus curd & Chantilly crème. An absolutely stunning meal from start to finish, plus their tunes were perfect to set the tone and they left the kitchen spotless. 10/10! Thank you Chef Andre!! read more

Let me start off by saying a huge thank you again to Chef Ryan and Michelle, Operations Director. I had no idea what to expect as I was planning a little surprise for my wife's birthday. Michelle was a pleasure to talk to and she was very responsive. I made the mistake of taking too long to confirm and book my event (as this was a short notice situation) and the Chef that Michelle set us up with had been booked with another party. I was told that he was the last Chef available, but Michelle gave me some hope and said she would continue to see what she could do. A little over an hour later Michelle informed me that the owner, Ryan would be the one to fill my request. Having a Chef cook dinner for my wife and I was a huge part of the night so I was extremely relieved that Michelle and Ryan were able to help out. Little did I know then how lucky I would be to have Ryan be a part of my wife's birthday evening. The place that we're staying (AirBnB) mentioned that it had a kitchen to "cook food". Well, when we showed up to the guesthouse (should've known) all we had was a couple of plates, a sink, and a microwave. Devastated, I called Ryan to inform him that we would have to cancel our dinner plans. However, Ryan did not let me back out that easily. He ask if we had a grill, which we did, and then proceeded to tell me "there's no way we're canceling this, I will need to do a little more prep work but I can make this work." I didn't know what he had in mind but I immediately knew we were in good hands. Ryan shows up with a smile on his face and excited to meet us. I almost felt the need to remind him that he was cooking a 4 course meal on an outdoor grill, however his confidence and easy going demeanor put me at ease. Ryan asked a few logistical questions then immediately got to work after that. Every single course was unique and different. Every item that was placed in front of us was thoroughly explained and tasted amazing! Not once did Ryan complain about the fact he was cooking all of this on a grill or that he was preparing every meal on the same plate and having to wash them himself in between meals. A true professional and also a really down to earth guy. Without hesitation, I would recommenced Gather & Forge, and Ryan. The entire night was extremely genuine and I could tell that Ryan just truly loves what he does, loves meeting new people and obviously loves new adventures. You will definitely get a truly amazing experience along with great food. This will become a more often dining experience for us now that we've met Gather & Forge. Highly recommended, there's no need to look any further, this is the one you're looking for. My final recommendation is that I urge you to scroll to the very bottom and look at the many 5 star reviews hidden for this company that are "not recommended" by Yelp. They truly deserve every 5 star review they've received and we can't wait to hire them again! read more

We enlisted the help of Gather & Forge this past Thanksgiving. Our chef, Jack, made what would normally be a stressful holiday (we had 20 guests in our home) an absolute delight. Every part of the process was handled efficiently and professionally and the dishes he prepared were AMAZING!! We were able to spend quality time with our friends and family and catch up with each other while Chef Jack made sure every detail was handled to perfection. We will absolutely call Gather & Forge next time we host guests in our home. read more

Chef Jack was amazing! He prepared a 3-course meal for our bachelorette party of 12 that was perfect for our last night.

This is an unprofessional excuse for a catering company. After booking an event 2+ months out, Gather & Forge canceled with only a week before our event. They clearly overbooked themselves, and decided to cancel on us for a bigger event. Unprofessional liars. I would give them zero stars if I could. read more

This company is first class! I called for a same day need (a funeral) but wanted something different for the family to enjoy. I didn't even think they would be able to accommodate something so last minute! I started working with Michelle who got me all set up with Chef Ryan. Let me tell you about someone that goes above and beyond. Our original delivery time ran behind and he waited for over an hour to make sure the family had simply the best. In the words of the recipient, "the gift was SO special and everyone in the family enjoyed it. The absolute best charcuterie board I have ever had." We will definitely come back to Gather and Forge in the future! Well done! read more

I found Gather and Forge on the Internet after reading many reviews on the internet. I live in New York but my daughter lives in Austin. She knew the restaurant that Chef Nick was an executive suex chef and saidd it was amazing. From start to finish I cannot praise chef Nick and this company enough. We gave chef Nick a challenge with many dietary restrictions. He was so professional so kind and not to mention adorable! This dinner party was for 8 people to celebrate a milestone birthday. Chef Nick, Chef Anthony & Chef Ryan well exceeded expectations. Our six course meal was prepared and served to 14 adults and teenagers. Everyone enjoyed a great experience, had fun and could not believe the depth of flavors, one after another. No question these guys are the best of the best, and deliver top food along with perfect service. Presentation of each course was well done by Chef Nick. We had wine pairings tailored to each meal. We were even treated to a late night piano recital well into the evening. If yelp allowed 10 stars, Gather & Forge would get (at least) 11... they were truly that good! read more
