The host messaged us ahead of time to make sure we were arriving before check inn ended at 9pm. When we arrived we did have to wait a few minutes as she was upstairs cleaning and mentioned she was short a staff member who normally cleaned. Looked like she had a lot to handle. The inn was really well kept, the room had a nice big fridge. I do think the part on the website about using the lounge whenever should be taken off. The door to the lounge was locked after breakfast time, and that is where the microwave is kept. Many times we like to heat leftovers up, but it wasn't a problem since we didn't have any leftovers on this trip. The first night it was difficult to sleep as the air conditioner was on full blast and we were freezing. We asked the host about it the next morning and she explained how the guests on the other side of the inn get hot since the sun hits the building over there. But she did turn the air down for us that night and we slept better. Can't please everyone I guess. I would stay here again. I do think some of the responses to people's complaints in the reviews are a little unprofessional and can be a little empathic towards guest's complaints.

The house itself is a beautiful blend of historic character and a few modern touches--staying in the Allamuchy Room felt like a true retreat. It was cozy, warm, and had everything we could possibly need for a winter getaway. The hospitality from Ricardo and Don is world-class. They went above and beyond by securing us a dinner reservation at a local restaurant where, thanks to their connection, we were treated like royalty! They even provided us with a custom photo taken in the parlor room of the house--a beautiful, personal memento that we will truly treasure. We also loved the 'snack room'--it was so well-stocked with coffee, tea, sweets, and chips, which was perfect for a cold evening. Breakfast was absolutely amazing, and meeting their dog, Takoda, was a highlight--he is such a sweet, gentle giant. Ricardo and Don have thought of every detail to make their guests feel at home. If you're looking for a personal touch in a stunning historic setting, this is it. We can't wait to return!

They rebooked the hotel for the new dates (I have the confirmation), but upon arrival she said I was marked as a no-show. Then said I was now in a smoking room. I said I cannot do that, but she seemed like I choose it. I reiterated I cannot stay in smoking, she moved me, but if the room was available not sure what the initial push back was. Then when I got to the room wifi didn't work. I called down and they said it must be my issue. She literally was telling me there is nothing she can do. This is a business trip, I cannot go without wifi. I advised that I know how to connect to wifi and I thought to ask what the original room number was that I should have been in, with reluctance, and conviction that I was wrong about my assumption that it was possibly what the wifi issue was she finally gave it to me, and it worked. The wifi was still reflecting the other room to allow me permission to connect. I tried breakfast the first morning, the hot foods were pretty empty at 7:30AM, I had a bagel but didn't like that the cream cheese was room temperature. I gave up doing breakfast the rest of my stay. The smells on my floor were horrible, between cigarette smoke and BO I was super disgusted and had to hold my breath coming and going from my room. Thank goodness it didn't enter the room. I would have left. The upside, location and there was a kind gentleman doing maintenance around the site. He was friendly...but I won't be back. I'm disappointed because I will be coming back and forth to the area for a few years, being a Hilton member, this is one of the few in the area. She is the exemplar of hospitality, just a brilliant exemplar of hospitality and customer service. When we checked in, Dahama was wearing a brilliant amazing technicolor sweater, and engaged with my wife about the joy of this wonderful garment. She helped us to pick out a room that we would like, and we dropped our bag before visiting relatives about 10 minutes away from the hotel. My brother in law and I both drive EVs. When we returned to the hotel about 10:00 p.m., we found a Hyundai parked straddling two EV parking spaces, blocking both Tesla destination chargers. I snapped a photo of the offending vehicle, and went to the desk. My experience with hotels in the past have been less than satisfactory, receiving a shrug of the shoulders and a response in the neighborhood of "what do you want me to do about it." Not Dahama. When she saw the photo, she said she thought she remembered the person with that car. She looked up the person, called the room, called the cell phone, and called the room again. The owner of the car answered the phone, and came out to move the car away from the chargers. As an EV driver, I often choose a hotel based on the presence of an EV charger. The availability of a charger at an overnight stop saves 30-45 minutes when you get started the next day. You can't do any more to build customer loyalty than to have someone as observant and thoughtful as Dahama at your hotel. While I love having her at the front desk, I will understand your wise corporate decision were you to promote her to a vice president in charge of customer relations.

She misspelled Hackettstown while talking to them. I don't know why she didn't just ask them to hold for the literally 3 minutes it took to check me in once she finished her call. Instead, I was left standing at the desk holding my bags without even a "hello." Being assigned the room next to the elevator had some immediate tip-offs that it wouldn't be great. For one, the room number was a taped-on piece of paper. The door to my room was immediately adjacent to the elevator door. Surprisingly, the mechanical elevator noise was almost nonexistent. What wasn't nonexistent was the constant noise of people loudly gabbing from 6:30 AM until 9:00 AM as they walked down the hall and stood right outside my door waiting on the elevator to go get the hotel breakfast. Who wakes up and is talkative at 6:30 AM on a weekend? Stay in bed or shut up, you absolute monsters. The breakfast was fine with a decent selection of breads for toast. There was a waffle batter dispenser and a waffle iron, but I have no idea how anyone was meant to transfer the batter to the iron. It would have been nice if the room had been fully stocked with paper products. They only gave me barely a roll and a half of toilet paper for all four days, so I had to go to the desk to beg for more. Not very dignified nor quality. The room's heater only had the option to be on full-blast or off, with mediocre heating even fully turned to hot so I had to choose between heat and cold when the days were sweater weather and there was the hint of frost at night. A quiet room with decent climate control would've been nice. I guess I got what I paid for.

If you're into sports hobbies and leisure and not so into God maybe you'll find him here. But if not please don't leave a bad review based on the amenities. The amenities are just fine if you want a cheap Christian getaway. But if you're looking for luxury this really isn't the place for you. It's more about spirit than luxury. The $$$ on the review is not accurate. When I was a kid it was $100 for a kid to attend a weekend retreat from Friday night until Sunday afternoon. This included a two night stay and all meals and activities. That was thirty years ago. Since then the deal remains the same but the price has only gone up $20. Which doesn't even account for inflation. That is because this place is a MINISTRY first. Aside from all of the wonderful amenities and the things to do like the pool the game room the basketball courts and tennis courts and the beautiful views of the river, there is also the spiritual aspect of the retreat which is so sorely needed among gods people in this very evil time. It's a good place to get a break from the world, regroup, refocus, and rededicate. Come here for the refreshing of the Holy Spirit. Come here to be sharpened as iron sharpens iron. Come here to meet new likeminded Christians who take their faith seriously. Come here to go home with renewed purpose and dedication. Come here to find Jesus. Please pray for this place that they remainn that way, that the leadership would focus on ministry, that they would not allow money to ever become the focus, that they would continue to walk by faith and that the leadership would continue to follow Christ. That they would be divinely directed to hire only sincere Christians and not hire based on appearances or resume but according The holy spirits direction. Also that the Holy Spirit would guide them in who they choose for speakers and activities and what they would allow in the bookstore. Blessings.

DO NOT STAY HERE…read more This hotel used to be the Holiday Inn, Clinton. It was a decent hotel, nothing off the top fancy but clean and accommodating. The hotel is now called Liyo and is a disaster, please look at the recent photos before booking at this hotel. We booked on BringFido.com and the images that are advertised on their site as well as the images on the Liyo site are seriously out of date. Let's start with windows boarded up, caution tape throughout the parking lot and inside the hotel. Water damage to the carpets, both in the hallways and in the rooms. Incomplete construction, cargo containers in the parking lot, scrap metal from the hotel stacked up in a pile outside. A broken elevator. Mold in every bathroom, (we looked at three rooms). The last room we looked at was over the pool and reeked of chlorine and chlorine gas, to the point that we had sore throats. This place needs to be condemned and is unfit for occupancy.

There was lots of free parking, but nothing right near the door as the parking lot is off to the side. The upper parking lot looked scary as it had a few abandon tailor containers. The out side dining area in the front looked appealing (though being winter, the area was not open to use). The entry way was clean , modern and welcoming (a large modern beautiful chandelier was hanging from above). Check in was easy and staff generally nice. The rugs in some hall ways were newer but buckled up in area, and rippled. Some roof areas we looked down upon had fake grass carpeting but it was all torn up in chunks and looked hideous (they need to get up there and just pull it all off!). The room was nice, comfortable, clean, and easy to regulate the heat. The interior was updated too. The view was nice too of trees and a hill of homes in the distance. The bed was very plush and made for a good nights sleep. It was very quiet all night as well. The bath room was clean and had updated features too. However, the little shelves in the shower just ruined the whole make over of that area. They were installed or re-installed with some yellow glue that was not cleaned up properly and looked like a mess on the shower walls. At first I thought it was a ton of mold (but thank gosh it wasn't! See photo). The pool on the 2nd floor was enjoyable. It was a salt water pool and the temperature was perfect. They had plenty of clean towels to use at the pool site too, but they were rather small. The area around it was general set up well (looked like a good party area) and for the most part clean. However, there were areas that were chipping, pealing, and in need of some repairs. The live plants around the area looked like they had never been watered and were bunched away in a corner. In addition, some super large dirt filled planters were just filled with dirt and no plants (they could at least place some fake ones in them and not have to worry about watering!!). There were other activities to do in the pool area too (pool tables, a digital juke box and an electronic game). However, the game was turned off, juke box wouldn't play (even though it was on), and the pool table was missing some balls. The worst part was that the lights above the pool tables hadn't been cleaned in a very long time (see photo), gross! The bar on the first floor was nice, not too noisy and a friendly employee working there. In the morning we had a difficult time at the breakfast area attempting to get spoons to eat with. Had to go to the front desk finally to ask for some. The free breakfast was minimal but fine (cold cereal, stale English Muffins, yogarts, apples, OJ). Check out was easy too. However, later on when I read the receipt, it was a different price than what I reserved the room for on line. Cheaper, but still not what I booked it for. But after I checked my charge card statement I saw that they did charge me the higher rate! Just waiting to see if they ALSO charged me a second time on this months charge card bill. We shall see.
