The Parsonage current owners, Michael and Jeffrey, their artwork/B&B stay with 3 course breakfasts will be moving across from Mauch Chunk Opera House and planned to be called The Dolson House. Both Michael and Jeffrey are impeccable in style, hosting and there is absolutely nothing left that they had left short at their stay. They were simply amazing, knowledgeable about the community and true travelers full of history and class. The room we stayed in was called 'John's Room.' It had a very nice display of antique and landscape artwork fit for a couple who are first time visiting. There was a well lit closet for 2 luggage, a king/queen bed, 2 chairs and a dresser. It was small, but I found it to be cozy. No tv but great WiFi. Our bathroom had the standard amenities and had its own heater. There was a hairdryer, makeup towels/remover wipes, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, towels, and all a person would except in a bathroom. I cannot even begin to explain the breakfast service. It goes beyond 5 star. I will simply say that the photos in my review is what the current owners present. During the October fall foliage prime is when my stay was. The town becomes flooded with people on Saturday and Sunday (weather pending). It is highly suggested that if this is your stay duration time that you book in time before there is no vacancy. It also is suggested you speak with the owners so that they can help you navigate with tips to avoid headaches with the parking, the scenic train and any other things that may involve the crowds. This B&B is not kid-friendly because of all the delicate statues and knick nacs. There is dog on site but we saw it once, not even in the common areas. read more

Words will surely fail me as I attempt to convey just how amazing our time at The Parsonage has been. I'll try... Jeffri and Michael have created such a spectacular home. We could have just stayed there and experienced the splendor of their collections, relaxed in the warmth and comfort of their home, and savored the exquisite, delectable breakfasts. Alas, we did venture out to see Jim Thorpe (a.k.a. Mauch Chunk) and the nearby historic sites. Micheal provided some great suggestions, and added such depth and flavor to the experience with his knowledge of the history of the area. We truly look forward to visiting again, and staying with them in their new endeavor at Dolon House (5 West Broadway); a grand and historic home they are now renovating. It will be fascinating to see the collections and appointments from The Parsonage in this incredible and historic home. Jeffri and Michael, thank you so much for a wonderful experience! read more

The Parsonage B&B - Bed & Breakfast Near Me - Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania

Location: Good place to be in Jim Thorpe. On the mail road (Broadway) but not in the middle of everything. But that's OK because everything is so close in this little town. The house used to be Reverend Webster's house in the 1800s, so has some history for people who like that. Owner: Maureen is very nice and helpful. Take her advice seriously because she really knows about Jim Thorpe and its surroundings/what to do (such as driving directions, what to do advice, tips on hiking, that kind of thing). Room: forgot the name of the room we stayed in, but it was right under the flat part of the building. The room was a bit smaller than the other rooms, but sufficient. The bed was very comfy, but it had those corner poles (like an old-school bed) that moved a lot and was wobby. Bathroom was very clean, good temperature of the water, adequate clean towels. The lighting was poor in the bathroom, it was very subdued and pale yellow, and whenever I dropped something on the floor it was very hard to see. Good shampoo + soap. The TV in the room is super tiny, maybe 15"?? And old school. I did not actually use the TV at all. House itself: Free coffee/tea/water/soda was a plus. Can use a mini-fridge, which was nice. There is also (usually) cookies available in the dining area. There is also port wine, which I did not actually drink so cannot comment on that. Parking: very convenient, about 1.5 blocks away from the house on the other side of the road, there are 3 designated spots for the house. No need to parallel park or fight for street spots, which I viewed as a plus. Breakfast: very good and plentiful. Tea/coffee, orange juice, some sort of cake (tried her coffee cake and some berry cake, both homemade and very good), followed by eggs+toast+some sort of main item. It was all homemade (even the toast) and was VERY tasty. Overall a great B&B with a helpful host/owner, clean rooms and house, and convenient location. If returning to Jim Thorpe I will definitely stay there again, but perhaps in a different room that is a bit bigger without poles on the bed. read more

The Parsonage B&B - B&B on W Broadway - Bed & Breakfast Near Me - Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania

We reserved the Switchback Room, not knowing that it is partially underground. As you can see from the pics I uploaded, there is no acceptable secondary form of egress from that room. The window is way too small and even if one managed to get out, there are bars on the outside. I agree with the former reviewer -the room does smell. The ceilings are also too low. Both the low ceiling and the lack of a sufficient window are definite code violations. Because of the low ceiling, the bathroom mirror was hung at a height that I required me to squat in order to use it (I am 5'8"). I was definitely a nervous wreck knowing that if there was a fire, we may not get out. The linens were a little beat up. The room was clean, though. I noticed afterwards that Maureen posted that there is WiFi but we were never offered a password. There is no cell service in the Switchback room -not surprising since it is like a cave. The location is great, Maureen was helpful with local activities, and the breakfast was excellent. We did not see any of the other rooms but If you decide to book here, do not stay in the Switchback room. read more

Wow! My breath was taken away the moment we arrived at this beautiful historic town. As we approached the Parsonage I became immediately delighted with the history and beautiful facade. Once we were greeted our experience only got better. I too am an avid fan of history of all walks of life and this place will not disappoint! Behind every turn was another great piece of history, wether it be Americana, Asian artifacts or Native American, just simply breathtaking. When I look at artifacts I connect with the history so this place kept my mind on the move! I am writing this review in the beautiful gazebo over looking Broadway with great anticipation for our Breakfast! Thank you Michael and Jeffri for an amazing time and we will be sure to tell all of our friends! Can't wait to come back! read more

Stopped in Jim Thorpe for the night on our way home and stayed at The Parsonage. My wife found this B and B and I'm so glad she did. Our hosts, Michael and Jeffri, were nothing short of amazing. Whether it was dining recommendations or local sites to visit, they were more than happy to help. We stayed in The Eleanor Room. Very cool art and Knick knacks everywhere. Loved it. And the breakfast!!!!! Blown away pretty much covers it!!!! It was spectacular!!!!! They made us all feel very comfortable and we had a lovely conversation over breakfast with everyone that had spent the night. We will be going back to The Parsonage!!!! read more

A perfect place to stay for a weekend! They offered the best breakfast in town! Micheal were absolutely nice and friendly. The bed was comfortable, and the room was very clean. The entire house was like a gallery. We enjoyed our time there, and we will definitely visit here again. read more

I stayed here in August 2018 during a last minute getaway. We absolutely loved the place. The decor is a great mix of historical/antique and modern/contemporary. Our room - Eleanor's room - was very clean and comfy. The breakfast was unbelievable and we ate every bite. Michael's knowledge of the local history was really great, and he shared some helpful tips for what to see in and around Jim Thorpe. He even got us a room for our second night in Jim Thorpe (we would have stayed at the Parsonage, but they were booked) at another great B&B. We look forward to going back again soon! read more

This was the first time in many years that my husband and I got a night away without the kids. We loved every minute of our stay at the Parsonage - Jeffri greeted us and was very warm, friendly, and immediately helpful with recommendations to help us enjoy our brief time in the area. He had wonderful recommendations about things to do that fit our requests (we wanted to hike, enjoy great food, and relax). He recommended many hikes and a nearby winery! The room was perfect and though the inn was full, it felt as though we had the whole home to ourselves. In the morning, breakfast was delicious. We asked many questions and Jeffri was able to dazzle us with knowledge on all subjects. He had fascinating information about Jim Thorpe and many other topics. We discussed local lore, wines, many other travel destinations, food, and more. The location cannot be beat. You can easily walk to hiking trails and to all the shops and restaurants in town. We hope to return again and again. read more

This is an amazing B&B. The suite was very spacious and there were some amazing shortbread cookies and biscotti for our arrival. The breakfast is to die for. The owners leave no stone unturned and provide an amazing experience. read more

Let me start my review by stating that some of the previous reviews are from the previous owner, as Michael and Jeffri have only owned the property since May, 2016. The bedrooms were very clean and comfortable. The whole home serves as an art gallery of wonderful collections of art and antiques. There is so much to look at, you could spend an entire day wandering around and viewing the beauty that is to behold. The rooms are equipped with every amenity that could be desired. There are snacks, beverages, and a refrigerator on hand in a common room for guests to enjoy. There are two outdoor common areas to gather and relax, including the front second floor porch overlooking the street and the upper level gazebo in the rear of the properties' garden. There is also a common living room, connected to the dining room, which is great for relaxing as well. The breakfasts are phenomenal! All served on beautiful china, glassware, and silverware. The selections are unique and healthy and prepared with utmost originality. I plan to come back again and recommend this delightful property to my friends and family as well. read more

simple,NOT OVERDONE, But elegant and very comfortable. As the owner phrased it "You can feel comfortable putting your legs up and not worrying if you break a glass" The rooms were very distinctive, each in it's own way. The homemade cookies that are kept under glass for snacks, and the port wine always available for a late night sip or two. There were small TV's in each room, and my only criticism is "get them out!!" The ambience is comfortable, very elegant and friendly. The breakfasts included in the price, were very tasty yet simple. The owner Maureen, was always available and gave me many reccommendatiions. all of them were accurate! She helped out in any way she could. The breakfast cooking was spectacular!! I think if you're new to the myriad of B&B;s as I am, you will find this way above average! read more

This was an unexpected stop on our travels. We didn't know where we were going to end up for the day. I am so grateful to of stumbled upon The Parsonsge B&B. Michael and Jeffrey were the most gracious, helpful and lovely hosts . Clearly they have a love for where they live and what they do. The room was very comfortable, the breakfast was fabulous. Michael suggested a restaurant named Moya that served one of the best meals I have ever had. I will treasure this whole experience and hope if we are back in this part of the country we can visit again. read more

We enjoyed a lovely weekend at the Parsonage Bed and Breakfast. The Lehigh Room was warm and comfortable, a perfect retreat after skiing in single-digit temperatures. The bathroom was clean and the shower was hot! Maureen's breakfasts were outstanding. One morning she had three different guests with three different kinds of dietary restrictions. Not only was she able to accommodate everyone, the gluten-free banana bread was good that the guest was asking for cooking tips! This B&B is in a great location, very convenient to the shops and restaurants in Jim Thorpe. It was nice not to worry about parking at all, and to have an easy place to come back and change between hiking and lunch. We would definitely stay here again! read more

This B & B was selected based on the previous review which well stated and spot on. We had a wonderfully comfortable stay. Looking forward to our next visit to the area. read more

Maureen, the proprietor, was very accommodating (we made reservations only a week in advance and arrived later than planned) and helpful with local activity and recreation recommendations- regardless if your interests skewed towards antiquing or towards hiking. The breakfasts were hearty, and the Lehigh room was spacious. The bed was particularly comfortable. The toiletries and complimentary wine/tea were nice touches, and Maureen was kind enough to pack us a light breakfast to go when we departed very early the last morning. Maureen herself was what really made the property warm and worthwhile. Would recommend staying there while in Jim Thorpe. read more

My husband and I wanted to step away from the hectic city life for a few days, and we found the best place to do that. Jim Thorpe offers amazing outdoor options, it's such a beautiful place. But the best part of our visit to Jim Thorpe was our stay at The Parsonage. Micheal and Jeffri were exceptional hosts, they are truly nice and welcoming, they make you feel very comfortable. They help you with whatever you need, including lots of touristic suggestions and conversations about the city's history and many other interesting topics. The house itself is amazing, filled with antiques and carefully picked items to cover all surfaces. The accommodations are impeccable, our room (John's) was very charming and very clean. They have a pretty gazebo you can hang out, and a nice deck. And finally, their breakfast is phenomenal! The coffee is great and the food is all made from scratch, delicious and fresh, and not your average breakfast menu, it's really a gourmet experience! I don't think anyone can be less than 'very satisfied' with The Parsonage. read more

Good location, nice breakfast, but the room (the "Switchback") reeked of mildew. This was unacceptable.

We are frequent Bed and Breakfast users and have to rate the Parsonage as a 5 Star Property. The rooms are not just comfortable and roomy but tastefully and enjoyably decorated. From the minute your arrive Michael and Jeffrey showed off their decades of hospitality experience with service and useful information. Even though we had previously lived in the area Michael provided additional useful info. The grounds and building are beautiful and wonderfully decorated with their collections of artwork from their worldwide travels. The Gazebo in the rear gardens provides an relaxing location to unwind from the day's endeavors with some wine and to chat with other guests. As for breakfast, they were not just excellently prepared but healthy. The Quinoa Corn pancakes, we want more! By the time we left we not only booked a fall stay for the foliage but also felt we gained 2 new friends in Michael and Jeffrey. Thanks read more
