My wife and I would absolutely stay here if we were were in the area again. Book here expecting to be taken care of and have a good "home base" for whatever you'd like to do near Palmerton and the surrounding towns.

Angie is one of the kindest, most hospitable bed and breakfast hosts I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She would check in, ask if we needed anything, but without hovering. The Roth House itself is a country house. I think it is advertised as "your Grandma's house in the country" so you shouldn't expect 5 star amenities, but everything is clean, maintained, and well decorated to suit the "grandma's house in the country" aesthetic. I think they said it used to be a boarding house. We would absolutely stay again just for Angie's kind hospitality and delicious breakfast. I don't know if they are still doing this, but if you pay cash, they'll give you a slight discount. I would recommend if you're a sensitive sleeper bringing a noise machine or using your phone for white noise to help block out the street traffic, but even that was pretty minimal. Also, don't worry about the sulfur smell in the water when taking a shower, the water is piped in from an underground well, but it is 100% safe to use. Loved the Roth House!

The rooms were amazing with so many options for the 10 of us to decide in which room we would sleep. LOVED the Jade room at the top of the house with private balcony overlooking the lake. The main hall was over the top gourgous letting us enjoy an aperitif, set the beautiful table which sat 10 and playing the piano while watching the chefs create and play in what we called the dueling kitchen. We're in the restaurant business and the kitchen was stocked equally as well as my kitchen which serves 200pp. Felt Blessed!! Every night was game night!!! OMG even my parents stayed out to 1am planning pool, poker, blackjack and shuffleboard in the game room. The wrap around deck was our go to lunch spot with the convenience of being attached to the kitchen and the view of 3 lakes. We also enjoyed the outdoor corn hole, ping pong and making s'mores at the fire pit!! Also included was a canoe and peddle boat which we used on the lake and actually caught a few fish each day. The suite was spotless and beautifully furnished and had a very comfortable king-size bed. We received a gracious and warm welcome from the host when we arrived. First, let me start from the outside going in. The street that the Inn is located is so quaint and charming, we weren't even inside yet, and I knew it was going to be wonderful. Diane and Chris were fantastic hosts, gave us tips on where to eat and things to do. The Inn has a fireplace in the common area along with coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Our suite was a great size, and I was very impressed with how clean it was. The mattress was very comfortable, and so was the couch in the sitting room. The in room breakfast was perfect! Stocked juices in the mini fridge, fresh yogurt with honey and berries, and ready on our table were granola, fruits, scones, muffins, biscotti and the most delicious cakes. We did not get into our car at all as everything was less than a 10 min walk away. We did the train ride, a show at the opera house, Big Creek tasting room, Myst, Molly Maguires, and shopping. When we come back to Jim Thorpe, and we will be back, Times House will be our place to stay! I'm already trying to arrange a friends trip for next fall!

We didn't have to hunt for parking, as they have designated spots for the bed and breakfast. Chris (one of the innkeepers) greeted us after we parked to offer assistance with luggage and show us to our room. We were staying in Serenity which was located on the third floor. The room was beautifully decorated and meticulously clean. A small table was already set with dishes for breakfast the next morning. Fresh baked goods, courtesy of Diane (the other innkeeper), as well as fresh fruit, homemade granola, and a refrigerator stocked with orange juice, apples juice, bottled water, creamers for coffee and yogurt were all provided for us to enjoy for breakfast at our convenience. Down in the main parlor there was also a side table set up with coffee, tea and hot cocoa. When housekeeping visited our room the next afternoon, everything was tidied up and the items we consumed were replenished. The room had a television with streaming ability. The location of Times House was perfect and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. We did not have to visit our car again until our departure. My husband and I have already recommended Times House to several friends and plan to visit here again ourselves.

My partner and I was on a day visit to Jim Thorpe and saw this lodge and since we moved from Arizona aptly thought we might turn into the lodge given the reference to Flagstaff and see if we can check out the lodge for future visits. Upon turning in, we saw a sign that indicates that only guest of the lodge may enter. The sign honestly was not noticeable until the point of turning in. Given that, we immediately made a turn into the lot to back out and leave but as we were headed towards the exit heard a very loud shout with a man running towards our car indicating for us to stop. We did and a man wearing a shirt with flagstaff lodge printed on it shouted at us for coming in and asked us if we thought it was ok to enter if we were not guests. My partner indicated that we might be interested in the future and he retorted with a oh I don't think so and to leave right away. That was our plan from the very first place anyway and can honestly is funny on hindsight for someone to take such an effort to chase us out when that was our plan anyway. We will never find out if this lodge lives up yo its 5 star review as we don't ever plan to book but our experience is that we were treated very rudely and disrespectfully.

Murder Mystery: 8/10 The room was fairly standard, what you'd expect in an old-timey house. No TV or modern extras, but there were plenty of charging outlets, which was appreciated. Room: 7/10 The food during the stay was incredibly disappointing. Most of it felt like reheated microwave meals. Breakfast included eggs, bacon (very thin, broken pieces), cubed potatoes that were oddly watery, ham slices, stale danishes, cereal cups, and a parfait option that had run out by our 9am time slot. Dinner was similar in quality. I chose the cheese ravioli, but despite being second in line, it was cold. The same watery potatoes from breakfast were served again, along with green beans. The only highlight was the coffee, which was good. Food: 2/10 Unfortunately, the parking situation is very poor. There are only 5-6 spots directly outside and a few more up the hill behind the carriage house. I was dropped off at check-in and informed staff that my boyfriend would be arriving late. I was assured there would be parking available and that staff would be present 24/7 to assist him. However, I woke up to a call from him saying he couldn't find parking. I went downstairs to get help, but no staff could be found. Not wanting to disturb other guests, I eventually gave up, and he had to park on the street in the neighborhood on top of the hill overnight. At breakfast, we were briefly told about additional parking behind the carriage house, but there was no apology or acknowledgment of the issue from the night before, nor any attempt to make it right. Parking: 1/10 The staff overall seemed inexperienced and, at times, unprofessional. While I empathize with younger staff members, there were several uncomfortable moments--such as hearing an employee joke about "killing" another staff member over a small mistake, and staff walking away mid-conversation while we were trying to ask follow-up questions. Staff: 4/10 Overall, there were some enjoyable elements, especially the murder mystery, but the experience didn't quite match the price point. With a few key improvements, this could be a much more worthwhile stay.
