When there was about…read more1.5 hours left I contacted the property (along with general IHG customer care) because I noticed that my (2) double queen rooms had been updated and confirmed for (2) king rooms. Seeing as how we had 6 people and 2 elderly folks in our group, this was not going to work. -It took the remainder of the ride there which was in excess of 1.5 hours to gain no traction on getting back my double queen rooms. The stress and uncertainty of arriving in a town you've never been in with friends and family not knowing if you're going to have a place to stay is really a feeling I was not expecting to have when I confirmed my (2) double queen rooms when I booked. -I received zero communication or updates via the app, phone, email, etc for this MAJOR chance in my room reservation. All I had to go off of was email confirmation that noted that I had (2) double queen rooms. -When I arrived, half of my party came in with me and half stayed in the vehicle. When I approached the front desk, she explained to me that she was attempting to call people who had queen rooms to try and switch for me and that one had already confirmed a switch. So, at that point...I was "confirmed" for (1) Double Queen room and (1) King room. This was still impossible for me to do so I waited to make her other calls. In the meantime, I asked if they had another king room I could add and be comped to give me the 4 beds I needed. The other clerk scoffed and said no while citing that they were completely sold out. She had been rude the entire time so I tried not to speak with her. I explained that there was the ability to book a king room on the IHG site right then and there so there should be one available. She then explained to me that if I booked that non refundable room and paid for it, I would not have a room and I'd never see that money again. I decided to shut down and accept that I was not going to be treated fairly as a customer from that lady. After waiting for a while, we were notified that another person called back and was willing to switch us to the double queen room. SO, at this point after waiting around for over an hour on premises and trying to sort it out for over an hour on the ride to Bethlehem, we SUPPOSEDLY had what we ORIGINALLY booked months prior. -At this point there were alot of people in the lobby because we were not the only people having issues. The 2 front desk clerks were going back and forth with 2 of the cleaning staff during this time for another handful of minutes because they were saying all of the rooms were clean but the system wasn't showing it, etc etc. Eventually we got called back up and we were expecting to be checked in. HOWEVER, we were told that they actually had no double queen rooms at all and we were crap out of luck. -After this, I'm thoroughly embarrassed as the point man in my group. I have my name on this "guest of the day" board that is totally bullsh*t, and I'm being treated like an idiot. We have no place to stay but I have to keep my reservation because it's better than sleeping in our vehicle (which 2 of our elderly party members were doing at this point). I politely leave while asking them not to cancel my reservation. We proceed to drive around town for the next 2-3 hours in an attempt to find accommodations that will fit our group. After wasting gas, paying for parking at multiple spots, wasting time at multiple hotels BECAUSE hotels were booked. (hence why I booked my rooms so early)...we landed on a hotel that was able to accommodate us with 3 rooms at full, last minute, prices. I paid $500 more than I CONFIRMED AND BOOKED my candlewood rooms at but we had to do it, I had no other choice. -This ordeal started at 330 PM and I got booked into a room at 930 PM at a hotel I did not originally purchase because the Candlewood suites decided they didn't want to honor the reservation I book. It was a breach of contract, and I was not notified of any change. I was in contact with IHG customer service saying that IHG STRICTLY adheres to the terms of reservation and that I should contact you. I know what was being updated in the logs because that IHG person was telling me what was being put in my case number. The updates were false and I have record to prove that. In summary -I spent 6 hours of unplanned time trying to either RECTIFY my candlewood screw up that wasn't my fault, or running around town looking for a place for our party of 6 people to sleep. 2 of which were way too old to go through this crap. -I spent $500 extra of my money to book a different hotel that wasn't going to screw us over. This 500 does not include the gas and parking that I incurred looking for this. -We cancelled our dinner reservation because we prioritized our well being and where we were going to sleep. This was a $50 charge from the restaurant on the cancellation of last minute.

The things I LOOOVEd the most was our jetted tub didn't work Tori & maintenance got on it the same day I told them! She even called to make sure I was okay with it before he came into our room(we were out on the town) I LOOOVE their policy of Quiet time 11pm-7am! not even a radio was playing when we got in at 2am! (Doors are locked by 10pm). LOOOVEd that they are highly secured! You have to use a code and a card swipe when coming in and leaving even at the elevator doors I believe! . Your room as well!.. The Classic Room with the jetted tub& shower was a niiice touch! The Bed soooo super comfy!! we didn't want to get up!! We slept so comfortably and A/C you can control it was heavenly. The Housekeeping was great!! We just asked for Towels they changed your whole room!! . All your belongings are there from start to your exit!! I know ppl always read about stuff being taken or unruly staff/management YOU GET NONE OF THAT HERE!!! everything's cleaned!!, kept safe and peaceful . They don't serve breakfast but it's such a cute Shop on the ground floor to get whatever you want to eat! . Overall I'd definitely recommend GE to anyone looking for a peaceful pleasant getaway or just a solo business trip without being disturbed .

My parents and in-laws had lakeside cabins and the extra cost is well worth the breeze and more comfortable porch atmosphere, especially if you are spending all day on property vs going out and exploring.

My husband and I got married in the Poconos this past April and were looking for a place to host our rehearsal dinner. My family is Sri Lankan and it's sort of become a tradition in our family to host a traditional Sri Lankan dinner for the rehearsal dinner to introduce aspects of our culture and food to our non-Sri Lankan spouses' families. With that said, we needed to find a place that my mom and aunts could do a lot of cooking in, and could also host our guests for dinner. Our wedding was a destination wedding for everyone except for my husband and I, so we wanted all of our guests that would be in town on Friday evening to be able to attend our rehearsal dinner - which meant around 75-80 people. Matt's Lodge at Countryside was PERFECT for this. The kitchen wasn't huge, but it worked. There was a large bar that was great for prepping, and Matt was kind enough to cover up the shuffleboard table with plywood and tablecloths so we had a nice long buffet to set the food up on. Between the living room, the large dining table in it, the patio with ample seating, the game room, and the large yard with plenty of benches and swings, we were able to host our guests with ease and without anyone feeling too crowded. It was perfect for our casual rehearsal dinner. We ended up renting all of the cabins on site for our wedding weekend and they were a great bargain compared to some other cabins in the area. It was so wonderful having all of our family in one place. Matt was a great host. So accommodating, responsive and kind. The cabins are rustic - not a whole lot of frills, but they are clean, well-kempt, and had everything that you could need for a Pocono getaway. Thanks again, Matt! There's a curfew from 10pm-10am that is their quiet time. I love that. We loved the quiet! There's a nice in-ground pool and little baby pool. The pool is not heated! Haha. The cold felt nice. It's pretty well maintained. Check in with as pretty easy. Just had to give Matt a quick call. He came right up and helped us and answered any questions I had. We found our cabin easy. We had two neighbors, once on each side. Everyone was so nice and courteous. It was wonderful. We enjoyed the cabin and the pool. We could not locate a broom in our place so we couldn't clean everything up. Comes with toilet paper, silverware, cookware, drying rack, dish soap and a sponge. We thought paper towels too, but our cabin did not have any so we bought them. Matt gave us firewood, so kind. I bought fire starter from him to make our lives a little easier - we had a fireplace but didn't use it. We used the outdoor fire pit! Matt brought us a couple chairs. It was so nice. The porch swing is nice. There's also a picnic bench. You must bring your own towels (for bath and pool) and soaps for the shower. Windows were open for natural cooling. Our doors were squeaky so we WD-40 them lol. Problem solved. We would definitely come back and stay again. We love supporting family-owned businesses. This is definitely family-owned and operated. Love it!! Plus it's pet-friendly! Woo-hoo!

The owner, Mr. Patel, is a no nonsense operator, which keeps the place in good condition for the next guests. He lets you know up front he will not tolerate bad behavior and as a consequence my five day stay was far better than I ever expected. It is right across the highway from an excellent pizza and burger restaurant considered the best in the county for good reason and is close to a ShopRite store. We have the Hilton Honors app, so check-in was easy, picked our own room, and used the digital key feature on our phone. We got the Queen Suite, which has 2 queen beds, 1 couch, full size fridge, sink, and microwave. The room was spacious, beds seem fresh, and bathroom was clean! Bathroom came with full-size shampoo and conditioner bottles on the shower wall. The water pressure was strong, temperature was perfect- only thing is there was no fan in the bathroom. The stay offers free hot breakfast, which included waffles with various toppings, omelettes, oatmeal, cereal, bread, bagel, fruits, and of course coffee and juice varieties. The dining attendees seemed pleasant and hardworking. Breakfast was available from 6am to 10am on weekends, and 6am to 9am on weekdays. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast both days we stayed, although they didn't change out any items- both days (Sunday & Monday) offered same food items. The facility also has a small gym and inside pool. No outside pool but there was a big fire-pit that stayed lit out in front entrance patio area. The only complaint is that the room walls are pretty thin, so we heard our neighbors' conversations very clearly. Either walls were thin, or our neighbors spoke very loudly. Also heard running and stomping on the hallways throughout the stay. We did stay on the first floor, so maybe it was typical due to high traffic in the lobby area.
