We see these smoke shops all over the Bay Area, and tbh many can be a bit scary or intimidating. Gateway Smoke Shop is the nicest smoke shop/head shop I've been to. I felt super comfortable and the owner felt like he really knew his merchandise. Came in looking for a bubbler/ash catcher and he had some of the brands I'd found online. Came here to buy a torch to sear salmon, since I couldn't find one anywhere else lol. And I didn't expect to find such a large selection of torches here! Although the surrounding area isn't the greatest, you can just park right in front of the store if you want to avoid it. The customer service here is amazing as well. Ali was so friendly, nice, and helpful!! I'll definitely be back for some other things - they have a lot of pieces, pipes, vapes, hookah sets, whip its, and so much more. The only smoke shop I use in the East Bay, dude goes above and beyond every single time and is beyond friendly. Has spent I don't even know how much time searching for a specific torch lighter for me on multiple occasions and despite the difficulty in finding them he keeps always keeps at it til he can get em in for me and then actually let's me know when they do get em in stock!! I went here for the first time about six months ago, when Better Cloud moved from Albany to Pinole. Better Cloud was awesome, but honestly, that's just too far a drive. I went to Gateway and asked if they carried any unflavored nic vape juice. They didn't at the time, but told me they would order some if I wanted it. I did want it, and they did order it, and they keep it in stock now. That's real customer service. read more

If you want a smoke shop where people know their stuff, this one ain't it. I asked for a 3DXL chamber for my peak through the phone and they said 120. Regular 3D chamber goes for 100 and the regular chamber is around 50. I walk in, ask for the 3DXL chamber, and the person doesn't know what I'm talking about, I look around the store and find it. He asked me which one, I pointed and said "the one that says '3DXL'". He grabbed the regular 3D chamber and it rang for 120. I was unaware that he grabbed the regular 3D one because he made sure I wanted the 3DXL chamber before grabbing it. I come home and notice it says 3D on it instead of 3DXL. I call them and tell them I didn't get the right one. Now of all a sudden, their regular chambers are 100, their 3D chambers are 120 and the 3DXL is 169.99. Please don't go to this place. I know those are false prices because I bought a regular 3d chamber when it barely came out and it was 100 both in smoke shops and in the puffco website. I didn't bother going back because he lied about the prices and I wasn't trying to deal with that after work. Go to Puff N Stuff instead of this deceiving place. read more

I actually spent $400 at some other smoke shop when I should have brought my business here to Gateway.. Biggest mistake ever! The idiot who runs a joke of a smoke shop not that far away, not only over charged me, but sold me fake ceramic and a down stem that broke two days later. When the (wannabe ceramic) broke, it burned my thigh so badly. When I stepped into Gateway Smoke Shop, Ali took care of me, even though it wasn't his sell. Even though he had to close early, so he could drive all the way to SF to be with his sick father, he still took the time to make sure I was satisfied .So if you are looking for more than fair prices, and customer service which is only surpassed by how gorgeous he is, go see my boy ALI AT GATEWAY!!!! You will never shop anywhere else when it comes to smoke shops. It's spotless, smells amazing, and he's a true gentleman with amazing people skills. I'll fight anyone who says different. read more

My new favorite vape shop- the two guys working were so nice and knew what they were talking about- I had been to like 3 other spots that were out of everything, and the guys at gateway smoke actually explained that there was a shortage of supplies. Plus they actually knew what their products were and were so nice and patient with me because I came in with parts from like two different vapes and they helped me figure out what I actually needed. Totally helpful, good prices, and friendly knowledgeable people working there. All the other places I went were overpriced, had no idea what their products were and were not helpful at all. Went here looking for a setup for our new hookah and the guys were super helpful, enthusiastic and absolutely reasonable to help us find what we need. The employee working was very accommodating and attentive to helping my boyfriend and I. We were checking out some dab rigs/bubblers. The very first thing I notice is that you CAN NOT beat these prices. Abdulla, the owner (sorry if I spelled it wrong) hooked it up for us. We got a very unique dab rig/bubbler for $80 flat, out the door. He even threw in a glass bowl and 2 glass bangers just for buying the rig. Their average sized pipes go for $15 and the fact that they are all beautifully made, it's rare to be able to find these smoking apparatus' for under $20-$25 anywhere else in the Bay Area. This place is a HIDDEN GEM. I do recommend this shop to people who want glass smoking gear. These folks will be happy to help you out! Looking forward to my next purchase from here! read more
