We recently used Chef Mike at NOLA Kitchen for a private corporate event. From initial conversation to dinner execution Chef Mike was on point. I reached out to establish a menu, he made some helpful suggestions and was flexible around timing. Deposit paid. Prior to our engagement he confirmed times and menu items and asked about any changes, we had a minor reduction in headcount which was no problem. Day of Chef Mike arrived on time with all the required items to cook and the ingredients for his recipes. Truly, everyone had a blast! This was dinner for six at an AirBnB in Austin, he's done this type of thing quite a few times and can enter AirBnB's with a passcode to start preparing if you or your guests are running late. Very accommodating overall. As far as the food was concerned, YES! Amazing. Everything from the appetizers to salad to main and finally desert. The hero of my meal was the Crab Salad with Ragivote dressing and the Crawfish Etouffe, stellar food. He also gave a bit of a breakdown of Creole/Cajun history. I would 100% book Chef Mike again. I know our group was smaller than usual for him but he was super accommodation. I would recommend him for any corporate event catering or group private dining in the Austin area! read more

Chef Mike catered a Sunset Valley Cajun event for 120 people and the food was wonderful. Red beans and rice (v), boudin balls, chicken and shrimp jambalaya, and spinach and artichoke dip and chips all on the menu. Everyone enjoyed the evening and no one left hungry. I hired Chef Mike for Ladies weekend at the Lake for the Libation tour and Dinner. First of all, us 60+ YO fell in love with Mike. He is a hoot! Very personable, kind and entertaining. The libation tour was fun. PLUS, Mike told us about a great BBQ place that was near the winery where we order a togo and Mike picked it up and kept it warm in a cooler while we did the wine and distillery thing! Saturday night he came over to our house and cooked a fabulous 4 course meal. Oh my gosh, so worth it! We did the beef tenderloin, sensation salad, and bananas foster. THE BEST! Mike/NOLA Kitchen took us on an afternoon hill country/wine tour. The arrangements were easy, Mike was informative, honest and available for all of my questions. Lori actually drove the van/took us, picking us AP at the door of our rental. Lori is delightful: funny, knowledgeable, and a great driver (even in hail storms!!). Mike had prearranged for tastings, so we walked past the line and sat right down and had great service at each vineyard ("You're with NOLA Kitchen, right?"). And Mike/Lori recommended a fun/interesting distillery instead of a third vineyard which was 100% the right recommendation. As we headed back Lori recommended a BBQ place and dropped us off there so we could pick up take out . We had the privilege of having Mike come cook for 11 of us at a recent girls trip to Lake Travis. The food was excellent, everyone really enjoyed their dinners. I recently had Mike cater our office holiday party, 20 people. He met with me ahead of time to plan the menu, showed up to the party early enough so everything would be ready on time, and the food was fantastic! When dinner was over, he left the kitchen spotless. We had several appetizers, Cajun pasta, gumbo, a carving station with various spreads/sauces, and bananas foster for dessert, all served buffet style (as people were coming and going). For my best friend's bachelorette party, we stayed at the Loft House in Austin, TX and Mike came Friday night to cook a four-course meal for us. To start, the appetizers were amazing. Brie with fresh fruit and artichoke bottoms were a hit. We had a salad with delish fresh shrimp, a seafood gumbo, and bananas foster for dessert. Mike accommodated one of our guests with seafood allergies and made her an entirely separate gumbo. I recently had my corporate retreat at the UT Golf Club and I rented the Casitas for some of my guests. On the Monday night I was looking for something unique to do that did not require a lot of logistics. I remember Chef Mike from a wonderful dinner that I attended a couple years ago. So I tracked Chef Mike down and asked if he could cook for about 30 guests at one of the Casitas that I rented. He agreed and then we were off to the races. Chef Mike prepared excellent food, answered a lot of questions, entertained the group with his banana fosters and was very fair in his pricing. I would highly recommend Chef Mike for your private or corporate event. You will be in good hands and we plan on using him again next year. I had the opportunity to attend a private function catered by Nola Kitchen and it was in the top 10 meals I've ever eaten. There was crawfish etoufee, chicken and andouille gumbo, stuffed mushrooms, crab cakes, salad and Louisiana pralines. I'm not a seafood eater so I didn't try the crawfish etoufee or crab cakes, but they smelled fantastic. Of the items I was able to eat, they ranged between fantastic and unbelievable. Mike cooked a special meal for us meeting dietary restrictions for several members of our extended family, somewhat outside his normal fare (i.e. gluten-free lasagna instead of Cajun food).
