In town for a reunion and I couldn't turn down a chance to stay here!! Casey welcomed us & give us our room key /cards. I also couldn't resist buying a couple of postcards in the gift shop downstairs. And they will be ready with their Christmas goodies soon. They have a specially designed peppermint bark tin by a local artist. It really showcases the charm of this town and the heritage of this very wonderful hotel . I really enjoy the deep bathtubs here!! I am ready with bath salts!! Full relaxation! The beds are so comfortable. The pills are soft and sheets feel so clean and so soft and so relaxing. I sleep so well. Quiet as can be!! Only good dreams !! Francois cared for me at the restaurant. I loved my avocado toast. And I was over the moon that walking distance from the hotel is a UNESCO HERITAGE SITE!! We had a good time talking about this huge event in town!!!! Wow !! I look forward to coming back!! read more

Hotel Bethlehem is beautiful inside and out. Stayed one night while in town visiting friends. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The couch is looking a little worn and dirty. There was also some blue tape on the ceiling covering an opening. There is a small fridge you can use to store items. One down side is the TV. No Netflix or up to date TV available. We had breakfast in the Taproom. Food was delicious and service was great. Valet parking only at this time as they are updating the hotels parking lot. We were taken by shuttle to get our car which was parked a little way away. read more

A lovely place to go for Christmas brunch! Many options and seasonal drinks available. They werent allowing brunch guests to park in the lot and offered a bus with overflow parking, that could have been communicated to guests when booking the brunch instead of day of. Very cozy historic hotel in the center of Bethlehem. My husband and I came here for job interviews and this hotel was located perfectly just a short drive from most places. Tons of stores, restaurants in the area. Our room was really comfortable. Bathroom very clean. Service was 10/10. I finished a bit early and grabbed a bite at the tavern in the lobby of the hotel. We just got back from our 2 night stay at The Historic Bethlehem hotel. What an amazing time we had at this magical place. The hotel was decorated for the holidays, 2 gigantic Christmas trees in the main lobby, the energy was in the air! We were greeted by the front desk staff. Suzie was working the front desk and greeted us with a big smile and hello. Maria was there as well and greeted us the same way. They both were so nice and were able to get us our room earlier than expected. Suzie moved us to the 7th floor and told us that we had a room with a wonderful view. Our room was dressed so beautifully. The linens and bed were perfect, the room a decent size and the bathroom with marble floors. (Not too big). Our view was looking out to the Lehigh Valley, and the Main Street with all the wonderful historic buildings. You can hear the sound of the freight engines whistle and just take it all in. Up in the mountains, you can see the star brightly lit at the mountain top! In the hotel, besides the catering functions that they do, the lobby of filled with piano music by Gary Mies which was amazing. The lobby led you to the stairs up to their restaurant. The main dining restaurant was decorated as well with elves on flying geese, palm trees, wall lighting and huge windows (chilly). Chelsea's our waitress actually took care of us for the amazing brunch (OMG)! And our dinner. She was pleasant and social with our table, her service was good are well. Across the lobby to the other side is their tap room bar. Spiros was tending bar and took great care of its as we sat for a while, watching the game and just enjoying the experience. We really had an amazing time at the hotel and I am looking forward to going back next year again with my kids and their families. read more

It is historic but I would say more like vintage 1985, the last time it was refreshed. Everything about this place is VERY tired. The lobby, hallways, rooms and even the windows!! Which we had trouble opening:(. It is also pricey for the area. This town could use an upscale hotel. It's sad that the owners don't realize that. read more

I give this place seven stars, the atmosphere was all so lovely. Live music . Reservations are a complete must in this hotel, Bethlehem, we didn't get an opportunity to make reservations, but we were lucky enough to be seated at the bar where we met our bartender Sirios And Courtney Jo, We ordered a lovely dinner. I had a beautiful spinach salad with pecans, feta cheese, and the vinaigrette dressing that was drizzled on top with beautiful raspberries. This salad was so delicious. We also had a beautiful lobster bisque soup. Then the grand finale was a lobster roll on a buttery brioche rolls. It was so buttery and delicious that the butter was all over my eyeglasses. That's how I deeply involved in this delicious lobster roll I was lol lol. For our beverage, he chose Hoegarden beer , And I had a Cupid love, Prosecco and raspberry. I recently had lunch at the Tap Room at the Hotel. It was delicious. Unfortunately I left my credit card. I didn't notice it was missing until the next day when I stopped for fuel..(I'd traveled several states away). I called and was able to leave an URGENT message. My call was returned before I reached home. The kind person took my address and my card was back in my wallet within a week. I've never had an experience like the Hotel Bethlehem. Normally I would opt for a chain hotel but I wanted the experience of being in the historic section and leaving my car parked for the weekend. This is relaxed elegance at its finest. The staff are incredible. How they manage two weddings and untold smaller gatherings in the same weekend while giving the friendliest and most excellent customer service is amazing. Bar and restaurant are quite good.8 The little Main Street has some nice little breakfast places and shops and a great Irish pub/Celtic goods shop and a really great book store. Walking through town is a nice treat too. read more

Dined here for lunch-- this is a bit of an old school place for those who prefer a more traditional dining experience. It's the kind of place that had water goblets and has linen napkins. We arrived on the Dec. 23rd. around 4pm in time to check in. We were fortunate enough to have 6:15 PM reservations at the 1741 terrace made at time of booking. The bartenders were excellent, friendly and attentive. When we moved to the 1741, the young boy that showed us to our table was definitely not trained in the service industry. We were fortunate to get a table right next to the Palladium window overlooking Main street. Was drafty but lovely and our server was the best. Our shower did not drain was our first disappointment and it was not addressed. The second day we did not have a reservation for dinner but approached the taproom check in desk anyway. Was told both restaurants were booked. We did see however several empty tables of two so we asked if there was a cancellation or no show policy. Told no but we could check back in a couple of hours or since we were guests of the hotel they would send room service....not a solution for us to check back at 9 or order room service in a room that just fit the bed. They looked passed our heads to help the next person in line. We went to the bar which was full and ordered a drink. This night the bartenders were disappointing. No eye contact. The drinks were placed on the bar so far in that the patrons at the bar had to pass them to us.....the glasses were also full and now we are holding sticky glasses. We were there for approximately an hour. So frustrating to watch the three empty tables of two not fill up. I called from the bar that took several rings before the phone was answered and than disconnected. We went to a nearby restaurant, the Edge, had a lovely meal. Returned in an hour to the hotel and the tables were still empty. We won't be coming back., not sure what made it #1 in historic hotels. Maybe the decor and a handful of employees. I understand the chaos that comes with hotels/restaurants at Christmas but the staff can do better. read more

Awesome brunch & never saw so much food in my life. Fabulous selection of different delicious seafood, beef, ham pasta & deserts. Great place to celebrate a class reunion. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas. A musician played the piano & accordion which was delightful. We will continue to bask in the wonderful memories of our nursing school's important events with collaboration from Hotel Bethlehem. The buffet is just a foodies paradise. For the "number 1 historic hotel in the US" the brunch was not even mediocre. Dirty and wet plates in the piles of scratched and boring china (plain, heavy duty white), empty chafing dishes, scatters of food across the buffet tables that staff ignored, terribly bland omelette, utterly boring pastries and poor desserts. All this topped off with a server who couldn't hold a cup, plate, or pitcher steady and didn't keep our beverages filled. I am a big tipper but adding 20% to a bill at a buffet when the service staff is little more than a hopped up busser isn't acceptable. Then came the check, $70.00 per person for an experience one can have at a Country Buffet. Disappointing didn't even come near to the way our party felt after our "dining experience" today. read more

Stayed here 2 nights by myself last week and really enjoyed the luxury and cleanliness of Hotel Bethlehem. This historic hotel had a lovely self playing piano which I thoroughly enjoyed. The comfy single queen room was more than enough for me, good AC, bed was cozy and multiple weights of blankets made for a comfortable night. The little soaps and all have a wonderful fragrance, the tub was nice & towels good. Hotel is near train tracks so as an early riser I liked hearing the train at around 8am in the mornings. Meals in the lobby restaurant were fresh and very well made, I was comfortable eating breakfast alone and it was nice when I had guests. Dinner was excellent, I don't like alcohol so the mocktails were fantastic while my friend enjoyed regular cocktails. Being in the middle of Main St was great for strolling around and checking out local shops and restaurants then coming back in the evening to a busy restaurant bar with bellmen/car attendants and someone at the front dest for safety. Parking was around $18, worth it to have someone there. I'll come back read more

Shuttle sign was posted and we called and they said to wait for them to come. 20 minutes passed and another family called, and were told to come to the parking lot. my father has disabilities and greatly struggled. Stayed here for a two night holiday getaway with my wife. An easy 65 minute drive from where we live in Bucks County PA. The hotel is from the 1920's. Check in was painless and informative. We plan to explore a few restaurants and some history in the area. There is a lot to see and do right near the hotel. Parking is easy and right on the property. Self parking. We asked for a couple of wine glasses they arrived promptly The lobby is very nice and wonderfully decorated for the holidays. I can't recall ever seeing such large Christmas tree ornaments. Many notables have stayed in this place. In fact it seems as if every famous person from the past 100 years has stayed here. We got a seat at the crowded bar for a nightcap and it was all good. The rooms are nice and the bed comfy. We did notice sounds coming through the vent system but they were not too bad. We slept well. We had a breakfast in the hotel. It was served in the lounge area by the tap room. Good traditional American choices were available. Service was great. Coffee and local baked goods are available in the lobby from 630am, until they run out. The complimentary Moravian sweet cake was delicious. We wandered around after the meal and there are meeting rooms large and small throughout as well as a grand ballroom. The paintings in the smaller ballroom were interesting. Also there is a formal sit down restaurant on the west side of the lobby. One drawback is that due to the foreign virus most shoppes are only open Thurs-Sun and all open late and close early. Same for many of the museums and historical sites. Eateries and pubs are open but with limited hours. There were no restrictions in the hotel that we were aware of. This is a beautifully decorated masterpiece when it comes to hotel lore, especially during the high holidays. Get a room that faces the mountain so you can see the star of Bethlehem. We stayed here on a lovely weekend for a wedding. 1) accommodations were superb. 2) service was quick, kind and friendly. 3) the hotel is a throwback to the grand hotels of yesteryear. 4). Great buildout. 5). The wedding was terrific! 6). Great walking tours of historic Bethlehem just outside the door. 7) parking is free and easy. 8) the hotel is just off the main road. 9) very reasonable prices. 10) the bar & restaurant are very fine indeed! Very terrible hotel-nothing like the pictures; it calls itself "historic" and I doubt it; just a Pennsylvania, maybe mining town trying to save itself but the strange people working there when I arrived, have never read the Bible!!! I don't think they should have let these people work there, who know nothing about the Bible, or Christmas-maybe Ukranians who knows. Who hasn't read the Bible, or the Christmas story? They brought charges against me like the Bible story, on Dec 26th. Allegedly it was Dec 26th. It was totally out of character for a place calling itself "Bethlehem." Nothing christmas-like anywhere but they had a few carriages. Just terrible: expect to be spied on. Looks more like a club in its interior, nothing to go for. Expect a bunch of mean-spirited people telling you the Inn is full, at the last minute, and posting guards, even if it is Christmas, and trying to charge you for every penny you have over anything. It bothers me that they never read the Bible. Expect your enemies to be working there, temp staffing or whatever has never read the bible but manages to work in "Bethlehem." Expect them to rent the hotel out or whatever they did that day. A blue sign on the road says "follow the North Star to Bethlehem." Next year maybe Leavenworth. read more

My husband and I have been coming here for about 15 years, staying over, or dining or having a drink at the bar. It has really gone downhill. This afternoon we wanted to go in and have a holiday cocktail. They've added a bar area in the lobby. We saw three women sitting at this bar with drinks and a bartender behind the bar. We didn't see a placard saying the bar was closed until we went to one side where there were empty seats. Confused, I asked the bartender if the bar was open. Her response: "The bar will open when I take the signs down". Well screw you, too. We left. I've been increasingly disgusted with this place since the pandemic lifted and droves of people go into Bethlehem in giant buses. It isn't the quaint, warm little place we have fond memories of. I attended a wedding with a reception at Hotel Bethlehem, so that's the point of view for my review! Their main parking lot is very limited, however they have additional parking with a shuttle up to the hotel. The hotel itself was beautiful and decorated for the holiday season. There's several ballrooms available for events. It is a little confusing to navigate as the hotel is very large and there's a lot of staircases and alcoves in the hotel. The food that they catered was delicious and the staff were very friendly. They handled the big event like pros! read more
