Exceptional hospitality and historic charm in Hackettstown! We had a fantastic stay at the Everitt House in January 2026. The house itself is a beautiful blend of historic character and a few modern touches--staying in the Allamuchy Room felt like a true retreat. It was cozy, warm, and had everything we could possibly need for a winter getaway. The hospitality from Ricardo and Don is world-class. They went above and beyond by securing us a dinner reservation at a local restaurant where, thanks to their connection, we were treated like royalty! They even provided us with a custom photo taken in the parlor room of the house--a beautiful, personal memento that we will truly treasure. We also loved the 'snack room'--it was so well-stocked with coffee, tea, sweets, and chips, which was perfect for a cold evening. Breakfast was absolutely amazing, and meeting their dog, Takoda, was a highlight--he is such a sweet, gentle giant. Ricardo and Don have thought of every detail to make their guests feel at home. If you're looking for a personal touch in a stunning historic setting, this is it. We can't wait to return!

This is a wonderful escape place! The room was very comfortable, antiques are beautiful, very comfortable chairs and bed. Love the furniture in the other rooms. Very well done. Breakfast was amazing. Yes, it's downtown Hackettstown and you hear traffic, but so what...not a game changer. I highly recommend coming here!

Everything about Everitt House is wonderful!! The home is beautiful and clean. The bed and furniture were very comfortable. The entire house was charming! The breakfast was delicious. I had quiche and fresh fruit. You are seated in a beautiful sun room and are treated like royalty! Ricardo was so friendly and welcoming from the moment I arrived. Don is an amazing chef and so kind. I highly recommend that you stay here if you are near Hackettstown.

Beautiful cozy place! We had reservations at James on Main and decided to make a night of it, we were so happy to find the Everitt House within walking distance. We visited the two breweries in town, Man Skirt and Czig Meister for pre and post dinner beers. Our breakfast in the morning was dubbed "the James on Main Breakfast" it was so delicious! The host were super friendly and made our stay feel really welcoming and warm. Hope to visit this unique spot again sometime!

We stayed this past weekend and LOVED it! Ricardo and Don were excellent hosts and very gracious. We stayed in the Everitt Room and it was very comfortable and nicely decorated. If we have the opportunity to stay again - we will!

AMAZING!!!!!! I spent the weekend at this beautiful Bed and Breakfast with some of my girl friends and it exceeded our expectations. The place is not only filled with history, but it also offers beautiful sitting areas and beautiful bedrooms. There are many special items that are made from local artist and shop owners that will give you a sense of the hospitality of not only the owners Ricardo and Don, but of the locals. The breakfast was delicious and the snack room was fully stocked for those late night cravings. They truly made it feel comfortable and they took care of all of our needs with grace and professionalism. They also suggestEd some activities and places that we should visit, 'which we did and was glad that we did. They made it a weekend that we will never forget. THANK YOU AND I WILL BE BACK! #everrithouse

As the mother of the bride, I am extremely disappointed with our experience at this venue…read more Many of the issues involved the on-site manager, Trisha, who was responsible for overseeing the property and wedding operations. Throughout the weekend, there was a lack of professionalism, communication, and urgency in addressing problems. The guest accommodations had no hot water, plumbing issues, and a toilet that would not flush. When concerns were brought to Trisha's attention, we were met with comments like, "Ugh, this is my life," rather than solutions. The bridal suite was equally disappointing. The water smelled strongly of sulfur, making the tub unusable for the bride and groom on their wedding night. The air conditioning was not working, and although Trisha was informed the night before, it was still not fixed the next morning. At 7:00 a.m. on the wedding day, I texted her to let her know it still wasn't working and received no response. This was a 90+ degree June day, and fifteen women were trying to get ready in the bridal suite without air conditioning. On the morning of her wedding, my daughter was told that dogs were not allowed in the bridal suite, despite us being told during our initial tour that dogs were welcome. After the ceremony, Trisha told the bride and groom that the groomsmen's belongings had been locked away and needed to be collected, pulling them away from their guests. She also told them it was "the worst wedding she had ever hosted," which is something no couple should ever hear on their wedding day. There was also an incident in which Trisha physically grabbed our wedding coordinator's arm, dug her nails into her, and pulled her toward the parking lot. To make matters worse, I discovered an unauthorized $264.84 room charge on my credit card. Most disappointing of all was the complete lack of accountability afterward. We spoke directly with one of the owners during the wedding weekend and were promised a follow-up call the next day. Despite multiple calls and messages from both my husband and me, we never received a response. My family has been in the hospitality industry for many years. We understand that problems can happen. What matters is how they are handled. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we cannot recommend this venue.

If I could give zero stars, I would…read more What should have been one of the most exciting times of our lives turned into one of the most frustrating experiences we've ever had. After paying an $8,000 deposit, communication became inconsistent, responses were slow or nonexistent, and getting straightforward answers felt like pulling teeth. As paying customers making one of the biggest financial commitments of our lives, we expected professionalism, transparency, and at the very least basic customer service. Instead, we were left chasing updates, waiting for responses, and feeling completely ignored when important questions arose. The most disappointing part was how little flexibility or understanding was shown when issues came up. Rather than working with us to find solutions, we felt like we were treated as nothing more than a signed contract and a deposited check. A wedding venue should make couples feel excited, supported, and confident in their decision. Unfortunately, our experience did the exact opposite. The stress, frustration, and lack of communication ultimately overshadowed everything else. Before signing anything or handing over a large deposit, I strongly recommend that couples ask themselves one question: if a problem comes up, will this venue actually be there to help you? Based on our experience, the answer was a resounding no. This was one of the most disappointing customer service experiences we've ever had, and we deeply regret choosing this venue.

Minimized exposure to others versus staying with family or certainly a hotel chain. The owner Marsha was clearly prepared with COVID precautions. The property is incredible with a beautiful stream on property, horse shoes, a pool table, etc. Lots to do in the area with hiking trails just a short distance down the road. Everything seems well thought out for making guests comfortable with snacks, coffee, sodas, cookies, available at all times. The house is quite large and with the barn also accessible, there's no issue finding a quiet spot for reading or even listening to music with a glass of wine using the Sonos music system (even available in the barn!). This would be perfect for a family to rent out the whole home. Going stir crazy due to pandemic concerns? This is a great way to change your view safely.

The wedding venue is a beautiful place if you are looking to have a rustic barn wedding. However it is a DIY place so be prepared to set everything up on your own and clean up the next day, unless of course you hire someone for that. :) The ceremony took place by the brook in the back, the dinner tables were set up under a tent in the field, dancing and the band were in the barn. It was really the PERFECT venue for the couple getting married.

It is a busy place for big wedding events now, and so we like to stay during the week. It is very relaxing to walk around the grounds. We saw a giant heron in the pond and deer strolling. There are so many nice places to sit outside with a bottle of wine and a book or snacks. Rooms are very unique and comfortable. You have a lot of different personalities to choose from: lofts, cabins, barn spaces, etc. Many have jacuzzis which can provide your evening entertainment, lol. We have not eaten in the restaurant because our top restaurant on earth is very close by, but when it was closed, Josh gave us great recommendations. And he made a lovely tofu scramble for breakfast as a special request. One sweet touch: despite checking the room, we left without my spouse's expensive phone charger. Housekeeping found it and ran after us before we could drive off without it. She did not have to do that. Always tip your housekeeping staff. The extended Covid months have been very hard on inns, restaurants, and event spaces, and it must be stressful for them as things come back to life when so many events have been postponed. The Barley Sheaf is very serious about pandemic precautions, so masks are in full effect, and they'll walk you to your socially-distanced table in a beautiful, outdoor gardening setting. The inn itself is an architectural delight, as well, so you are surrounded by beauty on all sides. Service was pleasant and forthcoming. I wouldn't say that this is the finest level of dining, of course, you're not expecting EMP in the middle of Bucks County, but this is a good attempt, and people are pleasant and quite dignified. The guests were all well attired and the crowd is polite and kind. Food is of the adventurous character, which I enjoy. A lot of different flavor combinations (they like to do salé and sucré), beautiful plating, interesting textures, and good cooking techniques. My favorites were the octopus appetizer (so buttery soft and tender, which is a rarity) and the pheasant special, which was a pleasant and apropos surprise in this outdoor, country setting. Finally, this is a BYOB restaurant with perfectly selected wine glasses, fine silverware, and other special touches such as a freshly starched linens, etc. which elevate the dining experience.

All excellent. They have a small "snack room" near the main entrance that has popcorn, and water, coffee maker, and other small amenities to make your stay more enjoyable.
