On Friday November 6th, it takes us approximately 5 hours to reach Bethlehem. When there was about 1.5 hours left I contacted the property (along with general IHG customer care) because I noticed that my (2) double queen rooms had been updated and confirmed for (2) king rooms. Seeing as how we had 6 people and 2 elderly folks in our group, this was not going to work. -It took the remainder of the ride there which was in excess of 1.5 hours to gain no traction on getting back my double queen rooms. The stress and uncertainty of arriving in a town you've never been in with friends and family not knowing if you're going to have a place to stay is really a feeling I was not expecting to have when I confirmed my (2) double queen rooms when I booked. -I received zero communication or updates via the app, phone, email, etc for this MAJOR chance in my room reservation. All I had to go off of was email confirmation that noted that I had (2) double queen rooms. -When I arrived, half of my party came in with me and half stayed in the vehicle. When I approached the front desk, she explained to me that she was attempting to call people who had queen rooms to try and switch for me and that one had already confirmed a switch. So, at that point...I was "confirmed" for (1) Double Queen room and (1) King room. This was still impossible for me to do so I waited to make her other calls. In the meantime, I asked if they had another king room I could add and be comped to give me the 4 beds I needed. The other clerk scoffed and said no while citing that they were completely sold out. She had been rude the entire time so I tried not to speak with her. I explained that there was the ability to book a king room on the IHG site right then and there so there should be one available. She then explained to me that if I booked that non refundable room and paid for it, I would not have a room and I'd never see that money again. I decided to shut down and accept that I was not going to be treated fairly as a customer from that lady. After waiting for a while, we were notified that another person called back and was willing to switch us to the double queen room. SO, at this point after waiting around for over an hour on premises and trying to sort it out for over an hour on the ride to Bethlehem, we SUPPOSEDLY had what we ORIGINALLY booked months prior. -At this point there were alot of people in the lobby because we were not the only people having issues. The 2 front desk clerks were going back and forth with 2 of the cleaning staff during this time for another handful of minutes because they were saying all of the rooms were clean but the system wasn't showing it, etc etc. Eventually we got called back up and we were expecting to be checked in. HOWEVER, we were told that they actually had no double queen rooms at all and we were crap out of luck. -After this, I'm thoroughly embarrassed as the point man in my group. I have my name on this "guest of the day" board that is totally bullsh*t, and I'm being treated like an idiot. We have no place to stay but I have to keep my reservation because it's better than sleeping in our vehicle (which 2 of our elderly party members were doing at this point). I politely leave while asking them not to cancel my reservation. We proceed to drive around town for the next 2-3 hours in an attempt to find accommodations that will fit our group. After wasting gas, paying for parking at multiple spots, wasting time at multiple hotels BECAUSE hotels were booked. (hence why I booked my rooms so early)...we landed on a hotel that was able to accommodate us with 3 rooms at full, last minute, prices. I paid $500 more than I CONFIRMED AND BOOKED my candlewood rooms at but we had to do it, I had no other choice. -This ordeal started at 330 PM and I got booked into a room at 930 PM at a hotel I did not originally purchase because the Candlewood suites decided they didn't want to honor the reservation I book. It was a breach of contract, and I was not notified of any change. I was in contact with IHG customer service saying that IHG STRICTLY adheres to the terms of reservation and that I should contact you. I know what was being updated in the logs because that IHG person was telling me what was being put in my case number. The updates were false and I have record to prove that. In summary -I spent 6 hours of unplanned time trying to either RECTIFY my candlewood screw up that wasn't my fault, or running around town looking for a place for our party of 6 people to sleep. 2 of which were way too old to go through this crap. -I spent $500 extra of my money to book a different hotel that wasn't going to screw us over. This 500 does not include the gas and parking that I incurred looking for this. -We cancelled our dinner reservation because we prioritized our well being and where we were going to sleep. This was a $50 charge from the restaurant on the cancellation of last minute. read more

This is a nice hotel & they have nice amenities like big fridge, microwave & stove. There's a pool too. Friendly staff. This is a stones through to Wind Creek which is super convenient. It was weird to have the front of the property face the main street but the parking lot was in the back & you had to walk around & the path/sidewalk wasn't really an option. I noticed the nightstand lamp didn't work. When I made a wakeup call using their phone it called to wake me up at 11:30pm instead of 8:30am so I used the alarm clock. The light from the smoke detector was blinking which was weird. read more

A beautiful little hotel that was perfect for what we needed! Comfortable room, great workspace, loved the amenities, and a perfect location right near Wynd Creek. And at the price we paid, it was a steal. My ONLY gripe was that the alarm clock in the room, despite not showing a time and appearing to be off, went off at 6am and had to be unplugged. I can't really comment on my "stay" because I never had one. What I had was one of the most humiliating customer/guest experiences in my life. The long backstory is that I stayed at this hotel before and found it satisfactory. It was brand new, near the casino and met all my basic needs for a good price. So I booked again for a December holiday road trip... but erroneously booked the wrong night. Online I booked Wed, Dec 28.. instead of Dec 29. Whoopsie! When I attempted to check-in, I was told that there was 'no reservation.' When I looked at my confirmation email, I discovered that I was a day late, I was told that I was 'a no-show' and not entitled to a room, even though the previous night was non-filling. The Front Desk told me there were no rooms available and I was not entitled to any kind of 'credit' because of my 'no-show' status. Does anyone at this company train the staff about how to keep positive relationships? So when I left, I got a business card for the General Manager (Lisette Rosa) who I was told, would be in the next day, and the staff took all my info and promised me that she would call me. By 3PM the next day, there was no call-back, so I called her. I gave my name and described the situation and was placed on hold for 20 minutes. After that, I hung up, and called back. When I did, I asked her for her again and was told "she might be in a meeting"... so I again described the situation... was placed on hold again for another 210 minutes, and then Ms. Rosa finally answered. I took responsibility for being a bonehead and ask if there could be any kind of courtesies extended and she said 'absolutely not.' I said it was a non-filling night so no revenue was lost, and asked for 2/3's of my money to applied for some future stay.. even devising my own 'penalty,' which I thought was fair. Ms. Rosa didn't want to hear it, again, telling me that I was 100% to blame and entitled to nothing. I reminded her that she was the GM with wide discretionary powers to solve problems, and she replied, "the best I can offer you is 10% off I future stay!" I was flabbergasted... and told her, "no thanks!" Key take-aways: The staff at the Candlewood has no training to treat guests professionally, or have any finesse in conflict-resolution. Ms. Rosa the GM.. deserves to be fired in my opinion.. not just for the 30 minutes on hold... but for all the layers of disrespect I encountered in my (not-quite-a guest) customer journey. This is a new hotel in the area, so one would think they would want to keep folks happy. Not the case at all. If you stay, I hope you have a good experience. But if anything goes wrong.. don't expect to be treated professionally.. let alone as a valued customer! Jon P. read more

There seems to be a lack of communication between staff and management. I called several times for Lissete Rosa the "GM" and never got a call back. With the hotel being close to the casino it brought in a lot of sketchy people. read more

So, in March of this year I did an Administrative Review on this wants was a wonderful place to stay. As I have previously stated, we have stay at more then 400 hotels, now upwards of 525, throughout the United States. It actually sickens me to have to write what I am about to write... but lets just get to it. Arrived after making reservation at this hotel for close to the 40th time this year. We were given a special rate for a premium room (one bedroom of roughly 93 dollars) because my Wife has had multiple hospital appointment at St Lukes Hospital this year and we are dedicate guest. Went in and let the Clerk know that I had a reservation. She looked and said "you don't". I asked for the room and explained the rate that we generally receive. I was informed that people requesting a special rate are no longer permitted a PREMIUM room. I wonder why. After a phone call to the front desk manager who we got to know and who just gave us that rate a couple weeks ago with the GM's approval, I found out they would no longer honor it. So we turned around and went to the Staybridge Suites on Airport Road, which was "excellent". That's the story. I didn't go into specific's in this review like the Clerks attitude or the General Managers abrupt blow off on the phone. You will have to see for yourself. All I can say is that Adam "their Super GM" is gone and the great way to address guest has gone with him. We most certainly will not be going back to this hotel. You can see the fall in the sunset coming, we are getting out before it happens. read more

I absolutely have #NOTHING bad to say about this place!! The front desk clerk (I believe her name is Gabrielle), was such a nice, kind person. She continuously smiled, and performed her checkin duties, with A1 professionalism!! ...even while the phone was ringing off'da hook, she'd continue to keep her poise and professionalism, all while prioritizing, nevertheless, fulfilling her overall duties. And to put the icing on the cake... my room was all'dat, anna bagga CHIPS!! Lol!! Excuse my slang -- but that means: my room was Nice, Clean, Smelled Great ... and ALL OF THE ABOVE!! :) The parking, the outside view and the entire environment feels safe and peaceful. ...and this hotel is literally walking distance to the casino. I see some reviewers complained about the traffic activity... but it's really not that bad! I personally enjoyed looking out my window, seeing the movement of life. ...but, again, it's really not an issue. If for any reason you need it to be quiet as possible, then make a request to be placed at the rear-side of the building. There's no traffic at the rear-side. Annnnnyway, checkout was swift; and I was again greeted with a smile, by the front desk person, Alissa (hope I got her name correct. :) I travel all over the country, via my work; and I must say: I am very satisfied with my stay... and will be returning soon. What a disappointing experience! My family and I went to visit Bethlehem, PA for a weekend, and wanted to stay in a comfortable hotel in the area. I looked at the reviews of the hotels in the area, and Candlewood Suites seemed to have the better reviews. I realize those reviews must not have been real. Although I booked and paid for a room with 2 queen size beds, the hotel decided to change my reservation without telling me. They instead gave me one room with 1 king size bed... for four people. The man at the front desk told me it was my fault for booking the wrong room. Instead of trying to get us a cot, he ignored my request to get another room. The worst part is that instead of them trying to make up for their mistake, they blamed it on me, although my reservation clearly states I booked 2 queen size beds. I've contacted Candlewood Suites to look into this, and they have ignored me... again. Do yourself a favor: book a different hotel. read more

I tried to stay here with my service animal and was denied. My paperwork was in our moving van and I couldn't access my digital version. In a world where we need more compassion, I wished your business had been an example for me. Check in took way too long at 30 minutes, and I was given a key card that didn't work. The walls are thin and I heard a baby crying while trying to take a nap as well. It is close to casino but off a highway so you can't walk there. Hard PASS. read more

We were directed here by the Holiday Inn Express, which was booked. "You'll love it. It's brand new." It may have been new, but looked a bit shabby...runner by the side door twisted up and fraying, etc. The front desk employee couldn't recommend any restaurants other than the casino which was "over there." (We ended up in a factory complex.). We eventually found historic Bethlehem on our own, but it turned into a bit of a trek on a dark night. Next morning...no breakfast other than a store where one could purchase cereal, etc. and a broken "complimentary" coffee machine! This is an amenity we have come to expect in hotels, and it matters! No apology, no explanation other than "we're an extended stay hotel" and a sort of superior attitude. Sorry, but we've stayed at Residence Inns for years and they offer a great complimentary breakfast. And, did I mention, no coffee to send us on our way? Saving best for last, you earned a negative review when I had to take a wash cloth and clean the back of the toilet seat. YUCK! If I could see the brown stripe, housekeeping should have seen it also. First off, I'd like to say that the staff here are very nice and the negative part of my experience was not because of my interactions with them. My concerns come with the cleanliness of the room and some of the food safety conditions. Besides finding numerous hairs scattered throughout the room and a number of stains on the bedsheets and shower curtains, there were also dirty dishes in the dishwasher and dirt inside the fridge. The provided soap in the shower was empty and had obviously been used by a previous guest. Although the kitchen was stocked with a few pieces of cutlery and cookware, many of these pieces did not appear to have been washed between guests and still had food remnants. When I inquired about the whether there was any on-site food, the staff directed me to the convenience store in the lobby. While some of the food here was fine (such as the dry cereal), once returning to my room and trying to make my breakfast, I noticed that my toaster strudels had been opened and then resealed with scotch tape. There were also a number of very large yellow stains, resembling the color of mustard, on the bathroom counter. This indicates to me that the bathrooms are not thoroughly cleaned between guests and not only used as a restroom. Overall, a very disappointing experience. read more

I had an overall good stay at the Candlewood Suites. I am attending Lehigh University this upcoming fall, and we stayed at this hotel when I went to visit. It is very close to Lehigh University. We arrived early and had to wait to check in which is okay, we were early so I understand. Then we got to our room which was clean and modern. The hotels hallways are also clean and modern. The parking lot around the hotel has a nice amount of parking as well. The main issue that we had was that one of us was showering in the morning and went to was their hair. The bathroom had no shampoo in the pump dispenser. Called house keeping multiple times. Eventually one of us went down to the desk, and their was only one employee working in the entire hotel at that time. So the employee had to come to our room and go into the bathroom. This meant she had to get out the shower. Overall it was just inconvenient when we were rushing to get ready. read more

I just spent one night at The Candlewood Suites on Spillman drive in Bethlehem, PA, but I would totally have stayed longer. The room was a good size, had a full kitchen and utensils. Bed was very comfortable. There was plenty of desk space. The staff was helpful and polite. Good water pressure in the bathroom. I like that they have the refillable dispensers for soap/shampoo instead of the wasteful single use stuff. Did I mention they were dog friendly and had plenty of room to walk around nearby. read more

if i could give this place more stars i would. very friendly staff for starters, they let me and my wife check out a little bit later then usual. all of the rooms are new and have fully equipped kitchens provided with everything you need to cook a nice meal. our room was extremely clean and we were stocked with lots of extra tissues, toilet trees, and paper towels. in the bathroom i was surprised to find that we were given FULL size shampoo, conditioner, and body wash that was all cruelty free! there was lots of office space as well in case you are on business and need to do work. beds are super comfy. my only tiny complaint was that we had to re wash the pots before using them because there was still some food stuck to them from the last guest. but overall me and my wife were fully satisfied and will definitely be coming back to stay! read more
