Breakfast is complimentary with choices of making your own waffle, fruit, cereal, scrambled eggs, port sausage, juice, and more. Coffee and tea is available 24 hours a day and when we arrived on Saturday afternoon, there was fresh popped popcorn in the lobby. The breakfast was not to my liking but it's a great option to save money and with the various items available, you can find something you like. I had the waffle, scrambled eggs and pork sausage and the eggs tasted like powdered eggs which they likely were and I don't eat a lot of pork but prefer pork bacon versus pork sausage. The taste of bacon is better for me. I had a room on the second floor, room 204 to be exact. TIP: Avoid this room if you want to open the shades and see outside. This room looks directly at the front entrance overhang so you get to see the roof of the entrance and a little of the driveway. Just terrible. This is approximately 21 minute drive from Blue Mountain Skin Resort.

They're doing construction at the hotel and i was woken up at 530 AM by a hotel worker walking into the room and telling me that we were supposed to be moved the night before. So after moving rooms and trying to go back to bed i get woken up by an air chisel 2 rooms over constantly going off and am told at the front desk that they cant switch me to another room. I stayed here recently with my older teen, and --- while I acknowledge "you get what you pay for", some hiccups occurred. Location was the top reason I booked this hotel, just bear in mind if you're staying here that the turn is on a large one-way road (READ: cars zooming by) with a sharp right turn to pull in. Slow down way ahead of time do your fellow drivers behind you know. If you miss it, you'll have to go down the road and make a big circle to loop around. The Positives- We had a generally pleasant stay, largely due to the proximity to the highway, the local ski resort (20 mins from Blue Mountain), and thanks to the 24/7 refreshment station (Coffee/Tea/ Hot H2O/Milk) and the complimentary breakfast. WiFi was also decent enough that my son was able to game for a little bit. BreakfastL a) Grab-n-Go- Very convenient options like pre-packed hard-boiled eggs, string cheese, and cups of Quaker oats. b) Hot Options:-DIY waffles, cheese omelets, and sausage links. c) All-Day Access- Free milk, coffee, tea, and dry cereal available throughout the day. Honorable Mention- The pool, hot tub, and gym looked clean and well-maintained, though we didn't use them. Areas for Improvement- The room's cleanliness was disappointing. We found leftover potato chips, red tinsel, and rose petals on the carpet from the previous guests--perhaps leftover from a previous Valentine's Party, but it clearly hadn't been vacuumed. More concerning was a visible brown stain on the mattress protector of one of the Queen beds. While the front desk noted it was just a "bedbug cover," it was unappealing that we placed an extra flat sheet over it for peace of mind. Additionally, the walls are quite thin; be prepared to hear your neighbors. Further, the bulk toiletry bottles in the bathroom (shampoo, conditioner, lotion) were very difficult to squeeze and yielded little output. The shower only had Shampoo & Conditioner, so if you are a body-wash user, bring your own. Also, TV kept glitching in/out while we were watching the Olympics (this might be more annoying if you paid for media). Again, while I wasn't expecting high-end luxury during my stay, some of this stuff was basic. The Verdict- Despite the hiccups with housekeeping, the amenities are solid. The pool and gym areas looked very clean and well-used by other families. If you're looking for a budget-friendly stay with a great breakfast, this is a decent choice--just double-check the vacuuming! Overall, it's a decent value stay if you prioritize a good breakfast and a budget-friendly price.

The murder mystery itself was the highlight, the storyline was engaging, and the actors were clearly well-trained in improv and very kind. Murder Mystery: 8/10 The room was fairly standard, what you'd expect in an old-timey house. No TV or modern extras, but there were plenty of charging outlets, which was appreciated. Room: 7/10 The food during the stay was incredibly disappointing. Most of it felt like reheated microwave meals. Breakfast included eggs, bacon (very thin, broken pieces), cubed potatoes that were oddly watery, ham slices, stale danishes, cereal cups, and a parfait option that had run out by our 9am time slot. Dinner was similar in quality. I chose the cheese ravioli, but despite being second in line, it was cold. The same watery potatoes from breakfast were served again, along with green beans. The only highlight was the coffee, which was good. Food: 2/10 Unfortunately, the parking situation is very poor. There are only 5-6 spots directly outside and a few more up the hill behind the carriage house. I was dropped off at check-in and informed staff that my boyfriend would be arriving late. I was assured there would be parking available and that staff would be present 24/7 to assist him. However, I woke up to a call from him saying he couldn't find parking. I went downstairs to get help, but no staff could be found. Not wanting to disturb other guests, I eventually gave up, and he had to park on the street in the neighborhood on top of the hill overnight. At breakfast, we were briefly told about additional parking behind the carriage house, but there was no apology or acknowledgment of the issue from the night before, nor any attempt to make it right. Parking: 1/10 The staff overall seemed inexperienced and, at times, unprofessional. While I empathize with younger staff members, there were several uncomfortable moments--such as hearing an employee joke about "killing" another staff member over a small mistake, and staff walking away mid-conversation while we were trying to ask follow-up questions. Staff: 4/10 Overall, there were some enjoyable elements, especially the murder mystery, but the experience didn't quite match the price point. With a few key improvements, this could be a much more worthwhile stay.

Just in time for Halloween!…read more Perched atop Packer Hill in the village of Jim Thorpe, this place was used as the model for the Haunted Mansion at Disney, whose interior is anything but spooky. After our tour at Asa Packer, he later built his son Harry a mansion next door as a wedding present in 1874. The mansion's impressive facade could have been taken from a Gothic novel, so much so that the building's design caught the eye of Disney Imagineers where my partner, his aunt, and I came to take some photos last Saturday. The Harry Packer Mansion Inn is open for lodging, tours on weekends, drinks at Libations Lounge, and, of course, murder mystery. Fifteen-foot ceilings, marble fireplaces, and gilded mirrors reflect the elegance of the Victorian Age. If you are in the area, it's a photo op.

The great: We almost booked through a third party website because it looked like it was $20 cheaper but we ended up reviewing the discount tab on the Inn at Jim Thorpe website and noticed a 15% discount if we booked over the phone. Booking over the phone saved us about $50. The staff was kind, professional and helpful over the phone and in person. They even gave us fresh baked cookies when we checked in. The inn is an old, crickety building and the rooms are small but clean. There's a stairwell and small elevator once you're inside the building. I don't know if there was a handicap entrance into the building. The parking lot was easy to find but it is quite narrow, which should be expected in an old building/old town. Ice and a filtered water fountain is located in the basement and they have a vending machine too if you're looking for a late night snack or sweet treat. The not so great: One thing did feel misleading. The staff said the restaurant attached to it ( Broadway something or other) is the only place that serves breakfast & they require reservations. The Inn even provides a $10 off per person coupon for the restaurant but we found a few options for Nitro cold brew, coffee, tea and baked goods right down the block. Personally, this felt like sales tactic to make us think breakfast would be scarce. Maybe that's the case during peak tourism season but it didn't seem to be the case when we were in town. Overall we'd definitely stay here again. Between the trails, the cool architecture and the good food, we found Jim Thorpe to be a fun place to explore.

Live entertainment both nights (fri & sat) with some good specialty drinks. The bartender Tyler was AWESOME. He made our night more fun than we expected. Upstairs bar was good enough, but Tyler downstairs was the best. Other bartenders had little to no personality. The one even seemed annoyed we were ordering drinks? Strange. Both nights we ate dinner at the restaurant, Broadway Grill on the main level. First night was good... second night was a complete 180. Breakfast was good both mornings we ate there. You do need reservations for breakfast which was easy to do online. Plus a $10 off per person each day at breakfast for staying at the Inn. The second night they ran out of the most basic side - rice. still put mushrooms in a pasta dish that was repeatedly asked not to be put in there. A side of fries that were supposed to come out with a meal was supposed to be delivered soon after.... But another persons meal was sent back (awful taste to the chicken parm) and fries were given in place of the meal. Still no fries for the other person. Dry salmon but the sauce saved it. Mashed potatoes cold. The manager was very understanding & i appreciated her kindness. The waitresses were all very nice too. Overall - I'd still go back during another season as we were here in winter & not much was open. I'd stay here again and just plan for dinner elsewhere.
