We had an excellent tea at the SAYRE Mansion today. The food was delicious and service impeccable. Beautiful setting. Highly recommend!

My wife and I spent a night in Bethlehem at Sayre to enjoy the Christmas market and see my best friend's band that evening. He was supposed to stay with us as well. Thankfully for him, he did not. We stayed in a three person room on the top floor (stairs were not fun). They had one of those ductless heating systems since I imagine the heating elements on the floor could not keep up. When we turned it on, every time the heating began, it sounded like a spaceship was landing in our room. The noise was so bad we inquired, and they said "it's always been that way" and "I wouldn't be able to sleep with that noise." Surprise, neither could I! I also learned there is a heating issue in another room on the 1st floor. They have known about these issues. None of them have been fixed. The single bed for the third person may fit a medium size child. My friend would have been falling off. Whoever did the online pictures did very well because it's not nearly as nice in person. Let's move onto the bathroom. The toilet is wedged up against the wall along with the heating element and the TP holder. You cannot sit on the toilet unless you sit sideways without having to jam your leg into the TP holder. The room is so very poorly designed and put together. The main room downstairs is painted well and looks nice. Our room looks like a beginner class did the paint and drywall, and the owner said oh well, good enough. I hope you are on the shorter side because if you are 6ft or taller, good luck taking a shower. Now lets talk about the towels. These towels were so cheap and small, I don't think the local dollar store would sell them. I am not sure where you could even find linens of such low quality. Morning mercifully came and people raved about the breakfast. I have to say, it was just ok. There were three choices: bacon and eggs, oatmeal and a French toast bake which was just basically a warm pastry. The food was just ok. The bacon was horribly undercooked and cheap. There was only one coffee dispenser and quite the line to get some. The snacks which are allegedly available all day were gone when we arrived back that night. When I went to check out and voice my concerns, there was a sign that basically said leave your key and get out. I sent an email to them asking to discuss my issues. Shocker, no one has replied. For almost $400, please stay elsewhere. Although not their fault, there is also loud traffic outside the building all night long. It's right next to major road/highway. read more

We had a room on the second floor. The room was great, comfortable bed, tastefully decorated. Everything was clean. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was excellent with a menu to choose from as well as a sideboard full of fruits, yogurt with granola and honey, pastries, muffins, and cheese. They offered orange and cranberry juice as well as coffee and milk. It was a very enjoyable stay. read more

Came here for my girlfriend's 40th birthday party. She had gotten us the entire "cottage" behind the mansion. This was in itself a mini mansion. There are 4 suites that we had to ourselves and we had the best time. Very accommodating and had everything we needed! It was the best time! Can't wait to come back again. A friend and I stayed here for 2 nights over the 4th of July. We were glad we did. We had a great view of the fireworks as it is up on a hill and we were able to put chairs from the porch on to the lawn to comfortably watch them. It was a bit tricky to find the driveway to drive up to the place but we were able to stop in front to check in and unload luggage. The parking lot was on the side of the place. The biggest downside of staying there was that there is no elevator and it was tough to get luggage upstairs even with some assistance from the manager who helped hold the suitcase. Once that was past, everything else went well. The room was nice with two comfortable beds, a TV and a wardrobe that had an iron and ironing board in it and hangars. The bathroom was a bit small with little counter space but there was a table and chair which worked okay. Breakfast was nice as there were many things around the dining room to choose from such as fruit, breads, and yogurt as well as a menu of three options for a cooked breakfast. The breakfast was very good. I had omelets both days and my friend had a waffle or French toast. Coffee and hot water were available in the hallway all the time which was also nice. There is a nice porch with tables and chairs. It's a pleasant place to stay. I'd stay again. read more

We've been trying to get to tea at Sayre Mansion for ages. Unfortunately they only offer it on Thursday afternoons, so it's very difficult for those people with full-time jobs. We were finally able to stop by last week and so glad we did! Definitely call plenty of time in advance, as their tea reservations fill up quickly. This tea was amazing. Every detail was perfectly thought out. I love the complimentary glass of champagne that was included. All the sandwiches, scones, and sweets offers were delightful! The 2 servers could not have been any more friendly. The service was absolutely wonderful. We love going to tea but it's even more fun when it's in a historic location. Towards the end, the manager of the inn came out and did a 10 minute introduction about the interesting history of the property, complete with pictures, which we really enjoyed. Everything about this experience was perfect. I look forward to coming back next summer when I'm off! read more

We had our wedding at Sayre Mansion on 12/11/21 and everything was perfect. The staff was incredible, friendly, so easy to work with, and supported us every step of the way. The mansion was charming and beautiful with so much character. I can't even describe how amazing the food/service was especially for "The Founder's Dinner" which was a 7 course experience for 12 that was spectacular! Not worth the price anymore. We stayed there for a bunch of years in the summer. It was quirky but fun. We walked past the buckets catching the rainwater falling through the roof, but enjoyed the cool shady location overlooking Bethlehem. Shade is gone given the development next door. They don't seem to have planted any screening from the folks overlooking the parking lot and events tent. They added a pet fee they never had before which wasn't told to me when I registered for a pet friendly room this year. During check in and check out the staff was surely and it seemed like anything I said was not worth their time. When I complained to management after we left , they basically said suck it up. We will never be back to the Sayre Mansion. read more

UPDATE: After many emails and phone calls the GM did graciously refund my money. Thanks!! I am sure this is a very nice place to stay, however I did not get the opportunity nor would I ever in the future. I reserved a non- refundable room in order to save $50. But I booked it on the wrong day. I did Saturday, but needed Friday. I called immediately to let them know, but they were completely booked on Friday and refuse to give my money back. So now I am out $240. So much for my $50 savings. From a business point of view this is completely unethical. My plans were not changed I just did a stupid thing and made a mistake on the calendar. We were to be passing through Bethlehem on a Friday. This has put a bad taste in my mouth for the entire city and I have no desire to stop there. read more

Stone's throw from Lehigh University. Main street undergoing needed renovations which will only enhance this location. The breakfast is delicious with lots of options. All day tea/coffee station. From the first minute we arrived at the doorstep of the Sayer Mansion, We knew something was not right. The front door was locked nobody was answering the phone, fortunately somebody came by the door her name was Sarah. She did not open the doors or is even though we told her that we had called to get an early check-in because we had a wedding to go to at 3 o'clock. I spoke to Sherry and Mindy and they both confirmed that we will be able to do this. Her response to us was we don't have check in until 3 o'clock the rooms are not ready and walked away While we waited outside in 90° heat. She didn't even open the front door to let us wait in the cooler inside. A while later she came back and let us in she said one room is ready the other one was not we proceeded to check in and go up to the one room so we could change for the wedding. The air conditioning was not working it must've been 100° in the room as we change for the wedding and sweated unbelievably. We finally got a fan but that didn't help. We left for the wedding and came back before the reception to see if the air-conditioning was working it was not. This was about 4:30, the other room was ready but the directions my daughter got to go to the other room were insufficient for her to find it. We moved to another room which was half the size and only one queen bed when we requested two queens We found the room to be dirty ( the carpet especially ) the bathroom had mold and the sheets were full of hair. When we woke up the next morning there was a bug in the bed don't know what kind. We made them aware of it. I will Enclosed some pictures of what I saw in the room and you can make your own decision if you want to stay at this place. I don't like to post negative reviews it's the last thing I want to ever do. This stay was incredibly uncomfortable and unfortunate. Sherry and Mindy were very helpful as with Josh. We weren't intending to write this review. We called the front desk to voice our concerns about our experience and asked the manager to call us back. We wanted to give some honest feedback privately rather than using social media. They never bothered to call us back. So, I guess our feedback goes here. We booked the conservatory for a quick overnight trip. Just one night. We called and said we were running a tad late for check in. They said "no problem" and we arrived at our adjusted time. As instructed, we called the front desk as the outside door was locked. No one was around. We called and called and left voice mails, and called . . . Well, suffice to say, 20 min later we finally got someone and were able to check in. Not that big of a deal but I think they could have a smoother experience or just carry a cell phone if you are working the desk. Then there was the room. To be frank, we were really disappointed at the cleanliness. The room was just generally dirty. Sheets were clean and the bed was comfortable but there was dirt on the carpet and cobwebs all over the ceiling. When you book a room that is covered in glass, you do so for the night sky and morning sunshine. Staring up at cobwebs was a tad disappointing. There was also a stain on the bedside table that looked as if the previous guest had a glass or a plastic bottle that leaked and there was residue remaining. Top that off with hair in the shower and we just came away feeling underwhelmed. I love the proximity, love the history, the breakfast was good, and the staff was very nice. But I just couldn't shake that feeling that after we spent what we did for a one night stay, the room should have been cleaner. read more

I will never be visiting this hotel ever again. The manager Sara Trimmer was extremely unprofessional when I voiced a concern about something I witnessed during my stay. Instead of doing her job and manage the situation, she tried to gaslight me into thinking it happened differently and wanted to take no accountability for what really hurt my family during this stay. I can't do half stars - but I want to give this 4.5 stars. I have nothing but praise for the mansion itself. We are not from the area and came down to spend Thanksgiving with family and wanted a more intimate place to stay. The hotel is comfortable, with cozy intimate rooms. There is a great parlor downstairs, good coffee, and a great breakfast each morning. My only reason for taking a half a star off, and my tip for those that are considering the property is that I was not from the area so was rather surprised to see the property sandwiched in the middle of a pretty active city and at the corner of a busy intersection. I expected an estate with more property and a little more remote. This is probably my own mistake, but my tip is this: Look/ask about your room layout if possible, as the rooms that face Wyandotte Street have really loud traffic noise all night. Wyandotte is a straight shot onto a highway, so people decide to act like they're drag racing and the exhaust noise is really loud. PA must not have a noise ordinance for car exhaust/mufflers. I still slept fine on the comfortable bed, but it woke me up a few times as I'm a light sleeper. Other rooms at other parts of the property probably do not experience this. Clearly this is no fault of the actual hotel, just the set up and the folks that are trying out for the next Fast and Furious movie. On the other hand - Bethlehem was a huge surprise because it was decked out for the holidays and absolutely charming. There were tons of great restaurants right nearby. So being closer to a city was an unexpected boon in that regard. I would stay here again (would try to get the conservatory room) and would recommend it to anyone. It's a great place. read more

We had a private wedding here and we stayed in the observatory room. What a beautiful experience. We had a private ceremony in the living room and beautiful pictures taken on the property and around Bethlehem. We returned to a private catered dinner that was excellent! The observatory was a unique experience. To fall asleep staring at the moon and stars then awakening to the sunrise was awesome. We were served breakfast in bed. Overall, it was perfect for us and our private ceremony. We loved the staff and the service we received and we can't forget the French Bulldog that greeted us! We loved him too! read more

Let me preface my review with the fact that I'm NOT a bed & breakfast type person. This was more of a 3 1/2 stars experience and I was torn between giving it 3 or 4 stars... The Sayre Mansion when you first drive up is a little tricky to get into as the GPS sends you on the road near the bridge but you can't enter the grounds from that direction. There is a winding road which if you're not careful in the evening you could veer off the road as the awning sticks out pretty far into the road. There is ample parking on the side of the Mansion. Upon entering the Sayre Mansion, to the right is the great room and to the left is the reception/ check in area. To our surprise, the house manager has a dog that roams freely. If you're a dog person then great! As he is very friendly. However, if you are allergic to dogs then this is definitely not the place for you. There are a lot of nice touches to the Sayre Mansion, but the surrounding community is rather questionable/ not a lot of places to hang out at within walking distance. Now back to the B&B.... I booked a winery package and they did have our wine and cheese in our room upon our return from checking out the nearby winery, then dinner. Since we came back kind of late, the cheese sat out for sometime and was sweaty.... So we didn't get to enjoy it. Not to mention there was no refrigerator to store what could've been salvaged. The room was nice and the bed was super comfortable. I loved the products they had in the bathroom. In the morning, there was homemade breakfast, with fruits, pastries, pancakes, boiled eggs, and good coffee. So I bet you're wondering, why the 3 stars review... Well I learned during this trip that good help is very hard to find in the Lehigh Valley. So much so that I learned about all of the things behind the Emerald Curtains. How the staff were performing or yet, NOT performing. How they cared for the premises/ worked around the care. Somethings are better left unsaid..... What also did it for me was the house dog barfing up his entire stomach contents in the dining room during breakfast because he couldn't swallow his pill! There are somethings that can be immediately fixed at this location and somethings that are just specific to this region based on the community at large... They really should consider outsourcing the help like they do in seasonal towns like Fire Island, Martha's Vineyard and Lake George. This would provide for more quality help and improve the service delivery of the staff. So the likelihood of me returning is not that likely.... read more

It turns out that the room we stayed in was featured on ghost hunters as a "high event room" so after investigating from 7pm-2am my wife and I still had a hard time falling asleep- lol. Do NOT stay here! Heater didn't work once, A/C the next time, carpets not vacuumed, leaking showers, etc. Last stay was $259 for the night, they say they'll take an extra $100 for security, then they charge my card $536 and it's on hold for days! And they have no explanation as to they did this! Sarah Trimmer, the "innkeeper" is rude and obnoxious too and the front desk guy is really strange and awkward. I stayed for two nights. Was visiting by myself from out of state for a funeral. I booked one of the rooms on the third floor. My connecting flight was seriously delayed and arrival to the hotel was going to be well after midnight. I informed reservations through email and they responded quickly. Upon arrival I was greeted, checked in and shown to my room by a friendly and professional employee. The temperature was in the 80s and the air conditioning was not working. I had to call down to the front desk and the employee returned and tried to help with the AC. Unable to resolve it I was moved to a similar room down the hall. Both rooms were charming and had plenty of architectural details to admire. The guest room and bathroom were very clean. Bed was comfortable. Good linens and towels. One morning I had breakfast in the dining room. It was served fresh, hot and delicious. The second morning I grabbed a coffee to go. read more

I just spent a few days at The Sayre Mansion and I have to say it was absolutely beautiful! The staff was very nice and my room was SO comfortable I loved everything about it (especially the towels & linens) - and their breakfast was probably my favorite part of it all - I especially enjoyed being able to have my coffee on the terrace every morning!! I loved every bit of my stay - thank you for the wonderful hospitality and excellent service!! I look forward to staying there again someday. And... my last night there, I learned that they made freshly baked cookies that were stored in a jar in their living room - so I took one to my room as a late night treat - it was delicious!!!! read more

This is my first bed and breakfast and it was a pretty cool experience. When you get here you check-in with the head of the house and get an actual key. The mansion is absolutely beautiful. The room I got was on the first floor and it had its own patio with chairs and a table which was a nice touch. The next morning I woke up and got my complimentary breakfast which I found out changes everyday and is freshly cooked by the chef. They had pecan waffles a feta, spinach omelette. I thought what the heck I'll get both. The breakfast was amazing and easily worth $30 for all I ate. Stayed here overnight for an anniversary, in the sumptuously decorated room 21. Enjoyed a good homemade breakfast, particularly the quiche Lorraine. Wish there was a pot of coffee as opposed to just a cup, and real cream instead of creamer, but it was still a good cup of coffee. Comfy firm bed. Pleasant 30 minute walk to Main St for dinner. Would stay here again. Particularly liked the contact-free check in and check out. read more

My husband and I booked an overnight stay at The Sayre Mansion Inn for a birthday getaway. I can't say enough great things about it! The waiting area was clean and beautifully decorated as soon as you walked in! At check-in we were upgraded to Room 21 as a complete surprise and were blown away at how beautiful and comfortable our room was. Beautiful lighting flowed in through the windows on the right side of our room and the ornate ceiling looked even more beautiful in person. We went to The Bookstore Speakeasy for dinner which we highly recommend you check out during your stay! Our breakfast the next morning in the dining room was delicious! We had four different options for a hot breakfast as well as muffins, fruit and other assorted treats! Staff was friendly and helpful as well. Really big variation in the rooms--I have stayed her before and my previous room was much nicer than my current room. In addition, the coffee maker in my room was broken. Also housekeeping is no longer providing fresh towels and making the bed. (Apparently, it is my fault for not seeing this on the sheet at check in, but quite frankly, these strike me as very basic hotel services and they were not pointed out at check in. There is also no information sheet in the room, or phone for calling the front desk. (Cleaning is apparently available on request, but when I requested before 11am, I was told that I could not get those services today.) Despite not providing basic housekeeping, they do have an envelope in the room for a housekeeper's tip. I am happy to tip and tip well, but if you are only cleaning the room when I leave, that is not a service you are providing me--that is the basic cleaning of the room for the next person. In addition, the event I was at was supposed to be a vegetarian lunch with a fish option--it was only a vegetarian lunch if you are happy with a salad and rice. read more

They refused to return my hefty deposit or honor the promise made for a comp room. No regard for fairness, or for the five years of family loyalty we had with them. My brother had his wedding here so it was our headquarters for the weekend of the wedding. I felt like I was visiting an old aunt with a country house who only wants to please you . I was blown away by the amazing service the staff offered. The ceremony and reception were both at the mansion. Ceremony outside on the back lawn (freezing in November!) with cocktail hour inside the mansion and reception outside in the heated tent. It was not the typical ballroom feel many weddings have and felt like a great intimate party with 100 of our closest friends. The staff and caterers were amazing. The bride wanted a lambchop while taking pictures so they made the couple sampling plates from the cocktail hour and brought it to her, later during the ceremony my grandmother wanted a cup of tea and they brought a full setup out to her table. The manager of the mansion was on hand from 11am when we began getting ready until after midnight when things were winding down. Many of the out of town guests stayed over and the party continued the next morning at brunch. The convience of Comfort Suites across the street and additional rooms in the building behind the mansion assured plenty of room. read more

This place was great! I got a special for here in Living Social, and was quite pleased. Cozy/very clean rooms, walking distance to great restaurants, and minutes away (by car) to Sands Casino if that is your thing. The breakfast was fantastic! My boyfriend had the granola pancakes that I tried, and still thought about days later. My eggs were great as well. The staff was very pleasant, and could not have been more accomodating! Thw wine and cheese platter was a nice touch to end an evening. Not sure if that is done all the time, or just with the special. Highly recommend! read more

A touch of history and a pleasant stay with some modern necessities. Fast wireless internet, flat screen cable TVs, refrigerator, coffee in the room, bottled water dispenser. Loved the semi-formal breakfast and room décor. Their entrance is actually on 3rd street not on Wyandotte. Important since you cannot make a left onto 3rd from Wyandotte. So that takes you over a bridge with no chance of a turn around and it will take 10-minutes to get back to 3rd. Program your GPS accordingly. Visited the Easton State Theater, Bethlehem Steel and ate at Bolete. read more

From the moment we stepped in and walked out- the experience was very pleasant. I've only been to two other B&Bs and both were okay experiences. But, we HIGHLY encourage any skeptics of non-B&B goers to try this one out. Even my VERY picky husband couldn't pick out anything he didn't like. The room we got was also a VERY good deal and for what we paid for, we got very lucky! We had one of the best rooms (granted, I didn't see all the rest), but the amenities were top-notch and seemed organic, the beds and comforter were amazingly comfortable and breakfast was very nice as well (I would have liked more vegetarian options, the sides offered are sausage or bacon, it could have been potatoes or sausage?). The bathrooms were clean, had wood-flooring and the shower head was divine!! The bath robes were a great touch and very nice! The ceilings were beautiful in this room, as well as all the furniture. If there was more to do in Bethlehem we would have stayed for 2-3 nights. Also, it was beautiful around christmas time (since it is in the town of Bethlehem)-- and we loved it! The cleaning staff were all smiles as well. The only thing was that the lights were not on outside as the photos around different websites show. Stayed there while on a college tour to visit Lehigh. Conveniently located walking distance to historic downtown Bethlehem and to Lehigh U. The room and bathroom was very comfortable, with air conditioning, which was key since that day it was 90 degrees. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. Growing up I had always driven by the Sayre Mansion and saw people getting married in the backyard - I never expected that I would someday be married there too! So when the time came for me to choose a wedding venue in Central PA (I now live in Northern CA) I instantly thought of the Sayre for it's beautiful grounds and convenient location! Even though I looked at quite a few other places (just to be fair) my fiancee and I agreed that the Mansion had everything we were looking for. The rooms are beautiful - we stayed in the Carriage House, all 3 suites are beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable (the beds are the absolute best - and we've stayed in many 5 star accommodations) and include just about anything and everything you could possibly want in a suite (including a hot/cold water dispenser - loved that!). As for the wedding part of things, everything went off without a hitch!! Things were very well organized and the wedding itself was beautiful...the grounds looked perfect! Carrie, the innkeeper, was very accommodating and make sure all of our special requests were taken care of. Overall, the wedding was perfect and I will definitely be making excuses to go stay at the Mansion again even though I have perfectly good places to sleep elsewhere in Bethlehem :) read more
